      Ryan B I jinxed myself! I wrote no issues and the past couple days it seemed to be running roughly!
      Then last night it would start and idle for 5 seconds then shut off!! It started after the fifth try and got me home.
      I called MPT and they said try changing the plugs first, which seemed weird with only 17,000 miles on it.
      I changed them today and the truck feels like a rocket again!
      I heard these ecoboost engines need to have the plugs changed way more often than the manual says but didn’t expect this! Something else to add to the yearly check list!

    • @roymooner1

      Ryan B so it’s a real thing? I wonder why?
      I had a 2014 stage 3 Roush Mustang that had an 82mm pulley and tuned by Performance Evolution in Smyrna, Delaware. I had 23K miles on it when I traded for the Raptor, it still had the same plugs and was running strong.
      Only about 10 pounds of boost though, does that make the difference?

  • @johnazhderian5734
    @johnazhderian5734 5 років тому +1

    With EcoBoost, you can have either eco or boost but not both! When EcoBoost engines are tested by the EPA on a dynamometer the turbo does not kink in giving an artificial boost to gas mileage.

    • @jaredchampagne2752
      @jaredchampagne2752 5 років тому +1

      How slow the truck is? Dude the raptor is faster than a lot of sports cars were 10 years ago, in the right conditions it goes 0-60 in 5.1 seconds, that’s EXTREMELY fast for a 6,000lb pickup truck, are you crazy? What do you think its going to be as fast as a ferrari? Cmon now, that’s the very fastest truck you can buy on the market, it puts you back in your seat like crazy! You clearly haven’t driven one.

    • @IvoPoblete
      @IvoPoblete 5 років тому

      @@jaredchampagne2752 I'm not saying the Ranger Raptor is slow (or has that particular braking performance).
      I'm just saying what I saw in CarWow's drag race (and a brake test, also) in which that truck competed with an Amarok, an F-150 Raptor, and an X-Class.

    It all depends on the muffler. My truck stock had single outlet behind the passenger rear tire. I removed the entire exhaust system. Kit hat 2.5 pipes when truck had 3. But still it made a better difference because of the rest of the kit. Deleted resonator. Installed 3 chamber muffler to baffle the sound and dual tip outlet behind the rear bumper. It growls deep. Even for a V6. 2.7.

    I've driven ecoboost trucks commercial and personal for 6 years. Compared to V8s yeah that 3.5 has power. I tow alot with it at work. Personal I own a 2019 f150 stx 2.7L. Yeah its not a V8 but I had to go through different combinations to get it to sound the way I wanted it. It does not sound bad. Plus I wouldn't worry owning a raptor. Its the only production truck that does everything. Just because its a bigger motor doesn't mean it's better. Bugatti veyron V12 been outrun by multiple cars with smaller motors. what v8 motor owners don't understand is that V6 motors have the torque which is what gets it up and goes. Plus can be tuned. Engine works harder and heavier with V8s.

    I have a 2000 Chevy S 10 ZR2, it has many options and Perfect Leather wrapped steering wheel and leather interior ,that I give a 95% rating in looks, Not to bad for 19 year old truck. I have only put $6,778.00 in maintenance cost for 19 years of ownership, try that with New trucks of today, 345,000 miles and Counting.....

    I actually sell Fords, another thing to consider is that these raptors hold their value like CRAZY. Raptors hold their value probably better than any other full size truck on the market.

    I'm planning on buying a 2020 Raptor. I like the white with the black stripes package and blacked out wheels, and the Magnetic Metallic are my two main color choices. I live in NYC, I see you live in the suburbs so you don't have the issue of looking for a spot to park your Raptor in the streets lol that's one of my concerns also, how good can this truck be for a city guy? How about the gas, how often do you guys have to go to the gas station to spend money on gas and how much do you drive it?? Those are the things I'm considering before buying one. They have the Auto On/Off now included to "SAVE" gas, how truthful is this? But I'm looking forward to have one soon. Any final suggestions my friend?

      I average about 15mpg but I drive mine pretty hard all the time. A little hard to park because it's so wide. I always park in the back.

    The Raptor is chill, but I'm wondering about the pothole issue. I saw one of WillMotivation's reviews of the raptor and he said that they don't do too well driving over potholes.

    I’m glad to say it was worth waiting and not getting a ecoboost So glad I waited patiently and now time to buy a badass 2020 7.3 V8ZILLA Big Block f250 tremor 👏💪

      jon maciel f250 and a ford raptor isn’t even in the same ball park, its comparing apples to oranges, an f250 is a giant sluggish work utility vehicle and the raptor is an extremely high performance exotic truck

    • @jonmaciel4696
      @jonmaciel4696 5 років тому

      Jared Champagne ok your point I think you just misinterpreted it I never compared the two I just literally stated my opinion on the eco boost and just said afterwards it was worth the wait to now finally get a 7.3 V8Zilla it’s pretty obvious what a 3.5 F-150 looks and sounds like also that of a Ford F-250 so don’t know what to tell ya ...

      jon maciel well you made it seem like you were considering getting one of these trucks but you think an f250 is better, but they’re two different vehicles for two completely diff purposes

    Like the stance of the vehicle, like the looks of the outside, really nice. Inside though the Ford plastic looks cheap, really cheap. Also you say the interior "holds up" WTF it's a 18 month old vehicle it better. Also the sound of those things, what was For thinking? If it's going to get 15 MPH then put a v8 with supercharger in it! Waiting to see Ram Hellcat coming out in a year from now. Lot nicer interior in that truck. Have you ever used that lane assist? it sucks. Oh, are you ever going to take it off road? If you do, you will be the first of any Raptor owners to do so.

    Real world (calculated at pump using Fuelly App) average MPG on my 2018 with 8000 miles is 14.0 mpg. Best MPG was 19.1 from Durango Colorado to Amarillo TX 75 mph. Get about 13 in town. The Lie-ometer on dash is about 1.5 mpg over “true” mpg. I recalibrated my computer ( someone has a link on google on how to do it) and now my dash mpg readout is within 0.1 mpg of actual mpg. 35”KO2 tires and 4.10 gears don’t make for good fuel economy.

  • @The_Mustang_Den
    @The_Mustang_Den 5 років тому +1

    Nobody buys these for fuel economy, but I’ve averaged over 17mpg for the last 5000 miles in mixed driving to include lots of off roading, and over 19mpg on our last road trip. All depends on how you drive it.

    Manual shifting with the paddles was designed for the high speed driving off road Baja desert style, not for road comparisons to other cars with manuel shifters. If a Raptor was actually driven on high speed desert roads the shifting speed through the gears would seem flawless and fast.
    No one really cares about the exhaust sound in the new Raptor, except UA-camrs, no offense. Coz everything else about it makes up for it. The TT engine is blisteringly fast for a bulky pickup truck. And all wrapped up in a beautiful body. Still loving my 18.

    • @garys2157
      @garys2157 5 років тому

      The paddle shifting is for playing, pretending you're doing something, letting the transmission work as it can and was made to do, will give better results. Do agree with you about the exhaust, the motors power and how it gives that power is impressive.
