Most of the fish (that I've cared to look at) comes from Vietnam and Oregon. Oregon mostly does tilapia and salmon, vietnam everything else. I stocked fresh and frozen fish at Walmart, so not saying completely true.
Try the non breaded small cooked frozen shrimp. The small bag is just enough to add to a small pot of chicken and shrimp gumbo or shrimp and broccoli alfredo. I can cook like a gourmet for myself and only spend $1.00 instead of $10.00. Love it.

Wild-caught shrimp from Vietnam? You do realize that you are eating a bottom-feeding insect that was caught from the Mekong Delta which is one of the world's most polluted water systems?
I've tried the butterfly shrimp and the shrimp tempura, both cooked in an air fryer. Both came out crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. Both tasted ok, but not exactly a shrimp taste. Still, not bad for $1 each, ok for a late-night snack.
Those mixed seafood sticks have the same 'rice crispy' coating as Birds Eye puts on their chicken 1/4 pounders, damn tasty, though best enjoyed in moderation, no way in hell is it good for yah.

I have been ordering, from Amazon, a few different shrimp products. Raw deveined "easy peel" shrimp, cooked cocktail shrimp, and breaded butterfly shrimp (which do need cooked). The breaded shrimp is a pretty good deal, average 39-40 largish shrimp in a bag, about three meals worth, for under ten bucks delivered! These are "Sea Best" products from Vietnam, taste is okay, not great. I am housebound, unable to get out and shop, so having it delivered to my home is good. Prices are decent.
Why wild caught shrimp are used in popcorn shrimp is because of the size. Usually shrimpers go out and harvest the small wild shrimp while shrimp farmers harvest bigger shrimps.
I know Dollar Tree is your own adult playground, but I can't help but think its real function is to rip off poor, unsophisticated consumers who think they are getting deals because everything's a buck. Ironically, just about everything you try seems overpriced, even for a dollar.

i was shocked when the smoothie tempura swooped in and took 1st prize, these dollar tree foods are hard to figure out, I’m glad we have you wolfe pit to guide us!
My children are long grown and gone with families of their own. Fish sticks (Gorton's of Gloucester), Kraft Mac 'n' Cheese, and copious amounts of catsup/ketchup were Friday Fare in a Roman Catholic household. I do NOT recall even Gorton's fish sticks being encased in plastic inside the box. That may have changed now, but all those decades ago, you just opened the box, put the fish sticks onto a baking pan, and baked them in an oven if you wanted to keep the breading crispy. Microwaving made for soggy fish sticks.
Please do not swallow any food from the Dollar tree. I appreciate your review but it's not worth your health. Chew for flavor then discard into the trash. Love your vids, man! Dont want to loose you to dollar store food.
The Ocean Wave popcorn shrimp is a ridiculous rip off. You are probably getting only 2 oz of shrimp at the most for a dollar. The other 1 oz or more is breading. That makes it $8+ a pound. You can get some of the finest fresh shrimp for $8 a pound!!
A serving of the tempura is only 2 of those caterpillars. Only 3 grams of protein per serving. an ounce contains about 29 grams. So one serving contains about one tenth of an ounce of protein.

After cooking for a total of 20 mins, I let them stand for 5 mins and then tried them with an actual Asian dipping sauce (May Ploy Sweet Chili sauce). The texture was really pleasant- as you said, like rice krispies. But I really didn't pick up any real seafood flavor. I'd rate them as a 3. Can't believe that the serving size is 2 pieces. Definitely can't get full on that and a cup of rice. I have a box of Trader Joe's tempura shrimp in my freezer. Will try them tomorrow for a comparison.
