Great video. I'm just getting into lure fishing here in the UK so it's interesting to see how you guys down under do things and what fish you can catch with plastics. Keep up the good work mate.
No problem mate. Yeah we don't really have the variety of freshwater species you guys have but there's plenty of nice Pike, Perch, Zander & Chub to be had!
thanks john your tips always make a difference, tried the crossfire 110 fire head and silver, lost the fire head to a cuda in 45mins , so i put the silver one on and got a nice high 50s within an hr, cant wait to get back out there.
Thanks for the vid, in the Pumicestone passage the flathead are tapering off real fast, happens every year, as soon as it starts getting warmer the fish stop biting and as for Crossfire lure vids I recommend you watch with sound off.
Cheers. That’s really interesting to note mate. And the crossfire vids, I’ll have to watch em again and hear what ur on about there. Language warning ?
Hi MLB no its not the language, watch a few and see what I mean lol, and its funny, so many say that flathead are a summer fish but ive been fishing the passage for 10 years now and every year you don't start catching numbers until April and then when it warms up in September its all over and you may only get a couple per trip and the snot weed is also a problem, and size wise the Passage doesn't seem to have many bigger fish, I didn't get a fish over 60cm this year and caught at least 200.
Loving these longer, more informative style videos. Gives great insight into retrieve and tactics, but could you please elaborate more on the basics such as what lb line/leader youre using? Things like hook size etc are all the small things that nobody else seems to mention. I fish with 10lb leader for flatties, is that a bit dicey?
Cheers mate. I can add some more of those details in no worries ;) I think 10lb would be ok with bigger baits where u don’t generally have the lure down the throat of the fish and the leader rubbing on the flatties teeth. but if ur throwing small plastics or divers that can get sucked down their throat, I’d go a bit heavier... that said, if you’re after numbers, lighter is good.
Give the z man slim swim bad shad rigged weighted weedless until you can get your hands on some . Cracked a pattern on them last weekend in super clear water 👍
Hey mate I'm trying get into the big lures for the flathead and I just want to know what pound leader do you use on the big crossfires and other big lures
I was running 9lb but have still found it fine to run 20lb at times. Mostly they don’t get up to the leader so it’s not a big drama but just in case, u don’t want to drop a 40$ Lure for 4lb etc. ;)
For sure mate. I’ll have to get onto one. There’s a whiting segment in my Kayakers Guide DVD / Download that u might like, but I’ll get something else together before summer hits
Mate, another solid video. Thank you for showing us the way you achieve the various actions for the lures, and in what context (shallow/deep). Have you ever done a collab flatty vid with David Green? That would be incredible. Lastly, what type of kayak/skiff/motor are you using? Cheers!
Hi mate. Thanks for your interest in my videos. It’s a bit of a dream of mine to fish with Greeny. Maybe a video together one day would be awesome. My kayak is a feel free Lure115 with a 40lb minn Kota through the Centre. It’s a gem eh
Excellent thanks a ton, I bumped into Greeny today, mentioned to him about my suggestion to you of doing a collab vid, he's a busy man, but didn't seem against the idea at all. As I said, it would be a stellar collab vid. The kayak and motor seem better than great, will have to look into it..Thanks again mate!
G'day champ,Crossy from "Crossfire Lures here. If you are after some head over to Mike's Fishing and Tackle 5b/215 Brisbane Road, Biggera Waters . Cheers
I don’t fuss about it unless I’ve got fuel or food on my hands. I definitely think it helps if the Flathead are sluggish or just following lures but it’s not a priority for me session to session.
Gday.. i recently moved to the hawksbury region and im getting my mrs who is Finnish into lure casting.. she struggles with plastics so want to get a few hardbodies for her to use.. whats your top 5 hardbodies that seem to get results? Cheers for any help all comments welcome thanks
Hi Mark, thanks for your message. What kind of fish are you after? I would suggest a new Lure by Rapala to be worth getting your hands on. It casts well and has a smaller profile to catch a range of fish. It’s called the Rapala Xrap Jack Deep. They’re becoming available this season. Also, a lure called daiwa double clutch. It’s small and casts really well even in a wind. Good for a range of species ;)
mylurebox mainly flatties mate.. in the hawksbury.. i love the flats.. she isnt getting the whole plastics thing really.. She will love the idea of a Rapala
Thanks for the Review champ.Loved the vid, great work!! If anyone would like to check out the full range just jump on the link www.crossfirelures.com.au/

Very impressive video we can learn alot.
What kayak are you using?
Its a good setup with the minn kota
I love the long videos 😊 the bass ones are great to. But I'm having so much trouble getting these holts swim prawns 😡
Sounds like it’s a mission mate. He’s doing as many as he possibly can. He might need a little tackle rat offsider to help him out
Give the z man slim swim bad shad rigged weighted weedless until you can get your hands on some . Cracked a pattern on them last weekend in super clear water 👍
Dean Springer that's my go to rig for bream right up in the snags 😊

Nice vid man, can't beat frogs in shallow
They’re a lot of fun eh!!
What size lines for the crossfire, they look super heavy.
Hey mylurebox could you please do a Bream catching video because I am having trouble landing some bream ?
Sure mate. I’ll get one together in the coming weeks
How often do you change the treble hooks on the hard body lures?
Generally once a season Graham. Maybe less. If I washed em down more I’d save a fortune.

Nice vid mate. Is that river where you're fishing??
What lake is that?
Do you use scent on the glide bait
I don’t fuss about it unless I’ve got fuel or food on my hands. I definitely think it helps if the Flathead are sluggish or just following lures but it’s not a priority for me session to session.

For sure mate. I’ll get onto it over the summer ;)
