If you ask me the PA SLX-1-8x ACSS 2nd focal plane LPVO is already a better option than the razor. 2nd FP makes much more sense for a scope under 10x imo.
Great vid C I really enjoy the “all in one” longer video format Getting behind and using some lpvo’s for the first time last couple of months, I can appreciate your content so much more Keep up the excellent work!
Primary Arms has really impressed me with their scopes. The glass quality suffers just a little in comparison to scopes significantly more expensive, but that really only becomes a factor at dawn and dusk. Once into the actual night I feel like it doesn't really matter. If there's enough artificial light for a high end scope to work, it's enough light for a lower end scope to work just based on contrast. If there's no artificial light, well you can't see anything with any scope.
Everything has its pros and cons when viewed properly. This is not without its flaws. But it's reasonably accepted for its price, build quality, and weight.
Best optics reviewer on UA-cam. You have not only changed the game but now others are actually giving optic reviews with a look through the optic itself. No more going off the reviewers word. Thank you for that.
This is what I've been asking for. Argos BTRgII comes close, just want better build, glass, turrets, and more refined reticle. PA applying this to a 2x12 would indeed be amazing.
The production value of your reviews sets a whole new standard! The meticulous breakdown, attention to detail should be a case study on how these should be done! Thanks for the review-definitely helped me in my decision to finally pull the trigger on the PLX line.
I have the prior version of the platinum one to eight and it’s one of the two or three best scopes. I have certainly the best lpvo I’ve ever tried only downside it was heavy, but I had everything else totally clear, daylight bright, amazing reticle
Your thoughts mimic my own. I run mine on a 16" AR-10 with a piggybacked RDS. I leave the PLXc at about 4/5x. It really shines there While the RDS is best for CQB. If I'm prone, then I can crank the magnification, but offhand it's difficult above 6x. Total package with the Reptilia mount is still dainty compared to a Razor.
I totally agree a 2-12 is an excellent middle ground. the 2 options I've found on the market are the Athlon Helos BTR 2-12 gen 2 and the Swampfox Kentucky Long 2-12. I think that both are good options and are at similar price points. I would love to see a direct comparison between the two on your channel.

Absolutely fantastic video, brother! I truly appreciate all the work you do to review such a wide variety of more common (budget friendly) and rare high end (big $$$$) scopes. The direct comp with the SAI-6 was so interesting to me. Shows how incredibly next level the glass is on the SAI (imho). Looking forward to more bro. Cheers!
Great review. Love your format. Primary Arms is doing great things in the industry - truly disruptive and I appreciate them for that. It feels like PA listens to their end users (or maybe just uses some actual experience/logic) about 5x most other optic companies. So many SMH designs out there yet PA knocks it out of the park almost all of the time, even on their Chinesium stuff.
Chromatic Aberration was present 17:37, 20:03, however negligible for its purpose, it's there. The only way it gets eliminated is the use of Sapphire lens with higher RI but that'll increase weight and $$$ of course.

The illum cutting out on the leupold is a feature, it let's you know your off center and therefore you know you are minimizing parallax at distance if it's lit up
Thanks for the review great job, although an 8x with a practically unusable 8x is a major bummer regardless of it's design. It's a 1-8x. May as well just buy a 1-5 or 6.

On my plx c, I get a weird reticle reflection even on low brightness setting when wearing glasses. Almost like two horseshoe reticle connected to the center reticle. I get it sometimes without glasses on as well. Not sure if it’s a deal breaker yet
The only reason all these good reviews haven't driven me to impulse buy one of these is the 24mm objective. So glad PA is still using 1990s-era ideas on that one part of the scope, because everything else looks amazing. Thanks for the great reviews, as always, C_Does!
Did some research on objectives based on your comment. You might be onto something, though I wonder whether it's laziness or lack of technology that hinders...
If you go bigger on the front objective (28mm 30mm) you need more exotic optical formulas and glass compositions to reduce distortion at 1X. A 2lb, $3k scope for a tiny bit more light gathering ability is one way to go. Or still spend $3k but sacrifice eye box / FOV etc for weight. Another way is to forget LPVOs and get a 1.5X-X or 2X-X and mount a reflex sight on top of it for 1X. You’ll end up with a similar cost and weight but with a massively bigger objective, much better light gathering, a better eye box at higher magnification, parallax adjustment… This is one of the most optically modern LPVOs available it’s just that the design parameters are relatively modest and realistic: “a red dot that can zoom in” not a proper scope that also happens to also be a red dot”
@@tonyd9799 Then it sounds like we are still underdeveloped in those technologies, then. But when colleges are full of commies, of course developments suffer.
I really wish that primary arms would have used something like the nova reticle in this optic. Had they done that this choice would be a no brainer. between this and the razor 1-6 what would be your pick? the extra 2x doesn't make a whole lot of difference as most my shooting is 300yds and in. and the weight difference for me doesn't sway me one way or the other. appreciate all your content.
13:50 shows one of my gripes with this scope. I didn’t notice it in those video before I purchased mine, but if my head is ever so slightly off in the small eyebox, the reticle pulls/doubles. Look at the vertical ranging bars and you’ll see what im talking about.
When he’s doing the shooting test.. the ‘pew pew’ that has to be a reference to Danny DeVito in ‘Its Always Sunny…’ when they are at Laser Tag.. pew pew 😅
I wonder what this thing in a 34mm tube would be like? I too would love to see a solid 2-12x would be great, I really just wish the credo 2-10x didn’t have its issues but because that thing has the ideal reticle imo for that type of optic.
I think you may have been a little too nice on this. You didn't cover the door frames or windowsills not lining up like you normally would. I had a feeling the eyebox was too tight on this one, and it was. I can't run it like that, I'm about to pitch the Razor Gen III for this reason. Looks like I'm going to be getting a SAI 6, and an ATACR 1-8. Thanks for getting it out and saving me from being upset with it. The 8x is too fuzzy, and the eyebox is not where it's at.
I returned my plx 1-8 because the eyebox was very tight at 8x, and more tight than the sai 1-6 overall. What’s the point of 8x if it’s not very usable? Still have my sai 1-6 but I’m considering getting rid of it since I’m not convinced lpvos are for me. I piggyback a t2 so a mpvo seem s better for me with the exception that a lpvo gives me a backup 1x sighting system.
@@MexicanNinja82 I still appreciate it, but I would be worried about depriving you of the optic and I'm super careful with things that aren't mine/would be worried I would scratch it or something. Then my father would teleport to wherever I am just to give me whoopins for not listening to him lol.
Have you seen the dark lord of optics review? Just another knowledgeable opinion. I am really impressed with my copy, I have not noted and fuzziness at the top end. The eye box is tight but that just a trade off made to keep it so small and light. Fov and eyebox are much better than the nx8 which I would say is the main competitor.
That is awesome. I love primary arms. I love their products at their price point. But at $1500 I would buy a trijicon. Now... I have said that before about Holosun VS trijicon and I now how Holosuns on my carry gun over the RMR just because of the battery accessibility and the solar backup.
What’s up C ? I’ve been shooting for years in all different exercises and guns. I’ve just recently decided to rescope my AR . I really appreciate your dedication toward scope reviews!!! My choice before coming to your channel was the primary arms GLX FFP 1-6 x24 ACSS Raptor -M6. I haven’t received it yet , but already wishing I didn’t order it. May even send it back before I mount it. I sure would like to know what your go to , best scope in FFP would be. Anyway thanks again for your great work !! PS. Did you ever do a review on Burris XTR II 1-5-24 ?
AWESOME Review! I have a HK SL8 and need a scope. I was thinking of getting a Trijicon Credo 1-8x28mm (with the 34mm tube, but not the HD model). I also wanted the Swampfox 2-12x44mm Kentucky Long; however, the large objective lens and necessary high mounting on a stupidly high rifle rail might be a problem. Any suggestions?
As always, good review. I am undecided whether to go with this lpvo or the vortex razor 1-6!!!!! Both are same price range. Honest question, what would you get? Razor or this one?
Depends on the roles, and personal preference. Its a really hard decision between those two for me to answer without knowing the setup and intended use case.
@@ChappySinclair Nothing yet. Being patient for the right scope for me and my setup. Viper pst II 1-6 has been 100% solid, though lacks capability at 400+ that I want. Top contender is actually the Leupold mk4hd 2.5-10. Just waiting for pr2 reticle, but that may be forever.
@@ChappySinclair I've seen both now. They are honestly both excellent. If that is what is the best for your setup, and you understand the trade-offs', you won't be disappointed in either. I realized i wanted more glass and magnification, especially with a offset/12' red dot. The trade off with weight and size it worth it to me and where I shoot 95% of the time.
I have two of these on two DD AR15's (Raptor Reticle). I have them for about 2-3 months on Badger Ordnance mounts. I also have offset red dots on both setups. Anyway.......The PLX 1-8x is just a great optic and it was money well spent. I actually purchased both them before there was too much info on it. Of late I have seen several excellent reviews from some YT'ers that I really respect their opinion. CDoes being one of them for certain. The use of the Chevron Reticle make this optic fairly easy to use. PA just did a great job. I have read some comments that say "it not being day light bright makes it a non starter". I dont understand that logic but to each their own I guess. I believe its plenty bright enough, and to be honest I dont have the illumination on 95% of the time. The 4 heavy lines leading to the center reticle make it easy to use without being daylight brigh. I know I will probably be in the minority with this opinion, but shortly after I bought these I was able to look behind a Vortex Razor 1-10x LPVO. I just was not impressed with that at all. Again to each their own. Bottom line is if you are thinking about getting this optic - I believe you will be really happy with the purchase.
I'd love to see a PLX second focal plane 1-6 or 8. I have this compact scope and its amazing, but i wonder what they could do with a top quality sfp scope.
How would I go about getting in touch with you if I wanted to send you my unopened NF nx8 1-8 w/ FC-Dmx reticle to review/compare to this? I wouldn’t be asking for anything in return, not even a shoutout or anything lol. You have such good quality videos and I just would love to see how it stacks up.
How does the eye relieve compare to a strike eagle and the razor? I have the strike eagle 1x8 but it’s hard to use with such a tight eye relief. The gen 2 razor is better but I don’t like it or the reticle. Thank you I appreciate your feedback.

So anyway, I started Blasting!
I wonder what this thing in a 34mm tube would be like? I too would love to see a solid 2-12x would be great, I really just wish the credo 2-10x didn’t have its issues but because that thing has the ideal reticle imo for that type of optic.
Will you do a review on the PLXC SFP NOVA??? need the comparison to help make up my mind
@@benoswald9431 the full review is on the way!
Good timing, right as I have one loaded in my cart trying to make a decision
My offer still stands brotha, I’ll send you mine to do your review.
Thought about trying some mvpo's since lvpos were cancelled by metoo? CDoes likes the swampfox kentucky long
I've been looking forward to this...
The first responder price for the PLXc drops down to $1,099 so I think it’s an absolute must if you have that.
is that if you buy from primary arms?
@@wcsdiariesyes
So love mine. It is on my HCS Mk12 now. May get another.
That is awesome. I love primary arms. I love their products at their price point. But at $1500 I would buy a trijicon. Now... I have said that before about Holosun VS trijicon and I now how Holosuns on my carry gun over the RMR just because of the battery accessibility and the solar backup.
Pew! Pew, pew pew!
Thank you for being your genuine self.
@C_does any short thoughts on plxc nova? Have the slx now
What’s up C ? I’ve been shooting for years in all different exercises and guns. I’ve just recently decided to rescope my AR . I really appreciate your dedication toward scope reviews!!! My choice before coming to your channel was the primary arms GLX FFP 1-6 x24 ACSS Raptor -M6. I haven’t received it yet , but already wishing I didn’t order it. May even send it back before I mount it. I sure would like to know what your go to , best scope in FFP would be. Anyway thanks again for your great work !!
PS. Did you ever do a review on Burris XTR II 1-5-24 ?
Another great in-depth review and a nice looking optic thanks
here for the pews
Been waiting on this C_DOES review
Can you get yours hands on the Steiner 1-6 KC-1?
Excellent review as usual. Will you review a Eotech Vudu 1-10?
Fantastic review!
Been waiting for your review on this C. I'm between this and the updated NX8 -1-8
When you going to do the 1-8 Nova reticle?
The fact they have a life time warranty is The major selling point for me. I just ordered this thing. It better be good as it cost more than my rifle.
any time frame for a review on the new plxc nova?
Brother been following you for a minute, keep it up!
The Pew Pew is classic...I think you got them all in the garage bro. Good hunting.
I was waiting for this one, I literally just bought this exact LPVO.
PLEASEEEEEEEEEE PRIMARY! Please give us a 2-12 that is light weight! 🙏
Well done video sir. Ty
I'd love to see a PLX second focal plane 1-6 or 8. I have this compact scope and its amazing, but i wonder what they could do with a top quality sfp scope.
Good job!
Very serious and honest
Thanks u sir
Great review as always. Any plans on doing the vudu 1-10 in the future?
Pew pew, pew pew. Lol 😅😅my favorite part
Another excellent video. Thanks.
Great review, thank you
Aimpoint needs to take notes on packaging! I thought I ordered a knock off when my m5s arrived. Very nice optic, even better video!
@C_DOES ^^^^^^^
How does the eye relieve compare to a strike eagle and the razor? I have the strike eagle 1x8 but it’s hard to use with such a tight eye relief. The gen 2 razor is better but I don’t like it or the reticle.
Thank you I appreciate your feedback.
