Why would you put an overlay over that beautiful exposed aggregate borders? People pay a lot of money for exposed aggregate finish. It would have looked awesome if you would not have done overlay on the exposed aggregate borders the contrast between the new overlay with the darker beautiful exposed aggregate would have looked awesome- it would make the property "POP". In my opinion you ruined the artisan/craftsmanship of the exposed aggregate. It hurt to watch you cover it all up. OUCH!

India have much better concreate technology than USA have. See Mumbai Concreate Roads they are in very much good shape and no chipping even after constant use from 30 years. USA must learn from India in this matter.

Your lack of knowledge regarding concrete is obvious. Concrete deterioration is primarily due to freezing, thawing and chemicals used to battle the elements. Does it even snow in Mumbai? I know a cold winter in Mumbai is 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Hardly a fair comparison.

@@jayeshgangar1551 The US has more paved roads and highways than any other country in the world, so the concrete technology in the US is sound. Most of your engineers were probably educated in Europe and the US anyway. The flaw in your statement is is that you are comparing apples to oranges. The U.S. has a climate issue not a technology issue. India has done some nice things with their highways but doesn't have the freeze thaw issue to deal with In over half of it's country as does the U.S. I'm sure Mumbai has some nice highways but overall paved highways in India are not good. Do some research, you'll find that outside of the area you are familiar with, much of the paved roads in India are nothing to be proud of. I don't believe your concrete technology is anything special.

You took all the character from that slab out! In my opinion it looked way, way,way better. But, I do see that the owners wanted it to look brand new and to seal it against future cracks or weed growth. But first it looked like a big flat old stone. Now it looks like plain grey cement. Oh well.

Make sure to tell people to cut the slab joints only 1/3 to 1/2 the way down and not to go all the way through. Reason = these joints are made to have the stress fracture in it and the vertical and horizontal jagged edges in the crack itself help hold the two slabs together as they rises and fall. This is to prevent one slab of concrete rising above the slab next to it. The crack itself actually locks the two slabs into each other. And I think we all have seen or had an encounter with that pesky trip hazzard slab sticking 2 inches above the slab next to it on diy projects that cut all the way through before.

Years ago, I had this done on a small backyard concrete patio, and it fairly quickly (after one very cold winter) began to chip back out. The prep work was pretty much done as you did it in this video. I was informed by another masonry contractor that the mistake made was not using a bonding agent. I saw you only spray water (hydrating); that might help with bonding, but I don't believe it is a bonding agent. Wish you had used some of that in this video, so I could see what it is and how to apply it.
I have a concrete driveway also, that needs repair of much deeper pitting than was the case in this video. Does that change the process you use?
Good video, I did learn some of the technique.

The product is pretty good but, if you had a tighter mix ( if that’s possible) you could lose all those lines of imperfections. Working with that stone looks like a real pain. This coating is not for those picky homeowners due to the nature of flow of that mix. I would have just put 1 inch thick pavers down. That product needs refining. Video was very well done.

Since the over spill is likely to have been sealed, I would hope that simple "pressure washing" isn't the answer (or it would imagine that pressure washing any of it, at least initially, would damage the surface)

I could have hammered out the old concrete, used the exposed concrete for forms, poured and finished new concrete in the time it took you to power wash the old concrete, and I know my work would last longer than your product covering that old concrete that wasn't properly finished when it was originally installed.

ikr There should be some way to weed out poor concrete work? Do they require a license to do concrete? It doesn't fail, flake, crack until after they've been paid.

@@ThatGrizzlyGuy idk what your talking about. Concrete can not survive freezing conditions. I build coolers in stores for a freezer floor made out of concrete you have to dig down put a layer of sand the gravel then more sand. It's been awhile so I am not up on the spec's anymore. Most freezers we just put panels on the floor

@EdwardPuddy: I live in an area that gets lots of snow / cold / ice. Stores like Autozone and Advanced Auto use Concrete at their parking spots. I assume it s sealed and maybe a special formula because it holds up well under severe conditions.

Talk about a well oiled machine. Were it not for the fact that my brother and I worked well together in our younger days, I would have thought it was choreographed. A pleasure to watch. Thanks.

Here's a pro tip: Knee pads!! Watching you guys kneel your bare knee on concrete makes MY knees hurt! Your knees were not meant to stand on. Wait till you get a bursitis, as I did. You'll understand completely! There's a little sack in your kneecap called a bursa that contains lubrication. If that Bursa isn't happy, you won't be either! 😳

Loved the idea and the instructions! I did notice there is a white residue around the bottom edge of the wall and support post that is not there in the beginning of the video. You mention that it isn’t related to your work, but again it wasn’t there in the beginning. Is that a residue that will wash away, or is that a permanent whitening? Did you figure that out? Thanks in advance!
