@@GaryEats Fallows in London ought to be a place you try out. They do a lot of videos on UA-cam so you can preview what is happening there. I think you'd love it. I've never been much less have any skin in the game there. They do a chicken pie with the chickens neck and head rising above the pie. Its not cheap but not Michelin Star prices.
It is a gimmick. If you’re looking to get into a bar fight then this is the place to go. Full of hotheads waiting to see you look in their direction so they can start on you. Garys lucky he went in during the day when its quiet.

Iv heard that Conor keeps the prices lower compared to other celebrity restaurants so that people who make less money can enjoy a good meal but not break the bank, how true that is I don't know. I'm sure the owner had input when hiring as he was putting his reputation at stake if he chose badly , the chef deserves recognition but the owner has more to lose financially and his credibility so not the chef that makes a place but a good one will earn a decent wage if he or she continues to pull the punters in.

6 euro for a pint of stout in Dublin is a crazy good price. Considering I paid near on 8 for a pint of lager in London and Dublin has never been cheap.
Very fair review Gary. I've seen reviews of Conor's place before, especially by Irish reviewers, and they were more reviewing Conor and his politics and personality rather than his pub. They could not hide their bias. Fair play for giving your unbiased opinion on the place.

Absolutely agree. It looked quality, with ample food, nobody's going home hungry. The price seems very affordable to me compared to other restaurants. As a special treat... looks yummy!
That’s not good value at all even for a high-end (Dublin) restaurant. You also have to consider that this is located outside the city centre so prices should be lower than in the heart of the city centre with the cost of rent is much higher.
Fabulous review Gary, yes it warrants a Michelin star status. McGregor definitely went the extra distance to elevate an Irish pub. Those hot wings looked amazing and that lamb was your favorite I see. This is the standard that all famous/celebrity restaurants should strive towards.
Happened to me a few times in my career,It certainly makes your day. Also never forget the rest of the team and that includes front of house. It's a team game.

Was taken to the black forge by a colleague 2 weeks ago, drank way too many stouts. The food however, was outstanding. I couldn’t fault it, had the wings and a steak which was amazing. Good to see someone doing proper food reviews instead of the normal boring reviews we get.

The whole grilled chili on the plate is really neat. It's entirely optional, but if you wan't to kick it up a notch heat wise - it's right there. They can plate it the same way for every order regardless of the customers preference or tolerance, and everybody's happy.
Frankly I really like Colin McGregor anyway, To hear about his restaurant being so good is no surprise to me. Glad you enjoyed it, it looked fantastic. Now Im gonna have ham egg and chips, :)
Gary your not the only one who has said this several reviewers have said this is a nice place good service and a nice place to go to he also gave his chef a nice gift for his birthday it shows I don’t know much about Conor but these people are certainly working with him not for him a big difference and I think he needs credit for this food looked exceptional
What a fantastic establishment. I loved the menu - some great dishes to choose from. I tend to avoid chicken wings, not really my bag. I would have liked to have them served buffalo wings instead, more meat, fewer wings = less faff! Lamb’s always my choice too, and it looked spectacular, and clearly tasted so. For the money and location, it’s just shy of a 10, but a good 9.5 in my book. I can’t tell you enough how much your excellent videos provide such great entertainment, and escapism given that I’m housebound. And it’s so heartwarming to see the incredible supportive comments made to the gentleman who is fighting cancer. 💙 It really demonstrates what a fine community you’ve created with your channel. It’s a testament to your warm, easy, and inimitable style, that we all love so much. You deserve all the success that is coming, Gary. 🙏🏻

I am an ex-pat Irish man who has been living in Doha for 15 years now. I am just back from Dublin this evening (arrived at 12.30am on the 3.00pm Qatar Airways flight from Dublin) visiting my wife who lives there and, on the strength of Gary's trip to Black Forge, I went with my son and stepson for lunch on Wednesday (2 days ago) and must admit the place was amazing. The Bao Bum starter was unreal and the Sirloin served 'blue' on the stone was perhaps one of the best steaks I have ever eaten. Arriving just seared and genuinely 'blue', the steak cooks on a seriously hot slab of stone and can be brought to rare, medium or well done just by letting it stay on - or you can remove it at any time to suit your taste. A couple of bottles of excellent wine (NOT including a bottle of Petrus at Euro 17,500.00 which I stress I did not sample but is from Conor's own collection) paired well with the food and the service was exceptional. We sat at a high table beside the bar and attention to our needs was superb. Great review of a quality establishment from Gary that I can now vouch for, encapsulates a first class dining experience that I will definitely return to next trip back to the Emerald Isle.

Good to see somewhere selling champ (mashed potatoes and spring onions). When last in Dublin I was served mashed potatoes with leeks and they argued it was champ, being Irish it was clear they made a concoction of mash plus whatever veg they had to hand.
I went the black forge a couple of years ago with my brothers. We popped in for a pint of the stout. Unfortunately they were fully booked but after seeing this I’d definitely go to go back and try the food!
Everyone including Gary needs to lighten up, so what if he said Colin, Connor, Colm or fking Nigel, and Gary, for you to say 'is that all you got from this video' suggests an ego above the content on offer, you eat some food and say it's nice or not so nice, it's hardly the cutting edge content that I've come to expect from the CERN or NASA channels, lighten up and switch the ego off.

I believe its a mistake to get spicey wings as a starter, particularly buffalo wings. As much as i love them the flavor is normally so sharp and spicey everything you eat afterwards tastes bland! Ive never enjoyed a dish straight after wings....
seldom does a dish seen on the screen leave me salivating as your entree here did, wow- truly superlative all around. conor is a very divisive figure in mma, largely for his antics and personality, but widely-attributed as the reason for its current massive mainstream success (it was already big before him, but he took it over the top)- i (and i think every mma fan) was a big fan of his early, coming-up, days, "mystic mac". nice to see him do so well outside of the octagon with all his ventures- the black forge inn looks like a real passion project gone right, great team, great food... really glad to see it not be just another celebrity money-grab- respect for not plastering his name directly on it.
What is very interesting is he is in this pub on many occasions, he likes to ensure that quality is served to everybody which I think is fantastic. Also after doing this, he actually sent me a message which I thought was very good of him

Absolutely agree. It looked quality, with ample food, nobody's going home hungry. The price seems very affordable to me compared to other restaurants. As a special treat... looks yummy!
That’s not good value at all even for a high-end (Dublin) restaurant. You also have to consider that this is located outside the city centre so prices should be lower than in the heart of the city centre with the cost of rent is much higher.
If the food is excellent quality, especially Lamb, its worth it imp
Fabulous review Gary, yes it warrants a Michelin star status. McGregor definitely went the extra distance to elevate an Irish pub. Those hot wings looked amazing and that lamb was your favorite I see. This is the standard that all famous/celebrity restaurants should strive towards.

I've been to the Black Forge afew times. While Conor is bit of a muppet the place is great. The food, staff, beer, layout, cleanliness all top notch.

Was taken to the black forge by a colleague 2 weeks ago, drank way too many stouts. The food however, was outstanding. I couldn’t fault it, had the wings and a steak which was amazing. Good to see someone doing proper food reviews instead of the normal boring reviews we get.
This is a restaurant I’d highly recommend as you can testify 💯👌🇮🇪

The whole grilled chili on the plate is really neat. It's entirely optional, but if you wan't to kick it up a notch heat wise - it's right there. They can plate it the same way for every order regardless of the customers preference or tolerance, and everybody's happy.
It really adds to the presentation and with the food as well, It was absolutely delicious

What a fantastic establishment. I loved the menu - some great dishes to choose from.
I tend to avoid chicken wings, not really my bag. I would have liked to have them served buffalo wings instead, more meat, fewer wings = less faff!
Lamb’s always my choice too, and it looked spectacular, and clearly tasted so.
For the money and location, it’s just shy of a 10, but a good 9.5 in my book.
I can’t tell you enough how much your excellent videos provide such great entertainment, and escapism given that I’m housebound. And it’s so heartwarming to see the incredible supportive comments made to the gentleman who is fighting cancer. 💙

I am an ex-pat Irish man who has been living in Doha for 15 years now. I am just back from Dublin this evening (arrived at 12.30am on the 3.00pm Qatar Airways flight from Dublin) visiting my wife who lives there and, on the strength of Gary's trip to Black Forge, I went with my son and stepson for lunch on Wednesday (2 days ago) and must admit the place was amazing. The Bao Bum starter was unreal and the Sirloin served 'blue' on the stone was perhaps one of the best steaks I have ever eaten. Arriving just seared and genuinely 'blue', the steak cooks on a seriously hot slab of stone and can be brought to rare, medium or well done just by letting it stay on - or you can remove it at any time to suit your taste. A couple of bottles of excellent wine (NOT including a bottle of Petrus at Euro 17,500.00 which I stress I did not sample but is from Conor's own collection) paired well with the food and the service was exceptional. We sat at a high table beside the bar and attention to our needs was superb. Great review of a quality establishment from Gary that I can now vouch for, encapsulates a first class dining experience that I will definitely return to next trip back to the Emerald Isle.

Good to see somewhere selling champ (mashed potatoes and spring onions). When last in Dublin I was served mashed potatoes with leeks and they argued it was champ, being Irish it was clear they made a concoction of mash plus whatever veg they had to hand.

I went the black forge a couple of years ago with my brothers. We popped in for a pint of the stout. Unfortunately they were fully booked but after seeing this I’d definitely go to go back and try the food!

I felt a 9 was fair reflection of the meal.

I believe its a mistake to get spicey wings as a starter, particularly buffalo wings. As much as i love them the flavor is normally so sharp and spicey everything you eat afterwards tastes bland! Ive never enjoyed a dish straight after wings....

seldom does a dish seen on the screen leave me salivating as your entree here did, wow- truly superlative all around. conor is a very divisive figure in mma, largely for his antics and personality, but widely-attributed as the reason for its current massive mainstream success (it was already big before him, but he took it over the top)- i (and i think every mma fan) was a big fan of his early, coming-up, days, "mystic mac". nice to see him do so well outside of the octagon with all his ventures- the black forge inn looks like a real passion project gone right, great team, great food... really glad to see it not be just another celebrity money-grab- respect for not plastering his name directly on it.
What is very interesting is he is in this pub on many occasions, he likes to ensure that quality is served to everybody which I think is fantastic. Also after doing this, he actually sent me a message which I thought was very good of him
