My Config: Sony WH-1000XM5 + V-Moda BoomPro (~30 Euro) + Sharkoon Gaming DAC Pro S V2 (~30 Euro). No noise, crystal clear voice (thanks to the BoomPro mic) and extremely nice sound while gaming. I asked about 10x people on Discord how I sound: 9/10 points. Tip: Make sure to deactivate the "Speak-To-Chat" setting in Sony's Headphones app, otherwise the gaming sound will not be received. I also activated the ambient noise mode and set it to 15 so that I can hear my own voice clearly when I speak. I have never been as satisfied with online gaming than these days. It doesn't get any better. Especially since I no longer need a separate headset, where the mics are no good at all - at least most of them are trash.
Hey, do you have any issues with crosstalk/echo? I have the Sony XM4s and the BoomPro but the mic "records" the sound going to the headphones. This results in an echo for my friends on discord. Also for example if I make a recording with the Windows recorder while playing music on my headphones, the music is lightly audible in the recording (even if the headphones are not connected to the BoomPro cable).
@@niemeyer2580 I don't have this problem with my XM5. Both the internal mic and the Boompro Mic - even at very high music volume - do not record the sound again.
Ignore Dave's remark. Hearing the difference could come down to whatever audio output you use. If you're listening on earbuds or TV speakers, the difference might not be detectable at all. ModMic 5.0 was flawless, I couldn't detect any vocal artifacts. The Vmoda had some artifacts that prevented it from sounding totally natural and true, but overall, the vocal quality was detailed and clear. At a mere $30, the Vmoda has incredible value. For professional use where vocal quality must be as natural as possible, ModMic 5.0 is better. For gaming and general use, the Vmoda is totally sufficient and a much more reasonable option. If you get a pop filter on the Vmoda, all the better.
@Rastei Half of my entire comment is explicitly about the difference, you are just bad at reading comprehension... Or you are defensive about something. It is inextricably obvious in my comment that I was comparing their different sound signatures. If your dishonest interpretation of my comment is due to defensiveness, then I suspect that you blew your money on a ModMic, and now you're trying validate your excessive spending on something that is only minimally improved over reasonably-priced alternatives by trying to argue that the difference is larger than what it actually is.
I bought the mic a few months ago and used it with my Vmoda M-100s that I've had for 6 months to a year . The mic is alright if you're on a budget. I ran into issues with it. I had similar issues with audio going to my headphones bleeding into the microphone. I had issues with static from the cord causing noise to be made and transmitted into the microphone. I just thought the execution of this microphone was meh. Sort of an afterthought from Vmoda. I eventually bought the Sennheiser GSP 302 off Amazon and haven't looked back. Quality across the board was spot on. I still use my Vmoda's for video editing and use away from my PC, but the GSP 302 is my daily driver for gaming and streaming on my PC. One tip I can offer to those considering buying this, if you have an old Xbox 360 headset laying around, use the foam bit on the end of the microphone. I did that and it helped negate some of the popping when I say certain words.
Well. I don't know how you used it because I've got the BoomPro on my M100 as well and I've run into none of the issues you've just named. Mine works perfectly fine on XboxOne and on my PC. Maybe check your setup?
@@shadowarmor5100 I tried both the front audio ports and the rear ports for my motherboard. Both had the same static issue. Mic bleed still occurred on both front and back as well. When i got the new Sennheisers, they had the issue with audio bleed on the front, but not the back. So I can say that the front panel audio has issues. But the mic bleed did not occur on the back using the Sennheisers, which means something is up with microphone as well.
@@shadowarmor5100 I am too! It seemed like the most logical choice coming because i do gaming and content creation. Keep everything simple and minimal. I'm satisfied with just having both and just switching out depending on my use in the moment.
boii that v-moda sounds so comfortable in comparison to the included mics. i sure have to admit i still love having external mics and proper headphones.
I hope you can compare the Takstar Pro 82 with the Coolermaster Mh751(when that review comes out). The Takstar has an adjustable bass port and the Coolermaster one doesn't, would love to see how different they sound since theyre the same headphone.
The MH751 sounds nearly the same, they bumped up the bass slightly, it's still less bass then the first tick in the pro 82 bass port though. The treble is also ever so slightly tamed. Mid range is the same.
@@LifeLongCaboose thanks you, it is a shame they took the slider away as I love the second port for everything; and the 3rd one for certain EDM songs. Treble I found is harsh on the first revision, the second one uses a different driver design and it's a bit less harsh
@@VEN0M415 they took off the bass ports for patent reasons as it may have caused them issues. The MH751 is for sure the second driver. I much prefer the first one. But I also never use the bass vents as the increase in bass I find hurts the quality.

I'm not spoiling the comparison between the Takstar Pro 82 and Cooler Master MH752 though.
I had my second boompro crap out on me, just bought and received my third one, but also decided to get another gaming headset as well because my Vmoda cross-fades are 10 years old and the ear pads and top leather is falling apart. I got the Sennheiser-massdrop pc37X, I love the open sound, and surprisingly, my friends on Xbox chat say the Sennheiser microphone sounds better!
Are you using an independent sound card or USB adapter? I just received the Boom Pro this weekend and the mic is picking up background interference when I speak, no where near the quality of sound displayed in this video. I have it plugged directly into my mobo so I think it might be a ground loop issue.
If it works properly for you that's great. Unfortunately it did not work with a basic USB soundcard I am using to record my speech. Be aware it does not work with every soundcard out there.
There are 4 pin 3.5mm extensions on Amazon that you use for the boom pro on headphones that have deep socket connection. I have a status audio cb1 headphones and the extensions are perfect for the boom pro

@@adriandautoski1606 oh.. they definitely sound clear but you can only enjoy them while gaming. For music they are not really boomy or fun headphones like skull candy crushers (I don't own these) but the audio is definitely crystal clear. I also did get ear fatigue
You can modify the M50 and add a 2.5mm (male) to 3.5 mm (female) adapter and use the boom pro. That's what I did and it's worked out pretty well. However, if you try this, there's a little notch on the inside of the hole on the m50's which is used for locking the proprietary 2.5mm connector into the headphones. I think the safest way of doing this is opening up that side of the headphones and unscrewing and removing the audiojack/circuit board into which the cable connector goes. After this is out of the way (and safe from being broken) you should be able to use a drill or sharp tool to take out the notch inside. Definitely remove the internals before hand though, because I didn't and drilled too far. So, I ended up breaking the internal audio connector/board and I had to solder everything manually. Also, make sure you find an adapter which fits in the m50's, some might be too big around.
The bass on modmic 5 is a bit tighter than vmoda boom pro, but i think when comes down to productivity, the frequency that modmic 5 produces is easier to edit later on
honestly Zeos review on the Vmoda Boom Pro was better because he uses good hifi headphones which honestly destroys any "gaming" headset youll ever own just get a mayflower arc for your dac/amp a nice pair of Headphones and vmoda boom pro mic and you have the best "gaming" headset
Are you new here? because Dimitri uses Sennheiser HD 800 with The Element AMP. And that's definitely not a gaming headphones nor a gaming DAC either. try to watch his video that titled " $349 Headphone AMP vs $249 On-board Sound... Who Wins???" But, I don't think Vmoda Boom Pro could be attached on Sennheiser HD 800 tho. So, it's kinda pointless that you need to buy a hifi headphones again with single 3.5mm connector just to review this cheapo but good product.
I have a pair of M-100s and this boom mic and it makes for an excellent headset. The sound is incredibly good and the mic quality more than acceptable considering it's just $30.
What an awesome coincidence. Just bought the Vmoda Crossfade 2 with the Boom pro mic which I thought was very good and now you guys made a review about it
Been thinking of getting this for awhile but I just don't use a mic all that much and the inline mic on v-moda cables are fine enough. But wow didn't realize how great this mic sounded! Would be a definite improvemeng
I've been using the V-Moda BoomPro Mic with my Philips SHP9500S cans for about a year now. I got the headphones on a killer deal of about $55 USD and the BoomPro for around $30. It's an excellent combination!!
Can you elaborate on the compatibility issue mentioned at 7:24? You're saying that the headset needs to support a 3.5mm 4 pole connection, but the next picture shows the BoomPro has 3 pole jack.
I bought this for my Philips Fidelio X2 but I had an issue with it: i had my headphones connected to an amp and it made so much noise when I used the mic, probably because of the use of a single cable both for sound input and output. I had to ask for a refund and buy a Modmic 4.0. Really happy with this one.
Wow you finally reviewed this one! Was expecting to hear your thoughts on it for so long, I own it myself and wondered how it would fair with all the other included and dettachable mics you've reviewed so far. Seems like I made a good decision :D
The mics sounds great, but how are they with picking up background noise? My office is shared and is so my Dad's office so there are always other people in our rooms and creates a lot of background noise. I use the Astro A40s I really enjoy them, they are comfortable and are great at not picking up anyone else's voice unless they really yell towards me. I believe he is using one of the skullcandy headsets and my wife uses Hyperx cloud II and they both are terrible when it comes to picking up other voices in the room.
VModa Boom Pro with Sennheiser HD558 here, Like you stated in your video they will not work because of the different plug size, however you can buy a adapter off amazon for really cheap. Making for an amazing open back headset combo.
ModMic 5 definitely sounds the best, but the BoomPro is a close second. Given the cheaper price tag and convenience of the single cable design it seems like the BoomPro is a winner to me.
I got this mic for my Marshal monitor and Beats headphones and it works really nice and it's a good choice for students or people that don't have space or money for another pair of headphones. Go for it if you need one
My BoomPro died after a little over a year of work-from-home use. When it did work, it was great; but not happy with it only lasting a year (just after warranty expired of course). Will be looking for an alternative.
I didn't go with the BoomPro specifically for the reason that I would have to plug them into my headset. I don't want to be always wearing a mic on my headset, and I also don't want to have an additional cable when I want to swap my mic on/off. I went with the ModMic 5 for that reason. Set the mic on my desk for the moment I need it
^^ Better than alpha and g pro. But G pro and mm751 have amazing mics for the price too. Alpha has to many problems such as the drivers touching ur ears. I'd recommend the G pro and mm751 over alpha
can you start doing noise cancellation tests because in Australia we almost always have a fan on because it's far to hot not to and this becomes a problem when you want to have a good microphone.
Yep been using the V-MODA BoomPro mic for a couple of years now with my Beyerdynamic Custom one Pro. I mainly use them to Skype with my friends and Family, since I mainly work overseas. It is truly the best value for quality in a mic I have been able to find. None of that thin nasally sound you get from normal "gaming" headphone mics. It actually has a really nice full range to it, without going too deep. Which I think that many larger mics and even the ModMic 5 goes too deep. With my voice it creates a little too much "boom" and causes a lot of clipping. The price and performance of the V-MODA BoomPro Mic makes it a no brainier, IF you have a pair of headphones that can work with them. I have used the V-MODA mic with Beyerdynamic Custom one Pro, Fostex T50RP, and a modded Samson SR850 (bought on Massdrop for $20 and a 3.5 jack for $0.50 off of Digikey.. modded them to take the V-MODA mic).
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the audio input seems to be a male 3 pole jack. The end you plug into the laptop/audio card etc. is 4 pole, and therefore your headphones only need to be able to accept 3 pole in order to be compatible, and not 4 pole as he states?
I know the modmic is more expensive than this, but the fact that modmic can turn any headset into a headset with a mic is its strongest feature. That thing alone probably doesn't justify the price difference, but it's a really strong feature.

Agree...would love a review of the CM MH751/MH752!
My Config:
Sony WH-1000XM5 + V-Moda BoomPro (~30 Euro) + Sharkoon Gaming DAC Pro S V2 (~30 Euro).
No noise, crystal clear voice (thanks to the BoomPro mic) and extremely nice sound while gaming. I asked about 10x people on Discord how I sound: 9/10 points.
Tip:
Make sure to deactivate the "Speak-To-Chat" setting in Sony's Headphones app, otherwise the gaming sound will not be received.
The V-moda actually sounded pretty much like the ModMic 5, i honestly failed to hear any difference like at all, the ModMic 4 is crap.
something wrong with your hearing the ModMic 5 was certainly better sounding
@@GandalfTheSilver Wtf if you dont notice difference you are just deaf.
@Rastei
Half of my entire comment is explicitly about the difference, you are just bad at reading comprehension...
The Sennheiser HD 58x Jubilee with the ModMic 5 is the exact setup soon and I'm excited!
I use boompro for 2 years with philips fideliox2
Is x2 good for hearing footstep in pubg?
@@shamilbasayev99 incredible good in csgo atleast, cant say for pubg since i dont play it.
Mee too!
Any other suggestions? I need good bass and i play a lot of csgo.
@@ZacNorth just buy headphones over 300$ and you've good. Any Sennheiser over 200$ is great.
@@Yeah_Buddy_LIGHTWEIGHT hmm. That is a real pity. Sorry that you didn't have any luck with that mic :/
@@shadowarmor5100 I am too! It seemed like the most logical choice coming because i do gaming and content creation. Keep everything simple and minimal. I'm still happy that I have both the M100 and the Sennheiser GSP 302. I definitely don't regret getting either. I'm satisfied with just having both and just switching out depending on my use in the moment.

These are all just really good, most others aren't great.

If you have a MH751 (or MH752) you don’t even need a new mic because the one included is soo good.
I got the v-MODA BoomPro for Christmas this year, it sounds really good and works with my generic music headphones for gaming
V-MODA BoomPro + Phillips SHP9500 = Match made in heaven
yessss
This is the purchase I'm looking at right now haha
do you have replacement pads suggestion for SHP9500? I always get problems with headphones having the pads tear apart.
Cy brainwaves hm5
@@MPD90 because you can't find similar quality for less than 100 dollars
boii that v-moda sounds so comfortable in comparison to the included mics. i sure have to admit i still love having external mics and proper headphones.
But I also never use the bass vents as the increase in bass I find hurts the quality.
also the youtuber Z Reviews, reviewed the Cooler Master MH752 recently (I know this comment you posted is from a month ago, just in case you haven't seen of the video) and compared it to the Takstar Pro 82, and in his Cloud Alpha review, hinted at it, saying it was better than the Cloud Alpha in his opinion. I'm not spoiling the comparison between the Takstar Pro 82 and Cooler Master MH752 though.
Venom415 also the 751s have more slightly more soundstage than the Takstars
The mic is so much better than every single gaming headset I've seen.
I got it for YEARS along with their headsets, they're insanely good
would it be worth to buy this if I already have a HyperX Alpha headset?
Definitely yes
The quality of the mic is ass
@@vorlinn which one? The HyperX's?
Zidrick no the Logitech g pro gaming headset without the extra mic he’s using
@@vorlinn oh okay
There are 4 pin 3.5mm extensions on Amazon that you use for the boom pro on headphones that have deep socket connection. I have a status audio cb1 headphones and the extensions are perfect for the boom pro
I love how the included mic with the CM MH752 al most sounds just as great as the BoomPro. Definitely the best pair I've ever had in a long time.
Do they last long I've read bad reviews about he build quality..
@@LingatsuDesignAndDev Indeed, bought them when they launched, still feels like new. Besides, they come with a 2 years Local Warranty, so even if you have to spend the small amount for new ones each time, it won't break the bank.
@@K41N-7 Sure. Did you compare them to the Hyperxcloud headset? I wonder if the lack of bass is a problem for music listening
@@K41N-7 is there a big difference with the mh751 and 752?
I thought it was interesting how you guys hadn't tried any of the vmoda stuff. I can understand the headphones because they're kinda.... juvenile? But the mic was a new product to myself as well when I looked at the headphones again.
wtf the CoolerMaster Mic Sounds so great it even beats the ModMic4 by far.
OMG thank youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu. I did instantly oreder me a pair of MH751. I am so done with my Sennheier + Modmic Combo with the stupid 2 cables and pretty much every Gaming Headset sucks except of the Sennheiser Game One which is however super ugly.
FINALLY THANKS COOER MASTER FOR DELIVERING A GOOD GAMING HEADSET WITHOUT THE "7.1 Surrrrrrrrrroung Sound which sounds like a trashcan" AND DIMITRY for showing it to us :3
juhu
I have this mic with the Phillips SHP9500S, but the problem I run into is that the mic picks up audio from the headphones. I often end up just draping it over my shoulder so that my voice can still be picked up, but not the other audio.
Is that only when something is loud, or does it happen at basically any volume level?
@@Korijira generally just when something is loud and the sound peaks. Its worst in a game like PUBG where I turn my volume up to hear footsteps, but I have problems in almost every other game too. Ymmv though, since I think I play with my headphones turned up louder than other people.
Damn. Hopefully I don't have similar issues, I'm planning on picking up this guy to improve my audio.
Top tier headset reviewer not making a separate video for MH752 cooler master????????
Why is the G PRO Test different from the previous one?
the second video the audio is different for worse, what would be the reason?
it appears after the logitech Artemis G933 in the previous video.
I'm studying a new headset with the best microphone cost benefit.
Does it work on hyperx alpha
Hey, I don't have the answer but I recently got the alpha and I was not impressed. They sound like any other headphones. Did face the same problem? Is there a solution?

Holy moly!! About time you notice this mic! Took you long enough!
Yeah this microphone won't work with a pair of headphones... Like Audio-Technica ATH-M50. Too bad. But that's cool
if you have the m50x bt version it does they have replaced the 2,5 with a 3,5 mm jack :P
@@floeche9737 Ok cool. I don't have those.
There are 2.5 mm alternatives that fit your headphones. Search on Amazon for Neomusica mic ( I think that's what it's called)
@@joof8342 so you basically destroyed your Audio Technicas and their sound quality with your little experiment...
The bass on modmic 5 is a bit tighter than vmoda boom pro, but i think when comes down to productivity, the frequency that modmic 5 produces is easier to edit later on
NH752 sounds good out of the box, actually.
You guys should review the CM MH751/752!
honestly Zeos review on the Vmoda Boom Pro was better because he uses good hifi headphones which honestly destroys any "gaming" headset youll ever own just get a mayflower arc for your dac/amp a nice pair of Headphones and vmoda boom pro mic and you have the best "gaming" headset
Are you new here? because Dimitri uses Sennheiser HD 800 with The Element AMP. And that's definitely not a gaming headphones nor a gaming DAC either.
try to watch his video that titled "
$349 Headphone AMP vs $249 On-board Sound... Who Wins???"
But, I don't think Vmoda Boom Pro could be attached on Sennheiser HD 800 tho. So, it's kinda pointless that you need to buy a hifi headphones again with single 3.5mm connector just to review this cheapo but good product.
This guy is a douche lol
But with the mod mic in this video he was using HD 58x's from Massdrop. Those are pretty well reviewed.
Flubs but a funny douche😭😭
I’ve been using this mic for the past 2-3 years , it’s been a great daily driver . Highly recommend it. 😍
yikes, amazon shopping is shit in norway. 56 dollars in total for 30 dollar product. Nice...
I have a pair of M-100s and this boom mic and it makes for an excellent headset. The sound is incredibly good and the mic quality more than acceptable considering it's just $30.
Wow... Only took you guys like 3 years. 😒
Lol true. I guess he was waiting for it to get a review unit. Cheap ass.
The quality is jaw dropping👀
What an awesome coincidence. Just bought the Vmoda Crossfade 2 with the Boom pro mic which I thought was very good and now you guys made a review about it
been using this mic for years with my Philips Fidelio X2s....love the setup
Been thinking of getting this for awhile but I just don't use a mic all that much and the inline mic on v-moda cables are fine enough. But wow didn't realize how great this mic sounded! Would be a definite improvemeng
I've been using the V-Moda BoomPro Mic with my Philips SHP9500S cans for about a year now. I got the headphones on a killer deal of about $55 USD and the BoomPro for around $30. It's an excellent combination!!
Is the V-MODA BoomPro still available? They have been out of stock for a few months now...
Can you elaborate on the compatibility issue mentioned at 7:24? You're saying that the headset needs to support a 3.5mm 4 pole connection, but the next picture shows the BoomPro has 3 pole jack.
I guess he made a mistake there. The other side of the cable does have a 4 pole connection to make the mic work on your devices.
For a 3.5mm TRS connection, doesn't it require a plug-in-power source?
I bought this for my Philips Fidelio X2 but I had an issue with it: i had my headphones connected to an amp and it made so much noise when I used the mic, probably because of the use of a single cable both for sound input and output.
I had to ask for a refund and buy a Modmic 4.0. Really happy with this one.
Amazing... The sound quality produced by this microphone is fantastic. Thanks I didn't know this kind of product.
Do you use any audio interface or post production tools in those examples?
What if you connect the v-Moda mic to a inear headset like the steelseries tusq ? Would it be a inear Headset with a good mic ?
VModa Boom Pro with Sennheiser HD558 here, Like you stated in your video they will not work because of the different plug size, however you can buy a adapter off amazon for really cheap. Making for an amazing open back headset combo.
Hello, thanks for the video! 5 years later and reddit lead me to the 9600 + V MODA boompro :D
wow MH751 mic are really clear sound using wired mode, but how about using dongle with the v moda?
Set the mic on my desk for the moment I need it
I just subscribed. I appreciate how good these videos are structured and compared.
You should've reviewed Cooler Master Mh751 instead. It's definetly the best headset for that price ( Takstar pro 82, what can you say?)
Modded my M40x to use a 3.5mm jack to accommodate these and I couldn't be happier.
A great set of mic samples. Thank you for that.
