- This short film has been made to highlight the current situation of a homeless man from Punjab (India) who has been living in England for the past 16 years. Although when he originally arrived from India he started to work in the construction industry, due to recent employment legislation he has fallen into a life of homelessness and alcohol abuse.

As a western born punjabi myself, this truly breaks my heart. I watch this and see my father. Except he worked hard for a "big" home and other material things, all the while allowing his daily alcoholism to consume him to the point of destroying relationships with this family.
When you are an addict, you create a sad dysfunction in the home, and hurt those around you. This is how kids grow up hating their punjabi fathers. But no one wants to talk about it.
Punjabis don't like to talk about their problems...almost as if by not talking about them, they don't exist.

One thing is sure, no Sikhs should go hungry in UK. There are gurudwaras everywhere where food is free and nice. They do not ask religion, caste , race or creed. this man is alcoholic and that is a problem for anyone sheltering him.
i live in Ilford and go to the gym nearby from where this was filmed. If i see him i will surely help him give him some warm food and whatever money i have. Its really sad to see this especially given how cold it is now and those areas aernt the safest at night.

I used to volunteer for IOM, Ogn helping these migrants to go home when i was in UK. This guy is one of the numerous cases. This lady is right, but i also had word with Indian officials, sympathy for them too. When illegal immigrants comes they tear down their doc, its very difficult for Indian/Pakistani embassies to do the verification of these people back home. Thats why its very time consuming process.

There is nothing wrong for those who drink alcohol 'once in a blue moon' but addiction destroy health ,family and face financial problems.
No one has ever able to solve the personal problems by having alcohol and those who are having alcohol and as time goes the tolerance keeps on increasing and eventually a person become addicted to it and than it's known as 'ALCOHOLIC' person.
You said in your comment that you drank alcohol when you were 12 years old and you did not become addicted to alcohol that is very good and i hope that you will keep it .
As you are saying that he is under psychological pressure and by having one or two beer will makes not difference but on other hand his problem will not solve once he become sober he will feel relief from the pressure of life for a short period of time and on other hand it will be just temporary solution and there are lots of other help available to solve life t problems.

Thanks for exchanging your personal views and i fully agree with you that some people are under pressure and they have no other alternative and in order to relief from daily stress they take the comfort of alcohol or any drugs as you said that i have been looking at my perceptive which i do not have objection and your comments sound logic.
When i was reading what he was saying only one thing which i did not agree with this person on one hand he is asking help from the divine and calling his name and on other hand he is holding a can of beer .
