One Night In Miami - Jim Brown and Malcolm X's thoughts on colorism that still rings true today

- COLIN KAEPERNICK, BLAIR IMANI these were the people I thought about when I first realized the impact of my favorite scene of quite possibly my favorite movie! And it's not just a Black thing (though they seem to talk about it the most, or at least we hear about it that way the most), Asians got it too, South Asians really got it too. It's such a deep thing that other races don't even wanna discuss discussing it!
All rights go to Amazon prime... and her majesty Regina King for directing this masterpiece! - Розваги
Bust Down episode 3 has a deeper, albeit very silly and intensified, take on this.
Kingsley Ben-Adir is only 36 (as of this comment) and he's already got to play Malcolm X, Barack Obama, and Bob Marley in his career. Good for him.
RIP Malcolm X (May 19, 1925 - February 21, 1965), aged 39
And
RIP Jim Brown (February 17, 1936 - May 18, 2023), aged 87
You both will be remembered as legends.
Shit, I had no clue Jim Brown passed away. RIP a legend
Hold up Malcom x was born 1925😂😂😂😂,woooow
Kingsley has incredible range!
This was the most resounding part of the movie for me. As a light-skinned openly militant-minded cat myself, I've been thinking about it for months.. and everyone involved in bringing this scene into fruition is a psychological and perceptive genius.
Same, I haven’t looked at the same since this movie. And then it’s amplified with all these colorism conversations that’s been going on. Like it’s made me wonder where all these lighter famous people stand on this, and if they’re trying to prove something and to who or even themselves.
Amazing how such a small scene can make such an impact on how we think about this.
It's always yall light skinned dudes lmao
Why Darkskin blacks don't do the same, They to busy bashing and critiquing Lightskin blacks
Nah real rap I got chocked up on this part because nobody ever talks about this I’m 29 and mixed race. Brother I got stories on stories of being treated like some outcast hybrid
Jimmy ain't never lied! Black folk don't want to talk about this though. Sickening self loathing.
Proud to be light!!!
Malcolm die for all black ppl, Look at Jim Brown who voted for a racist in Trump
I'm lightskin and we can talk about it ANYTIME!!! From MY perspective to Jim's question bt reverse... why WEREN'T there many of our darker brothas out there being JUST as militant or even more than brothas like Malcolm??? That's always been MY question
@@EricSmith-jo1lt ....I heard that !!!
@@EricSmith-jo1ltcome on bro Dr. Khalid muhammmad was one of the most militant deeply Melanated brothers
Rest In Peace To The Both Of Them.
Brilliant directorial debut from Regina King.
Have you seen her in HBO's Watchmen? Great miniseries, can't recommend it enough.
REST IN POWER Jim Brown Blessings and Hugs 💖💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕!
I honestly noticed that, even before I ever seen this film!!! Many of our yellow brothas in the past, were OUT there... risk their necks for the rest of our ppl and unapologetic about it!!! Truly inspirational
Hell look it’s that way today look at colin kaepernick!
I raise one fist in the air for the brothers.
I think kingsley ben adir will do the Bob Marley role justice. He was great as Malcolm X
My father used to love Bob Marley.
I don’t know how good Ben can pull off the Jamaican accent, but I think he can do the rest of the role well. We’ll see.
I wish they got someone that looked like him but idk if there’s anyone who does
@@AgroFro i think Bob's grandson Skip Marley looks like him but his locs is already long and it would be difficult for him to play bob in his "Catch a Fire" era because Bob had a afro at that time and I'm sure skip wouldn't want to cut his locs just to put on a afro wig lol.
I think kingsley ben adir will be better because he doesn't have locs and they can easily have him portray Bob in different eras in his life.
These 2 must be having this conversation again in heaven
This is not how I expected to find out Jim died, rest in power to a legend 🏈
I doubt this convo took place in real life
Idk if Jim was the one to bring it up, but I do think someone pointed this out at least once. I know for sure people had no reservations about commenting that he was high yellow to Malcolm’s face nor sharing opinions on it.
That being said, regardless of if or how this convo happened, *everything* they’re saying true.
@@OvSpP definitely. No one’s denying that. But like I said, i doubt this took place.
@@unapologeticallyme2060 It probably did malcolms sister talked about his complexion to him
@@OvSpP it's interesting that an Asian person posted this. If I hadn't seen your comment I would've assumed it was a black person or something.
@@DraconusStar who’s to say I’m not both?
Malcom X is Ken!🤔
How did they act this movie if They are indeed dead?
