    From the pristine, uniformed utopia of the late 70's to the apocalyptic zombie of 2018, how perception of the future has changed!
    Still a great song & a great version.

    I thought The Old Grey Whistle Test was active from 1971 to 1989
    turns out it is still sometimes active for old treasured moments
    Show for interviewing musicians and bands show off their music
    Gary Numan looks like an escaped convict from the mental asylum his outfit.

    The original is always best, but its weird to see the Macs connected to the keyboards and all the digital stuff. You listen to the original and you really know he was wayyy ahead of his time in '79. Thanks for posting this!

    • @spiffosmith2177
      @spiffosmith2177 6 років тому

      It certainly is odd to see Macs connected to Controller Keyboards. I think the original sounds better tbh, what is that weird synth sound in the Middle 8 at 1:25, it sounds nothing like the original which is a kind of Organ sound layered with a Saw Sound from the Verse. Are they deliberately trying to sound different or is that they can't be bothered to program anything to sound like the original, I've often wondered ?

    • @thedukeofchortlebury9124
      @thedukeofchortlebury9124 4 роки тому

      BBC sound engineers use a lot of compression on live recordings, then, when videos get uploaded to UA-cam, it goes through further compression (this "dilutes" certain bass frequencies). There's a strong possibility that the synths were actually a lot more forceful in the studio ; )
