C’mon Gibson give this man a signature guitar! He’s played Les Paul’s almost exclusively all his life. You’ve given them to players that wouldn’t hold a candle to this guy.
I just scored my 2020 LP Tribute in Tobacco Burst. GREAT freaking guitar! It did need a setup when it arrived, but most new guitars do. For half the price of a LP Standard, you can't go wrong. there's a sense of pride you get when playing Gibson that you just can't get from an Epiphone.
Love his outlook "I'm not so concerned with mistakes as I am about playing like I really mean it", he's a cool dude. I have had a LP Tribute for about 2 years and I love it.
I think it's safe to say Gibson is back. I feel like the changes they've made actually have substance this time around. Time will tell but so far so good!
Chris Pedraza I agree but at least they tryed. Gibson always gets hammered by people I matter what they do. The old 2018 lineup offered something for traditionalists and progressive minded people as well. Funny how Fender can do whatever they want with the strat and no one complains .
I picked up one of these while waiting in music shop for a friend. It was just an afterthought. Something to noodle on while waiting. I ended up being there two hours playing that guitar non-stop. I couldn't believe how good it felt and sounded. How bright and clear the pickups were. How good the fat maple neck felt. I tried leaving without it, and just before I reached the door I realized I was leaving one of the rare "good ones" that just speak to you. I didn't need another guitar, but I NEEDED this one. I bought it and have not looked back. My favorite guitar now.
Broooooooooooooooooooo same. IT picks you. I NEVER wanted it and I couldn't leave the store without it. YOU legit said what happened to me and I'm glad I'm not the only one. Something about this series is fucking magic. Makes you want to play and you keep digging into it nonstop
I bout my first Gibson back in 1998. It is a Les Paul Standard Tobacco Burst with mahogany body/neck, maple top, rosewood fretboard. Same pickups, 490r for neck and 498t for bridge. I feel the same way about mine and it also has the best "feeling" neck I have ever played.
i just got my 2018 honey burst a few weeks ago and my 490s sounded a bit warm...so i switched them out for Seymour Duncans 59(sh-1) in the neck and a JB(sh-4) in the bridge. i readjusted my 66 deluxe reverb for the added high end and wow.....it just sings...a slightly different feel than my 2010 or 2011 stds....but just great!!!...best thing got it second hand for $550
I started playing in 1977. The inside cover of KIss Alive 2 with the picture of Ace with all of the lights and confetti is what inspired me to start playing. I still play.
Doug is a legend in my book. His playing is incredible. First time I saw Doug wason the Dio Killing the Dragon tour in Montreal... smaller venue and he was bout 10 feet away from me and my all was blown to shit!!! His playing style, the FREAKING TONE he had was mind blowing!! The ease of his playing and style... I was hooked and became a Doug fan ever since. When I was him in Whitesnake, I was even more amazed. The Sykes stuff he played was freaking incredible!! And again, his freaking tone!!!
Luv Doug's touching memories of RR. Randy was someone I (as well as thousands of other guitarists) really looked up to. Doug's a smoking ass guitarist as well. Really enjoyed the vid.
Gibson! you better keep the tribute as a long run production series. I got one last year and it is indeed a keeper! Thinking of buying a second one and even maybe a 3rd one just in case! Great job!
I finally got my 1st Gibson Les Paul! And it's a Standard 50's! And I'm really happy, she sounds great and she's an awesome Baby! Thank you Gibson! I dreamed it since I was 5 years old,1979.....and I commented on this video 'cause one of my fav guitarist is Mr. Doug Aldrich! Yeah, man, keep on Rockin'!!!!🖤🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼🎸🎵🎶
It's because of this video that I got the exact same guitar, love that Honey Burst on that plain maple top, I love that the finish on this is so super thin, I love that it has a maple neck and Alnico II's. Super light weight, but full of tone... It practically plays itself... when I strike a chord, it sustains incredibly... Probably the best guitar I've ever owned... It may be the cheapest Les Paul by Gibson, but don't let that make you think it's any less of an instrument in comparison to it's big brothers... It's a great guitar all around!!
Talking to Doug's awesome wife...my friend Danni....there's a story behind that he was, but it was pulled by "that guy" we all despise. Door's open now...Got my fingers crossed!
Let me say. I never wanted this guitar. It picked me and I can't never go back. I couldn't leave the store without it and I tried over 30 after. It's never the same. Once you play it.. it's like an addiction. You want to keep digging into it and find all the tones you can get. This guitar is grossly under rated. I can't stop playing it.....
I love so many guitar players, Randy, Jake, Zack, Gus. Poland, Marty, Petrelli, Broderick, Kiko, Teemu, EVH, Slash, Jabs, Micheal, Mick, Alex and the list can go on. Doug keeps me playing, love the guy!!
Ive had one since about 2007 still got it,basic classic but still looks great and plays superb through my vox amp.Other more expensive Les Pauls are really more about looks than much better sounds.
Nathan Boone i am licky enough to own all of the models custom standard studio etc trust me they all sound the same get one of these ull be a happy chap
@@poisoneddog2967 mmmmmm I mean, coming from someone with the same guitars, the custom shops are a step above in sustain and tone. To be fair, it’s not a few thousand dollars better. This tribute with a thorough setup and decent amp is more than enough for most
He mentioned the size of the neck, but not the fact that it's maple. Would've liked to have heard his opinion on that, like he spoke of the chambered body. Looks to be a great guitar, especially for the price!
Dough its one of the top guitarists out right now, he deserves a signature Les Paul, the 2019 tribute its awesome even the dotted neck one ive own without the pickup covers which i miss the look, well done Gibson, would be nice to have like a conversion program for early 2019 buyers that want the later 2019 sparkles like pickup covers and the trapezoid inlays cause this tribute its a beast
Another disciple of the legend randy rhodes...if you were a kid in the 80s and you played guitar....it was eddie and randy. They inspired everybody , and anyone who played guitar was compared to them
You can add a couple more that was every bit as prominent among guitar players and aspiring guitar players from that era... Warren Demartini, George Lynch and Jake E. Lee I was smack dab in the middle of that era and I was a lead guitarist for a few local hard rock/metal bands during the 80s.. Particularly Warren Demartini and George Lynch were both on everyone's radar in the music or the rock band scene. So just a couple or three more I'm adding that were SUPER prominent players.

He had deal with Jackson in the early 90s
Fully agree! How much more does this man have to add to his history before he can get a signature LP?!?!
Instablaster...
Totally agree!!!!!!!!!!
I always think of Doug with his goldtop or his other 🍋 lemonburst looking Les. He needs a signature Les Paul agreed!
Doug's passion for guitar is HIGHLY contagious! Love this guy. His Randy story gave me goosebumps.
He has a fantastic wife

Agreed, I couldn't have said it better! I got the same (Tobacco Burst) and it is amazing!
Ive never heard of this man before but the genuineness from his voice and guitar playing reminds me of me. Im buying this guitar because of him.
Love his outlook "I'm not so concerned with mistakes as I am about playing like I really mean it", he's a cool dude. I have had a LP Tribute for about 2 years and I love it.
Doug sounds like a genuinely nice dude (I’m sure he is!) and he keeps it real and relatable through out the video. I think Gibson has now struck gold
I think it's safe to say Gibson is back. I feel like the changes they've made actually have substance this time around. Time will tell but so far so good!
Changes back to the same old shit . I give the former Gibson credit for trying new stuff .
Kk Kk some shit they did was ridiculous "thicker rosewood fretboard for a better tone"

I'm skeptical. They've been relying on their brand recognition and got sloppy.

I have a 2018 les paul tribute gold top with the 490r and 498t it blows me away. Such great tones and got it for under a grand. I'll keep it forever.
Great pickup combo!
I bout my first Gibson back in 1998. It is a Les Paul Standard Tobacco Burst with mahogany body/neck, maple top, rosewood fretboard.

After laughing at this comment for a bit, I suddenly realized it's the Rag Doll / AXE FX dude! good job man!
Hahahaha. Leon Todd you're the man! Love your channel. I was thrilled when you made the King's X one.
Doug is a champion with Gibson guitars. Amazing technique and tone. Always. I wish one day Dead Daisies plays in Chicago so I can see them live.
Coming to the Golden era again, you're getting back the power Gibson. Loves your guitars! Especially the Les Paul 50's Goldtop
I have this guitar but I think it might be broken. Mine sounds way different when I play it.
That separates a guitar fan from a guitar player. Setting an amp although is a different story.
Geoff Nelson guess the guy below didn't get your sarcasm
Hoogla Boogla sarcasm is the spice of life, and it sets us apart from the animals;)

We live in a healthy generation, he looks young. Several decades ago someone the same age would look like a grandpa.
Back then more people had marlboros and smoked more than Eddie Van Halen. That’ll turn a young guy to a grandpa in a few years.
Finally a Gibson that is affordable but has the look of a higher end LP, plays awesome as well.
Doug's guitar work on the new Burning Rain album is awesome!
Amen.
