    Great video, for an inline mic solution I use a HD 2.30 cable with my 558s, you can use the locking mechanism but due to the thin cable thickness and plug plastic it's quite difficult to unlock it.

Normally in studio areas they tend to have 1/4” jacks I think that’s the reason why.I use the momentum 2.0 for the iPhone . I sometimes use 560 and 575 in ifi zen dac and sounds petty good .also I use my headphones on Rotel A12 t11 cd11 set up . Thanks for this video. I have been considering this for a long time now but never pulled the trigger. I’ve had so many gaming headsets and so many headphones to try to use for gaming and work calls and I can never find the perfect thing.
    I HATE not being able to hear myself talk or hear my surroundings so it has to be open back. I also hate dealing with a desktop mic/boom arm. Did you really replace yours with this mic? It sounds great. Does any audio leak from the headphones to the mic?
    This could really be the perfect combo for me. The headphones are on sale so I think I’m finally going to give this a try.
    Edit: do these make creaking/cracking sounds when you move your head around? My PC38x did that and it was so bad I had to stop using it.

    I'm glad they upgraded the cord to the smaller plug on both ends, with a simple threaded adapter for the larger size. Seems fine to me, and much simpler. For my money, they're the lightest, best fitting headphones with better than average sound. I don't need or want features that add complexity or price. Have you got them yet? I bet they work great. I have used the drop 58x, it’s very midrange based. Pleasant to listen to but not the best for details and gunshots etc. as long as you’re not competitive gaming you should be just fine.

    • @lx6381
      @lx6381 3 місяці тому

      @@hackinghifi4247 i only play counter-strike 2 competitively. and yea, i've already received and tried them. works really great. technicalities (staging, imaging etc.) aren't that important in that game because the sound engine is not that complex. also footsteps are most noticeable in the midrange. i think a neutral sound signature just works best with that game, because i've used to listen to the DT 990 Pro and the bass was too heavy (explosions from grenades or bomb were too loud and overshadowing other sounds) and gunshots were too piercing. the hd6xx is also really comfortable and non fatiguing. unfortunately i don't have the hd560s here anymore to compare but from my memory they were probably a tiny bit better and they are much cheaper here in germany. so if gaming is your main focus, i'd say go for the hd560s but the hd6xx is still the better overall product and works just as great for gaming.

    ive always had my eyes on these for the performance, slim looks, and ear cups. I would ideally buy a braided cable with a inline mic and simply plug it in to my computer for games, but ive heard of some power needs from other more audiophile reviews. My question is for a more casual user, can you just replace the cable for one with a inline mic as long as it has a 2.5mm connector? and is there anything I should look out for to avoid headaches?

    • @hackinghifi4247
      @hackinghifi4247  Рік тому +2

      Hi Kevin, no you can’t. I’d look at the boom mic and the list of compatibility of other headphones too. As long as you search using some of those compatible models and the option you pick says compatible with one of those you should be safe. It’s a locking style not just a 2.5mm. Regarding the sound these do get a boost when you give them more power. But if you’re into a neutralish presentation these sound great even with a dongle. You just lose a little bass.
      For intimate music listening the power makes a difference on a song you’ve heard a million times to sound authentic. In a game I really don’t notice a difference without an amp, it’s clean and clear for gaming really good even without an amp.
      I’d stay away from in-line mics though, they’re ok but most of the time end up half way down your chest and don’t sound nearly as good as a boom mic. The one I suggest here sounds good enough to record audio with. The last three videos I did where all done with a 560s and this boom mic. It sounds crystal clear.
      Thanks for watching!

      @hackinghifi4247 The plug is now 3.5mm versus 2.5mm. They also shortened the cable to 1.8m. The adapter also changed from 3.5mm to 6.5mm.

      The Qudelix 5k which I did a video on does the job just fine and gives you a dac amp combo that’s mobile for cheap. Or if you want a desktop setup I like the schiit magni modi combo.

    I'm a bit worried that the mic picks up the game I'm playing or the music I'm listening to and broadcasts that in the voice chat because the headphones are open backs. Did you notice anything like that?

Evan a cheap amp really brings out the fullness of sound. I’m not saying they sound bad for gaming they just won’t give you the full experience you can get with a little more power.
