nearly 10 years and i wish we could hear it all for the 1st time again
Actually, the EP release date has already been either 10 years or absolutely close to being 10 years (since it was released in 2012) and this video was released in 2013. I just discovered it this year after a long time of it being in my suggestions. I regret not clicking on it earlier. I'm a huge fan of Intervals now. :)
@@Acepilot1312 haha very specific. Great music for sure :).
I just heard this today and fucking wow. My life is forever changed.
10 years of enjoying this masterpiece. Still gives me chills and brings me close to tears.
I just did. What an incredible moment for me
This is simply one of the best instrumental songs I've ever heard.
Agreed, this is up there with Gru's Nebula
Buckethead is personally my favourite but intervals has become my most played as of recently! Absolutely love this band
No doubt about it, the riff is beautiful
This song / instrumental is fire
@@RsPker141 agree and Gru's-Andromeda olso
This song, and I'm not even kidding, changed my perspective on guitar playing. Here I am 3 years later and it feels like the first time watching it.
it's very inspired by Allan Holdsworth. Notice the combination of lydian and pentatonic
Yeah i cant get tired of it. Ever.
i gave up playing guitar after 20 years and after being able to play things like joe satriani and john petrucci..listening to this song made it all come back to me and i wanna play again
yeah its amazing there's always an endless approach to music
Shouldn't you be listening to tupac bro? Don't fret bro we'll welcome you back. You're a king.. so stop this noise
Single-handedly one of the best clean tones I've ever heard.
Tim Watson Have you not heard that phrase before?
+dropkickproductiontx But he played the guitar with both hands
+dropkickproductiontx Although he understood what you meant by the comment, he was being pedantic; pointing out that the way you used "single-handedly" doesn't make sense in the context of your comment. The meaning of the phrase is to use only one hand, or to do something without help or support from another person or party.
GalacticPassenger Okay, good point. I will concede with that.
+dropkickproductiontx But he played the guitar with both hands
This is one the best vibes ever created on planet earths history
This song is sonic perfection. It has everything. Goosebumps, man. Goosebumps.
+Brian Asklund sanic perfection??
+Brian Asklund Ikr! The goosebumps man
I just discovered this band. Can't stop listening.
if i was a train i would marry this track
Wtf?
Train track.@@beyondintervals6606
You're so corny
So bad that its good
nice english word play :D
p.s. i'm russian
The music video is amazing, I love how the "djent" and modern prog metal invokes this beautiful trippy space spychedelic kind of atmosphere.
Spychedelic? I like it, that's going in my daily vocabulary
This video has Nothing on the music itself
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the visuals don't do nearly as much justice as the audio here!
Still my favorite in 2022! That ending solo is fire.
If you didn’t already know, that is actually a guest solo by David Maxim Micic, although he’s not credited anywhere other than by some others in the comments. Check him out if you haven’t heard of him! He does amazing work
I’ll see you with Animals as Leaders in ATL this Friday 😭 I’m so excited!!!
im watching them next 1st of august with Animals as Leaders. I hope they play this
en Madrid! Ahí estaremos.
I'll be there bro :D será un super show.
was waiting for the same thing, unfortunately they r not playing it on this tour.
watching them in december with AAL!
Lauliet Plini is opening on that tour. you need to check him out
this is incredible. This band requires no vocalist. The guitars, bass and drums have their own voice and this song (in fact in all their songs) speaks for itself.
This is so tastefully written.. Melodic djent at its best. I'm kinda sad that Aaron abandoned this style, but also i'm grateful that he continues making the music he likes.
I feel ya. When he was making music that was heavier like this, I think he was able to mix djent and melody so well. LIke, you could tell that it was Aaron because he has a melodically defined style of playing. But yeah, hoping that his next album mixes TSOC and his past stuff. But that's just wishful thinking, who knows which direction he's going to take his next album. If anything, I think Epiphany best represents his both sides of his melodic writing and metal/djent writing.
Intervals at their best, by far. I appreciate them trying to reach a broader spectrum with bringing in a vocalist, but this is their strong point right here. It's what got me into them, and to this day, I *STILL* love 'In Time'. Really hope they can come back to this. Otherwise, I'll be waiting for an instrumental release of A Voice Within...
So many amazing things to come and we didn’t know it yet.
I will always remember hearing this for the first time while stargazing. Focusing on Venus in the Dark, western sky while listening to that calm intro. Then, as the song ramps up and gets heavy, I peek through the telescope, and see the furious, scorching descent of our sister planet. It was truly one of the most beautiful things I have ever witnessed.
My god. Just reading this painting a picture with wonderful accuracy.
Holy shit that must've been awesome
Imperial Fistin I was stargazing too when I first head this song. I know the feeling.
Outer space is a hoax. What are you rambling on about TV watcher?
Imperial Fistin That sounds awesome
Man, I miss this type of bands and music.
Jesus Christ that crunch-in at 1:38 is God like. guitarists spend their lives trying to find tones like this.
Caleb Anthony and it's only 3k away. A X E FX II
Caleb, you made your comment 3 years ago.
I hope you are well.
Caleb, yes, JESUS is GOD.
Thanks my friend, Christopher AKA Pher.
DEJENT!!
@Nick B ahahahha
Djesus
Wow I truly forgot about this music video. I’m glad to reconnect!
The kind of band you listen to when you wanna just kick back, toke, and listen deeply. Seriously I feel like this harmonizes with my soul :)
These visuals are stunning!
magicD_drummaguy I like propane first and foremost, but this is a smaller hobby.
Omg Hank likes intervals?!
Lmao! Fuck yea. Made me have a good laugh.
yus win on life we have haaank muthafuckinnnn hiiiillllllllllllssssssssssss on the metal scene :p
Seven years on, this song has not been beat in this genre, call it post-rock/djent/finger-tapping whatever. I keep coming back to this, and looking for it elsewhere. Plenty of great artists out there I am sure plenty of people are familiar with- Tosin Abasi, Polyphia, Micic, Plini, Yvette Young, many more we all could name - and all of them are great, really are. And maybe it is just me, but this song has for me a depth of expression I haven't quite heard again, after all this time. Plenty of great technical skill, but for me this song marries skill with depth of expression, and hits the way Floyd's Comfortably Numb solo does. So it is probably saying too much and there is so much music out there, but this track is just one of my favorite of all time, and I think it always will be. Thanks, Aaron!
Great vid. Like the aura effects. Excellent music. Always appreciate the musicianship a group who aren't simply chugging along on a single open 1-5 chord in some mathematical pattern, with a monologue of tapping or arpeggios and no changes. Real creativity. :) Music for musicians and enthusiasts alike.
+Naiya Cominos I agree the aura effects are awesome, as is the song itself. Love this!
Got it you know some stuff. ;)
fuck you I appreciate certain simplicity in music.
+Naiya Cominos troll level 100000
I forgot this song exhausted until it returned to my feed. Wooooooow
Its been 4 years and I still come back for this masterpiece.
Over 5 years later and this song is still one of my top 5 instrumentals EVER. Lasting impact is how you know you've made a masterpiece.
Aaron has the coolest spastic vibrato. Its so expressive and alive
This is the most emotionally appealing rock instrumental I've heard in a very long time...I've got it stuck on repeat...It isn't too flashy, not pretentious, not overly complicated but still complex yet simple to the ear... just beautiful! these guys most have learned the psychology of music...cause the whole song appeals to a particular group of emotions and has a consistent effect. Its not very often that i search for songs and buy them but this is one i will be supporting
This was the first joint i had ever heard from Intervals. I was posted in this god forsaken town on the border where we hardly had 3G at the time and youtube videos would buffer all the time. I would play it over and over in the car on my way home on the weekends and back. Did this for a year. And all these years later, listening to it still has the same effect on me - absolute awe. Learned how play parts of the song but still havent mastered it completely.
Just wonderful! Listened to it about a million times over the years and it never gets old! Love you guys, keep going!
I heard this Song 7 years ago for the first time, and its still one of my favourites. Love you Guys.
same with me bro
We'll miss you Lukas and Anup! Good luck on your future endeavors!
Ryan Merica What happened? Did they leave the band???
Sadly.
Ryan Merica ......they've left......SHIT
Ryan Merica Yeaaah i read they left because Intervals was gonna add a vocalist but Anup and Lukas wanted to take intervals higher as an instrumental band. So they left
They were smart to leave cause metal and instrumental bands don't make shit for money
This song is so groovy. I can just chill out and listen to this all day long
Wow I had not heard this song for probably 8-10 years since last time, such an awesome song and it brings back great memories even though it has no lyrics, just the melodies themself's, great stuff!
Back since the Bandcamp days to hear this magnetic masterpiece. This is current gen Bach metal masterpiece.
I just can't get over how good this track is. So much the prog metal stuff is very technically impressive, but often quite forgettable. I don't think a piece needs to be catchy or have a hook to be good, but it's hard to ignore that it does help our appreciation of it. Every part of Epiphany sticks in your brain, from the smooth jazzy cleans to the djenty heavy stuff. The outro is just lovely. I'm not sure why but I just love the the palm mutes in it. The other thing I love here is that while this isn't an easy piece to play it's something that I can realistically see myself learning - it's not beyond my skills, though it'll be a challenging. It's not like most of Animals as Leaders (which I love) that it's not even worth trying because I just don't have the hours (or self-discipline) to learn anything Tosin plays.
I think this musical composition came out as an epiphany for these guys... beautiful...
Wtf is this shit? How in the hell are humans capable of creating something so perfect and amazing like this?!!!
you're speaking out of my mind
I hope I speak out of everyone's mind! Lol
well said
if there ever comes UFOs to the ground, and they ask the world what good music is, then I say intervals ftw
Heck yea! Aliens would want to be humans after hearing haha!
One of the best guitar songs ever written
seven years and still awesome omfg
Oh God, they've just released an album and I'm still desperate for more. These guys are just too fucking good.
THIS WAS RECOMMENDED FOR ME I HAVE NO IDEA WHY BUT I'M SO GLAD I CLICKED IT! THIS IS SO GOOD!
The clean-scale contrasts perfectly with those two "choruses"
Songs like these give me the same epiphany over and over again: to let my mind and heart dance to all the marvelous things this world has to offer and to share it with those who will have it. Because it's things like that that makes it worth it to work and struggle through the rest.
Outstanding. Will purchase albums soon.
you guys really know how to keep the rythem interesting and the melody beautiful hitting each note then another in the same key while phrasing. true seasoned musicans you can tell
1:39-1:54 omg love this, what a majestic melody
I love Aaron's face at 2:01-2:02 he looks so chuffed that he played that bit!
8 years later and this is still a masterpiece. such a powerful song
composition of this song is amazing, it has everything, complex, technical and yet melodic.
Anup is a beast, perfection yet still grooving. Guest David Maxim Micic solo is sick too.
I dont know if anyones too fussed, but that first segment is an Ab 9/7 vamp with Ab lydian dominant as the functioning scale, giving it a fresh sound as #4/#11's are being implied over it. Just a lil tip if you're wondering how to use similar ideas.
literally shut the fuck UP HAHAHAHA
I don't know what you said but I'm really into it.
I can’t find a translator for this
+Mac
...Maybe.
Yeet
So why does it nowhere in the title or description credit David Maxim Micic's guest solo?
+Chalky Wilston
That was the best part of the tune by far, I would have never known that. It's a good tune don't get me wrong but It's a little too laid out and the improv part was a very much needed section, should have been more parts like that.
Because Aaron Marshall lol that's enough reason not to credit anyone
They gave credit even to the hair makeup artist. Lol.
It wasn't an improv section it was an actual solo, which he has since demoed for his fans on his UA-cam and Facebook media portals.
Right! He's a fucking selfish. That's the reason why the rhythm guiitarist left the band. Selfish for fame
Chris Pine absolutely *killing* it
The guest Guitar solo by David Maxim is so good , It's one my favourite guitar solos of all time 😊
I'll play this song on a talent show at my job. Wish me luck so I don't miss any note LOL.
record that shit and post it!!
Aww, no one recorded it...
I managed to play it but my backtrack was fucked up due to "technical issues" so I've missed the time on some parts due to not hearing the drums.
wow, i have played guitar for 15 years.... I don't know how to play guitar
dreaminginnoother this song completely changed my guitar playing game.
Like you, i'm feeling like a noob :p
Private lessons mate. Been playing 13 years and still can't sweep.
Been playing since I was 4 and have a wall of vintage guitars this guy changed my view on playing
try playing guitar for 20 years and then you find this and you're like...what..the..fuck...
i quit playing guitar
it makes me want to play guitar but no i cannot ever do that
Instrumental piece of the decade?
Absolutely...
Gru's Nebula is in the running too :) Love this piece, like the video as well.
Animals as Leaders - "the woven web" for me ;), still fantastic piece of music!
Dennis Heicke thanks for that recommendation ! :) ill give you one as well in return: Plini Sweet Nothings EP..
der Mann "Left Right" - Little Tybee for me. Epiphany being a close second.
i used to listen to this 5 years ago..Now i finally found it 😅 i want to learn to play guitar again just because this soynds so beautiful.
i just discovered this band by accident. Impressed greatly.
2:09 - 2:54 best part of the entire song. simply amazing
Muitíssimo parabéns 👏 Demais belíssima música irmãos 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Classic....Still my favorite tune from these guys in 2019.👍🙏
The fact they can hit you in the feels without a singer is why i love these guys.
Trying to beat this Fentanyl addiction man... Laying in my bed withdrawing and this. THIS is getting me through. With love
-Lorenzo Baca
This track so flame. I wish they kept this style.
So is anup sastry look at the flame around him
I shall check it out. Thank you for the recommendation
Wow. Good song.
Is that Anup on drums??? My man!!!
Where do these kind of extremely talented, jazz influenced, progressive bands come from all the time?
This is just magnificent!
3:09 thats sooooo beautiful, the snare dinamics
Damn, this kills their new stuff with their vocalist. This is so much more unique.
2024 still here ❤🔥
Love this band, but makes me want to cry because of how beautiful this music is and knowing i can never write something like this..
Same :,(
do not worry about not being able to compose a masterpiece as such, rather use it as your inspiration to create your own masterpiece and bless the opportunity you have to listen to this music
David Moore straight up
This instrumental is absolutely beautiful!!!
Love how it says "Terminated" at the end. Like they new this would sizzle my brain and the way I like.
At 2:00, "I fucking nailed that note." Intervals rocks
In 2014 I discovered this underrated EP and said "Fuck why aren't these guys big yet?"
2021, glad to see the appreciation has matured.
Welcome new friends. Please grab your complimentary 8 string boden and soda at the door.
2:10 is just complete ear sirloin.
Tastiest solo I've heard in ages, he does so much with so few notes - definitely something to aspire to.
the tone is so natural sounding too.
I keep repeating this part, so beautiful!
One of the most beautifully composed songs in the genre right now imho. Fin McKenty brought me here after interviewing “Interval,” the guitar player. I’m a fan.
These guys are amazing
MÚSICA LINDA!!
top mesmo !
A instrumental metal classic from the second it came out.
NO VOCALS THERE TRULY IS A GOD AND HE LOVES US
Yes he does. He loves all of us. We are his children. It makes me happy that I am a child of the most high God!
damen grandel that escalated quickly
lol
Egerspurge this comment made me smile.
jai Baba
Goosebumps, man. Goosebumps.
Still one track on my regular daily rock/metal playlist. Incredible! It's not aged a bit.🎸🤘🏻💪🏻🔥🔥❤️🇬🇧
2:09 gives me chills
Me too :'D
2024 anyone??? 🔥
Also, I didn’t know Anup was on this! 😱🔥
Yesir!
😤😤😤
Yes
I feel like every guitarist should come back here to be in the zone of concept, feels & Drive🎸🎸🎸🥇
Hay demasiado talento en el mundo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome song!
sick man
This song marked a before & after in my life
Absolutely one of those songs - Now I like this album even more than Animals As Leaders or Plini.
This song pushed me to finally get a 7 string. Unfortunately there aren't that many 7 string songs that I like jamming to so I get back to "In Time" on a regular basis.
Theyre touring with AAL and Plini...cant wait to see the trinity of prog metal!
just announced a chon tour boi,
Why is there no ABSOLUTELY LOVE button?
This song is by far the most influential and powerful songs I've heard in a very long time. This song perfectly encapsulates how I feel about life and my personality. I know it's a bit morbid to think so far ahead, but this song will be played at my funeral.
This video has been played everyday in my house since I heard it! This is one of those songs that you just don't get tired of! No joke every morning I wake up and have a smoke sesh to it. "gotta get ya mind right" THIS SONG WILL DO IT EVERYTIME!
So beautiful. :')
+Erick Garcia like that icon photo another good band lol
David Maxim Micic's solo is so amazing...
If you can learn this from tabs, stop using tabs!, you're are good enough to learn by ear....guess what, its faster, a LOT faster. And you learn to play the piece in the most comfortable way for you, the guy/gal who isnt the composer ;)
If you're like me, and learned to play with tabs first, and got this far, you have no idea what you are capable of, and what is locked in your muscle memory. Seriously.
/End inspirational Rant. Music like this SHOULD NEVER make you put your guitar down, it should almost unequivocally ALWAYS make you reach for it :)
Agreed, learning to play something "impossible" always makes your talent level rise tremendously. Unfortunately, due to a severe injury to my left arm, I cant play anymore.... this was my latest goal before I had to call it quits 😭😵
this.... 100% correct! i never had internet when growing up and learning guitar, and always had to learn by ear... but my friends used them and swore by them so i gave them a try, and most of the time user written tabs are wrong! i only knew this because i had trained my ear to a way where im more inclined to pick up subtle parts in the song.
@@senseiii3986 Well that just sucks
But why stop using tabs though ?
In Time is one of the only 2 Albums I ever bought sheet music / Guitar Pro files for ( the other one is Plini's Handmade Cities ) never in my life have I ever made better use of 30 $.
Also Epiphany is one of Intervals' easier songs except for the solo and one small tapping part at the end of the long intro, just before the first heavy riff and chorus. The middle section is the most satisfying guitar part I've learned in 2020. I'd say this album is progressively taking me out of the Intermediate level of playing and slowly entering the realm of advance - I was happy for 10 years playing highly satisfying intermediate stuff - then came the few bands that are more out there - ( namely Animals As Leaders, Intervals and Plini ) - but retain a very fun and catchy guitar style.
Yeah I dont like laying the guitar and this makes me want too
Man, that clean tone is by far the best I've ever heard.. Axe FX is doooin' well to this new generation of guitarists
7 years and still fresh...
