Wes as Magua made Last of the Mohicans unforgettable. He didn't play a monster, but a man broken and twisted by suffering into a demon of pure hate and vengeance. I’d love to see Wes cast in a legal or business drama film where he’s a CEO or lawyer type. He has the sort of gravitas that few actors can pull off where he’s naturally in charge, sort of an Edward James Olmos vibe. Incredible actor, I’m a huge fan.

As a kid who loved historical films, when Dances with Wolves and Last of the Mohicans came out, I obviously loved those movies. Wes Studi was such a great villain in each. Not a two-dimension bad guy, just a perfect antagonist. And he seems like a really cool guy in real life.
One of THE GREATEST character actors of our time. Many of his roles appeared "small" but ALL of his roles were glue that held the story together. It seems like Mr Studi is a man who is grateful to be a part of some of the greatest movies of our time and proud to represent a marginalized Native society. 🎬🎥👏
World class actor. I love the dynamic he crafted between "Toughest Pawnee" in "Dances with Wolves" and Magua in "The Last of the Mohicans." It taught me the difference between a villain and an antagonist. Plus, he breached that door like a boss in "Heat."
I love the way Wes delivered the line with so much gravitas: "The Grey-hair's children were under Magua's knife. They escaped. They will be under it again."

He played the character of Magua so we'll, that I hated him when he killed Uncas. He acted incradibly well, he is a great actor. I felt so tense in that movie and believe me, all the way through. One scene I particular like was when the English soldiers were let go by the French after they gave up the fort and went thru a large forest path way clearing and then were attacked by Magua. That scene was felt so real, that I felt been there fighting the indians. I believe that The last of the Mohicans was one of many great movies I watched in my entire life. He was terrifying! The silent unspoken words of love between Uncas and Alice will forever be my favorite love story, sad yet beautiful. I simply love all the actors' portrayal of the roles they played.
Wow what a treat it is to hear this man give a little perspective on his career. “Legend” is thrown around a lot, but this man truly is one.
ua-cam.com/video/nvktZdUkgSg/v-deo.html 🦵🏾🔥
Trailblazer.
This man has such a strong presence and a casual humor. His way of getting into Heat was so funny and getting Day-Lewis' autograph.
What a grounded actor, he must be one of the best supporting actors of his time. There’s more to him than meets the eye and he is certainly not typecast.
I'd love to see a film with him and James Hong sharing the screen together. Maybe a detective buddy cop film, but that can get too obvious.
“…a film with Pacino, De Niro and me…” Well played, sir.
That's what we call a Pro Gamer Move!
And he's the greatest of the three in many ways.
The absolute balls on this man to say that. Im so impressed. He deserved his roles for sure but I love that he took this one
I love Wes, I would of seen many of the film's he was in because of him not the major name actors with him.
Minus Senior add Anthony Hopkins!
He's a great actor and a good man! I've always been a fan.
Agreed.
Wes is my favorite actor, but also enjoy watching his interviews; Seeing how he treats others with such respect is always impressive.
He was awesome in the movie Heat.
@@kyle47922 Absolutely man !
His performance in Last of the Mohicans was so powerful- I’ve always loved him in that role in particular.
Such an iconic actor that doesn't receive enough praise. He also looks fantastic for 75. I'd love to meet him one day
He's 75!? Wow!
Very handsome!
STUDi
Great actor, one of those guys who just dominates the screen whenever he’s on it. I’d love to see him in more films.
Yep, just like he did as Magua...
Such a great actor! Wes Studi deserves a Life Time Achievement Oscar
Agree 100%
I’d love to see Wes cast in a legal or business drama film where he’s a CEO or lawyer type. He has the sort of gravitas that few actors can pull off where he’s naturally in charge, sort of an Edward James Olmos vibe. Incredible actor, I’m a huge fan.
He has played a few detectives in his time and he is always amazing in that role, I could see him making a great CEO or lawyer!
I get the same impression! I hope a casting agent will make it happen.
Totally agree... oklahoma oil man or lawyer.
Movie time stamps:

6:49-The Last of the Mohicans
9:13-Geronimo: An American Legend

As a kid who loved historical films, when Dances with Wolves and Last of the Mohicans came out, I obviously loved those movies. Wes Studi was such a great villain in each. Not a two-dimension bad guy, just a perfect antagonist.
And he seems like a really cool guy in real life.
Proud to be Native American and watch his films as a kid.

You must be delusional, that movie was white man's fantasies...
The movie should have been called ,"safe the white woman at any cost"..
Last of the Mohicans has to be in my top 10 favorite movies.
Have you watched the extended version?
@@kopec82 unfortunately not. Does it add anything to the story?
@@SG-tf1fx movie is great on it’s own, but that soundtrack just adds soooo much!
I watched it and put it right back in the hopper and watched it again!
It's in my top 3
Huge respect for this man. He's a great actor.
One of THE GREATEST character actors of our time. Many of his roles appeared "small" but ALL of his roles were glue that held the story together. It seems like Mr Studi is a man who is grateful to be a part of some of the greatest movies of our time and proud to represent a marginalized Native society. 🎬🎥👏
Lmao no
Exactly! I feel the same way.
World class actor. I love the dynamic he crafted between "Toughest Pawnee" in "Dances with Wolves" and Magua in "The Last of the Mohicans." It taught me the difference between a villain and an antagonist. Plus, he breached that door like a boss in "Heat."
he was even sagat in street fighter
Such a terrific actor - I'm sure I'm not the only one who wishes they could've been at this interview to speak with him. Such a cool guy!
I love the way Wes delivered the line with so much gravitas:
"The Grey-hair's children were under Magua's knife. They escaped. They will be under it again."
I hated, feared, was saddened by, and empathized with this actor's characters on the screen. He is a great actor.
Well said.
I am so excited to see this, even though I am 2 years late to the game on this interview. This guy is an exceptional actor. I grew up watching his exceptional performances. He is so talented and so under rated.
Cast this guy as the Mandalorian's father already. Or Boba Fett's grandfather. Epic..
Do you mean jango fett
@@Mr2awesomecraft No, I meant Boba Fett. Boba Fett's grandfather would be Jango Fett's father..
Boba Fett is already old in the mandalorian tho, you mean if they do a prequel to the prequel maybe ?
Just cast him as the leader of another clan that teams up with Mando to kick some imperial butt, done.
@@ledernierutopiste Well....I mean, it's science fiction lol. These guys don't have to age like we do. But....yeah, any role as an older Mandalorian or what have you would be great..
Enjoyed seeing Wes in this interview. He seems more laid back and free-flowing in real life than in his movies.
Glad to see Mystery Men get some recognition, such an underrated movie
This guy has been around forever, he needs a whole series on his acting career.
Youngest looking Vietnam vet I’ve ever seen.
Wed Studi's voice has such a presence. I'm gonna have to go back and do a movie marathon of his films. One, because they're great films and two, because I want to keep hearing his voice. Also, love watching people talk with their hands. His were reciting poetry.
Wes has played some amazing characters and roles. Very talented.
His intelligence comes through very strongly with this interview. Very well spoken and respectful.
His "Geronimo" is an all time classic for me. Brilliant.
One of my absolute favorite actors, super handsome man, his portrayal of Magwua was epic! Mohicans was a terrific movie!
What a LEGEND! So glad to see Wes Studi featured here. He deserved an Oscar for Last Of The Mohicans. Magua was an epic antagonist.
He is one of the best actors today. His acting has outperformed many Oscar winning actors. He deserves more credit and I hope to see him in more movies, hopefully an MCU movie too.
Well, his indian blood makes him a class of his own these days. Unfortunately. Have you seen another representative of the american natives on screen lately, as in 20 or so years?
@@ShrekMeBe Adam Beach is the only one I can think of
@@ShrekMeBe that’s true. It does look like there are some upcoming Native American actors in that upcoming show Reservation Dogs on FX. Hopefully it does great and more representation of Native Americans actors rise up.
They could TOTALLY put him in a MCU role. The best part: he'd play hero or villain with equal style and expertise! He's already played a superhero once!
@Anonymus X Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Huge fan of Wes’ acting! Anything he is, he is the character! Pure talent and splendid devotion to every role.
When I was a kid, other kids were scared of Freddy, some were afraid of Chucky, some were afraid of Jason. I was afraid of Magwa.
Yes! I was terrified. 6 years old and I couldn’t go to the bathroom by myself.
Bruh SAME!!!! The heart rip out scene still haunts me to this day lol
@@thearthurmarston9897 For real. His Pawnee character in Dances with Wolves had me shook too.
@@yngvebalmsteen9174 I still need to watch that! Really curious!
I love this comment so much because it’s so true.
Magua is a fantastic performance. I still often think about that film. Maybe it's time for a rewatch.
I told my son he needs to see it.
I'm just glad they recently released the Ultimate Edition on DVD which includes the theatrical version of the movie that has yet to be on DVD or Bluray as it is much better to me than the directors cut. I still have it on VHS and would watch it that way until last year when I got my hands on the ultimate edition.
Its on hulu! Rewatched it the other day. Definitely holds up. That score though, stuck in my head for days.
@@soysaucehairdye7869 interesting. Do you mind sharing what makes it better? Or ill just Google it i guess.
It's a great movie and it's "Free on UA-cam" right now actually.
He's an incredible actor. He made Last of the Mohicans real for me. Unforgettable.
When I was 5 years old I saw this man cut a man’s heart out of his chest. In theory this man terrifies me so watching him in this light is the free therapy I needed.
That was in the last of the Mohicans.
This man is such a wonderful actor. He brings an element of authenticity to roles that are Native American characters. His voice is so distinctive.
He doesn't have to though...that's why he he is truly good.
Yes, David, I love his voice also! And I love his looks also!!! He’s just a cool dude! And it should thank he would make any Native American very proud! And his family also!
you noticed how he referred to them as indians at first? i think many of them prefer that over native americans
Hostiles has beautiful writing, acting, and a fantastic score. It very is underrated. Wes is more so underrated. I know he certainly has a typecast, but he really masterfully makes each character stand on its own
Really enjoyed Wes and Christian Bale in that one it should be talked ab more
One of the most memorable performances in movie history in LOTM.
More than a match for DDL.
As a kid I remember thinking he was terrifying in that movie.

@@randyjax09 he did relate a story while making that film that he was in a hotel elevator and a woman refused to ride with him. Perplexed, he looked at his reflection and remembered that he had his mowhawk🤣🤣🤣
He is so wholesome and underrated. Wish him all the success, deserves it.
this guy!!!! hands down my absolute favorite character actors. Just amazing to watch on screen, regardless of the role he plays. And such a kind and decent guy. such a rarity.
Glad Wes is getting more recognition as a great actor! Geronimo is one of my all time favorites. His performances are so realistic and just draws you into a scene/film. Seems like a truly humble person. ✌️
I loved his speech mannerisms and how he spoke in French during the film. It was almost melodic.
Such an incredible actor, he leaves his mark on every movie he makes
Didn't know he's a Vietnam Vet..awesome actor as well.
He seems like a very down to earth guy. Great actor as well. Did not know he was a veteran as well👍. Thanks for your service Wes!
Magua was his greatest part ever. The Last of the Mohicans would have been nothing without him.
He’s got this vibe of that cool grandfather whose got all the good stories but only talks about them if you ask. “Grandpa Wes! What was it like working with Pacino?”
I could listen to this man talk all day. Seriously, whether he's acting in a movie, or just sitting in front of a camera recanting how things went, this man is a great storyteller. Love him!
I'm sure he is a nice guy as everyone says, but even when he smiles I get chills. If he gave me a dirty look, I think it would kill me, he has such presence as an actor.
He's an outstanding actor, and I thank him for his service, he deserves more recognition, cool video my compliments sir
"No, no. No. With your left foot."
I haven't laughed this hard in a long time.
And that raised eyebrow after he drops the request ;)
Knowing this feet couldn't be accomplished. :) Get it?
The reason he did that is Lewis did a movie about a painter who painted with his left foot. It's what made him famous. It's called, "my left foot".
Scones have great dry humour (Source: I’m Mohawk lol)
Really? That was dumb as shut
What an absolute stud! Loved watching him in films when I was a kid. I wish we had more in Hollywood like him.
So happy to see Wes Studi getting the attention he deserves.
Still this man’s character gives me goosebumps whenever I watch “The last of the Mohicans”...
I can watch LotM over repeatedly and enjoy it every time, Wes was outstanding in the film, his character was focussed and devoid of pity, superb acting…helped make it a classic movie and one of my all time fav.
One of those actors that can sway my decision to see a film or not. Always gives amazing performances.
Last of the Mohicans is in my top 5. I can watch that movie over and over. He played that Magua character so well, I was so happy when he got killed in the end.
His portrayal of Magua in "The Last Of The Mohicans" terrified me, and I wasn't a kid at the time.
Same here. I definitely would’ve stepped off the cliff, too.
True
He played the character of Magua so we'll, that I hated him when he killed Uncas.
I was so much intense watching the movie, that even at the end I felt sad that it ended. I wanted for day's after I watched it, to have lived that life, eventhough it must of been a rough life.
