    This is a very very deep song with real deep transcendental sendings. These guys were big without being understood, definitely not a commercial band. The Canadians give the world again a big talent that we discover late. Deep respect to the band and as well to the poet. The whole album is a masterpiece.

      Keep playing it. i bought this CD at the USAF exchange at Elmendorf AFB just before deployment. All the Jarheads hated it , said it was puss&y sH&t! Most of them have self eliminated since then. I still carry on stage 3 cancer and all that crap. It is good soul music from a time when peace was real.

      It's hard to say that they were the most underrated, because the 90s had tons of bands that were just as good and even more obscure. At least these guys had billboard number one single back the decade when that mattered.

    • @tommytwotacos8106

      Here, this was a few years later but completely unknown. I found them because I would run across them with my band back during those days. The thing was, for as good as these bands are, they aren't unique in the quality of the music they were producing.

    One of the best albums from the 90’s, those rare ones where you never skip a song. The ‘not quite clear about what you just spoke’ gets me every time. I’ve never had very strong faith or belief in God, i always got in trouble in religion class for asking too many questions.

      @meisteremm Why do I have to respect beliefs that are nonsense? I don't. As I said, beliefs are not true and are not sacred. No, I don't have to respect them. Don't pretend you would respect someone's belief that they saw magic gold plates in a hat that only one person could read. Don't tell me you respect everyone else's beliefs. You don't. screw that. So, in other words, as long as I follow your rules, it's all good? NOPE! And I don't, can't and won't, force anyone to do anything and I never have. Religions do that.

    • @paulagwhyte1720
      @paulagwhyte1720 10 місяців тому

      @meisteremm You are being insufferable. Do you not realize that crazy beliefs are hurting people every single day? It can only lead to suffering! Why put up with the craziness that leads to people further believing in more bullshit. Gullible people are easily led. If you'll believe in something, you'll fall for anything. And if you allow people to utter and live the worst nonsense possible, you are letting it get worse. It leads to planes into buildings, terrible wars, groups demanding the deaths or imprisonment of other groups or insisting on their inferiority. Belief in bullshit is NOT HARMLESS! Where do you think witch burnings and Crusades and Inquisitions came from! It does lead to causing harm. Richard Dawkins tries to instill knowledge and intelligence, that's it. Why would that be insufferable? If you think it is, then something is wrong with your thinking! Why do you think so many ignore Climate Change to the detriment of all of us?!

    • @leonvisa3282
      @leonvisa3282 4 роки тому +24

      The meaning of life you can find in God. The meaning of life is love and that is the power of God. "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud, it is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps not record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." it is written in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. That's why people seek God, because they want to see his face, Jesus's face. Faith is the most important aspect in a person's life. You can't take your material belongings with you, but whom you trusted and to whom you gave your life to will be with you for eternity.

    Well into my 30's back in the Nineties, didnt give this band much thought, as well as many other bands, guess I was still stuck in the 70's and 80's. Kind of rediscovered Crash Test Dummies, wow, what talent. I really enjoy their harmonies, thoughtful song lyrics, unique sound. I would certainly go see them live if the opportunity presented itself.

      I had a chance to see them in Detroit not too long after this album came out.
      It was March, maybe. Robert's voice literally shook the rafters. Confetti from the NYE party that was stuck in the ceiling started fluttering down.
      They were amazing. I also remember Ellen doing some mongolian throat singing. It was a very interesting night.

    After seven days
    He was quite tired so God said:
    "Let there be a day
    Just for picnics, with wine and bread"
    He gathered up some people he had made
    Created blankets and laid back in the shade
    The people sipped their wine
    And what with God there, they asked him questions
    Like: do you have to eat
    Or get your hair cut in heaven?
    And if your eye got poked out in this life
    Would it be waiting up in heaven with your wife?
    God shuffled his feet and glanced around at them;
    The people cleared their throats and stared right back at him
    So he said:"Once there was a boy
    Who woke up with blue hair
    To him it was a joy
    Until he ran out into the warm air
    He thought of how his friends would come to see;
    And would they laugh, or had he got some strange disease?
    God shuffled his feet and glanced around at them;
    The people cleared their throats and stared right back at him
    The people sat waiting
    Out on their blankets in the garden
    But God said nothing
    So someone asked him: "I beg your pardon:
    I'm not quite clear about what you just spoke
    Was that a parable, or a very subtle joke?"
    God shuffled his feet and glanced around at them;
    The people cleared their throats and stared right back at him

    3:10 and on gives me chills. This song Always reminded me of my good friend Jeremy who just recently passed on suddenly at 38. I am still in shock and miss him dearly. He was a huge believer in God and took a lot of passion into praising our lord. So this song always makes me think of him. He was a musician himself He loved and was always playing the guitar His look and style was old fashioned hippie, a few of these songs crash test dummies did always kind of reminded me of
    Him. RIP my brother I know you are still here x in our hearts

    You cant care what other people think of what god gives you. If you have blue hair. its a gift from god. Things like haircuts in heaven and all that mean nothing in comparison. what you have is gods gift and it is you. you need nothing else. that is the message of this song.
