Thanks Wayne. Always wondered why some use a ball or barrel sinker. Gonna try your rig out today after getting my young daughter hooked up for her 1st ever flatty. Cheers
hey wayne if you could do a video on your wading gear id love to have a look, if you could also make a video going in depth on how to fish specifically at hayes inlet on low tide, tried it myself and had no luck, thanks anyways, tight lines friend
Hey Wayne. You produce some great fishing stuff and I have watched almost all. Thanks for taking the time and posting. My main thing is that I haven't seen one of those Alvey Bakelite Tackle boxes since when I was a youngin first starting out fishing about 50 years ago. I may have it wrong and its a new version of the original. Your new camera and HD is awesome compared to early days
I am personally situated on the Sunshine Coast, so it's great to have someone to gain knowledge from such as you around similar areas that I fish. Also I love your Google Earth videos where you talk about spots
Awesome video Land And Bay Fishing what size hooks would you use for the 3 gang hooks Flathead rig ? And Land And Bay Fishing would you use the 3 gang hook rig for Flathead on Pilchard Land And Bay Fishing ? Thanks for the videos Land And Bay Fishing !! I would really appreciate it if you could answer my questions about Flathead Fishing Land And Bay Fishing ? Cheers William !!
Great tip with the barrel sinkers! Would love to know where I can get one of those round tackle boxes - would be great for the mobile style of rock fishing I do. Happy to order from Queensland and have it shipped to NSW.
Hi wayne when you fish for flatties or bream what pound is your main line on your reel usually? Do you think 8 pound braid for main line is a good all rounder for bream and flatties around Redcliffe etc? Cheers mate.
Awesome video Fish Harder would you recommend all this gear used in the video for Beginners for Flathead Fishing to me ? And also Fish Harder what Baits would you use for Flathead ? And also Fish Harder What lb line would you use for Flathead Fishing Fish Harder ? I really appreciate if you answer my questions Fish Harder because it helps me get better at Fishing Fish Harder ? Cheers William !!
Keep it simple William, Your mono line you mentioned in another comment will be fine, single hook with a short trace and sinker to match the current and conditions.
Wayne, love your videos mate, great work. What's your opinion on best places to take kid to chase a flattie around April/May? My young bloke is a bream legend but still trying to get his first flathead. I like the banks at Hays Inlet but the mud and soldier crabs make it a bit of a trial for the little bloke. Any suggestions for kid friendly spots good for flathead time time of year?
Patrick Fuller bottom half of the tide at Shorncliffe east of Baxter’s jetty. Or flats at Hays Inlet on the bottom 4 hours of the tide. Park in Haysmouth prd.
i used 6lb fluro with my daiwa double clutch and sugapen 95mm and i dont struggle with 60cm+ fish, but i do have to retie after every 40cm fish. just something i though i should say not trying to sound like a jerk
That location is Shorncliffe on the North side of Brisbane. If you look at Sinbad St, Shorncliffe you will find the water way behind me. Cabbage tree creek.
This was like getting advice from the uncle I never had.
Subscribed.
Happy to help
Amazing technique. Thanks a lot.
Most welcome
Great stuff mate, cheers
Glad you liked it. Thanks James.
Saved some grey hairs with the barrel sinker tip. Cheers mate
Most welcome
Thanks for sharing
All good. Thanks for watching.

Nothing beats your kids first flatty. Awesome
Great video. Did you say you salted the mullet down first?
Most of the time I buy the mullet fillet already salted.
Good video Wayne
Bev Groomes thanks
Mate if I were using live poddy mullet, would it be better to have sinker down to hook or sinker down to swivel?
To a swivel if you want the live bait to move easy.

That’s definitely doable. I’ll weight until the cooler months.
Good on you mate! Great video
Robert Berrell thanks Robert.

Again ... Bloody Gold! 🤙👍😁
ivan buldo thanks Ivan.
Every time helpful and use info 👍🏻👍🏻✌🏻🤘🏻
FISH ON Glad you got something out of it.
Nice video mate, just experimenting with different rigs and I’ll be sure to try yours.
Michael H great rig. Good luck.
I would love to see some more Rockwall fishing videos and maybe a catch n cook
Absolutely, hoping to grow into the catch and cook videos over the coming months.

most welcome, have just about exhausted the Redcliffe area now. I intend to spend a fair bit more time between Bribie and Noosa.
V good 🙏

William Atta I like the 1/0 or 2/0 truturns with a swivel separating them. If you just want to use the mustad gang hooks the 3/0 is fine
Love these videos , what hooks were you using?
They were True Turns
Great tip with the barrel sinkers! Would love to know where I can get one of those round tackle boxes - would be great for the mobile style of rock fishing I do. Happy to order from Queensland and have it shipped to NSW.
Mark at Tackle Land Sandgate.
@@Wayne.Groomes.Fishing Cheers, mate.
Great videos! Would love to go for a fish with ya
james hall thanks James. Have a great Christmas
Hi wayne when you fish for flatties or bream what pound is your main line on your reel usually? Do you think 8 pound braid for main line is a good all rounder for bream and flatties around Redcliffe etc? Cheers mate.
to heavy. 5 or 6 lb main line. change the trace/leader to suit. 4 lb for bream and between 8 and 14 for flatty depending on lure and weather etc.
And I’ve found that when I’m drifting or winding the poddy mueller in, the leader wraps around the braid, do you know how to combat this?
Difficult to answer this one without knowing all the details. Could start by changing the length of your leader.
@@Wayne.Groomes.Fishing longer or shorter?
Not sure of the length you are currently using. But shorter is my guess.
@@Wayne.Groomes.Fishing ok

Agree I also use 6lb with lures as well, they swim a lot better.
Would squid be a substitute for mullet strips because it also stays on the hook for ages?
red snapper99 will work. Especially in the winter time as the squid are prolific in our estuary systems. Won’t work as well in the summer.
How do you place the swivel between the hooks? Thanks
Mal Drury I don’t replace. Just make new ones
@@Wayne.Groomes.Fishing I think he means "place" ie how do you put them there. I was wondering this too. Cheers
Can you please tell me where did you take this video, and what kind of fish can be caught there? Cheers
That location is Shorncliffe on the North side of Brisbane. If you look at Sinbad St, Shorncliffe you will find the water way behind me. Cabbage tree creek.
Mate were is that place
Preci Villar Shorncliffe
I really like ur bream video can you make more jew fish fishing too 😆
Bachtiar Tjia glad you enjoyed.
anything that is too technical is useless too survival, meaning a kid could catch a flat head on a single knot with a lure face palm
Fair enough
Good video Wayne
Thanks
how do you get the swivel to go into the eye of the hook? Thanks
I buy them made up. Tackle Land.
