    I STILL love this bit!! It still makes my hair stand on end, it's so awesome.
    Hey, Tim, this little bit just gave me an idea: A movie based on this song premise. A Youth Pastor becomes disillusioned as he is watching his younger congregation dwindle, and out of despair, contemplates throwing in the towel and go get drunk. As he sits at the bar, nursing his (yet to be touched) drink, he gets to talking about his problems with another patron. As they are discussing his dilemma, the topic of worship music comes up, and how most young people just don't care much for it. The patron makes a off-handed remark about how worship music is old and outdated, and it's too bad that some modern, or popular, music couldn't be put to old hymns and praise songs. Divine inspiration hits the pastor, remembering the hymn, "Down from His Glory", which is to the famous, and popular (in 1898) song, "O Sole Mio": Why not put hymns to famous rock tunes? Thus is the beginning of "Church of Rock".

    My church actually played a Led Zeppelin song! We had a Heaven or Hell series and on one Sunday the band played Stairway To Heaven and had Don Piper speak about his experience in Heaven. Then, on the next Sunday, the band played Highway To Hell (a portion of it) and had Bill Wiese speak about his experience in Hell. It was so cool; I loved it!

    I find Tim's very uplifting in his approach to speaking and spreading God's Love. It's not the tired dieing church that was so strong 50 years ago. He brings a fresh approach to the Christian walk to show people that Christians aren't uptight and judgmental like they were 50 years. Christians weren't meant to be prunes sitting there on a pew but out reaching people and the best way to do that is through familiar environments to he ones we are trying to reach.

    Too much fun...wish I could just hang out and jam with this guy! He lovingly mocks everything I used to think was so important: in church, and out of church, in such a friendly way...gotta love THAT...so tired of the "church" taking it self so seriously.
    Taking on "Shout to The Lord" and mixing it with "The Immigrant Song" is absolute genius....especially when you look at the lyrics of both.
    What WILL God do with all us old "rockers" in Heaven? Make us do parodies like this guy? Man, I sure hope so, cause this is just a slice, fer sher!

    • @ethanhayes9362
      @ethanhayes9362 3 роки тому +2

      Yeah, now I want an actual fully fledged parody that I could listen to on spotify. Also yeah, Church should be more about gathering for the Lord, should be a joyous and wonderful thing, not sombre and dreadful.

    For my church we'd skip the med units and just bring the bags... a friend and I sang "House of God" by Mercy Me and we got glares and scowled at for that! In fact that was about 8years ago and coincidentally the last time I was allowed to sing a special at church.

    It's okay, I should be able to get them to let me sing a special again. Thinking about doing something like what Tim does in this video. I want to put one of the traditional hymns to a song that is a little more "lively".... If noting else trying to start a youth program that is focused on music could work; putting hymns and praise songs, to the music of the kids favorite songs. Who knows?

    I'm pretty sure God didn't say that we had to worship using Christian contemporary music, or even hymns. Those things are a lot younger than the bible. Besides, it says to praise him with the stringed instruments, and the Hebrews had drums as well, so I'm pretty sure Zeppelin is covered.

    Think of it like this: one man builds a bridge, and then another man comes along and builds another bridge right next to the first guy's. Why did he do that? Did the first bridge not work good enough? They both serve the same purpose: to get you to the other side. Two bridges alike, one isn't necessary, and it's just more labor to get the same result. (By the way, I'm actually a teenage girl, not a little man.)

    @conniebear94 As for me judging, can you even find that verse in the Bible? It's Matthew 7:1, and it says "Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again." I am fully prepared to be judged by the same standard I judge by--not my opinion, but by the Bible...

    Most hymns are written to bar/pub song music. it was used to bring in the people by hearing familiar music from outside. And it's all the more reason to do so now it works. And do you really think the way we worship now is the way they worships 2000 years ago??? Well it's not Christians always have adapted to the culture around them to bring more and more to God through Christ. That's what we do. Please don't be so hateful and judgmental of people without knowing their motives. Matthew 7:1
