If someone survives a hit at 300+%, asdi-tdi techrolls into a frame perfect taunt, I dont care how good you are, you gotta unplug your controller after that
Holy shit, I remember Ice talking about this technique a couple of years ago and I can specifically recall him talking about having to taunt to prevent your character from falling offstage.
I can't wait to see top players spotdodging 3 times at the ledge just to get upsmashed by the other player
But a mixup would be to spotdodge only enough times to reduce traction (or velocity) so it no longer kills you, then recover normally. Admittedly still puts you in edgeguard/ledgetrap situation but it's better than the previously guaranteed death.

The reason Hax is recommending spot dodging is cause there is a 1 frame window for normal inputs, but spot dodges can be buffered in a 4 frame window and chained in such a fashion. A much more practical but more precise option is to use another grounded move with just enough frames to allow for survival but not for a punish if the spot dodge would last too long.
At least it gives you a chance

Fun facts:
- Your momentum is cancelled if you edge teeter. So Peach's dsmash and Doc's dtilt don't even need the taunt or spot dodge.
- Due to ECB updates, Falcon's knee is almost impossible (except for Puff and 4 low-tiers) to Amsah tech when fresh or partially staled. It requires a frame perfect (1 extra frame leniency when fresh) SDI with a precise angle that depends on your damage.
imagine playing fox, you nair this falcon while he's at 180 and you're like "he's so dead" and he just fuckin rolls across the stage, goes "show me your moves," and sends your ass to the blast zone

This one is certainly old news. It's in TASes from ages ago. Good breakdown though and shows where and when it might be feasible.
Not only did i learn an extremely complicated tech, I also learned you can spotdodge with Cstick. Now that’s value.

although a follow up to the d-smash might've been a good option for fox, falcon is able to mix up his rooting with a punch, a taunt and a dodge. i await the day in which this is common knowledge and everyone plays like anime fights.
The problem is that all three of those options can be easily covered by a charged upsmash or grab.
Can you imagine a falcon spot dodging in front of you 4 times in a row. I wouldn’t even try to follow up. I’d just watch the show

I'm very surprised he didn't mention how this tech is referred to as amsah teching by the community, or how you can fastfall and grab ledge after doing it. I don't know if it works all the time or if your knockback has to be reduced to a certain amount, but as Falcon I feel like you'd almost always want to grab ledge then ledgehop back with an invincible move or ledgedash rather than any of the options he has to stay onstage.

You can reduce the number of spotdodges you need to perform by inputting a fast fall then letting go to quickly snap to ledge even with a bunch of momentum.
Also worth noting that you can fast fall to ledge if your x kbv isn’t too high

What is the main difference between a tdi floorhug and an amsah tech? From my experience, you get the same
result just by doing an amsah tech and then fast falling right when you slide off stage to immediately grab the ledge.
The first half of this video is really just explaining amsah teching in depth calling it something else

Quick question:
Say you are down smashing a sheik after she recovers on stage and she hits tdi, tech rolls, and starts performing spotdodges to root herself/ cancel the momentum. While she is spot dodging, can you just put out a lingering hitbox over her vulnerability at the end of her 2nd spotdodge and kill her no matter what because she already pressed L to spotdodge previously? I could have something wrong here but wouldnt it be more optimal to aim for the 1 frame taunt input because then you get 100 frames of being rooted and then only have to try to tech the opponent's move on reaction?
