@@angieh4534 Women were ministering and served as deacons and leaders in the early church. It wasn't until after a few centuries that this was changed.
From the perspective of an Atheist, I just want to say that it actually just shows how fallible the Bible truly is. If the Bible were the product of some infinitely perfect divine mind, there would be no confusion regarding it message. The fact that the Bible can be interpreted to mean pretty much anything is exactly why there are so many denominations that are supposedly all based on scripture. All of you religious folks think you have the inside scoop on truth when in reality you all can't agree on SO much. As for homosexuality, the Bible never records God saying anything about it, so move on.
@@wakeupthisisntreal8168 God speaks through the prophets. God speaks through righteous men and women. As for the confusion, Peter tells us that there are falsehoods in the scriptures and that those falsehoods serve a purpose. But you try to imagine how you would do things rather than how a far superior being would do things. God, through the prophets, therefore, condemns homosexuality, calling it an abomination. So move on down that wide path that leads to destruction.
@@TrustinJC "God speaks through righteous men and women." The inherent problem is that anyone can claim that God is speaking through them. Since people who claim to be divinely inspired can never come to complete agreement, it's pretty obvious that there is no such thing as divine inspiration. People simply need to learn how to recognize their own thoughts. If you want to claim that someone is truly divinely inspired, you would need to define an objective standard for determining which interpretations of scripture, and which ideas by men who claim to be divinely inspired, are correct. And you would have to do this *without* relying on what men who have claimed to be divinely inspired said. Otherwise that would be circular reasoning. "God, through the prophets, therefore, condemns homosexuality" You see, whether you realize it or not, you're actually basing this judgement on an interpretation of the Bible. The Bible can also be interpreted as not being against homosexuality (look up the debate on the word arsenokoitai and how most versions of the Bible don't actually mention homosexuality). There's a reason why there's so many versions of the Bible, scholars can simply not agree on the meaning of every word during the translation process. That is the simple fact. Objectively speaking, there's no way to determine who is correct, it really depends on which interpretations align with your personal value system, whether you consciencly realize that or not. You need to stop gaslighting society by saying you have the inside scoop when it comes to absolute truth when the source you are claiming is absolute cannot even lead everyone to the same conclusion. That is why there are so many denominations, so many interpretations, so many rituals. No one can truly and honestly define an objective standard for deciphering truth without making some assumptions. If there are assumptions behind what you are claiming to be true, then that simply means your idea of truth is subjective. It's absurd to me, as an theist, how you can not see past your own subjective concepts of reality masked behind religion.
@@wakeupthisisntreal8168 Scripture defines "the standard". And that is not circular reasoning. Without the gold standard of scripture there would be no method to determine a true prophet from the false ones. The fact that it is so difficult to recognize true prophets from false ones is evidence of scripture being true. Christ warns Peter in the writing known as the Coptic Apocalypse of Peter that a multitude of false teachers would lead multitudes of people astray. He also warned that a man would deceive people with a manifold dogma. Dogma is what we today call doctrine and theology. Well, that is exactly what you have described. You cannot see the truth because you have a preconceived notion of how God should and would do things. You have no understanding of what scripture actually teaches. The fact that you claim there is no way to determine who and what is correct is evidence of this. Why is it so hard to understand that just as any natural human attribute and set of skills is not the same or equal from person to person, neither are spiritual attributes and skills the same or equal. And just as any natural abilities can be honed and finely tunes, so too can spiritual attributes. Just as only a very small percentage of humans will ever reach the skill and abilities needed to compete in the olympics, so too is it with matters pertaining to the spiritual. If you do not put in the work, you will never be able to compete. And you have chosen to not put in the work. That is on you. So just because you lack understanding and spiritual discernment due to laziness and ignorance does not mean those that have put in the work are in the same boat as you.

Upon believing in Him, our old self dies and we are given a new heart, new human spirit, and the Holy Spirit living in us. A born again person has completely new desires and sin will only make them miserable.

Philip was not opposed to baptizing the Ethiopian eunuch. He was sent by the Holy Spirit to lead the eunuch to Jesus and then to baptize him. It was the eunuch who did not understand what the passage in Isaiah was talking about. "How can I understand unless someone explains it to me." the eunuch asked. Philip preached Jesus to him from the book of Isaiah. The eunuch asked, "What hinders me from being baptized?" Philip said, "If you believe with all your heart." The eunuch said, "I believe that Jesus is the Son of God." Then Philip baptized him.

Just because it's in the Bible doesn't necessarily mean you are to follow it. Some things are just opinions from writers, or, examples of what not to do. For instance, the infanticide decreed by King Herod. Well, infanticide is in the Bible, and Herod did it, so why can't I kill babies? (Not that I would, but some Christians think abortion is ok). Or Paul; he killed numerous Christians before his conversion. Just because Paul is depicted as a murderer, can't I be a murderer too? You see, just because Paul said he doesn't want women to be pastors, doesn't mean God doesn't condone it. Context context context.... I know non believers get tired of hearing about context in the bible, but really each book in the bible has a context. To apply her reasoning about the book of Leviticus to the Apostle Paul is to assume the bible has just one context. What Paul spoke to the christian church is quite more applicable to today's christian church than what Moses spoke to the ancient tribes of Israel. However, Leviticus shows us about how God desires particular people who walk in his ways and closely follow his law. It's relevant to Christians because we know that God is really after people with inward parts that are like His and so Leviticus show us how particular and detailed He is about whats in our heart.
Well, then I'd like to see you paying attention that your robes are not made of two different fabrics as it is written in Lev. 19. How come that we only ever take out this book when it comes to the topic of relationships we might find weird? Still, Paul was also applicable to HIS time, which, mind I remind you, used to live already 2000 years ago. Do you know how much language changes even within a century? So how exactly is a text that we read in a language of 20 centuries ago in a translation which is already shaped by the view of the times it was translated DIRECTLY applicable to nowadays society? I'd like to give you some context: There is NO word for homosexuality in either ancient Latin, Greek or Hebrew which are the languages in which the bible was written. If you mind to look up the interlinear translation of, for example, Corinthians 6, 9-10, the words Paul uses to describe what some people later translated with "homosexuals", the words Paul uses here are actually "malakoi", meaning "effeminate boy" and "arsenokoitai" which is a neologism of Paul, a combination of the Greek words for "Men" and "bed". "Malakoi" was mostly common used in the times to describe male protitutes. These prostitutes were mostly boys AND slaves, so nowadays we would call what has been done with them r*pe and ped0philia. Since "arsenokoitai" is directly written AFTER "malakoi", it would be a valid assumption that Paul was referring to the men who used these male prostitutes for their pleasure. Tell me, how exactly is this applicable to a nowadays lived relationship with two grown up individuals who love each other equally, have the same right to consent or to say "No", not doing what they're doing out of selfish pleasure but rather out of love? Who may even help each other grow towards and walk the road that our Lord has shown us?
I hate people using our faith against us saying Christians are supposed to be forgiving and all that just so they can feel special and included. Marriage is between a man and a women.
Now I can see why Paul says..... 1 Timothy 2:12 King James Version (KJV) 12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
Women in ministry shouldn’t make us uncomfortable (Joel prophesied, Acts 2 confirms and Gal 3 reaffirms)... but what is always scary is a 2Peter 2 preacher. She is precisely what Jesus describes as a “wolf in sheep’s clothing” Matt 7:15. Too bad many will follow this well intended but false teaching and philosophy.
You'd think an ordained minister would know that John the Baptist wasn't one of the 12 disciples.

This is a prime example of someone reading what they believe rather than believing what they read.
@@TrustinJC
"God speaks through righteous men and women."
The inherent problem is that anyone can claim that God is speaking through them.
"God, through the prophets, therefore, condemns homosexuality"
You see, whether you realize it or not, you're actually basing this judgement on an interpretation of the Bible.
@@TrustinJC Let me ask you a simple question: what objective standard are you using to determine what is absolute truth?

When I bring up that verse in Leviticus, my experience with religious folks is that they always dismiss it... saying that it really doesn't matter anymore because "We're under the new covenant now". The only issue with that is that no amount of time can excuse the hloc^ust of the old testament anymore than it erases the effects of the one that happened 80 years ago. And to so easily dismiss it feels insulting to the memory of all those who were lost... More over, d eath is still on the table according to Romans... it's a spiritual d eath though (as in h ell which I would say is much worse than the capital punishment of Leviticus).
My point is that the bible says some very awful things about us and it would be SO nice if religious folks would stop saying that we aren't allowed to be hurt or offended by them...
PS... Sorry for the spelling errors. They were intentional as UA-cam sometimes doesn't allow my comments to post if I include certain words...

Preach the Word
I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

Aren't we told to rebuke false prophets sharply? In Titus 1:10-16?
Women aren't supposed to be overseers of the word, therefor if a woman is a pastor Christians should know not to listen. They more easily fall into believing and preaching false gospels- Eve fell first.
KOL False prophet? Well, to my knowledge she never prophecies anything in the video. I really do not care about your personal opinion; because no where in the Bible does Paul write "Woman can't and shouldn't be pastors". He definitely suggests against it, and also tells that he would rather a man be a pastor over a woman, but honestly, that seems like his personal preference. Just because Herod condoned the slaughter of hundreds of babies, doesn't mean God condoned it at all!! I hear you, and I see your point - I just believe it's wrong.
Roman Creed Paul didn't just suggest against it, he was clear. I'd get into your false equivalencies with Herod and Paul but I don't see the point since you don't care about my "opinion." I'm trying to work on not being quarrelsome with others, so there's no need to get into a quarrel over the word. But, this woman is misrepresenting scripture which is dangerous because it leads people astray and into believing false doctrines.
"John the Baptist was the disciple Jesus loved." John the Baptist was literally His cousin - that's why he was loved, AND he was never one of the 12 disciples.
This is not true! You don't know your Bible at all! John was one of the 12 not his cousin . His cousin was put to death before the last supper! John was the only disciple who didn't die!
She meant John the apostle;
@@davidgaines9853 John the Baptist was the child of Elizabeth and Zechariah (Luke 1:67-80). Elizabeth was Mary's cousin. (Luke 1:36). This is the same John the Baptist who baptized Jesus. (Matthew 3)

Imagine not reading the Bible and then going up and saying you understand
I hate people using our faith against us saying Christians are supposed to be forgiving and all that just so they can feel special and included. Marriage is between a man and a women.
