Ended up going with EOTech EXP2-2 and G33 magnifier since i will be using it for sport, recreation shooting and maybe get into competition shooting.
Great review. Really appreicate the comparison between the Sig Tango 1-6x24. I had ordered the Sig on sale but, after watching your review (among others) and finding a few awesome discounts online, decided to go with the NOVA. The NOVA with mount cost me $100 LESS out the door than the Sig with mount. Really excited to see just how bright and accurate this thing is. Thanks again for the detailed review!
I pre-ordered one of these last night (which is something I've never done before) as my first LPVO after watching probably a dozen of your videos. Then this dropped in the morning, I'm glad you like it, makes me feel much better about my pre-order!
I think you probably made the right choice. I also recently got my first lpvo. I was trying to decide between Primary Arms and Swampfox and I went with the Swampfox tomahawk and I'm not sure I made the right choice
@@lomparti no major ones! I'm still getting used to the tighter eyebox of an LPVO compared to my old 1x Cyclops Prism, but that's an LPVO issue, not a Nova specific one. It's a great mid range optic, I normally run it at 5-7 brightness for close up "red dot" shooting, and when doing longer range or more precision, I keep it at a 1 on the brightness because it's just enough to help make the center of the crosshair more precise, especially when shooting at dark colored targets or shot up steel in shadows. There are definitely better LPVO's out there, but dollar for dollar I'm extremely happy with this one.
I love the simple reticle. I got a kiss reticle and love it. Aaaand.....discontinued. Should have bought three. PA, bring it back in green!!! This is a great option (sans green) and will most likely be my next buy. Love your videos.
What an exceptional review and extensive comparison of this LPVO. You went the extra mile to show off its best features, as well as, to identify its limitations. In the end sometimes you have to take on the extra weight and cost to get a better optic. Curious if the Delta Optical Stryker HD 1-6X24 is worth the extra juice vs. going with the Vortex PST.
The Stryker /credo hx/ tango6t sfp are all part of the same family. They will all feel better than this, be fully made in Japan, and offer a more stable image. But at 3 times the cost +, it's up to the end user to see if it's worth maybe 50% more capacity and cool factor over the nova.
I've read that with mil/LEO discount they're around $250 right now, as pre-orders. If you can qualify for the PA mil/LEO discount, this seems like an absolute no-brainer to have on every rifle you own that needs something.
24:17 - Smallbore, You mention that the 50 Yard Range is showing a little bit more shift when viewing the back of the Berm, I believe this is due to most centerfire scopes are rated to be parallax free at 100 Yards and beyond, and some are better than others. Given the price-point of this scope it seems entirely acceptable. Excellent review, Thank You. I keep looking for a possible replacement for my P4xi that I purchased years ago from Optics Planet on a Black Friday Special with an extra $100 Off Coupon, I ended up only paying $325 (EDIT) for the then brand new P4xi. To date I've still not found anything nicer at the same price point. It is currently mounted on my HK91 using the original 30mm HK Mount.

Thanks for doing these reviews in this way. I know its gotta be a lot of work. The more I learn about optics the more is see the ACTUAL differences. In just the short time I've had watching your videos, its helped me understand details that I otherwise wouldn't have been able to understand. I'm a believer that educated discerning customers are one of the main driving forces that make companies have to stay on their game rather than getting complacent and resting on their laurels. Like how PEW Science has helped introduce a desire for better performing suppressors, this kind of content can help open up markets for better performing optics. There HAS to be a market for it in order for companies to make it worth their while to pursue. So lets normalize people wanting GOOD optics.
Let’s be real the sales come here and there but usually the pst is 599$ and the PA nova is 340$ so that’s a major difference for very little difference in performance.
Man! I like this Nova reticle, but 1-6x ain't gonna cut it. Got to have 1-8 , 1-10 or even 2-12 or 3-15 full size. I'm tired of folks saying 10x is good for 1000 yd shooting. My eyesight is great and 10x ain't s**t when trying to hit at 1K.
Did you see that they've recently released this SLX version in 1-10x? And if you have more budget to play with, they also have a PLXc version in 1-8x, with this Nova fiber wire reticle. PA really gives us all the options
Would love to pick one of these up for the M5 I'm building, looks perfect for the application and it's a fing steal at the price! I'm very happy with my SLX MD-25 gen 1 except I wish it had shake awake, but oh well still a great dot for the price especially since they added it to gen 2.
I might replace my optics now. The whole reason I avoided an LPVO is due to the brightness issues most of the more affordable ones have so I went red dot/magnifier and I've been happy with it, but this optic is everything I want. Plus this things very simple and uncluttered reticle speaks to me way more than PAs normal ACSS stuff. They tend to just overdo it on their standard LVPOs.
That’s not what these are meant for imo. It’s best to use along with an offset or piggyback red dot. Lpvo are for being able to reach out so illumination really isn’t a big deal.
Hey, could you please try the Vector Optics Continental 1-6? It's a Chinese SFP LPVO with german glass for a similar pricepoint as this, and also has an option for a fibre illumination reticle. I would be very interested to see how it performs
Watch a few reviews on this scope and like what I see but the one fail that plagues this scope is not having the Christmas tree for windage marks, you have to use Kentucky windage if you are shooting past your 0.
@@Hustler_state I have the tango and just got one of these. Will have to see which one is better, but the tango sure looks great at 6x on a bright sunny day with heavy mirage
The Tango MSR was my first LPVO and I didn't like how busy the BDC reticle. Also the brightness was barely noticeable under the sun here in Florida. The NOVA is exactly what I wanted it to be. Super bright red dot center during the day and a basic mil reticle for long range shots. Only negative is it doesn't come with a mount like the MSR, but the sales and free mount PA sometimes includes with it make that a non issue if you're patient.
@@Bender_B._Rodriguez Yes, you are right. However, they are also charging about a third the price of the Steiner. I think this will be a good option for some people, the Steiner will be a superior option for those willing to pay for it.
I think I’ve decided on the Primary arms. I have a 20” (sort of M16 A4 clone) that I’m needing an optic for. It’s already over 8lbs so I’ll save the $100 or so and save a few ounces as well. Now I have to decide between this reticle or the Aurora (ACOG) reticle… SUPER tough decision.
I have one of those on my AR and it freaking slaps!!! People say it's not as fast as a red dot, but I don't buy it. I got it because my astigmatism makes precision hard, but speed wise, I see no difference in my shooting. And the eye box is so stupidly massive I've not once failed to get it no matter my shooting position or if I'm coming off a transition
@@matthewjohnson2428 Totally agree- Every bit as good as a red dot in my opinion. Eye relief is absurdly long. Crisp, clear, and precise. I believe that PA 1x Cyclops Micro is the most innovative optic that PA has come out with.
An interesting touch is that some, but not all, PA LPVOs have the magnification dial rotate counterclockwise, as the SLx Nova’s does here. This puts the throw lever on the shooter’s left side at 9 o’clock when the magnification is dialed up. And that can be very useful on a bolt action rifle - keeps the throw lever out of the way of working the bolt. Since you will (I submit) almost always have it dialed to at least 2x magnification on a bolt gun - you’re not doing red dot 1x CQB stuff with it - that means the throw lever on the Nova will always be handily out of the user’s way. Yet it’s not the same across the whole PA lineup. The PLx-C used as a comparison here has the dial go the other way, clockwise, like most LPVOs do (in my observation). Interesting difference.
great video buddy. I think you just sold me on this bc I'm in Arizona and really need that bright reticle. The price for an open box model is pretty good and helps me get my feet wet into LPVOs and deciding if I really want to spend the big coin on something better or with more magnification.
I just bought a Nova w/ PA Deluxe mount for $329 delivered with the 13% promo stacked with the 10% Qualified Professional (Military) discount. It’s going to live on a 16” LR308. I wanted a sub 18oz LPVO that will primarily be left on 1x and has a bright , clean reticle. This fit the bill perfect! I also love the 1x lever position!
Idk if the price point is different here. But in canada the pst is over double the cost of the primary arms. So idk how the pst sits in a budget option category
This is probably the best budget LPVO, but the Vortex PST is still what I think the minimum requirement for a fighting rifle LPVO. Much better off saving just a bit longer and have the PST which you wont need upgrade from as quickly, if at all. Also durability the PST is likely better. The brightness of my PST has never been a problem, even in snow. Edit: I love PA and have a few of their scopes: its great to see they are making the market even more competitive.
@@DarthGengarus Yep, hopefully he will find a good way to smash them in a consistent and scientific matter. Only thing missing is durability testing @CDOES lol

I tried one based on your review, seemed nice until I went to mount it. The reticle was canted around 5 degrees. It was not a no questions asked guarantee, they wanted pictures and serial numbers. I said it was already in the box. I'm not doing their job for them. They eventually sent a pre paid return label. Guess I have to pay more for a level reticle. i was about to buy the pst but seen primary arms was having a sale last weekend. i ended up getting the ACSS NOVA for 325 shipped with a mount after 12 percent off. couldnt pass that up. cant wait until it gets here in april.
Great thorough comparison. It's clear that the PST has noticeably sharper image quality, especially off-center, and I prefer the PST's reticle (barring the illumination component). To me the SIG might actually be closer to the PST than the Strike Eagle, although maybe a little darker. All the others seem like a bargain compared to Credo. My question would be, what if you were to compare the PST and PA Nova to the relatively new Venom 1-6X24 LPVO and the Swampfox Arrowhead?
Would love to see a review of the Element 2-16x50. Building a bolt gun with the Savage nut system with a Zermatt receiver that has interchangeable bolt heads. It seems like that range would be perfect for most barrel changes.

I considered for a long time about getting the 1-4 or 1-6 LPVO for my 5.56. Ended up going with EOTech EXP2-2 and G33 magnifier since i will be using it for sport, recreation shooting and maybe get into competition shooting.
The direction of throw for the magnification is a very welcome change! No more throw lever occluding your peripheral vision at 1x!
I just got this delivered today and am SHOCKED at how amazing the Fiber Optic red dot is. Its on par on brightness with my EoTech!!!! holy shizzzz.
She bright
Great review. Really appreicate the comparison between the Sig Tango 1-6x24. I had ordered the Sig on sale but, after watching your review (among others) and finding a few awesome discounts online, decided to go with the NOVA. The NOVA with mount cost me $100 LESS out the door than the Sig with mount. Really excited to see just how bright and accurate this thing is. Thanks again for the detailed review!
👍 How'd it workout for you?
I pre-ordered one of these last night (which is something I've never done before) as my first LPVO after watching probably a dozen of your videos. Then this dropped in the morning, I'm glad you like it, makes me feel much better about my pre-order!
I did as well as my first LPVO, so hoping it's worth the wait!
I think you probably made the right choice. I also recently got my first lpvo. I was trying to decide between Primary Arms and Swampfox and I went with the Swampfox tomahawk and I'm not sure I made the right choice
Im thinking about getting it as my first lpvo too. 8 months later...any regrets?
Best optic reviews anywhere. Thank you, Sir!
Based on my research with no experience behind the delta, it is.
@@Kevin117 Thanks for you insight.
The Stryker /credo hx/ tango6t sfp are all part of the same family. They will all feel better than this, be fully made in Japan, and offer a more stable image. But at 3 times the cost +, it's up to the end user to see if it's worth maybe 50% more capacity and cool factor over the nova.
@CDOES i think he wanted to compare with the Vortex PST, not the nova
I've read that with mil/LEO discount they're around $250 right now, as pre-orders. If you can qualify for the PA mil/LEO discount, this seems like an absolute no-brainer to have on every rifle you own that needs something.
305 with mil discount
214 shipped for me
$225 before tax for me, with discount. Not sure why the price discrepancy.
@@AgamemnonTWC Same price as I get with a mil discount. Might be dependent on which first responder you are I guess.
Yup got mine with LEO discount. That puts it cheaper than crap like Sightmark.
I got this on sale through OP and $300 shipped!!! It's my first LPVO and from a RDS guy I hope I'm not disappointed, although for the price and the capabilities I think I may be!
I got mine for $218, I couldn’t not buy it.
@@michaelr130 I know right 👍 I got mine for about 280 shipped, just have 1 week until it's supposed to ship, I've been so nervous.,.I've learned hunting Scopes then red dots every since I grew up, I never had a 1x before so I'm hoping it's kinda like a red dot but can have magnification and at 6x range and shoot to 500 fairly easily,.,. Have you got yours yet?
@@ThePatriotParadox yea mine wasn’t suppose to be here until April but I got it around the 3rd week in March’s I love it. It’s about 99 percent as good on 1x as a red dot. Super bright and has great eye relief so you can easily run it fast and shoot it both eyes open. I got a Warne QD mount for in case I want to play with it on some different firearms. Taking longer for Warne to get that shit to me then it did the scope.
@@michaelr130 damn....I had $400 dollars on my optics planet account so I ordered from them, you must've got from Primary Arms. Optics Planet can be fast sometimes, and slow sometimes as well.... You got me so excited hearing from someone about it, mines supposed to ship next Friday, they getting them in beginning next week...... Now I'm picking out a mount, thinking about a QD from Warne but probably a 1.75 badger Ordinance. You got me hyped.... building out my GPR 13.9"
Was trying to decide between the nova and the msr tango 6. Bc it’ll be my first lpvo and I don’t have a mount. Is the PA free mount good enough?
Yes! I await with interest.
Let’s be real the sales come here and there but usually the pst is 599$ and the PA nova is 340$ so that’s a major difference for very little difference in performance.
I love Primary Arms! My go to for anything that they might carry… we have to support the businesses that support us! And they do!
Yeah, I might be going out on a limb here, but I don’t believe PA ever intended for the SLX Nova to be used as a 1000 yd precision scope.
This would definitely not be my choice for 1000 yard rifle. I have an older Leupold Mark 4 6.5 x 20 that is great for 1000 plus yards/meters.
Would love to pick one of these up for the M5 I'm building, looks perfect for the application and it's a fing steal at the price! I'm very happy with my SLX MD-25 gen 1 except I wish it had shake awake, but oh well still a great dot for the price especially since they added it to gen 2.
Just bought one of these bad boys. Getting excited watching this video
just ordered this will be my first Lpvo. So if it’s not for me it’s not gonna break the bank
Great video 😎👍🏻
Just bought one and love it. It's a major step up from lpvos of the past. 5 years ago they could see this for $800
Agreed
I might replace my optics now. The whole reason I avoided an LPVO is due to the brightness issues most of the more affordable ones have so I went red dot/magnifier and I've been happy with it, but this optic is everything I want. Plus this things very simple and uncluttered reticle speaks to me way more than PAs normal ACSS stuff. They tend to just overdo it on their standard LVPOs.
That’s not what these are meant for imo. It’s best to use along with an offset or piggyback red dot. Lpvo are for being able to reach out so illumination really isn’t a big deal.
@@starxlord9856lmao
Hey, could you please try the Vector Optics Continental 1-6? It's a Chinese SFP LPVO with german glass for a similar pricepoint as this, and also has an option for a fibre illumination reticle. I would be very interested to see how it performs
Vortex need to do a gen 2.5 update on the PST with a better ranging bdc reticle like the NOVA.
Watch a few reviews on this scope and like what I see but the one fail that plagues this scope is not having the Christmas tree for windage marks, you have to use Kentucky windage if you are shooting past your 0.
get the gen4 with the Aurora reticle then - its more useful for wind holds and BDC
@@merlin593 that defeats the purpose, don't like that reticle in the g2
This or the sig tango ?
Exactly what I'm wondering.
@toddminett7561 I did the this. Very happy. The tango is also very nice tho. Don't think you'd be bummed either way
@@Hustler_state I have the tango and just got one of these.
The new plx-c 1-8 nova SFP needs a review
I would like to see that one as well.
Solid review and I will likely buy one just to have one as a backup. I'm just super stoked that PA is listening to us. I
They copied the p4xi, added 2 magnification and didnt add an off inbetween the illumination settings.
@@Bender_B._Rodriguez Yes, you are right. However, they are also charging about a third the price of the Steiner. I think this will be a good option for some people, the Steiner will be a superior option for those willing to pay for it.
@@sissydreams7494 that's why I said they ripped it off
You are best optic reviewer in yt
His looks perfect for my ruger lc. Been looking for a small scope that dont weigh to much and is way to long.
Do you have a review of the Arken EP-8?
Nope
@@CDOES Thanks! Great video reviews.
How hard is it to use this for close quarters compared to rmr? Is it worth the potential loss of target acquisition speed (if any)?
Very effective at 1x, especially with a good cheek weld. The illumination makes it much easier
EXCELLENT review and so many good details. Thank you!
Their 1x prisms are like looking into the sun on high brightness. I love those little optics.
@@ConiferD Not mine - I/ have 3 and they have taken a beating
Its got some great stuff going for it.
Anyway that 13℅ code is active?
@@MrTedeschi7 it doesn’t look like it. I’m sure Black Friday will be the next time to grab one
Idk if the price point is different here. But in canada the pst is over double the cost of the primary arms. So idk how the pst sits in a budget option category
For clarity the primary arms is 500-550 before tax and the pst is 1150-1250 before tax
How does it work for people with astigmatism? Does it bloom/distort just like a red dot?
This is probably the best budget LPVO, but the Vortex PST is still what I think the minimum requirement for a fighting rifle LPVO.
Much better off saving just a bit longer and have the PST which you wont need upgrade from as quickly, if at all. Also durability the PST is likely better.
The brightness of my PST has never been a problem, even in snow.
Edit: I love PA and have a few of their scopes: its great to see they are making the market even more competitive.
I’ve been wondering how this compares directly to the pst, to date the pst is the only lvpo I’ve ever been happy with. Just a heavy optic for sure.
He has a comparison of the pst
@@DarthGengarus Yep, hopefully he will find a good way to smash them in a consistent and scientific matter. Only thing missing is durability testing @CDOES lol
if the vortex pst gen 2 is suppose to be a budget lpvo, here in Canada they currently go for over 900$ up to 1200$, not budget in Canada
Hot Damn. That is Deep into Razor money.
Another great review. Not to be a hater or anything, but devoting 40 minutes to a video is a little tough. I watched your explanation and understand why. I just have to get used to watching in segments now, lol. Thanks for doing what you do.
Prices must have changed a lot in thr last month. I couldn't find a PST with a mount anywhere close to 500. Maybe used on ebay.
The Pew Pews made the video!! Loved it! Great Review Thank you!
How do you not have more followers? This channel has quality reviews and information.
I always come to your page for these types of reviews!
I'd prefer a non Chinary arms scope anyway but fell for the hype.
That was alot to take in ! Great video
Are you going to get your hands on the new Glx 3-18 and 4.5-27 soon??
Nice. I've been waiting for this one! Thank you, sir!
Oh hell yes I’m so excited to stay in bed this morning and watch this!
Awesome coverage once again. Did you ever have a look at the Vector Optics Continental 1-6x24 (german glass afaik)? They seem to be quite similar
I’ve been eyeing this for a while thank you.
Love my 1-4 pst I bought a million years ago. It's been through hell and back in 3gun matches. The illumination in it sucks though.
Already pre-ordered their new 5x Micro Prism and theyre going to release a vertical RDS mount to go over it sometime this year.....more than excited.
Finally a daylight bright primary Arms. Ordered 2 already 🤘🏻
Love the channel as a new subscriber and absolutely love this optic. Super excited to get one in as I had to buy something a little nicer for the lady due to my purchase on Valentine’s Day for myself lol. Let’s hope they get shipped soon!!! Great video.
Hi C Brian here from NH. I bought the Primary Arms Nova I had a rail and the scope mounted by a very good gun smith,he mounted the rail on a bridgeport and its perfect. I really like my new scope my brother has the Sig Tango and he said he likes mine much better. I had it mounted on my 870 express magnum 18 inch rifled barrel. Thanks so much for the vid you did on the Nova, its the reason I bought it. I would like to send you a pic of my shotgun with the Nova on it. Let me know how to send the pic to you and agian thanks for the awesome content. Best Reguards Brian. 👍
Lol, glad you included the comparison in this review. I’m moving my PST Gen 2 to an AR10 build because it’s heavy already, so who cares? When my SLx Nova comes in, it will be going on the AR15 that my PST II will be vacating.
Great review as always, thanks much.
Well done, sir. Valid comparisons & great info.
Great review. Very interesting option I will likely try out!
Finally, I've been waiting. I'm really thinking of going back to an LPVO for my setup, this thing looks perfect. The MILS line great with load I save up
I have the 1-8 SLX, its good from 1 to about 7.2X, after that the eye box gets super tight and unless you in the perfect spot it gets blurry
i was about to buy the pst but seen primary arms was having a sale last weekend. i ended up getting the ACSS NOVA for 325 shipped with a mount after 12 percent off. couldnt pass that up. cant wait until it gets here in april.
That’s what I’m waiting for. Thanks
Thanks for giving this a look
2-16 would be amazing for a SPR
I really appreciate these videos man! I need to make a decision for a new build and your first person views are incredible...Thank you.
i wish they do this NOVA reticle with MRAD instead of MOA
The nova uses MILs not MOA.
How does the brightness of the Delta Stryker HD 1-6 compare to this scope?
Excellent video!!! Well done!!!😎
36:25 I’ve seen an Aero lightweight mount on sale for $69
