I absolutely love eating the same meals all the time. It’s easy and I don’t have to think about it. I love a baked potato with a salad or broccoli and I also use garlic salt as my seasoning. Breakfast is usually overnight oats or avacado toast. I don’t usually eat lunch because I’m just not hungry. Thankyou for these videos. They are so helpful!!! I’ve lost 32 pounds with a little more to go. I’m 71 years old and always watch your videos. You are fantastic!

I think this is one of your best videos so far. You project such a kind helpful demeanor that its refreshing. (no judgement here-been their-done that) I am on a resistant plateau after losing 40 lbs. I cant get unstuck-refreshers like this bring up a key point for me-you don't need more recipes, you need to go back to the basics of what worked, and make it easy on yourself. Thank You, YOU are a Rock Star!! 🌺💗🌺

The beginning of this video is SO true! My greatest weightloss success was when I stuck to a repetitive meal plan. I have tried some really good meal plans that offer variety but my biggest issue was that I was cooking for one person. I simply did not feel ok with wasting food because I needed new ingredients to make a different meal. A lot of meal plans don't take into account that some of us are cooking for 1. Deciding that I was going to batch cook sweet potatoes and have them with broccoli, kale or some other amazing veg every night was the best thing I could have discovered.

Perfect timing, its Sunday (Im in the UK) and Ive just steamed a bag of potatoes, and cooked 3 cups of brown rice in the instant pot. Making overnight oats and then going to meet a friend for lunch knowing for the week ahead I have what I need, I dont mind chopping veg each day its the chopping and cooking starch that bugs me so now Im covered. Will probably make a soup one afternoon, gnocchi soup is incredible, or west african stew/soup, chickpea noodle soup. Love this way of eating, 56 pounds gone probably 50 more to go!

My coworkers always make fun of me when I bring a big hearty bowl of veggies for my breakfast, but I love starting my day with a salad/stir fry. When I start my day with veggies, I feel better able to make healthier decisions throughout the rest of the day. I’d rather have a cup of cereal and milk as a snack or dessert because I find it doesn’t really keep me full and satisfied. Who says I need to have a “breakfast food” for breakfast? Especially when so many people think “breakfast” for supper is appropriate, but if you have lunch and dinner foods for breakfast, you’re the weird one? I don’t get it.

Hi Chelsea. First time seeing your channel. I heard your accent but I was trying to work out where you are. I’m a Kiwi too but live in Australia now (married an Aussie). You said “take out” instead of takeaway so I thought you must be living in the US. Then you mentioned having spent time there.
That was great advice. I watch a lot of plant based vegan UA-cam channels and they pretty much have the same meals as you showed. I think we all eat the same. 😂 What you said was so true. It’s easier to stay on track when it’s a habit. At first I thought no, I can’t eat the same every day. But I understand your points. Little tweaks can be easily made. Thanks Chelsea!

My go to breakfast is a smoothie or overnight oats. I don't often eat a third meal in a day, usually a late breakfast and then dinner. I love making curries with potatoes and chickpeas, or Dahl. They are very staple! Sushi bowls or component bowls are a big staple also. I am not a fan of cooking every night. I love to make large batches of things and eat off of them for a few days :) Thanks for your videos, I find them super inspiring :D

  • @christinaheesakacowden-wut3809

This is soooooooohohoho true! I get constantly overwhelmed with all the recipes and I do not even make it through two days without stressing. I will go back to my old habbits as soon as the stress sets in, daily problems arise and so on. I totally agree that we have to establish a new and healthy pattern of eating and simplicity is the key. All those guys I used to watch, like Lissa from Raw food Romance or Kristina or the Raw Advantage... those guys are business people and foodies whos daily life constist of marketing their recipes. Who needs 400 recipes anyways. My shelves are full of books I look at and then threw them in the corner because I get hopelessly overwhelmed. I am not a foodie and it is not my hobbie to create "the rainbow" on my plate three times a day, lol. I am a textile artist and novelist and single mother of three. I do not have time to make fancy meals nor the money for it. So simplicity is the key and it has to taste good as well and leave me time for what is more important for me. It also has to be food that is healing and sustainable.
I love my potatoes. I think they are the perfect food. Grains are problematic with me. They irritate my body and they are accidic as well. Potatoes on the other hand are not accidic but alkaline and they contain vitamin C too. 🙂I sometimes eat gluten free oatmeal in the morning and I just rotate my fruits and vegetables. 🙂Yeah, gluten free oatmeal and potatoes for starch (plus legumes) and then just rotating the fruits and vegetables, that is my basics. Sometimes a bit of avocado or cashewbutter, you know the drill. 🙂

Thanks for making me feel better about the way I cook, I thought it was boring to make the same component things again and again, or to be drawn back to the same handful of meals that I know I like, but you just actually made me feel ok about that, and made me realise this is actually a really sensible way to do things and doesn't need to be boring, this method just helps to give you peace of mind and consistency, love it! 🤗🥗🍛🍱

Chelsea! You rock!! I so needed to hear this. You just made my life and my weightloss journey easier. I need to lose 40 ish lbs and I have been dreading it. I HATE thinking about food, but you JUST made me able to sort of auto-pilot this. And that is my weakness... I need a plan, but hate planning and you totally just knocked this out of the ballpark for me!! I cannot tell you how relieved I am. ❤❤🌿
So my meals.. 1) stew, veg with beans, 2) risotto with squash and sage (need to use up our squash from summer), 3) curry with green veg and squash/potatoes, 4) sushi bowls. Breakfast is oatmeal kli, not sure how that translates, but I think it is oatbran? And chia seeds flax seeds, some nuts or fruit. Snacks are potatoes and pm meals are potato toasts with hummous or homemade tofu spread, savory with brown miso, nooch, acv. I can totally do this!

You are absolutely delightful! I so agree with you regarding making the same meals every day. As a person who has started/failed vegan, whole food diets for years ( even though I know they are good for me) your theory makes a lot of sense. Similar to Steve Jobs wearing the same outfit everyday so he can focus on bigger/better things. The only thing for me is the lack of variety this affords but I will work through that. Appreciate your point of view. Not sure why you popped up in my feeds but I'm glad you did! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤️

My husband and I eat the same basic morning meal over and over. For midday meals -- we need 10 of them each week -- we eat planned overs, that is, dinners that we parcel out for future lunches. I never cook just enough for one meal! I use a simple Microsoft Word document I update each week by looking at what I did 2 or 3 weeks prior and copying and pasting into the following week. Also, under each week, I have a Groceries To Buy section where I determine what I already have at home and items I need.. I shop on an app and have the store shoppers put my order together for me to pick up. Each week for dinner we will have pasta and salad once, stir fry and rice or millet once, soup and salad once, and two of my other quickie dinners. I might try a new recipe once every 2 weeks and decide if it goes in the meal rotation. We also have planned overs for dinners at least once a week. Our midday meals almost always come from dinners where I double, triple or quadruple the dinner so we can make up our lunches before putting excess food in the fridge or the freezer in Super Cubes. Those 2 cup silicone cubes are great because they eliminate a night of cooking and give us our "fast food." Our other dinners are quick to get on the table too. Once a week we will eat out, usually a Mexican restaurant where we can easily get vegan dishes. My system is so easy for me. It took a year to get there but it is seamless now and eliminates decision fatigue. Thanks for your video.
    Linda

I recently got a pressure cooker (sans manual) for free and it took me ages to figure it out but now it serves me. I make up batches of beans freezing any I cannot use that day or the next.
Toss some in a blender and add whatever spices you like (and garlic...because garlic.) Then I have this ready protein in my fridge to throw on a roast sweet potato or some pasta or diluted with ACV as a salad dressing. This is my breakfast tomorrow - bread machine whole wheat bread toasted with bean spread, some fruit and a huge pot of green tea. Makes me happy that I now have a canvas to dabble on with that bean pate.
Oh, and I dunno if Kiwis have a Thanksgiving. I know our northern neighbors do earlier than ours. Either way - happy Thanksgiving, Ms Mae!

I am trying to move away from going a weekly meal plan for the family, it’s become just way too stressful and decision fatigue is too real. Btw, I have two favourite breakfasts which I alternate during the week. Oatmeal with ruby fruit blend from Woolworths with a bit of maple syrup, soooo good. And the other one is a green smoothie, which I’m craving a lot at the moment. It usually has a banana, frozen mangoes and some sort of leafy greens as a base with some water. Summer has arrived in Brisbane and I already hate it. Morning smoothie helps me deal with the heat 🥵

Chelsea Mae this was brilliant. You have a new subscriber. I came to these conclusions myself because I hate cooking but am a whole food vegan. I have another tip you may enjoy…..I use my instant pot to make large volumes of soups….often broccoli or Cauliflour with potatoes and some silky tofu mixed in at the end. It’s delicious because I saute in the instant pot a lot of onions and garlic before making the soup. But this is the tip….I use the soup not so much as soup but as flavouring for the core repetition foods (although the veggie soups are a core food also). I fill a bowl half full….then add my beans, lentils etc for more protein and if I am really hungry more potatoes or other starches. The soups add the flavour plus veggies, starches and protein. Secondly, you did not mention squash. It is sooooo easy to bake a squash (I like butternut and it is in season right now) and then cut pieces off of it for a few days and heat up until it is gone. The skin is healthy and can be eaten easily). Then I switch to potato or sweet potato. Then I switch to pasta or quinoa or rice. And then back. All meals are made with a goal of half of it being some kind of veggie, then some starch, fats (don’t forget seeds and nuts!) and protein.

Thank you so much for this video. I have been struggling with what to eat especially now that the hubby is willing to try this WOE. I have purchased a couple of ebooks but rarely every look at them or use them. This makes preparing meals simple 🙂

I do meal plan, but I don't cook every day. I prepare 2 or 3 dishes in quantity and then I eat leftovers the rest of the time. I only cook every 2 or three days. You're right, too many choices will doom your diet.

Brilliant! Life is so much easier if I eat pretty much the same things every day. I love looking at all the fancy vegan bowls and the variety of foods included, but actually doing all of that work is too demanding. I love your approach!

All so true. Repetition also makes shopping much easier. I love buying frozen stir fry veggies and will add potatoes that I’ve cooked up in the morning or days prior. I’ll either add more water to make a soup, or instead of adding potatoes I put the stir fry over rice that I’ve already prepped. My challenge is raw veggies, I haven’t gotten the prep down to be ready to throw together a raw salad bowl, and while I love eating those the prep time for one salad takes so long, so I usually end up with a romaine bulb and cut up onion and peppers and add nuts or whatever else is easy. If I can improve on raw prep I would be very happy. Thanks again for great advice. I always enjoy your videos.

Great video!! We do this at my house. We have a container of cooked brown rice or sweet potatoes or white potatoes… each week is something different. We cook beans in our instapot to put in a container in the fridge. We have a freezer full of frozen veggies and frozen fruit. We rotate having a variety of greens like kale, spinach or arugula
We pre-dice bell peppers, celery, carrots and red/scallion onions. We have hummus and burrito wraps

Thank you, this is amazing!!! 10 years vegan and I absolutely loved cooking/creating delicious, healthy, wholesome vegan recipes. However since becoming a mum 5 months ago, I've been struggling to find time and energy. I need these simple systems in place to support my health and the health of my baby. I've even had times where I skip meals or order takeout because there is nothing prepared or easily to just grab and go.

Eating this way gave me premature arthritis and painful abdominal cramping, bloating and gas.😵‍💫I reversed all my awful symptoms when I stopped eating grains and legumes and started eating meat and raw dairy. My joints are pain free and I’ve lost fat and water weight. To each his own🤷🏼‍♀️

Hi Chels. Breakfast is a problem. I have tried over and over to eat oats. I love them, but they just don't love me. I want to stay whole, so creating that new habit is a challenge. Thanks for the reminder to stick with it, but finding something I like is tough.

You can make Porridge with without oats as the grain. You can use other grains Such as millet flakes, rice flakes, buckwheat flakes, quinoa flakes. Maybe one of these will be suitable for your body?

So enjoyed this. I'm doing this all day and fall apart with dinner as I'm tired and can't think clearly by them. Almost daily I do juices and smoothies until dinner. Bananas in coconut water or papaya w wild blueberries are favorite breakfasts when I need smoothie break. Going to prep more grated carrots, Broccoli and a grain for dinner so I can throw my bowls together easier for dinner. Thanks for these great ideas.

This video is very very interesting. It makes sense. I’ve yo-yo dieted for years - finally kept 10kg off for 12months … just another 8kg to go.
I like raw carrot or cooked, pea protein and mint peas, corn by itself but dislike mixed veg of corn, pea and carrot but continued to buy packets for years!! I love broccoli and beans and broad beans, leeks, onions and garlic …so what did I keep buying Brussel spouts!!
I like chickpeas, lentils and black beans - kidney beans and white beans not so much - so why keep buying them !! It makes me feel guilty when I don’t eat them!
I love all types of salad - capsicums, cucumbers etc
I’m mainly eat plant based and enjoy your channel but still eat meat.
I love green smoothies but don’t like berry smoothies but kept making them - shoot me now !
But kept buying chicken - I hate chicken and mince - I hate mince …. Kept trying new recipes hating it.
I like salmon , sardines and a steak once in a while but not often
So now after watching your video I’m sticking to what I love and enjoy. Keep it simple. Thank you

Completely agree. I love air fried potatoes all day, everyday with cooked veggies. In summer i swap the cooked veggies for salad ……. Simplicity is best and potatoes are a great taste reset.
