I was amazed yesterday at the box store. They had all brands of primer, even Remington. So I bought 400 CCI 500, I was tempted but, I left some for the next guy. $8 /100.

I was at Perry's gunshop in Wendell and they had a half decent selection of powders, but will not sell you primers unless you buy 5lbs of powder. Everywhere else I have looked had a very meger selection and outrageous prices.

.308 brass, you used to be able to get new match brass for about $0.20 a piece. Now 308 match brass is on the + side of $1.00 a piece

White River Energetics in Arkansas is a new Primer Manufacturer. I got a box of there small pistol primers and they all worked. They have been on backorder for a few weeks though. I get my primers at Republic Ammo in Lima OH. I drive there because I live in Ohio, but they only have a $14 hazmat fee. The prices are really good compared to other places. The sell USA and all other countries primers too. I got some Made in Argentina, some Bosnian, Russian. I even go some that were made in France about 6 months ago, but I don't see they have them listed on there site anymore. They have quite a bit of powder in stock to, but my local Cabela's has had a lot of powder so I have been buying it there.

🇦🇺😎👍The only powder we can get is ADI , Australian Defence Industries. Nothing else is coming through.ADI $ 395 4 kg 8 lb.. No pistol powder for 2 1/2 years 🆙… Rifle and pistol primers, if available are 650 /1000 dollars per 5000 if you can afforded them

🇦🇺😎👍We had Armscor 22 lr for sale on special 2 years ago for $220/5000 now 2 years on its still on special it’s $495/5000. PPU 6.5x55 was $19.00/20 now $39.95 and still on special. The cheapest 223 is double from 2 years ago and on and on. Winchester 12 gauge Super Speed 7.5 were $90 and now $122/250 , at least not as bad as the rest. I’ve heard some blokes are stripping down the shotgun cartridges to get pistol powder

Great discussion. Looks like getting into reloading now is like getting into milsurp rifles now, an expensive hobby. At least I got my rifles years ago and stocked up on ammo. Prices will never go down as long as demand is high and SOMEONE is willing to pony up.

You made a good point sir, we hear a lot that the Russians are using “rusty” “corroded” arms and ammunition. When in reality working in any sort of replenishment area (like you said manufacturing) there is always a necessity for a first in first out. They have been manufacturing and making arms their first priority for a long time. Same with china. They are probably using stuff that is 40 to 59 years old and have wear houses of new stockpiles. We as the us and nato are the only ones that are probably low.

Prices are through the roof on all reloading components. When I started loading my own shells it cost about $ 1.95 a box of 25 for a 3 3/4 dram 1 1/4 ounce of shot. Al 7 powder was $ 3.25 a pound, bag of shot was $4.25 for 25 pounds, wads were 1 Penny each, primers were 18.00 a thousand. I am not sure you can save money today by reloading your own !

This isn't going to get better any time soon unfortunately. Ukraine is begging for more ammo so the powder and primer companies will be prioritizing whatever they need for that. Commercial ammo and reloading components is way down on the priority list...scarce and expensive.

    • @Lure-Benson
      @Lure-Benson 6 місяців тому

That whole lying crap about ammo and reloading supplies go to Ukraine you have to be a bar room drunk to believe that crap stories that start in bar rooms them spread out through the most ignorant Mother F ers !
The US has gone through world wars and Vietnam and smaller wars, and you think the US is some small industrial countrie!
Then how do you explain the flood of small rifle & pistol primers here in the Pacific NW if all of these are you say going to Ukraine when Ukraine now is using many NATO arms in 5.56x45 !

Shop online, powder valley has very good prices for powder and it's all in stock, sure it's not as cheap as it was years ago but it's available.

  • @moushunter

I"m not sure where you shop for components but I've had no problem finding primers under $85 (one famous brand in SRM was $69 per K) and powder on the shelf or online in quantity. I just bought 32lbs of powder under $30/lb and got free hazmat to boot. Several local stores have primers from CCi, Winchester, and Federal collecting dust on the shelves. The only big box store that stocks reloading stuff locally has stock sitting there unsold in decent quantity.
I also just bought a good stock and variety of rimfire at case size quantities in multiples with no limits on sale.

A few weeks ago on more then 1 black powder youtube page I said there was a big problem and I had more then one member turn on me and said some unkind comments to me that I was a fool and caps and powder could be found, now just a few weeks have gone by and it is clear we have a big problem and now even 209 primers are rare

I feel your grief but you can't dwell on the past. Our hobby is one that you pay up or get another hobby. Nothing ever goes back to what it was . Remember the gas wars when 4 stations in one intersection were 30 cents a gallon and the guy on the other corner would drop his gas to 29 cents. Oh yes, the good old days are gone my friend.

I keep mine in ammo cans with a desiccant pack, but I recently found some Accurate #2 and small pistol primers that were my father in laws from around 1998 or 99. They were just kept on a shelf in the basement. I loaded them all up in 380, and went through all the powder. I used them for 5 training classes I had, and had no problems at all.

in what I belive are price gouging gun shops where I live in NC primers from 11.99to 14.99 per 100bx. I have successfully reloaded small/ large pistol primers so far at 100 percent efficiency. so if and when I'm out and you can't get them I'm still in the game. for your viewers who have bought the rossi brawler 45colt/410single shot which I recently bought and test proved it .I also am shooting 45acp in safely. I use from harbor freight a 225 peace box metric nitrile o rings different sizes. I use sizes 8x2mm and 8.8x1.9 mm putting on bullet nose rolling back all the way.keeps 45acp from falling down barrel and compressing around shells for tight fit when action shut.if some decided to do this their responsibility is there own. ammunition around 824-845fps is all they need to shoot for 45acp. I have test proved this firearm in 45colt into 45 colt +p levels and 45 acp+p levels but these are my personal personal tests and in no way should anyone try this as this testing is a danger to bodly injuries or death especially if they don't know what there doing . I've been doing this over 44years and I myself could make a hazardous mistake. so factory ammunition is best for most people. note the manufacturer doesn't mention the use of 45acp in this firearm so I highly recommend calling the factory and speak to a factory technician or take it to a confident gunsmith before shooting 45acp in this single barrel 45colt. for me it's a win,win situation to be able to shoot 45colt/ 410/45acp in the same firearm. papa wishing you well 😊

Can’t find a component ex. Primers the info is out there and not talking about the h48 compounds a little research and there are thousands of ppl already doing it it’s not hard or dangerous and you don’t need to be a chemist to do it if you can’t find a component make it yourself your not going to make thousands a day but enough for light target or hunting purposes

90% good old capitalist profiteering. Spare a thought for us in th UK that depend on the US dreggs, We get nothing from Europe any more, primers are non existant at any registered Firearm dealer within my reach. I've just sold all of my reloading gear that took ten years to build up for about 20% of it's value. Reloading is finished over here for the foreseable future. The average shooter is now basically down to 22lr or sub 12ftlb air rifle.
