I'm blessed TMAO has been found and people are doing research on it, I've had TMAO all my life, I've been made fun of for having an stank smell due to my TMAO. I'm thankful to know it wasn't just me, and it's real, my future generation will know how to handle my genetic TMAO. Be blessed never stressed
I respectively disagree. People who eliminate choline and carnitine rich foods like red meat see a significant decrease in TMA levels. Then if these same people begin eating red meat, their TMA levels will not increase because the intestinal flora what produces the TMA has died off. This indicates that the intestinal flora and the choline and carnitine rich foods working together are in fact the cause of the higher TMA levels.
TMA is not the only factor you should look at. Carnitine is an essential molecule for cellwall transfer of fats and fats are important, most of your body is fat. Every cell is wall is fat. Choline is a precursor for bile to digest many fats and some proteins from your diet. Your TMA levels might be low, but other nutrients will be missing if you don't eat like we are genetically predisposed. Think of your ancestors before the existence of refrigerators and globalisation of food. What die they eat? how often did they eat? Eating a vegan or vegeterian diet imo is better than no diet for sure, but there needs to be an intake of essential nutrients always. Only plants can give you what you need in precursor forms which your body can't directly use. Doesn't mean it doesn't work but it's for sure harder to be consistent with what you need from dietary intake.
@@alexanderfuchs770 it may be harder, but its ultimately better. Also rather have not a bad gut flory attack your gut cells in the first place, rather than constantly fixing your gut cells with "extra nutrients"

Mankind has been eating these foods in large amounts for millennia but heart disease, T2 diabetes, cancer and obesity have all took off just very recently in human history. Blame the food we’ve been eating ancestrally.
Very underrated channel, you have a new subscriber 😊👍 i have a question about microbiome: is kefir a good gut modulator? And based on your experience, how much kefir is safe to eat?
Plenty of science suggests that kefir has benefits to gut health. But I think, to really improve gut health, it is wise to look beyond, just sending more bacteria in. Who shows up is controlled by the body - it is not a random process. And the bacteria we need more of, are not milk based organisms, but soil based organisms. Here is a link to one of my videos, which explains more and gives an alternative option ua-cam.com/video/_bufSjNm6UA/v-deo.html
@@Betterbodychemistry So if diet isn't the cause of TMAO, how do you explain the vegans with 0 TMAO in their blood initially have lots of it if they eat meat for like a month? (they don't react immediately but with a delay, suggesting the bacteria in their gut is ramping up production). If diet was not the issue, obviously these vegans would not have elevated TMAO levels in just a matter of weeks, no heart disease develops that fast, especially in young and healthy people.

This is priceless information! Thank you so much! I feel confused about my case though because I'm in great shape, have no insulin resistance, have been on a cyclic Keto for 3 years, don't have a heart disease history in my family, never been diagnosed with any heart related problems, am relatively young (36yo), moderately active, and don't have a desk work. Although I have been trying to avoid cardio all my life because I just can't do it without being completely exhausted. Do you suggest my TMAO is a sign for me to finally pick up that cardio?
Probably NOT, however it would be remiss of me to not encourage you to MOVE MORE. It really does create BETTER BODY CHEMISTRY. But to say it will change your situation might just be wishful thinking. My advice. Be mindful of the number, but don't obsess over it. This is biology. We are all different. Make sure you have ruled out kidney issues - this can sometimes raise TMAO. If kidneys are fine, then a genetic anomaly may be raising the number. To date, there is no evidence that TMAO itself is a problem. In fact there is some evidence that it might be beneficial. I have a video sharing this ua-cam.com/video/1pZtt31mmHo/v-deo.html . What is harmful is insulin resistance. And high TMAO is part of the insulin resistant package - along with high "cholesterol", high triglycerides, high sugar, big belly and high BP. If this is not you, then the high TMAO is probably just an epiphenomenon.
Eish ! The answer to this is long. The short version. Carbs are what primarily trigger insulin. And too much insulin (especially insulin at night) / insulin resistance is at the root of metabolic diseases. High TMAO is just another marker of the metabolic chaos, it goes alongside high cholesterol, high blood pressure, high sugar, high triglycerides and big bellies. It has also been implicated in hypoxia (the shortage of oxygen). This video will explain more ua-cam.com/video/DBgdPssG7HI/v-deo.html

The diet part is misleading. Explaining it away with "doctors still recommend fish" doesnt cut it. Most doctors still recommmend fish because most doctors know little about nutrition. Simple logic dictates that if the source of the tmao is animal protein then of course eliminating animal protein will take care if tmao problem. There are tons of studies that do link diet to TMAO levels. Whole food plant based diets clearly show a protection from high tmao and thus much less risk of heart disease. Animal protein does injure endothelium via tmao, even while the gut mechanism explained here is true. It is not an either or situation. Both can be true. Saying that eating animal protein does not cause hjgh tmao in and of itself is misleading, in my opinion.
No doctors still recommend fish because there's on overwhelming amount of evidence that fish-rich diets are associated with lower incidence of heart disease. Therefore, the situation must be more complex than "animal protein generates tmao generates heart disease therefore animal protein bad".
The microbiome is the problem, if it's healthy and diverse and has either fiber or ketones to repair itself, then tmao is not a problem. Most people have a bad microbiome, inherited from parents or destroyed by pesticides/antibiotics/toxins.
Agree microbiome is important. And external factors contribute to the problem, but so do internal factors. It's a case of which comes first ? The chicken or the egg ?
