Ginnie Springs - High Springs

- Today we explored Ginnie Springs in High Springs, FL. This place allows the resources needed to make the most time in the great outdoors. The Sante Fe River is a popular choice for visitors but offers so much more to do within. You can simply swim and enjoy the company of friends and/or family. Using innertubes, kayaks, paddleboards and canoes there are many ways to experience this park. Come along as we explore this gigantic water park and camping area.
Edit: We visited this place on October 24th which was a Saturday. As you can see in the video, it was pretty crowded and this is how a typical weekend looks. Hopefully we can return on a weekday to see how crowded it is and post another video.

Watching this September 2023. Great video.
We did another one to show off the place on the weekday. It is such a difference. Thanks for watching! 🙂
Ginnie is probably my favorite spring to freedive! 💙 Yes, the water is cold! Just jump in! There are multiple springs, each is different and are all absolutely beautiful! Be prepared to walk, the trails are long to take your tubes up/down the river. I would advise against visiting on major Holidays (and a lot of weekends) because the partying continues until the early morning.
Yeah, we did Ginnie on the weekday too. It was so different. We love all the springs. Michael freedives, too. My favorite is Dogwood. It feels so natural. Thanks for watching! 🙂
Were doing week days as well. I just watched what happened during Memorial Day weekend 2 was ago. Scarry.
That spring is beautiful!
It is! All of the springs are definitely worth a look. The people can be overwhelming but the beauty of the place outweighs anything else! Thank for watching!
It is absolutely gorgeous I went there in person today
4:57 thanks for the shout out 🎉😅❤
Did you do a video on Ginnie?
Going this weekend.....STOKED!
I will call first. This is on their website. We were supposed to go last month to my high school reunion but Hurricane Elsa overflooded the area. Here is what is on their website. "Due to flooding, there are no river activities at this time; we are not renting tubes, canoes, kayaks or paddle boards. We recommend life vests, they are available to rent free of charge. There are areas of the park that are being closed daily due to flooding. Currently, swimming is limited to Ginnie Spring and the Devil’s Spring System (Little, Ear, and Eye). " If you want to check out another spring in that area try Ichetucknee Springs and try out the tube run. Lots of fun! Good luck!
Me too!!
Same
excellent👍 video
Thank you!
I frequently came to Ginnie in the 60's and 70's, so my info is a little out-dated. But even back then, weekdays were the time to come to Ginnie. Crowded on weekends, almost empty during the week.
Yes! We did another video of Ginnie on the weekdays. What a difference! We get half and half comments. Some people like to party, and others just want to enjoy the springs with their families. We are more into enjoying nature kind of people so we liked weekdays better. People who are into partying, the weekends at Ginnie are for them. 🙂
Thanks for the heads up on this place. That would have been a bummer.
We have a new video coming hopefully Saturday of Ginnie on the weekday. If you want to see the difference look for that one. It was such a quiet day! Thanks for watching! 🙂
@@FloridaandBeyond I seem to be following you two around on here tonight. Very informative and well done video's by the way!
I went swimming in the ginne springs today cause I’m in Florida it is beautiful and the water is so clear and looks a lot better in person definitely recommend this next time ur in Florida near here and it’s not very expensive it was 10 dollars for me and my 7 year old brother to go swimming but *be careful in the spring cause there a lot of rocks and those make it seem shallow but then thay fall off and it’s deep so keep that in mind*
Lol this is our video of the place. We went there last year. The spring is really beautiful. It can get crowded sometimes so we want to go back on a weekday.
nice. thanks.
Great video! I couldn't agree more with this video. I have visited many springs in Florida and this one is for party goers only! Sad because I am sure they are beautiful! There were tons of huge trucks driving back & forth with tons of people in the truck beds having a lots of fun. If you have small kids, don't go! It you want peace & serenity, don't go! I am going to try it one more time this month but on a Wednesday and early. I will let y'all know how it goes.
We are going to try going during the week when school is back in session. We are all for people having a good time but parents might not want their kids to see drunk people falling over. We go for the peace and quiet not the party scene to springs. Ginnie really is a beautiful spring too. Good luck Wednesday!
DO NOT EVER GO ON A MAJOR HOLIDAY
Right! We saw videos where it was more people than water. This video was shot at the end of October and it was packed. We want to do a weekday during school time just to see how it looks. Thanks for watching!
Iz cold
I'm going tomorrow
Have fun! Hoping the crowd will be low. We want to go back when everyone is back in school and hopefully less crowded. They really are beautiful springs!
I’m going Sunday kind of a last minute thing since we’ll be close by. Hopefully it’s not busy.
I think it is really busy on the weekends especially with this heat. The owners don't limit the amount of guest either. I hope you have a good visit but prepare for crowds. We really want to get back on a school day during the week sometime just to see how the spring is. It really is a beautiful spring area. Thanks for watching and good luck!
Going tommorow, I'll let you know if it was a mess.
We had a lot of drunk people falling over us while we were there. We drink, but not like what we saw. Since we are more geared to family, we were just showing what we saw. Hopefully there are times were it is quiet. The springs are beautiful! Have fun!
I heard there were springs in Gainesville or is this them?
So I did not see any in Gainesville just near. I found a list of Springs in that area. www.visitgainesville.com/explore/splash-into-the-springs-near-gainesville-fl/
Thanks for watching! Hope this helps!
@@FloridaandBeyond thank you so much!!
Are there not gators??😵
Always a risk of gators, this is Florida lol. Alligators hate humans and for the most part try to avoid us. There are so many people at Ginnie that they don't bother people. They also like to stay warm so most of the time you find them on the banks sunning themselves. When swimming, just be aware of your surroundings. Thanks for watching!
When are you going back?
Probably when the kids are all back in school. We have heard weekends and summertime can be packed. We figured maybe a Tuesday in September or October. According to the divers, there is nobody there when it is cold out. Luckily during those months it is still warm enough to swim. It is a beautiful spring and definitely worth a visit. Thanks for watching!
If you’re a Karen or Daren….stay at home. This spot is filled with a younger crowd. So yes there is drinking and yes you will hear loud music of ALL genres…… just a heads up. Go on a Wednesday or non holiday if you don’t want to complain.
We have a lot of people who have families that watch our channel. They may not want to bring their kids around drunk people. When we were there a few people puked and fell over in front of us. It would be a surprise for someone who has never been to visit this place. We said in the video if you are not into loud noise and drunk people best to go during the weekdays. We visit a lot of Springs and try to find out as much as we can about the place so people are prepared when they visit. It isn't so much as being a Karen just some people want different things when visiting a place.
@@FloridaandBeyond I appreciate this information. I for one do not want to be around a lot drinking while my child is with me. So many things could go wrong. And I just prefer not to be in the wrong place at the wrong time! I will try a Tuesday or Wednesday thanks for the heads up!
@@thesun-N-moon8885 thank you, that is why we had mentioned it. We have 2 boys of our own and even though Gage is 23, it would not be a place I would want to take him. We were fine with all the drinking just a little out of our norm when go to a spring. We go for peace and quiet. Hopefully returning this week during the weekday to see what the area is like when everyone is at work or school. Good luck on your trip! Definitely call just to confirm swimming is opened. They have had some trouble with the river flooding unfortunately 😕
@@FloridaandBeyond thank you and good luck with your second trip. I appreciate the information.
@@thesun-N-moon8885 we went and so much better! There were only a few families there. People were still playing music but less crowded and no drunk people falling over us. Ginnie definitely has 2 types of people. Party people on the weekends and Spring lovers on the weekdays. Mike and I want to camp on the weekday one time. Did you visit Ginnie yet?
Don’t go after rain, cypress trees tait the clear water. Over priced on entree and camping. Beer cans dot the spring from beginning to end. Store and Restaurant are quadruple the price of most attractions. Many better, far cheaper and well maintained spring area.
Ginnie can be a little expensive. We definitely did not like that people where throwing garbage in the spring area. The spring is beautiful though when the water is clear. It is worth a visit at least once.
How deep is the water?
It is all different sizes. There are parts that you can stand and other part that are like 15ft. The caves are pretty deep. With any springs, I always suggest bringing a noodle. They work great for floating.
Some areas are far deeper than 15 ft
I to bring there
The springs are beautiful! It can be very crowded at times. Thanks for watching!
Im a Karen. And I do not, I repeat, I do not approve this video. Aahhhhhhhhhh
We did not ask for your approval. You don't have to watch it either.
