@@EliseRoseCrochet I have also used this for washcloths for our household. I have found that it softens up considerably with repeated washings. I have never had a problem with the colors running either. But based on your review, I will definately try the mainstays cotton for my next washcloths.

What you buy now is not Peaches N Cream. The company discontinued the original Peaches and Cream that your Grandmother used then brought out the' stuff' they are selling now. This new 'stuff' is horrible! Seriously, I have wash clothes I crocheted more than 20 years ago with the real Peaches and Cream and they still look new and are soft. I bought one skein of this new stuff. Tore my hands up making a wash cloth. First wash the cloth literally came out looking like I used a bottle of starch on it and tie dyed it. After six months it fell completely apart. I have no idea what this new stuff is but it is not the original Peaches and Cream

The scrubby yarn is a little hard to work with, however, it makes the best pot scrubbers in the world. It cleans so great! It cleans non stick cook wear with no scratches. It works on glass like coffee pot excellently. Try making a scrubby and you will be surprised. Everyone I gift them too always comes back to me for more. ❤

The one thing I like that Peaches and Cream yarn for is when I need something that has no stretch at all. When I make a raglan cardigan, it always feels like it's slipping off my shoulders so if I take the peaches and cream and run a row of slip stitches inside the collar from one side to the other where it's not seen when wearing it, the extra structure really makes the cardigan feel better when wearing and keeps it from slipping around. This might also be a great thing to do on a shoulder seam so that it doesn't stretch out and gives more structure.

5:06 Peaches and Creme is actually one of my favorite yarns to use for washcloths and swiffer covers. It is stiff to work with yes, but it holds up even after a lot of uses and washes. And I have never once had a color bleed in a wash. So not sure where that comes from.

Great Review! Walmart used to be the go to place for all kinds of craft supplies. It’s sad to me that in the past ten years I have seen Walmart decreasing the number of items that they have available for the crafter. Also, the quality of many of the items has gone down. It really helps to know ahead of time whether or not an item is going to be something I want to buy. Reviews like this are sooooo helpful! You have saved us money and time! This is why we love you!

My local Wal/mart has drastically reduced the sewing section to mainly cloth lines and kids craft items. The last time I looked for yarn, all the store had was "Red Hart" yarn in black and a red and metallic gold, during a Christmas sale. I did buy the red/gold yarn to make Christmas themed, loomed potholders, with crocheted fluted edges.

Rose, I bought the beautiful Pioneers Woman crochet hooks about 5 months ago, and what a surprise to me. I looked and I looked at the hooks and could not find the size. Later that same night, I just could not let this go, i thought I had mad a mistake the first time that I had looked them over, so I sat down to give it another go around, I still did not see the hook sizes. Well, I had also bought some markers, I love to color and wanted to try them. Well something told me to stop looking and start feeling. I started feeling the crochet hooks and down at the bottom of the hook I felt an indentation. It felt strange and I couldn’t see anything ,so I took a dark purple marker and started to color all along the bottom where I felt the little marks. Ah-Hah, there was the size, engraved into the hook. You’ll NEVER SEE IT IF YOU’RE JUST LOOKING, BECAUSE IT IS ENGRAVED IN THE WHITE OF THE HOOK, BUT WHEN YOU PUT A MARKER OVER THE BOTTOM OF THE HOOK, THEN JUST GENTLY WIPE SOME OF THE MARKER AWAY, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO BARELY SEE IT. They are beautiful , and they work on some occasions better than a couple of the furls that I have purchased . Thank you also for the yarn reviews because I have been wanting to buy the Peaches and Cream ? I think is what they’re called because there is always a sell on them and they have pretty colors, but now I won’t purchase them, but I did get Premier Snap Dragon and can’t wait to try it. Bye Bye!

Had this same problem with a crochet bag that holds yarn, and supplies! I used a white permanent marker to highlight the size ! Cannot believe manufacturers made these Each needle is a lovely color , it also came with steel needles, they were marked ! Tape measure, scissors, yarn markers, acrylic/ cotton yarn , knitting needle guide, stitch markers, several sizes Pom Pom maker, also stitch holders and plastic sewing needles for yarn ! I cannot remember what I paid for it? Was around $15 a best buys from Temu, I noticed price had gone up now but still worth it , It has cute cat pattern on peach colored bag with dividers ! And is only 7 inches by 8 inches has room for more stuff too! Great for traveling !!!

I knitted 7 scrubby yarn cloths about 2 years back. I haven't bought one of those dish sponges or brushes since then. I have a chain mail scrubber (for cast iron) and these cloths. We wash all our dishes by hand and at the end of each day toss the cloth in the wash and get a new one in the morning. I am not wasting any money on sponges that harbour bacteria and end up in landfill ever again. It's a bit of a beast to knit with. I used a linen stitch to hurry it up, but it's been so worth it.

It was nice to work with at times but a struggle at others. I worked from center cake. It seemed the twist disappeared and flattened out to strings. That's where I had most of splitting issues. I have some tan left over and am thinking of making coasters for coworkers but then there's the struggle of splitting. 🤔 Seriously thinking of tossing that idea.

Perhaps this has been said already BUT….the peaches and cream colors are EXCELLENT for making wash cloths for dishes! Not the scrubbies since they really need the rougher scratchier type yarn. So far they haven’t bled but with some colors I would definitely rinse the item in a weak vinegar and water solution to set the color after I’ve finished crocheting it. I’ve made quite a few dish washcloths with a little loop on one corner and so far there haven’t been any complaints! Anyway just saying……….

Good reviews, your video really brought home the fact that crochet is a very sensory experience. I have inflammation in my hands also, but up until a few years ago I did not realize there was cotton yarn that was actually soft. Sensitive skin is a real thing, as is neuropathy - some of us just can’t. I was actually at a Joann’s last night that had a lot more yarn than normal and I discovered that Red Heart is actually too scratchy for me, and is why I haven’t been making much since buying it for amigurumi. But I’ve blown thru the very nice Japanese chenille yarn I’ve bought, because soft! Thankfully, it looks like Lion makes an extremely nice acrylic that I can get for about $3 on sale for 400-500 ounces, so next year I’ll move my default acrylic to that brand and probably just give my tote of Red Heart away.

I got a tackle box for my sewing supplies because sewing boxes tend to be really cheaply made for how much they want you to pay, most of them just being a tiny thin plastic tray with a couple ridges in an otherwise empty box, and they want $30+ for it. Tackle boxes are cheaper, bigger, and have way more actual storage - and that applies to the pink box here, too. I got one of these and I find the tackle box much more versatile. - Peaches and Cream is pretty good for hat pads and scrubbing pads and items that need to be durable and not worn as clothing. That clear stitch definition is great for when you're making items with single stitch or double thickness crochet. And it's great if you're on a budget and you find that crochet is a pleasant activity to keep busy.
    - You've described the Red Heart Scrubby yarn perfectly. But it's supposed to feel like "spikey plastic" because it's made to make exfoliating pads and dish clothes. I've found that the easiest way to work with it is from the center out and to use single or half-double crochet stitches.
    - Thanks for the reviews of the Pioneer Woman products. I have a friend who's a big fan, so I've been considering getting something as a gift and I was especially impressed by your remarks, since you'd really wanted to like the products.
I'm also wondering about two further points. You described the first set of hooks (the unlabeled ones) as having hard plastic. Did they have any sort of ergonomic shape / comfort grip or would they just be hard on the hands if a user has arthritis? And how durable would you say the case is on the second set?

There is a small section for tape measures. A lift out section who’s has scissors and crochet hooks that I’m currently using on the projects I’m working. Everyone always know I probably have something they need when I’m at the crochet and knitting groups that I belong to.

There was a period of time where this was on an endcap (end of isle in front) as a feature, but right now is back to school season so most endcaps are now all back to school and children’s items

I actually like the Peaches and Cream and don't mind the feel as I am working with it. Makes a great market bag and if the color runs when I wash it (weekly) who cares.....it's just a market bag and will be getting dirty again anyway. If the color runs then it makes it a more unique bag and when my family tries to steal it I know it's mine (haha). Actually softens up with washing as well. The no stretch piece is great for the bag as well or I would over stuff and just buy more items than I need knowing the bag will stretch to hold more products than my budget likes. Basically, her husbands family was participating in what was happening in the movie Killer of The Flower Moon. I dont judge people who like her content/products because almost all rich families participated in displacing indigenous people from their homelands, but as someone whos native its hard for me to support her. Sorry you were disappointed with some of your crochet purchases. Working with cotton yarn is not my thing-it splits too much-but when you were using the scrubby yarn, it looked like you were trying to crochet with barbed wire. If I wanted to make a dishcloth, I’d make it out of the Peaches and Cream-even though the splitting is annoying, it would make a good sturdy dishcloth and you wouldn’t need medical attention for your hands

I \always/ give Peaches and Concrete (coined by Juan the Yarn Addict) a vinagar and Epsom salt soak (30 min+) after finishing a project.
I knit this yarn as crocheting it is a serious struggle (as you found). I even tried running it through my king addi knitting machine thinking it wouldn't take as much time to work up by hand plus having a double knit thick towel/trivet would be a bonus feature. My machine pined and groaned the whole while. It didn't pass all stitches so there was a lot of running stitches back to correct them. My king addi hates (strong word there) concrete cotton too.
I then ran the cotton through my small 24 pro addi and it worked up nicely in the round. It power curled knitting it flat but didn't miss a stitch. I'd either make two tubes and stitch them together lengthwise or make flat and pick up stitches all around and make a mitered rib or garter stitch to help flatten the working. Keep in mind the stitches are loose (like working up on 7-8 mm needles)
There's a red white and blue varigated out there. Not sure if p&c or sugar and something but I knit a small project and gave it a soak. I thought the water would be red upon my return. NOPE!! It was BLUE!!! I was shocked by this. Concrete cotton color dyes cannot be trusted! I bought two cones of r/w/b to make a loose basic beach cover up. Naive I was! Not happenin' capin'! I've knit trivets and bar towels from it as the blue bleeds too much to trust for a garment or coaster. *I could only imagine donning the item with damp bathing suit under and sit leaving blue dye blotches when getting back up.* I wouldn't make a garment from any of it as it's so hard on my hands.
There are so many pretty enticing colors out there. Not all bleed as bad as others. I do \highly/ recommend a strong vinegar/Epsom salt bath with any color and would not leave a wet towel or trivet lay on any surface with the fear of color transfer.
I love your honesty. I love your advice. Thank you for being here. ❤
    My apologies for rambling on.

Sorry but I am really surprised that you didn't know that Peaches and Cream is made specifically for dish clothes or wash clothes or kitchen towels just by the look and feel of the yarn. It is made by Lilys Sugar and Cream which you see at Hobby Lobby, JoAnns, etc.. Have you never seen the scrubby yarn either at the craft store? The scrubby yarn is easier to knit with. It makes a great scrubby. Personally I don't use it, but I dont make scrubbys. I lso only knit with them.Easier to knit with. A simple Google search would have told you that Peaches and Cream is used for making clothes for the kitchen or bathroom, but I am guessing thise arent things you make. The softer cotton is not really goood for them. I love the Mandala yarn. It has great stitch definition when you knit with it. As for thr pioneer Woman yarn. It is awful kinda like Rea Drummond. I am from Oklahoma and have encountered her several times. Not a nice person and very fake. But that is my personal opinion. I know many who love her. Her products are pretty.
