My buddy gave me his Sahara 3000 after he wore it out. He locks his drag down and just horses fish in. He ended up damaging 3 of the teeth on the main gear. I threw in a new gear set and now the reel feels brand new. Paired it with a rod and it’s ready for this season now.
Won’t fish anything but Shimano. My favorite reel is a $45 1st gen Nasci 2500. From 100 schoolie bass in one session to 13 lbs blues to jumbo porgies. Fantastic reel. Don’t get me started on the Stradics, Twin Powers, and Stella. Only fish Shimano rods as well. I have issues.
Awesome! I had a bunch of shimano rods, some of the best rods I’ve ever owned. But...it got too expensive to replace. I broke a ton of rods every year for a couple years straight. Depleted my shimano arsenal
Nice smooth spinning reel. Just watched another review showing this reel is almost identical to the Nasci except the Nasci has water seals where this one doesn't. 98% the same reel...different name.
Hey man! I’m gunna do a year end video of the gear I used this year shortly, however, if you’re able to find some holiday sales for the latest model of shimano nasci, 2500-3000 series, I’d highly recommend those as well. They’re basically the step up from the Saharas. Good luck!
Sorry for your loss..my son an i had ours stolen at a boat ramp in northern wisc last summer..5 awesome set ups..wish people could work for a living instead of stealing..
I've been fishing Shimano reels in salt water for 20 years. I've had Shimano's from the older Sahara, Symmetry, and Saros reels. Now I have 3 different Stradics (FJ, Ci4+, and FL) and a baitcaster the Tranx 200. I've never had a Shimano fail on me.
@@GetReelBassFishingthe Sahara and Nasci have the same part numbers for all parts except the winding handle and the water proof washers on the handle bearing, main shaft and the drag cap. They’re the same reel except the Nasci is much more water resistant and Saharas are advertised as not for salt water despite the dude fishing with one in the ad is in a salt water estuary! 😅
Shimano is one of my top brand when comes to fishing gears, I know it may sounds a bit biases, but that just me, plus I just pick up the new 2022 model of the Sahara reel
Got a SH-2500FI give to me. I mostly ultralight so this this is a behemoth to me. I guess I need to buy a 7ft medium action rod and set it up for bass fishing
Depends on the action. This one, I’ve used 3/4 oz bucktails. Depending on the thickness of the hook on the bucktails, this rod may not work. I use this rod with lighter wire hooks and it’s awesome. I’ve thrown 6inch SPs with 5x strong trebles on it and it works great. A 1/2 oz bucktail may be a good size with this rod though too.
I would not recommend that. Even the 4000 is a little small. I have a 4000 size on a 7’ MH rod and I think an 8ft would be the longest I would put it on.
My problem is this I love Shimano I have Shimano Corrado‘s I have the bantam, I have the Corrado OK I have the 70 HG and the 150 I fish all Daiwa reels bait casters on my tournament legend Saint Croix bait caster jerk bait rod and I have me a jig and worm rod both by Saint Croix I have a Tutuila 8 to 1 gear ratio
Who would think an $80 reel is trash? A $20 reel sure but you’re taking almost $100 lol. Sure reels get a lot more expensive but that’s novelty/luxury.

Shimano has been making a solid product for years. Not too many other reels I trust to last.
Sure has..definitely beats all my other reels
Guys my dad just got me this reel and I caught a 4 POUND BASS I love it, definitely recommend, smooth, quality and overall very versatile

Just picked one up. Got the 2500 SHG paired up with a St. Crois Mojo Bass 7" 1 Medium Fast. Can't wait to try it out!
I have one of these that I bought three years ago. Smooth and reliable.
I just got the Shimano Sahara 2500 rear drag can’t wait to use it.I had a Shimano Quickfire-2 growing up this reel reminds me of that.

Thanks man. I just had 4 set up’s stolen out the back of my truck. I saw 4 of these on CL used for 120 bucks. I’ll grab them tomorrow!

I have two 2500's for bait fishing with floats on zander. Awesome reels! 👍👍❤

I think the new NASCI is one of the best reel from Shimano. I love this reel. I use it with Shimano SEDONA spinning rod.
I’ve been hearing that a lot! I may have to try the new nasci. I have the older one, and a couple new stradics too

Awesome review that is a great reel for the money !! Happy Holidays
Thank you!
Can't go wrong with anything Shimano
Any thoughts on the pflueger president?
How is the BassX for bucktails and small metals? Thinking about upgrading my beach fluke rod

How do you like the bass x rod?
It’s super fun and a great bass fishing rod.
can i put the 3000 on my 9' surf rod, thanks....

@@GetReelBassFishing thanks for your help and getting back to me appreciate !
I've been using Shimano reels for many years. And, for the price? I do not think you can find better.

I love my Shimanos. I got myself some stratics and ci4+ this year, I don’t think I’ll be fishing anything else other than Shimano...
To sedona is similar and cheaper
Guess i gotta go buy one!
Sure do!
👍👍👍
pulled a 25kg ray on a sahara 4000 with 40lb braid, such a little beast of a reel!!!
That’s awesome!
