    I think the little repeating holes made by the yarn over increases for your ruffle and the slight flare at the cast off edge make it look like lace. So pretty!

      I thought so too! Before Emily mentioned it, I was admiring them and wondering how she's achieved them!

    I really like raffia. I mainly crochet my raffia projects. Please read this comment.
    Raffia can get wet because raffia is water-resistant and can be durable in hot weather. However, raffia is not waterproof and can lose its shape if soaked. Perfect for the beach or pool because it dries quickly but don’t soak it in the ocean.
    If you broke your hook go up a size. Your tension might be too tight. And try using the metal hook (maybe a small swatch) the metal glides into the stitches. Wood is grippy and I don’t like the feel of the plastic but I work with the metal hooks+raffia and I love it. But maybe that’s just me-but give it a try next time.
    Thanks for the videos! Lots of fun projects

    Surely you already did, but me (nurse) making sure: Have emergency allergy plan with you on your trip, this includes meds to take (check with Italian customs and stuff), the next hospital and emergency numbers for Italy. Also the names of your allergens in Italian to check the food. In Germany restaurants and bakeries must have a allergene disclosure list - could imagine that also applies for Italy as well.
    Maybe you wonna talk with your doc about that.

      Thank you! It’s always good to share this kind of information. We’ve only been eating at places that have allergen lists and ensure the kitchen sees my chef card. The tricky thing is gelato, but I figured out a checklist that allows me to feel comfy (spatulas for each flavor, the flavors immediately surrounding my top choices, and general neatness of the case with all the flavors; bonus points if they group the non-nut flavors together!)

    What's your go to way to find allergy-safe restaurants when traveling?

    • @highfiberknits

      Great question! I always carry Benadryl and an epipen, plus an infographic with photos and English + country’s primary language(s) translations of all the foods I’m allergic to. Fortunately, a lot of places we’ve been so far in Rome have allergen legends with codes in them for the top 14 allergens and then each menu item is marked with the relevant codes. I also do some research on blogs ahead of time!

    Your hook shouldn’t snap. Probably would have been better to use a 6mm if that happened. Yes, the yarn is stiff but if it was that stiff and tight then a larger hook is called for. Bag looks lovely though!

    • @highfiberknits
      @highfiberknits  Місяць тому

      Thank you for this tip! I did go down from the recommended hook size on the yarn for a dense fabric (which I think I forgot to mention), so it’s certainly on me.

    The holes 16:30 are looking symmetrically and by this intentionally to me.
