West Michigan's lowest rated Disc Golf course? Navigating the JUNGLE DGC!

- I have been eyeballing this low rated course for a few years now and finally decided to take it on! Let's so how bad it could really be! Loose a disc or two??
#playdiscgolf #frisbeesport #discgolfdaily #discgolf
thanks for biting the bullet on this one! I don't think I'll be checking it out 😂
I accept my role as the body bag haha
You made me laugh over and over. Thanks for playing such a rough one!
Sone of us need to make the sacrifices
I think this is the lowest rating I’ve seen you give a course. Brutal review. The nettles and rough look terrible!
I like the course reviews for better or worse. I appreciate the effort, and have developed my game around how you navigate different circumstances.
Good work sir👍🏽
@@mdrisley thank you so much, I love to hear it!
Great review on this one, Hunter. What a day!
Glad you enjoyed it!
For a moment there, I thought I had slept through the nine hole break. 😊
Great video! I appreciate the honest review.
It's nice to mix it up!
Wow, way to gut that one out! The beetle that wanted a piece of you was Cotinis nitada, the green June beetle. They're phenomenally stupid and very clumsy flier. Not a good combo lol.
It's interesting seeing more discs made of 2 different plastics. The harder rim but softer flight plate. Not sure if that'll be the wave of the future, but it's an interesting experiment if nothing else.
Doomsday Discs has been going all out on trying new things or bringing back old oddities that may actually work. The Solar Death Ray is the newest and it has grooves on top. Very interesting for a fairway driver. I've always been a fan of their Biohazard plastic though. It's very flexible and gummy and it seems like other companies are starting to pick it up (the new Z FLX plastic feels very similar).
I do agree that a lot of companies are trying to reinvent the wheel, but i suppose that's as much in part of them trying to make money by giving people the option to make their whole bag one company. But certain molds will always be hard to beat no matter who tries to make something similar.
@tylerhedlund7123 yea I agree with everything you said! I have a friend that throws a lot of doomsday disc's! I also agree that large beetles are that of a clueless feather just going where the wind takes them haha
"We're not on hole 12 yet!!" haha this was a great showcase of a midwest course in this constant growing summer. Well done dude!
@@Thechaintickler glad you enjoyed it! Does feel like a course I've played 50 times haha
I love checking out low rated courses as long as they still have baskets. When you look at a 9 hole course and see 4 holes missing baskets it's not exactly a great feeling. I think the next breakthrough will be metal rings on the outside of the disc with a lighter plastic to stay under the weight limit
@@matthewmiller4616 that might turn into a liability issue there lol
I think we are now in a period where max-weight discs are being replaced with lighter discs. I've seen the retailers marking down the heavier discs while leaving lighter discs of the same mold at full price. This may be because a lot of new people are picking up the sport. I also see more -2 and -3 turn discs being introduced, where it seemed there was a race to the over-stable a couple of years ago.
I also think that more discs are going to be made on CNC machines to guarantee consistency, rather than be injection molded.
I've been seeing a pick up with the CNC, will be interesting to watch!
6sided did a vid about CNC custom discs, made a case for that being the future. was pretty cool.
@@stephenmcclaren3618 I'd love to try one!
A year ago, some of those fairways were even tighter. Pants are a must.
Yea I learned my lesson haha
Maybe one day they'll figure out how to make a self-leveling disc... like whether you throw in with hyzer, flat, or anhyzer, it will adjust and fly flat :-)
I'm all for it haha!
The next advantage will be hollow discs with lead weighted balls utilizing a rotary 3 ring axis in the middle to increase velocity.
I'm all for that! Sounds awesome
I just found your channel yesterday. It's great to see you playing and liking our local courses. Have you played Coldbrook?
Glad you enjoy it! I have not played cold brook! Where is it located ?
Keep up the good work, you are providing a public service. 😊
Thank you so much!
Tough course for sure, lol. I just got my mystery box today and got a cd1 with the old school crush boys logo. All the discs i got are sick with some sweet stamps.
That's awesome, I only ever got one back aways with the rainmakers
I played this one once... it was rough. Then I played it again. I need help 😂. Best to play this one on the fall when the rough is all dead
Yea that's not a bad idea !
I will not be playing it twice lol
@@tossingplastic never again for myself either... glutton for punishment I guess
@@michiganmeateater5756 I get that 100% haha
I also think there will be more high-durability discs with embedded sensors to rival or replace the Tech-Disc. Players may use a set of these to fully understand all of their throws.
Do you think it can get to technological or are you all for it?
@@tossingplastic I think it will evolve just like any other casual/amateur/professional sport. Just like in baseball, where you have such simple things as a few people just doing a pickup game at a local park, to every single analytic that you can imagine and every single technological advance for every piece of equipment in baseball being analyzed to the nth degree. That won't be me.
@alanlundberg4534 that's a fair point !
This course reminds me of a course near me called Angry Apple. Let's just say, the name says it all. Lol
That's a great name haha
I’m afraid my new local course, that I helped create, is turning into the same situation because the parks department is clueless about disc golf.
Yea sadly it happens a lot. I personally think they are building then to quickly!
@@tossingplastic yep, it’s frustrating because they agree to thousands of dollars for the signs and pads, and then a very small few of us, put in literally over a thousand man hours, with a promise they would mow it. Why waste the money on nice pads and nice signs, when they don’t plan on mowing it good?
It's why we started above par disc golf! Show love to the loveless!
@playdiscgolf1546 yea it's very unfortunate. They get so bad it's unplayable
@@brentguest8605 hey Brent, can you get the county parks to cut our fairways nice and wide? They blow me off. Like they mow goldenrod?
Going to be a hard pass for me on this course. I have no idea about next gen technology, but maybe other material within the disc? Like they do metal flakes, but maybe put some aluminum rings in in the molds or something? Would add weight, but be far more resilient in the wind.
@davidherlein6068 there is strict weight restrictions!
@@tossingplastic yes, but I feel like there are ways to make them lighter so you could add the rings within the mold. They wouldn’t be super thick or anything. People a lot smarter than me make them. Haha.
looks better than Bertha Brock to me. try the Mac north of Greenville for a new one
Yea Bertha Brock was the only course I ever quit while filming haha
Just looking at the first hole At least the teepads look decent
@@Hobbbuddy yes I have no complaints about them!
I said the same thing after I played that course. Lol.
@@kevin9880 not an ideal situation haha
Theres a course in Sanford Michigan named The Jungle that looks way more fun than this one lol
I wonder if I will end up that way!
@@tossingplastic I really think you should. Make a day of it and hit the Saginaw/Bay City/Midland area. Chippewa Banks is fun, Hayes/Freeland is my home course. Deerfield in Mt Pleasant is a very fun two track course with great variety, would make a great vid 👀
stoakly just bought ching ,the
thumb one just dropped
I saw that, super interesting!
If this is a 3.5 mcgraft should be a solid 4
The Udisc rating system is whack!
Hollow discs
this is average florida disc golf right here.
this course would still be above average in germany :D
I'd love to go to Germany, got an extra room haha?
@@tossingplastic if you're planning to visit hamburg, shoot me a message (for real)!
@@DonChul that would be so awesome!
