    Thanks Wayne. Always wondered why some use a ball or barrel sinker. Gonna try your rig out today after getting my young daughter hooked up for her 1st ever flatty. Cheers

    Mate if I were using live poddy mullet, would it be better to have sinker down to hook or sinker down to swivel?

    Hey Wayne. You produce some great fishing stuff and I have watched almost all. Thanks for taking the time and posting. My main thing is that I haven't seen one of those Alvey Bakelite Tackle boxes since when I was a youngin first starting out fishing about 50 years ago. I may have it wrong and its a new version of the original. Your new camera and HD is awesome compared to early days

      William Atta I like the 1/0 or 2/0 truturns with a swivel separating them. If you just want to use the mustad gang hooks the 3/0 is fine

    Hi wayne when you fish for flatties or bream what pound is your main line on your reel usually? Do you think 8 pound braid for main line is a good all rounder for bream and flatties around Redcliffe etc? Cheers mate.

    • @Wayne.Groomes.Fishing
      @Wayne.Groomes.Fishing  5 років тому +1

      to heavy. 5 or 6 lb main line. change the trace/leader to suit. 4 lb for bream and between 8 and 14 for flatty depending on lure and weather etc.

  • @nolixss694
    @nolixss694 3 роки тому +1

    And I’ve found that when I’m drifting or winding the poddy mueller in, the leader wraps around the braid, do you know how to combat this?

    • @Wayne.Groomes.Fishing
      @Wayne.Groomes.Fishing  3 роки тому

      Difficult to answer this one without knowing all the details. Could start by changing the length of your leader.

      Keep it simple William, Your mono line you mentioned in another comment will be fine, single hook with a short trace and sinker to match the current and conditions.

    Wayne, love your videos mate, great work. What's your opinion on best places to take kid to chase a flattie around April/May? My young bloke is a bream legend but still trying to get his first flathead. I like the banks at Hays Inlet but the mud and soldier crabs make it a bit of a trial for the little bloke. Any suggestions for kid friendly spots good for flathead time time of year?

    • @Wayne.Groomes.Fishing
      @Wayne.Groomes.Fishing  5 років тому

      Patrick Fuller bottom half of the tide at Shorncliffe east of Baxter’s jetty. Or flats at Hays Inlet on the bottom 4 hours of the tide. Park in Haysmouth prd.

    Would squid be a substitute for mullet strips because it also stays on the hook for ages?

    • @Wayne.Groomes.Fishing
      @Wayne.Groomes.Fishing  6 років тому +2

      red snapper99 will work. Especially in the winter time as the squid are prolific in our estuary systems. Won’t work as well in the summer.
