I'm a Proud Cherokee from Jay Oklahoma and very close friends of Wes' family here and we are very proud of him. In the movie he speaks Cherokee and when my grandparents first saw the movie their face lit up and they started laughing saying, in Cherokee, they'd never thought they'd hear our tongue in a movie! They're gone now, I miss them so much, and this movie reminds me of them being so happy and proud. This is my favorite movie!
I’m plains Cree and it’s so awesome to finally have native representation on screen and Wes is such an inspiration as an actor and an advocate for indigenous rights. Hiy Hiy niwīcēwākan/ thank you my friend
When he said "it's about time", I think he spoke for more than the indigenous peoples, I felt that way too!, and I'm a mixed ethnicity person. I think we all recognize this. I hope that in the future more first nations peoples will be given key roles in movies!!! Hats off to Wes!🖖🤗👍💜
I’m over the moon with truthful indigenous stories across the planet. Thank you all that have opened this door. So interesting that he was a bit intimidated by d ‘niro, and Pacino in the movie “heat”. Those two actors should have been in awe of Wes. Multi Lindquist, more mountains to climb to his success. Amazing human being with a lineage that is superior to the destructive white race. Applauding Wes Studi film producer and Oscar winning actor.
Thank you Moana Maniapoto God bless you amen How happy I am to discover this beautifully spoken articulate and intelligent interview -- like oxygen to my brain -- thank you I can think and grow & learn.
He's great in Reservation Dogs. And for a small role in "Pow Wow Highway" , as with Graham Greene, he was funny playing that horn dog character, chasing women and looking to party.
LOVE this interview! I would love to sit down and have a conversation with Wes. He’s one of the most interesting people I’ve ever seen. I’m also from Oklahoma and part Choctaw. I find him fascinating.
This man is my hero and has been from first sight. Most handsome man in Hollywood and the world. Best actor I've even seen anywhere, best story teller of all time. I love him from hes soul to the earth he walks on. Beautiful man, true soul of his people.
Wes deserved more than just one Oscar. To this day, his portrayal of Magwa in 'The Last of the Mohicans' and his character as a Pawnee in 'Dances WIth Wolves' are simply legendary. I grew up with those characters and Magwa was my favorite character in 'The Last of the Mohicans'. Being of Seneca descent myself, seeing Wes of Cherokee (Southern Iroquoian) descent portray a Wyandotte character (also Iroquoian) was very encouraging and inspiring. His mannerisms, stoicism, and comportment in those above-mentioned films made my childhood what it was.
I first time came across saw Wes Studi from The Last of the Mohicans 1992. I secondly saw him from Dances with Wolves 1991. And Thirdly from The New World 2005.
He was also hilarious in Mystery Men. It's a shame that movie was too far ahead of its time to find its audience, his deadpan humor was a delight for me 😆 I still haven't seen Reservation Dogs, thanks for the reminder 😁 Covid had completely detached me from the industry
He’s fabulous! He was surprisingly funny in Mystery Men and wonderful in last of the Mohicans. It was a real blast to see him in Heat which was different but a good change and not a stereotypical role. Wes Studi is awesome! 👏 😎
I look forward to watching more of your work Wes Studi (you were so good in Last of the Mohican -- I tasted the suffering of the First Nations, villages burned and decimated etc) -- good for me to learn and think -- intelligent acting. I want to find some good film and TV recreating the First Nation life of the Americas (and rest of the world) entirely free from European prejudice or perspective or even presence = does it exist? I'd like to be immersed in the warmth and love that is an undoubted part of the First Nation world -- is there film or TV that offers this?
Dear Wes; My grandmother's grandmother was a full blooded Cherokee. I don't even know her name. My Grandma's name was Edith which means "valuable gift". My Grandpa was a Robertson, a Scottish descent. All Robertsons are related and Came from "Robert the Bruce". My Father, who I finally found when I was in my twenties. My Father is a full blooded Italian. He was finally glad that I was able to find him. He became a Dad and a Grandpa. All good. When he got sick, since I was a Registered Nurse, I became his caregiver. His Sister told the rest of the family that he was being treated like a King. Exceptional, Excellent care. But, I knew a lot of the Nurses that I once worked with. And, his Doctor.
I have only ever seen Wes in 2 movies; Last of the Mohicans and Streets of Laredo. In the former he was seriously scary and in the latter as Famous Shoes, a gentle tolerant and stoic character, and the severe contrast between such characters....now that is acting. All the best to you Wes.
Wonderful interview. Very laid back. I stumbled on hostiles by accident on dish and the name put me off because it sounded to me like it was going to be stereotypic.Apaches and Chiricahua ripping people to pieces and all this and so I didn't Watch it the first time it came up but changed my mind and finally did and I was swept away. Subtle and beautiful performances by everyone. And if you haven't watched it give some thought to it
One of my great-grandmothers was a Penobscot Indian Princess. She often had problems because of her heritage. I can imagine some of the crap that Wes went through.
I'm surprised he did not mention Deep Rising I thought that movie was good as a horror movie and is underrated. It seemed scary when I was 10 yrs old and I first saw the movie. I just thought it was funny how Wes an average American man from basically the mid west plain states of America was buying and using Chinese rifles as opposed to buying American made firearms such as Remington, and Colt. 🤨🤨🤨😂😂😂
I just wanna point out that Sacheen littlefeather is not a native, her own sisters say she’s lying she’s half white half Mexican. She’s a pretendian lol
Wes Studi deserves far more recognition than he's ever received.
Both he and Woody Strode.
Wes Studi steals every scene he’s in. Magnificent.
His acceptance speech said it all. It was long overdue. He is a class actor. He has it all.
God Bless Wes Studi 🙏 amazing actor, terrific human being!
He owned it 100% The Last of the Mohicans is one of my favorite movies. A Legend for sure! Nga mihi👊🏽✨😍
He was brilliant in that.
Any performance this man delivers is worth watching.
Oh yes
Even killed it in Mystery Men

Well deserved and long overdue. Outstanding actor, great person, role model .
Enlightened everyone with the true soul of a native man. Thank you, Wes.
Wes is one of my favorite actors because of the depth of character he brings to his roles. One of the best!

Very well said, Senor!!
Thank you very much! What a beautiful and intelligent man he is!

Mystery Men was terrific! I showed it to my Boy Scout troop on a movie night. So inspiring!
I love Wes. Absolutely. I will watch anything he is in simply because he is in it.
Great actor and a very charismatic, charming man.
Thank you Moana Maniapoto God bless you amen How happy I am to discover this beautifully spoken articulate and intelligent interview -- like oxygen to my brain -- thank you I can think and grow & learn.
Not only a great actor but one of the good guys.
Where would we all be .........without the rebels of this world........??
He's great in Reservation Dogs. And for a small role in "Pow Wow Highway" , as with Graham Greene, he was funny playing that horn dog character, chasing women and looking to party.
A gem and an icon. He deserves all the flowers
LOVE this interview! I would love to sit down and have a conversation with Wes. He’s one of the most interesting people I’ve ever seen. I’m also from Oklahoma and part Choctaw. I find him fascinating.

I do not hero-worship anyone, but stand somewhat in awe of this man.

Favorite actor by far.
HUGE Wes Studi fan since Last of the Mohicans.
I love Wes, can’t wait to see him on Finding Your Roots
Greatest actor of our time;)
I really do like this guy. A lot.

I admire him emensely , more than any mainstream hollywood actor.

i wish we could get hollywood to do films on these stories. i have so many wonderful books with wonderful stories that should be in film.

BTW, no humans were native to the Americas. All came here over 15,000 years as Eurasians.

Got my profile pic tattooed on my left arm. Wes Studi, one of the baddest mf'ers there ever was, a time when men were men.
