If you are not LGBTQ and have not been in the lifestyle it is so easy to say "just stop" or "it's a mind thing", it is so much more to it. I have had an attraction to the same sex and opposite sex for as long as I can remember, I am a man and carry myself as one. I have also been called names, talked bad to by family, disowned, been the topic in church, even had a close family member speak a word of death over my life, my dad is a pastor and he was one of the only people that didn't talk bad to me but instead encouraged me to PUSH and continue to worship. I have gone in and out of depression, contemplated taking my own life multiple times. I am a very spiritual person, (not a fan of religion), I feel the presence of the Holy Spirit in me and am convicted. I have found my ministry in being a nurse and do find myself at times speaking to my patients about the goodness of God and praying with them. I gave up along time ago with trying to become a "straight" man and allowing other people to condemn me. Instead I practice abstinence, I go deep into worship and for the most part try to be guided. Yes I still talk to guys and I lay out what I do and don't but I have made up in my mind that this whole thing is a process and will take time. It keeps me sane and allows me to grow closer to God through Jesus with the Holy Spirit as my guide. My goal is not to be a "straight" man but one that causes Gods heart to smile, I am blessed, I do have a purpose, and I am a child of God

I have had similar experiences to yourself, including the "bad talk" and name-calling.
No one can really know unless they have walked in your shoes. Many lack empathy.

@@scented-leafpelargonium3366 I have walked in those shoes. And yes, It does take time for those thoughts to subside. I surrendered my life to Christ May 31, 1986. And have not " acted out " since then. Today, I am a Navy Vet, in prison ministry and my wife and I just celebrated our 31st anniversary. We have 2 Beautiful daughters. In my case, it was the environment, and situations that had happened to me that lead me into those behaviors. But like cancer that gets treated with medicine and chemo, then goes into remission; so were those desires the more I received the ' medicine and chemo ' of God through the word, fellowship, and prayer. Today, nearly 37 years later, those desires are virtually non-existent. I have heard of guys practicing abstinence from those desires, and I highly commend them for doing so. Stay close to him my friends. May we all find our hope and strength in him.

@@ericdaily8835 Still a lonely marginalised life for those who don't straighten out and find a woman. I practised celibacy for a decade until last year, but I was still a victim of gossip (or slander) by those Christians who did not believe or trust that my efforts were sincere, as the 'homosexual' label sticks, even more than the label 'Christian,' as they are more likely to believe you are a practising homosexual than a practising Christian. I will never 'belong' among them.
After losing a Christian job and being asked to leave a congregation it seems the 'label' sticks.

Just wanted to remind everyone in the comments below as to what sin is. It is when you start defining good and evil under YOUR own terms instead of GODS terms. Therefore, all those here that are arguing that homosexuality is not a sin needs to consider this, are you defining homosexuality under what YOU consider to be good and just or under what GOD considered to be good and just?
I think the argument in this video is pretty clear and if you are trying to find loopholes around this, you are obviously misunderstanding something because God has very clearly stated his view.
And before anyone comes for me, if you believe otherwise then that is your opinion but this is directed to those who try and twist what has been clearly stated in the bible using other things said in the bible itself!! Christianity is not a pick and choose what you like buffet and ignore all the stuff you don't want to follow.
Remember John 1:1- "...the Word was God". God doesn't contradict himself by saying one and then the other and that is all that I will say, God bless xx

I'm also a homosexual. I fell in love with a girl, I had romantic experiences even to the point of having actual sex. I did it all to the content of my heart, I had dates with her, we laughed, we talked, we shared pain and joy and all those things under the sun, we enjoyed one another's company, and yes it felt great to be free. In the long run though, I knew deep inside that there's something I just can't fulfill in me. Like I still am searching for something, some unexplainable thing that no matter how much fun we run off to, I just can't shake it away. That's when God came in.
The bible isn't a manual for us to stick our noses on and follow every rule as we walk, it simply states the truth so that when we know God, we'll also know His truth.
When I had to give up, it did hurt a lot, and it still is hurting, because life isn't perfect, but deep right down, as I walked in a relationship with God, I've never felt so happy before that I was then able to say "No" to what you guys hate saying no to. It's a je ne sais quois feeling that only you, when you taste it, could ever explain.
Lastly, if you're still reading 'til this part... I want to compare this with being in a relationship. You hate it when someone limits you when there's really nothing going on between the two of you, right? But when it's the girl you love, or the man of your dreams, you readily do as they demand because of love. So you hate it when God tells you no, because you're not really into Him. But when you knew Him, and you know He loves you and doesn't want you to be put to harm, then you trust Him enough to say no to your desires.
This is my 'Love your neighbor as you love yourself' comment.

Whether a person is a Homosexual, a murderer, a rapist or a work related paper clip thief, etc.. etc. Every single human being needs to hear the "Good News" and "believe in the Lord Jesus Christ". Once that person has placed their faith in Jesus the Christ, the Holy Spirit enters and seals that person. It is "He", the Holy Spirit that will effect every aspect of that person's life. He, the Holy Spirit WILL DO any and all changes that need changing in that person. For God alone, IS able! God Bless,

Do not fool yourselves; people who are immoral or who worship idols or are adulterers or homosexual perverts 10 or who steal or are greedy or are drunkards or who slander others or are thieves-none of these will possess God's Kingdom.

Instead, let us encourage one another all the more, since you see that the Day of the Lord is coming nearer.26 For there is no longer any sacrifice that will take away sins if we purposely go on sinning after the truth has been made known to us. 27 Instead, all that is left is to wait in fear for the coming Judgment and the fierce fire which will destroy those who oppose God!

lucas hurtado "I don't care what homosexuals say you wanna know the truth all of them are going to hell"
Sorry but you and others like you are misinterpreting the word "Truth" in the bible. GOD'S TRUTH is not the TRUTH you and others like you have been posting. You have been taking the word "Truth" out of context. In John 14:6-7, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, and the TRUTH, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you know him and have seen him"

lucas hurtado "tell me where are homosexuals going" Well it's not up to me or anyone to decide, but it's up to god. If you think you're going to heaven just because you're a Christian, you might want to think again cause you may not. Talking bad at homosexuals or telling them to go to hell is not what god wants Christians to behave. In Ephesians 4:29 (ERV - Easy-to-Read Version) "When you talk, don't say anything bad. But say the good things that people need--whatever will help them grow stronger. Then what you say will be a blessing to those who hear you" IF you're a Christian, you're not making any non-believers to have faith and salvation in God. You are only going to push them away because of your negativity. In John 4:8, "Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love" If you're not a Christian, then you shouldn't talk against homosexuals or lesbians or anyone by using the bible as a scapegoat.

The rise in homosexuality, and its acceptance by many (if not most) is a _sure_ sign that the current dispensation (the Age of Grace) is about to end. Many Christians think that the Old Testament has little bearing on the modern world, but it is actually _full_ of metaphorical pointers. Biblical Typology is a fascinating subject.

I was empty, wanting to be satisfied by the emptiness I had in my heart for the touch of another man. God filled it, I don't need it from a man anymore. He set me free with the blood of Jesus Christ. Jesus paid much too high a price for me to live in darkness my whole life. I stand as someone who knows what it's like being gay, it's an empty world driven by lust. Although many people attempt to make it work, they will stay empty on the inside seeking ways to fill that emptiness with sex and pornography. It's an endless cycle...Jesus is the way out.

The bible also said that God makes no mistakes, so why would he create someone he hates? Honestly, I don't get why a PERSON'S sexuality is up for debate. They were born the way they where. Wrong. The phrase "Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve" is not in any bible passages. It was originated from Conservative Christians. Yes, God created Adam and Eve, but He did create Steve...and Ellen as well..afterward. He created all people including gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender. And all of these people He created... He loves because God is love and God loves His children. The phrase "Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve" was to conclude why gay marriages should be banned, saying it undermines the family. But if you are really concerned with the family, you should instead take it to the government to form a bill to make laws banning divorce and remarrying, both sins of adultery. You don't have to have sex to procreate. You can have babies without having sex by using a surrogate mother.

I love the bible and the meaning it represents and I hate how the world is deviating so far from its message. But I always wondered if I would go to hell? I decided that I will always remain loyal to the lord no matter my imperfections and that I can spread the meaning of the bible and its message of love.

Simon Parker Thank you. Those are very amazing and wise words. And you're spot on, I think you're also correct about Freud coining the term. And that's exactly what I feel is that the Conservative or Democratic views on this aren't correct. Discrimination is bad but so too is pride. I love the Bible quote "Pride leads to ignorance, but with humility comes wisdom." So what I feel like what we should be focusing on is where both sides of the Homosexuality tension are wrong and what we can ALL do to be better people.
That's exactly what the sin of Sodom was. It wasn't really Homosexuality, it was pride and perversion.

Nobody ever wants to do the necessary in-depth analysis of the Hebrew wording of Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13. Nor of Deuteronomy 22:5, which doesn't mention anything whatsoever about Crossdressing, but that Israel cannot make a Law that forces Women into the Military. But the first two verses here DO NOT say anything about two males being with each other, sexually. The key word in Leviticus 18:22 is "Mishcabey" which here, has just made its second appearance in the Holy Torah. The first time is at Genesis 49:4 where Reuben loses his Birthright Blessing for having slept with his father Israel's Concubine, Bilhah. It's being used as a replacement word for "Peelegesh" which is the Hebrew word for "A Concubine." And that's not all, but there's more to it than this: the Verb-Phrase in 18:22 of Leviticus is "Lo-Tishcav," meaning simply "you(m) shall not lay..." But the Translators (conveniently maybe?) didn't pay much attention in their Hebrew classes: the Future Tense Verb directed to a Male (2nd person) is also directed to the Female (as the 3rd person). How is this reconciled in Hebrew in order to make a distinction? By use of the Pronoun of HE and/or SHE..! Which by the way, is NOT included in the Verse of Leviticus 18:22, nor in 20:13..!!
Well what then does all that mean exactly? It means that NOBODY can lay the Concubine Wife of another person..!!!
I wish people would wake up and smell the Coffee of Heaven by doing some serious research into the Hebrew language, it's Usage, Grammar and Morphology. I think it's ironic that fellow Believers always suppose that they can trust their various Translations, but a few of us, like myself, are surprised to find out that it really and truly is the most un-studied Book of ALL TIME. You guys didn't even make mention of what Yeshua (Jesus) said about the "Eunuchs." But I know that you would never connect the word "Eunuch" to what European History used it as; the word for "Homosexual." Boy Howdy, talk about having your head up your butt..! I hate having to make such a crude statement; however, this madness has got to STOP. I am amazed at how even my Great Grandmother knew this stuff. If she hadn't passed it along, I would be as ignorant of this as YOU are. I can only hope you Brothers will get serious about studying the Hebrew language of the Bible. Thank you for your other videos and Shabbat Shalom everyone!

Reading the comments is so painful. Everyone has an opinion that they all think is the right one. The bible says this! The Quran says that! Joe Blogs knows it all! Nothing I can say here will make a blind bit of difference to anyone, but all I know is that some people have morality issues but I can't take the moral high ground because it's impossible to reason with people. Maybe there is a heaven and hell, maybe when we die that's it. Either way, at some point we are going to drop down dead and all of this will not matter. If we end up in a fiery furnace for our immoral actions then only at that moment will we realise we were wrong.
On the subject in question. I believe in an intelligent designer, that there is a natural order to things. I believe that humans were made male and female for a reason. To reproduce and populate the planet. It would be absolutely impossible for Adam and Steve or Rachel and Eve to do this. Two men cannot produce babies and neither can two women, unless I missed something in biology?
And before anyone tries to throw the phobic card at me, I have friends and family who are openly gay and I love them.

What you stated on the first paragraph is impeccable, you deserve a cheer.
But when you turned things around on the second from being neutral to a judge of value, it didn't seem like just a simple "opinion", you said "humans were made male and female for a reason to reproduce and populate the planet" and "two men cannot produce babies and neither can two women, unless I missed something in biology?", despite being something scientifically true, you meant it as something utterly biased, if you have and recognise your gay friends and families, there's no reason to point that out, right? So you know there's more to "reproduce and pass on the genes" in sex right? Since you know two people of the same sex can't reproduce, you should know that there are other means to it, right? I'm not judging you, you just gave me a hypocritical impression, so excuse me if I had it anything wrong.

And how can you state sex is only meant for reproduction if science haven't proven it and not even God has said so? @@central3425 It was interesting reading my comment after 4 years. Since then I have become full-fledged atheist.
Primary purpose of sexual intimacy is social bonding and societal stability, not reproduction. But reproduction has its place, too. It is a positive side-benefit for some. Post-menopausal heterosexual couples still desire to have sex even after they are no longer able to reproduce. In some cases they have NEVER reproduced.
Homosexuality exists in EVERY animal species, and in birds, too. So, totally Natural. Nothing needs to be fixed because nothing is broken. Gay men and gay women are too-spirited people, as accepted and supported thousands of years ago by many indigenous peoples and then by many more ethnic groups. We are to be respected and even revered because we embody a larger spectrum of personhood then CIS men and CIS women. We help to keep ALL human configurations, including heterosexual pairings, stable. As gay people and as part of the larger Queer populations, we contribute a disproportionately large amount of creativity and beauty to the world, and we should be appreciated for those contributions as well as for so many more.

You seem to misunderstand that Our Father is everything EXCEPT a God of love; through the revelations and suffering of Our Savior Jesus Christ, He alone has ascertained what is and isn't sin--that forms the basis of our faith. It is a complete logical fallacy to appeal to nature; animals do not have a preconceived notion of sexuality, and so are incapable of making informed decisions like we do. We cannot compare the actions of animals, who retain eternal innocence without any immortal soul whatsoever, to the actions of humans, who souls are capable of engaging in decisions that are/are not sinful. Homosexual lifestyles are purely artificial in design, and are entirely sinful. There is nothing "natural" about being a homosexual because it is a purely social inclination; that is to say it is an active choice to be a homosexual--there is no "gay gene."

@@Rippypoo You continue to facilitate a strawman because of political trivialities. Homosexuality is socially artificial because it is a byproduct of sexual identity--nothing in nature exhibits a sexual identity like humans. All evidence of animals portraying homosexual behavior is impulsivity; animals do not actively "choose" to be gay. This is purely because homosexuality is an invention of SOCIETY, a deeply sinful and unfaithful society. Homosexuality is also encouraged by more undisciplined principles in human behavior. There is no coincidence that since the increased introduction of pornography since the 1970s there has been an increase in homosexual behavior. The average homosexual overwhelmingly reports high pornography consumption compared to your average heterosexual American, with most studies showing that higher pornography consumption is associated with increased sexual deviancy.
I do not appreciate your ad hominins however. Calling me a fascist because I desire your salvation is a deeply twisted and morally unpalatable thing to do, of which has become far too often in any online discussion. I thought by showing you this respect in my original reply, you would do the same; however it seems I am completely wrong.

The video doesn't really go into deep, exhaustive depth about *how* to argue the point; it mostly explains *why* to argue the point.
There's going to be some overlap between the "why" and the "how," but this video is pretty much an exhortation from the coach to the team to get off the bench and get in the game.

      @winterstar5750 8 років тому +6

*Summary: The bible says this, therefore we believe we should do it because we believe it to be the word of God.
The Christian faith is not about dictating the actions of others. Nor is it about following a strict set of rules. Christ himself made it clear that even the initial ten commandments no longer needed to be adhered to so long as we (in his words) "Love your neighbour as you do yourself" and "Love God with all your heart"
We don't follow the bible simply because we see it as a set of rules we must follow in order to reach heaven. We follow it because we believe that there is a creator of the entire universe who created all life and has chosen us to give eternal life to all of us.
If such an omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent does indeed exist, most would obviously trust Him enough to believe he knows what is best for us.
If that means we put our faith in him and deny certain urges, so be it.
If you were to tell a drug addict that his habit will lead to his death, he'd likely continue to consume. Though a small part of him would know deep down that it was true. Given that we believe all sin is the same, no matter its content, it seems evident to us Christians that abstaining from one sin (say drug addictions, sexual promiscuity and unprovoked violence) while ignoring what the bible says about another (homosexuality for instance) and continuing to engage in that would no doubt put us in bad light in the eyes of our Lord.

I truly, truly hate to say something on here because internet arguments result in nothing, but here is some food for thought. Many people in defense of homosexuality say that since they were born that way, it is not a sin, and they should be accepted. While this makes sense in theory, in practice, it does not. Take disabilities for example. Many people are born blind or deaf or mentally impaired, making their lives difficult and painful. Under the logic of "they were born this way," these people should stay this way. We should not help them. We should not cure them. We should let them live the way they are.
Clearly, this thought process wrong! People are not born perfect; this is a fact. This is the human dilemma, nay, the human condition. People are not meant to live in their flaws and embrace them, they must overcome them. And whether that flaw is physically being blind or mentally being homosexual, humans must not accept their flaws, but rise above them.

The Bible doesn't condemn homosexuality. There are only 5 or so references which can be used against gay people:
    1) Genesis
It's a condemnation of gang rape.
    2) & 3) Leviticus
This is part of the Holiness Code, and not the Moral Code, which means it has nothing to do with morality and is meant only for the Jews. The term translated to 'as with' means bed every other time it's used in Leviticus and when Paul referred to this passage (see my Corinthians comments) he wrote bed. There's also no way any Hebrew term can be translated to specifically mean "as with" since there are no Hebrew terms for words like "as" nor "with". The term used for abomination can only be found to convey ritual transgressions and the term for a moral transgression was not used.
    4) Romans
It's a clear cut condemnation of Pagan idolatry. Both gay and straight sex rituals were used in their idol worship. There's a good reason why homophobes only give the "for this reason" part without giving the reason.
    5) Corinthians
Paul stated "male bed" and "soft" (as in morals or fabric - this term is never used to mean some sort of mannerism.) The meaning of the two terms has been lost to history, all we do know if Paul was referring to that Leviticus passage. This passage was condemning masturbation instead of homosexuality less than 100 years ago. Before that, in the 16th century, it was condemning pedophilia and in the medieval times it was pimping.
Jesus mentions homosexuality as least twice, if not three times. He refers to gay men as born eunuchs in Matthew 19, one of the 3 types of men not made for marrying women. He meets a gay man, via the Roman Centurion trying to heal his 'pais', and says of him, "Never have I seen faith greater than this." Neither time does he condemn. There's also research that "raca", when He states "Whomever calls his brother raca..", is the word we have as the f-word today.
The greatest, most passionate love story in the Bible is between two men. Never at any point in history have two men held each other, kissing and weeping while telling each other their love for one another surpassed that of any woman nor have two men been alone in private where one takes off all of his clothes and gives it to other as a sign of devotion unless those two men were gay or bisexual.

You don't have to like it you just have to follow sometimes. It's confusing for me as a gay christian but in the end you just gotta think what is more important; the now or the eternity? Of course there's absolutely no way I'm going to tell me other gay atheistic friends to stop being gay because really there's no point in me stopping them. They're living in sin whether or not they're gay unless they come to god. I think that's the point many Christians don't realise.
When we see someone else's sin that is open and obvious we judge them because we're too afraid to see that we're just as bad as they are. One of my friends got pregnant before she married and like the loving person she was she decided to take responsibility for the baby and continue living for god. She could have easily aborted and pretended like it had never happened but she decided to keep it and got engaged to the man who got her pregnant. What did the church do? Well they all looked at her when she walked into church and the whole place was silent and judging. If that's the kind of church we have in these days I think we need to pray to God for a change. Just because their sin is more open than your sin doesn't make anyone worse or better. That goes the same with gay people. We need to stop preaching hate and start preaching the gospel aka the good news about ALL sinners being saved. Don't make them stop being gay. That's something they need to do on their own once they come to Christ. That's something that's between God and them. You can help them out like any friend helping out a Christian friend who is struggling with a sin but don't force your atheistic gay friends to stop being gay! You'll just look pretentious and stupid. You can give them your opinion but in the end it's God who changes a person's heart.

Yeah as a gay man who grew up Christian and studied the context behind those passages, this is straight up offensive. It's condescending and ridiculously reductionist. Many Christians believe that the love between two people of any kind is holy.
    Matthew 22:36-40
36 “Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?” 37 Jesus replied, “‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself. 40 The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”
God is love and obeying these two commandments fulfils all of the law. Being in a loving monogamous relationship is not a sin.

We just want to live our lives, and we don't need your sympathy or for you to pray for us. Also, LGBT+ kids get a lot more hate than heterosexual/ cis people, god wouldn't have wanted this. Ultimately, the world would be such a better place if all hate was gone. We should just support each other, and love one another.

In the same chapter, it states that planting 2 different seeds in the same hole is an abomination as is eating pork--most would agree this is ridiculous.. Why ignore those and home in on the one about homosexuality? Do we pick and choose which parts of the Bible we accept and ignore the rest?

    • @Amhlair
      @Amhlair 8 років тому

+Scott Laws - Yes, this is really the crux of the argument: are you going to pick and choose which parts of the Law to live? Condemn homos because of Leviticus? Ok, then no Red Lobster or Grand Slam breakfast, and you've got to bring that bratty teen of yours before the elders to be stoned to death. And that whole wearing phylacteries to work thing. Doing all that, too? Let's revisit James 2:8-10.
Then there's the detail that the old covenant is passed and sticking to it is pretty much telling Christ you don't need his sacrifice you'll do it yourself thank you very much. Galatians 2:21 is a good place to start in testing that notion.

Wow. 1300+ comments. Lots of drama. Lots of anger. Lots of stubbornness. Also, lots of loving kindness in there. hmmm ...
One manifestation of my sinful nature is alcoholism. It's been 5 years since I practiced the sin which is my nature to practice. I have risen above what is natural for me, and, with God's help, am now living by a standard higher than my nature.
I have alcoholic friends who are still actively drinking. Mostly they know that their drinking is bad for them and that it hurts others. I do not hate them or dislike them or look down on them simply because they have not found a connection with God sufficient to conquer their sin of alcoholism. I do my best to show loving kindness to them. I do my best to help them, but try not to enable them in their sin. (I am probably found more often on the side of enabling the I would like.) I hate the sin. It can be such a devastating sin. But I love the sinner and would do anything in my power to free him from the sin of alcoholism.
Homosexuality is just a different manifestation of that sinful nature that all people are born with. Is the homosexual born a homosexual? Of course, he is (or she).Should sin be accepted, condoned, overlooked, encouraged, called 'not sin', or enabled simply because we are born that way? Of course not! I was born an alcoholic, but today I do not live that way. We are all, yes every person without exception, called by God to put off our old sinful nature and be holy like God. We cannot do this until we call sin 'sin'.
If you are a homosexual, welcome to the human race - you are a sinner just like the rest of us - forgiveness and conquering of sin can be found in Jesus Christ. If you regularly practice homosexual behavior then your are committing sin and rebelling against God to follow your own nature, your own desires, your plan, not God's plan.
I suspect most folks can guess the rest of the schpiel. A choice must be made every day of our lives - do it my way or do it God's way. The bible is quite clear what God's way is in most areas of life, including alcoholism and homosexuality. You must simply choose to accept it or reject it, but remember - acceptance is too difficult for us without God's help, but to him who knocks the door will be opened.
    Peace to you all!

You say that by having a relationship with another man I am saying no to the plan God had for me from the start. But if He had that plan for me, how come in my whole life, not a single woman has ever come close to sexually attracting or arousing me? And how did he make me (genetics around 30%) and allow me to become (environmental factors in my early life, also beyond my control - around 70%) powerfully sexually attracted to other men? That was a very strange way of revealing His plan for me.
You say that going against God's plan for you is saying NO to GOD. What about some poor guy for whom God''s plan was lifelong chastity but who instead gets married? Surely he is saying no to God as much as I am?
Also I get that married couples have the golden ticket and can do what they want. I get that. Only such blatant favouritism can explain why the Protestant Church is fine with Christian couples using contraception throughout their married lives in blatant defiance of the command n Genesis 1 to be fruitful and multiply. They have all the fun of sex but none of the responsibilities of it. Incredible!

_If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltiness is upon them._
(From biblehub.com; New American Standard Bible)
These passages are a set of explicit instructions of how to punish specific sexual acts. Was this punishment appropriate for that time? Should this be appropriate now? These are important questions that I am disappointed the video didn't bother discussing.

There would be close to 11 billion ppl on Earth now, that would destroy the very home God made for Us, ppl would starve at an increasing rate & life would be untenable, this maybe Natures way of controling over population, whatever' love is the way the truth & the light, no Man comes unto the father but by Me"John 14 v 6! This is a somewhat counter-argument video to the video by LoveThinks "What Does the Bible Really Say About Being Gay". Undoubtedly homosexuality is a controversial topic even within the Christian community. However, I would like the maker of this video to actually read the verses in NT that those passages refers to idolatry not homosexuality being a sin. There are many Christians today who uses these verses out of context to justify their argument. Our own interpretation of the Bible do somewhat depends on our own individual's political ideologies.

i hope everyone understand that christians absolutely do not hate homosexual people. (i myself have LGBT friends) homosexuality is a satanic spirit within a person.
although that may sound ridiculous, we're certainly NOT talking about the flesh, we're talking abiut the SPIRIT. there's a very strong difference between the two. why many people get angry about this idea is that its because they only see it in terms of flesh and they refuse to take into account the spiritual reason.
if i was to explain christian perspective on homosexuality in a 'flesh' perspective it would be something like how people hate the fact that someone has cancer, but they connot hate the person for having it.

The Bible has contradictions. In John 3:16 the Bible says that God loves everyone with a saving love while other verses says that he only loves the elect with a saving love.

I’m going to assume that you are talking about Ephesians 1:4-5 and Romans 8:28-30. The Bible does say that we are predestinated. And the Bible says that God loved the whole world.
This is an apparent contradiction. But when you look at the attributes of God in relation to man, it makes perfect sense.
First. God is love. This is stated many times throughout Scripture one being John 3:16 another being 1John 4:7-8. God loves everyone and that is why He sent His only begotten Son to save us.
Second. God is Holy. That means that He cannot be in the presence of sin. This creates a problem for mankind because the Bible clearly states that all have sinned. But God in His Love provided a way for our son debt to be paid for-and the only way is Jesus (John 14:1-6)
But getting to the “contradiction” of predestination. We must realize that God is Omniscient-or all knowing. So when the Bible says that we were predestinates to become children of God. Or that we were chosen from the foundations. It isn’t saying that God chose us to save and only loves the chosen. Here the Bible is saying that from the beginning, God in his Omniscience knew who would reject Him and who would accept Him. But even those who reject God, God still loves them and gives them a way to get to Heaven.
The Bible says whosoever will May come. That is the message of Jesus. Jesus didn’t come to condemn us to hell like some think-we were already condemned and separated from God because of our sin. The purpose of Jesus coming was to save us from our sins and reconcile us to God so that we can spend forever with Him in Heaven.

The most you have with Paul here (if you were to pay more attention to his words than what you want to make of them) is that male homosexuality is a sin. But why should we believe a man who said women must keep their heads covered in church and keep quiet there?
And what does Paul say about lesbianism? Anything?
And the book of Leviticus? Do you even attempt to keep all the barmy rules in that book?
You might want to start thinking and feeling like a Christian instead of a lawyer trying to win a case so he doesn't have to admit he was ever wrong about anything. You need to understand that God gave you a conscience, and that you need to consult it. Stop slandering his creatures. This is sinful and does not please the Lord.

Thank you for a very objective and clear presentation of Biblical references. Fair, true and not judgmental. I am in the opinion that, homosexuality in itself isn't a sin but it is the homosexual lifestyle that is. A homosexual trying to live a chaste life is no different from a heterosexual who is also, based on the Bible, supposed to refrain from any sexual activity outside of marriage. A homosexual who carries himself/herself in a respectable manner is no different from a heterosexual who also doesn't behave in a manner that brings into question his/her Christian personality. I believe a homosexual can be a devout Christian as long as he/she avoids the same things that the Bible says every person, regardless of sexual orientation, should.

i appreciate that you said it's important to treat people with love no matter what mistakes they make and that you express your opinion on such a controversal topic. i was struggeling a long time with finding an opinion on this topic. seing that homosexuality is a characteristic that reaches deep into the soles of gay and lesbian people i found it hard to imagine god would refuse to love these people the way he created them. but as i love the bible i wanted to find what god sais about this topic in the bible. therefore i was confused because of the verses you also quoted in this video. how could these short sentences in leviticus that prohibiting gay sex be an appropriate way to deal with such a complex issue? in the end i talked to a theology student and also heard to lectures of a theology professor about this topic. i understood you can't know what the bible want's to say without knowing about the historical background and the reality of the people for whom were written these verses in first place. i believe the bible does have pofound wisdom for us today but it's way to easy and not adequate at all to just take these 2000 year old sentences without considering the context. in the ancient workd everyone was forced by there parents to marry by the age of about 14. there were no homosexual couples. in all languages of this time there wasn't a word for homosexuality at all. so the only things they knew were pagan cults including gay sex and probably sometimes it ocurred that sometimes two gay men accidentally met and somehow felt attracted to each other (probably not really knowing what it means to be gay at all) and had sex. in this case they were betraying there wifes. plus there was raping of men by other men as a kind of sexual violence (like exists in prisons today. this is also is no homosexuality but a way of psychologically distructing men). for these cases hoosexual sex was prohibited. not for gay or lesbian couples living in a deep relationship conparable to a normal marriage and beeing faithful to each other. that's something that didn't exist in these times and therefore never was a topic to speak about.
in the new testament things changed a bit. when paul is refering to those people having unnatural intercourse he talks about the rich society that's totally decadent and somehow started to have homosexual sex during orgys as some kind of extra pleasure to their marriages. there were poor male prostitutes that made their livings by having sex with rich men. and also women did this stuff. so also paul is not talking about a deep relationship based on love between homosexual persons.
and that's also the point ehy there's no sense in talking jesus' words about man and woman becoming one flesh and pointing out the meaning man and man or woman and woman can't become one flesh. this was never an issue in these times. that's probably why jesus didn't think it's necessary to talk about these things.
so right now for me the answer to the question "what does the bible say to homosexuallity" is "nothing". the bible doesn't say anything about homosexuallity in the way we understand this word today as it doesn't say anything aboyt cars or computers. the bible says a lot about love and jesus stresses the importance of faithfullness. these terms are surely also important for homosexual relations. (btw the term marriage is also a lot different in ancient times compared to what it's now but that's another topic)
however, i'm not an expert on these topics. so i more or less repeated the arguments i heared from people having hughe knowledge of these things. but i hope someone will take his time to read my comment and start to think about these things in a different way. the bible is precious. but it's also very complex.
excuse for grammar mistakes - i'm actually german :D

actually the bible talks directly about that subject especially in leviticus, it is inherently unnatural and always brought negative effects to its victims, humans are meant to be male and female

You say here that you take accurate Biblical knowledge and temper it with wisdom. But surely the Bible itself is wisdom? You say that you give the information in a way that shows respect for people. But surely the Bible itself is the ultimate respecter of human dignity in the image of God?
    I am so confused here.
