Matt, the engine sound bug is in the stock game, doesn't have anything to do with any mods whatsoever. Te fairing base is doing OK because the heatshield; although depleted still resists the heat to some extend, better have a depleted heatshield than none at all. A dragonfly style drone would be ideal to explore Eve.
the closest IRL analog to this mission I can think of is the Magellan satellite which flew to Venus and was launched from the Space Shuttle. I know the Shuttle isn't an SSTO but it's the closet thing to one we have at the moment.
I remember talking to Matt briefly on his discord server way back when that started. He's pretty chill as you'd expect. Should have prepared some questions in hindsight, but we move.
The best small cars are designed around their interiors, and I'm sure many of the best larger cars too. I'm sure it's a good way to design a spaceplane because it means you're not making it larger than you have to. Edit 4 months later: Why didn't I say how much I love the intro on this one? It's one of my favourites; it reminds me of Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and all the best kids books of my childhood! XD

I left this channel for 2 months because I stopped playing KSP and got a bit bored of it, but now I’m back. Your videos are cheerful as always. In the next KSP video you could pick up that piece of debris, but at the same time, it would have vaporised in Eve’s atmosphere
If you find the ship wobbling, you can lower the authority limiter of the control surfaces. That way, they not only have a smaller range of movement, they also move proportionally less.
If you took a year or even more off then continued making videos later I would continue watching, I could never unsub from you Matt. I hope you continue to enjoy making your KSP videos for a long time
i wonder how if you ever tried FAR... for those who do not know what FAR is, it enhances aerodynamics. some people does not explain it good enough or make it seem unplayable... basically the biggest fundamental change is that you got a bit more forces when going super sonic that can break ships, next you got dead air (the inside of a cargo bay is dead air, behind the ship as well.) and finally there is better supersonic behavior since there is a shock cone! so this said, 95% of ships made on stock will work mostly the same except if the wings are inside the body (dead air) or when turning really sharp and hiding a wing from the air flow. (dead air) reason i started to use FAR was due to the crappy cargo bay behavior not hiding the parts properly when using sections. but ship like those really intrigue me on how they would behave!
I love the video. I will admit from the thumbnail and title I was thinking it would be more like the scene in “the Incredibles” when Mr Incredible starts his first mission by shooting out of a plane with rockets and then helicopter blades deploy to carry him to the island… maybe an idea for a future video? Maybe on Laythe?
It’s just a mess of robotic parts?? I mean if you were an engineer you’d find it nice because it’s compact but I’d suffer a heart attack from the mess while looking at it😂

Remember a KSP short from squad, where they deliver a surprise package to eve for jeb, bob & bill :-) And did the kerbal falcon heavy center core landed in the island runway
16:30 talking about debris not deleting correctly when it should be well inside of an atmosphere, I've had stuff at 30km perigee orbits at kerbin and they refused to delete. I was under the assumption that the game just straight up deleted any unloaded object that ends up too low in an atmosphere but apparently not.
i'm still thinking about making a little drone hub that can dock up to 4 tiny electric drones that can fly around in low atmosphere planets and do research.
It's funny how RTGs can run for literally hundreds of years in this game, whereas the current RTGs powering the Voyager probes are supposed to die in just under 50 years. Granted, perhaps modern RTGs have been improved to run for much longer periods of time, but I just think it's funny that they run forever in KSP
i'd love to see if this man's incredible KSP skills and knowledge could convert into practical applications. I wonder if he could actually help design aircraft and space fairing vessels.
