I’m starting to think the 560’s are the perfect headphones for its price and actually just reveal how crappy everyone’s music is and that’s why people don’t like it because other headphones cover it up with it’s “sparkly treble”.
@@julianc691the headphones are relatively easy to drive so you dont need an amp. if you do want one, a lightweight one like a btr3 from fiio will work fine
What do you think about the 560S?! This headphone was fairly difficult to review because of the 6XX plus all the comparisons. @@efilnikufesina7532 At $140 new on amazon it is a Fantastic headphone, I bought this as well as a Sundara and a 6XX. I tested them with my Son and we loved the HD560S for it ability to give a true neutral sound with great instrument separation. But my Son decided ton the 6XX and I wanted the Sundaras. I decided on the Sundaras because they did every thing the HD560S but had better a fuller bass and also I was able to get a great deal on them about below $250, but I would say they are very close. I also am using a Schiitt Modi/Magni combo and they all sound amazing on that set up.
Awesome! Interesting what you and your son experienced with the different phones. I'm going to start with the 560s, already ordered should get it today. Im going to research the other ones you also like with the amp setup. Thank you for the info!
Awesome review, you’re pretty much spot on with everything, I have both hd560s and hd650 and I love swapping between them. The 560s is great for female vocals, just the right amount of energy without ever getting sibilant
Great video. a question, in your opinion which is better the HIFIMAN he400se or the sennheiser hd 560s? I am not sure which one to choose as I have seen that both are excellent and have a similar price. but I would like your personal opinion on which is better.
i give my opinion for ppl wondering that question - i got 3 pairs of he400se and altho more comfortable ( bigger earcups) but way havier and bigger so its 50/50 all 3 paris of he400 se came rattling at low freq or making other distortion in higher frequency at the end i gave up and got the hd560s and for the price its veryt hard to beat
Hey there, not sure if you are familiar with teh 599 as well but what the heck will ask ya anyway, for gaming and casual use would you go for the 599 or 560s where I live they are the same price? In terms of Breathability and comfort which one is better. Also do they leak a lot of sound or I need to max them up a lot? Thanks!
thanks stu for ur review, i just bought hd560s cuz i got good deal for around 150$. sadly till now i still havent bought decent dacs, and i saw ur website that k3 is one of best for pc. do u think k3 is good paired with hd560s?
Could the Sennheiser HD 560 S headphones be suitable for K-pop, mainly for female groups like ITZY, aespa, LE SSERAFIM, BLACKPINK, etc.? How are they for watching movies? So far, I’ve only used gaming headphones and JBL, so I don’t know what real high-quality sound is like or if I’ll enjoy it. But I want to try! I’m planning to get open-back headphones since I have a quiet place where I won’t disturb anyone, and no one will disturb me either. The sense of presence is very important to me. I hope the Sennheiser HD 560 S can deliver that. I also considered the Sennheiser HD 599 but realized that for female vocals, the Sennheiser HD 560 S might be a better choice. Am I right?
Doesn't sound to bright on the Zen that's for sure, more to Warm and dark. The treble and the base is what i like with the 560s.. What i want more is more room and soundstage... It's not easy to match, I think i prefer Dragonfly black before ifi Zen.
Cheers brother. Just got a pair of these in 2024 currently using with the AQ Red, sounds very acceptable indeed. Will be running with a Topping E50 and L50 at later date. Peace.
Hello Mate, Just found your channel, and was so intrigued by such detailed reviews you have here, and watched a bunch of them!!! Since I am a noob, I could not fully understand everything, but things still made quite a bit of sense. In my country, the 560S, ATG702 and ATG712 Pro are all almost the same price. Which one would you recommend for Gaming (mostly adventure games and not FPS) and Movies (Atmos etc.) mostly (say 75%), and only a little bit of music (25%)
Hey man that's tough! Probably 702 as it's more flavorful and lively. 560S is good but a bit dull for my tastes and I'd probably never buy one. :) homestudiobasics.com/fiio-k5-pro-amp-dac-review/
@@HomeStudioBasics Thanks mate. I went with 712 pro, and K5 pro. So far so good, gaming movies and even Spotify is quite a bit of fun. My only worry is that I don't turn into an audiophile. Pple here suggest me, leave while you still can 😂
I used to have only Sennheiser products, but few years ago due to economical situation I wanted to get just 1 decent performing and decent priced headphone for gaming and music. So I went from HD650 (also sold the Topping DX3-Pro I had) to AKG K702 and got the E10K. From time to time I feel like getting back to the headphone game and get more pairs, get back to Sennheiser, but then I watch these videos and think like nah I'm good. To me, as I am not a basshead, the K702 is perfect all-rounder. I use Oratory's Harman EQ with a bit of tuning to my preference. Huge soundstage is perfect for FPS-games (also I use a bit different EQ for games to hear steps better etc.) and especially acoustic music and vocals sound really nice. In EU the K702 is 130-140€ and the E10K is like 60-70€, so you get a decent setup sub 200€. Also thanks for your videos bro :)!
You're welcome! Yeah i use the K702 for gaming and sound whore foot steps quite a bit ;) I'm pretty much always prepared for the enemy but sometimes it doesn't matter if your connection fails you. I've been watching a lot of kill cams lately and I'll have put half a clip into someone and they kill me. When I watch the kill cam it doesn't match what happened at all xD So it shows me basically standing there. A wise man once said Multiplayer (esp. Call of Duty) is all connection and it's very true.
Great video, man! What do you think would be the hd 560s in the next tier, say near the 500usd? I'm looking for hi fi earphones that are flat. I want to listen more of what was recorded, mixed, mastered etc., than a reinterpretation of the earphones. I've seen many reviews of focals, hifiman, etc, but they all seem to have their own character and curve.
This is very good discussion. The 560S sounds, I don’t know, like maybe not what I am used to in the treble. I like the 6XX, but it’s a bit too warm for me, I like the 600 more and for me it is worth it to pay a little more for it than the 560s or the 6XX. I have not seen or tried a K702, but I like my AKG K361 a lot. And I really like my Ananda
Yeah man! Thank you! Love the Ananda. Do you hear that tiny treble bite tho? Haven't heard the 361 but Metal sent me his 371 and I liked them quite a bit. Wasn't a huge huge fan of that shelf, but it works for the most part. There are just some tracks that sound lol bad with it, but that has more to do with the track itself.
@@HomeStudioBasics There is definitely some sibilance with certain songs but I still enjoy the Ananda headphone a lot also. I haven’t heard the 371. Some like it more than the 361 and some like the 361 more.
If by illegal drugs you mean baking soda 😂😂😂 Thanks man! Lol if you only knew what went into this review. It was one of those one off filming excursions where literally everything that could have went wrong, went wrong. lmao. Definitely not trying to sell you a patreon subscription, but I did post an outtakes video for members only and it's pretty funny. It might even be worth the price of admission for only a month haha.
Buying a refurbished 560s my next paycheck and a 6xx on black Friday was my game plan, this video cemented it. Watching this on a 599SE I got for $60 which is also pretty good, I think they'll all complement each other well.
Hey man! Yeah there's def a shelf there and it's more present than 702 for sure. 702's sub-bass rolls off more. Interesting question about the brightness I'd probably say 702 is a bit brighter but it's very close actually. You'll notice the 702 will sound crisper I think if that helps. The 560S' treble "peak" (if you can even call it that since I don't personally believe it's a bright headphone) can manifest when you're swapping headphones but if you're listening to it on its own the treble sounds just about perfect (maybe a tiny amount of peaky). 702 is similar in that I never find the treble peaky or sibilant.
Nice review, thanks. I'm wondering if the 560s can reproduce low frequencies, like sub ? I need an open-back headphone for compose/mix music, but in my music style (dark techno) there is a lot of low frequencies, like sub, rumble... I know this headphone is quite flat and light on bass when listening music, etc..., but with an EQ, or with powerfull sub from a virtual synth, do you think this 560s can reproduce these low frequencies ? Thanks.
@@stoyannikolov1017 nope. It's possible to make music and mix music with headphones, better than bedroom studio without good monitors and accoustic treatments. And open headphones are obligatory for spacial imaging, stereo stage... Closed back headphones don't allow that.
@@ezzel-husseiny8815 more or less yes. The HD560S can reproduce sub quite well, and without distortion. I also use a headphones calibration software I got for almost nothing (Hornet VHS), it's quite efficient.
Are these good headphones to begin with? it seems like in this price range it's all just preference, I won't really know what I'll like until I get them though will I?
I am a happy user of HD555 (~16 years), but I need to by myself a gift for hard work and I want something better, an upgrade. What would that be: HD560S, HD600, HD650 or HD660S2? I am watching/reading reviews for the third day and I can't make up my mind. Also - should I buy amp/dac for my new toy, cause I don't have one?

Hey man yeah 560S better than 6XX/58X competitive.. 880 it's a bit closer but I still would probably go 560S or K702. :) Some people say no for 702 competitive but I love it. Can't go wrong with 560S though as it fills in the spots to NW and NE of your head better.
I personally disliked the HD 560 S, lot of little things bothered me about it, but I agree the R70X is a much better headphone and is a headphone I prefer over HD 6xx series not just the HD 560 S. Not only is it technically better in basically every way to the HD 560 S, it also has an enjoyable musicality whereas the HD 560 S is quite dull and boring to listen to. The R70X does cost more though. For the same price as the HD 560 S, I'll take a DT 880 or an HD 6XX over the HD 560 S any day as those are more resolving headphones.
@@chefsteve8381 in Russia HD560s - 200$~, HD600 - 260$; HD650 around 270-280$, while R70x costs 400$ lmao BRUH So HD600 just kicks on a tube amp R70x butt in every way being 140$ cheaper
I'm probably not the guy to ask about IEMs because I just don't care for them much. I use a wireless pair at the gym (HIFIMAN TWS600) for convenience and that's about it. I will say that certain IEMs I've tried are super good at Soundstage height and clarity, but I just don't like actually wearing them lol. I'm in love with full sized headphones and I'LL SHOUT IT FROM THE ROOFTOPS!! xD
Hey man thank you! I have the 58X on my head now! There's something I really love about it even though in comparison to 560S it kind of has that overly holographic quality. In all honesty, I think it provides some extra liveliness that the 560S lacks even though the 560S is better tuned. Headphones are so weird.
Great review as usual, what would you choose between k702, k712 or 560s. Bare in mind I use Zen stack, I'm an older guy and like 60s and 70s most but not exclusively. I know, difficult question. I was going for Grado 325x until you put me off 👍
Hey man thank you! Personal opinion K702. Here you can see why + how I personally rank them: homestudiobasics.com/akg-k612-vs-k712-vs-k702-vs-k701-vs-q701/ But yeah I linked you the 702 review in the other comment :)
Hey man!! how are you doing? As we discussed, I ended up buying these headphones with the fiio k3 and its a pretty good combo but it still doesn't get loud enough for me in some songs, moreover talking about the build, I found the cushions to be really hard and sometimes they do feel a bit cheap compared to my sony noise canceling headphones, I don't mind the long cable but didn't get the big deal about openback as I'm not able to tell much difference against closedback though they are more airy and in some songs I do get the crazy "is someone in my room" vibes but in general I don't notice much but overall I do really love them as they are really clear and they have so much more range than my sony's although are a bit harsh to listen to sometimes, the area I was really disappointed in was gaming as while playing warzone sometimes multiple footsteps do merge together too much and sounds like they're coming from everywhere, I don't know if this game just has that bad of a sound effects but just something I noticed as gaming was a big priority, I hoped a little more separation or maybe I'm just too much of a dummy to understand the crazy upgrade I apparently got😅. But anyways, loved the review and keep doing what you're doing man, goodluck!!
Yeah dude it was terrifying to be honest but I was trying to remain calm because I knew it would pass. I drink Sleepytime extra strength anytime I get the palps and it calms my system down within like 5 seconds lol. I will keep that in mind! Are you on PSN?
@@libEluLLah I mean, I did say in some songs and k3 ain't that powerful of a amp/dac and you might just have more sensitive hearing than me, moreover I do usually listen louder from my headphones than others, like I max out the volume of k3 a lotta times, but from my phone, they're definitely not loud enough for me, don't know what else I can say🤷♂️
Hey I only own the Superlux HD 681 and was looking for these to upgrade my current headphone, the 681. Do you know if and how these would be an upgrade? Thanks a lot.

That aside, watching Stu has saved my thousands I dont have from equipment addiction to actually enjoying music on a pair of speakers I would be to embarrassed to tell you because they sound so good for so little, and the fact that I discover Headphone nirvana through Stu... Man I love listing to my music. Break down not break dance: My tower speakers do Jazz and female vocals heavenly, fast rock ...ahhh they get tired.. and this is were I can enjoy my favorite Led Zeppelin songs lets say, on my head phones. Back in 2010 the Moto was Decent headphones are equivalent to speakers 3-5 times their price or something like that. Anyways as they say olive oil in the morning and scotch and edible at night and your mid hifi becomes supper hifi. Thanks Stu.
The HD600 has, like most Sennheiser the "Sennheiser veil". So anyone used to that would maybe react to a non-typical increase in treble in the upper range a bit. As long as it isn't shrill, sibilant and painful I see it as a good thing. Because it adds to clarity and range IMO. I have many Sennheiser headphones and at times I do wish they have a little bit more upper.
For the 650s I would agree with that but not so much the 600s. If you look at measurements of the 600 they have some of the best treble measurements of any headphone when compared to the Harman curve. I know older 650s (6xx included) were definitely veiled thoiugh I've heard that newer itterations are better though. The 560s when compared to the harman curve defintely has some raised treble and upper mids. I'm not saying that that is bad you may just prefer more treble than the average person or your ears just aren't as senstive to treble, that's fine. I just think it's a reach to call the HD 600s veiled
@@HomeStudioBasics well I have a 660s but due to covid regulations shipping it to you from India is kinda impossible at this point. About 58X, yeah I had that one for a few months as well. For the price, it's pretty damn good. Love to know what you feel about it.
@@bandhanjha8563 Yeah it's def good if a bit aggressive and slightly overly holographic but what's interesting is that the 560S actually exposed those flaws in it haha.
Hey man thank you! Tough question. I'd probably just go straight for 6XX at the price. Soundstage won't be as good but it's still just a better buy imo. I'm a little biased against 500 series headphones to be honest, but to me it's just a better investment to get a 600 line headphone as I just have no use for a 560S or really any of them. homestudiobasics.com/the-5-best-audiophile-headphones-for-under-500/ As mentioned in the review, even though I have a 600 I also have a 702 for gaming so I guess it would also depend on if you do a lot of gaming/film. Like if I didn't already have a 702 I may consider a 560S, but that's the only reason.
I bought the 560s a month ago , I was very exited to hear them ,I did a little burn in and started using them .At first I liked them a lot ,the bass is fast and detailed and goes deep the mids are very neutral and detailed .The problem with me began with the tremble ,to me it sounds too bright ,maybe its because of the unit I have or its what Andrew from the headphone show said about the clamping force. It makes everything sound thin and at the same time fatiguing .I tried eq them bassed on the THS measurements ,now I am not an eq expert I only tried to lower some db around 3k to 6k and they immediately sounded more natural to me ,the timber was much much better and the headphone felt that it had more body .After AB the eq on and off I thing that the headphone's peaky treble holds it back , again that is how it sounded to my unit and to my head with the clamping force
What's also interesting is that the 560S does tend to expose flaws in other headphones, but I would agree with you to an extent. I personally find the clamping force perfect, but there def is something going on in the treble that's not 100% ideal I guess is the best way I can put it. I really liked what they did with the bass shelf as it's not too much, and the mids to me are right, but yeah, the high end can sound kind of like.. overly glassy? Or something. To me, it's more subtle and def not as bright as other cans. It's also still a mostly 500 sounding headphone but I like the improvements they made. I owned a 558 and sold it, and basically could never see myself with a headphone from this line long term would be the main takeaway.
@@HomeStudioBasics Yes the bass is very good and fast and goes very deep .Now that Sennheiser has found a way to have good bass extension and good stage , I hope we will see an 6 or 7 or maybe 8 hundred dollar headphone that can do what the 6xx line and the 560s do but better
Do you prefer hd560s or K702? I am looking for a budget headphones with similar soundstage as K701 but with 4.4mm balance option so as to be able to drive through a dongle dac/amp. An easy to drive headphone but with the character of K701/702 Thanks
Tough-ish call but K702. If I owned the 560S I would just end up selling it probably. Good headphone but I've always had issues with 500 series headphones: homestudiobasics.com/the-sennheiser-hd500-series/ Did you buy anything yet?
@@HomeStudioBasics I use to listen with my HD600 with an excellent budget dongle the EPZ TP50 in 4.4mm balance cable. If you have a chance check that dongle and give us feedback. And as I do not want my dac amp to take space to the desk or any other place that I may sit up and relax listening my music, I look for portable solution, but I am afraid if they can drive my cans (HD600,K701). And I am not an IEM guy as I do not like the feel of in-ears to my ears! So I need to connect my TP50 to my old external amplifier that is a Heed CanAmp that drives very well my K701. I do not want something so big to come around, so I was looking for a headphone with 4.4mm connection as an alternative open pack with big soundstage. I fin only Sundara to be an option but I do not think that has such a big soundstage as K701. So I still look forward and I see the new headphone of Drop+Brell OAE1. Which looks very promising with very good price. Moreover my Go Link that I do not use so much as I am a bit skeptic if keep it or not
Had to return the 6xx, the clamp and way they sat on my head really hurt my TMJ causing some ringing in my ears even after making them looser. I had an X2 for several years and still have a pc38x for the last year so a 560s would feel the same comfort wise which is good but after learning of the 702 I ordered that instead. Way I see it is it should be as comfortable as my X2s were but more resolving due to not being bass heavy. I'll likely end up using the 702s for awhile before splurging for something endgame like the 800s.
@@HomeStudioBasics Actually got X2HRs, the pads are way nicer than my original X2s they definitely changed them to some sort of memory foam type deal. After a few minutes on the head they disappear and are extremely comfortable. Couldn't say that for any other headphone I've tried so far. I'm quite content with the sound too, they really are an insane deal in audio. I did try the 560S, a bit too shouty and harsh for me. I think the most important thing in a headphone is definitely comfort first, sound second. I prefer a warmer sound and can appreciate a dose of bass which the X2s fulfill for me.
It will probably be a small upgrade yes, but not huge or anything. 560s is slightly more refined sounding and less sloppy than the others in the 500 series. Here are my complete thoughts: homestudiobasics.com/the-sennheiser-hd500-series/
Hi the 560 is a good all rounder headphones for around £130 in the Uk , deffo right about the 6xx , I have those as well with the customer cans bass mod with thicker ear pads and they are compatible with the 660s2 of which I have also
With 560s the hype is so crazy to the point I almost bought one already having owned HD650, HD598, HD598CS and now HD599. This review made me second guessing so hopefully I'll stick to my EQed HD599, which has super energetic lively sound suitable for almost any genre. After listening to many HD5 series and reading some reviews I am confident most of the lineup is basically same sh*t with slight differences in tuning that can be easily fixed and adjusted to preference. Maybe I'm wrong but I feel like 560s would not bring anything new to the table compared to 599, which surely has some 250hz bump resulting in boominess, but like I said easy to fix with EQ. Sennheiser HD560s has more neutrualish tunning out of the box and that's it basically. Not worth spending extra coin over 599 or even 579 often times at 80-100$ promo sales.
the 560s is one of the few dynamic driver headphones with the sound profile closest to absolute flatness on the market, atm. If you think that isn't worthy of hype, be my guest, i kinda wish i bought the 560s instead of my 599, after i bought my first amplifier. :P It should also be noted that Sennheisers do not EQ that well, but if you can't hear the difference, then i guess it doesn't matter to you, lol. xD
I own 560s, 599 and 6xx. 560s is much closer to 6xx than to 599 in terms of technical performance. Its not the same as other 500s. Believe me i have heard others, all of them are basically the same with different tuning.
Yes, You're feeling is wrong..😂 they bring much different sound to the table. I love me my 599's, perfect all rounder, great for listening. The 599 and 560s can be had for the same prices depending on sales, but even still I paid $30 more for the 560s, and don't regret it. 560s is way clearer, clean, wide, really natural. On paper technically the better headphone, and overall that is true to its sound. Owning AKG k240, k240ii, k271ii, k702, Shure srh840, srh440a, Sennheiser HD25, hd599, hd560s, and hd600. Looking to get hd569, srh840a, and Philips x2hr.
i m really interested in trying the 560s because they can be dirty cheap here on used market, but something that holds me back buying even a new one is: replacing earpads. I tried to figure this out but i havent found anything on that on youtube. Someone mentioned in a review that you cant replace the earpads on the 560s. And when i go online to buy 560s earpads...there are literally none. I cannot buy earpads for them. And this would knock them out right away for me because this would pretty much mean that if i wear those earpads down or i wanna clean them them.. i kind of need to buy a new pair of headphones
Complete noob to this and so did not understand a lot, but nonetheless, thank you for the detailed review. I've been leaning towards buying these as an upgrade from the in ear headphones that come with a mobile phone purchase lol, as they seem to be well reviewed and they aren't super bass boosted (which I absolutely despise). I listen to a lot of pop-punk, pop-rock, pop, indie pop, etc... From what I understand, you want good trebles (???) for those genres, so maybe it's time to go back to the internet search rabbit hole...
My pleasure, Jenny! The 560S is a good headphone but not something I'd keep long term because it just ends up sounding dull and bland to me as much as I tried to convince myself otherwise. I listen to a lot of Indie Pop as well.
Hey man I wouldn't get something under 100. My recommendations in entry level are Zen, K5 Pro, or ATOM. homestudiobasics.com/ifi-zen-vs-fiio-k5-pro-vs-jds-atom-vs-bravo-ocean/
Hey man it would depend on the motherboard. My old T510 is a hell no, but most modern laptops' soundcards are really good. My newer Lenovo X1 Extreme actually sounds pretty good.
Sorry about the late comment. I'm a complete noob when it comes to sound so I wanted to understand something. I just upgraded from the Hyperx alpha (been using for years) to 560s. All the music sounds generally better, yet there is still this feeling of a cover I need to remove when compared to the Alpha, it is especially apparent in speech. Is this normal ? It is the same sort of feeling when you try a treble boost preset then remove it, everything suddenly sounds more blocked. Do I just need to get used to it?
S for Sandwich... You mean an meatloaf sandwich right? I'm considering this and pairing them with a G6. Although not immediately, but I've been eying the G6 for a while. But for now, and my budget, and what I already own to pair it to. The HD560s is winning among all the headphones I've been looking at. And after over 100 reviews. 6XX was also an option. And the HD 58X a consideration if found for dirt cheap. But as a brand new shiny new pair of cans. the 560 is winning.
Yes, meatloaf sammy. Yeah those are all good. 560S is almost perfectly tuned but may sound dull to you after some months. Still love the 6XX. 58X is a decent headphone but not as good as the others. To me it's like a photo with too much contrast if that makes sense. A bit artificial but still a decent buy. 6XX is probably the best value.
to me the sound separation and imaging is good but struggle in games for sound queue depth. Especially in Rainbow Six siege and Battlefield 2042. Just music wise sounds good but most good headphones do.
Both are very efficient but 560S has lower impedance so a little easier to drive though 6XX has always been super easy as well. I mostly go by Sensitivity rating as I find even high impedance headphones aren't that fussy usually.
I am debating on getting the 560s or something with planer magnetic drivers in the same budget like the Hifiman Deva pro or the HE400 or the Sundara closed back. I mostly use headphones for gaming and I have the SteelSeries game dac Gen 2 that includes the ESS saber quad chip and it’s HiFi certified. I hope it’s good enough to drive a headphone with planer magnetic drivers
Hi. I want to buy my first pro headphones, what do you mean dull or fun? I'm listening to music with very cheap headphones and everything is ok but I thought to buy something more expensive .
I'm having trouble picking the 6xx or 560s to upgrade my 599. I game, listen to music but i also want to use it for my guitar processor (line 6 helix). What should i get between the two? I have the fiio k5 pro.
Hey man yeah that's tough because the 560S is a bit better for gaming than the 6XX but I don't like it much for general music listening as it becomes kind of dull after awhile. If you're mostly just tracking and gaming I'd probably get the 560S tbh. 6XX is more for just music listening imo.
I have the K712pro, and do like em, but i feel like they're too big, its like wearing a sofa on your head or a gaming headset, which i am not a fan. I was thinking of getting the 560s (if on sale this black friday) for gaming, but i hear that their sound stage is meh. Compared to the HD598 which i also owned, and the k712pro, how do they fare in comparison (for gaming)?
Many say that 560s are one of the best of gaming. There are some comparisons on youtube and I found this one channel few weeks back named Fresh Reviews, that does comparisons with really all of the headphones out there in any price range and he prefers 560s in general over all of them for gaming. And he really gives detailed info, explanations and comparisons about all of them how they produce sounds in different competitive games. He seems like a pretty good competitive gamer too and really cares for precise sound and imaging etc. in them.
Yeah I mean you can't go wrong with a 560S for gaming and I think I outlined my reasoning about all the ones I tested in this video. It's just that I personally prefer a K702 by a slight margin.
missed out on these headphones for black friday. 450 and 560 were same price, bought 450 se and realized 560 has 1/3 more vocal range on both high and low frequency than the 450. oof!
Hello everybody! PLEASE HELP ME!!! I have been choosing headphones for about 3 months and I can't decide and listen to them. Headphones are needed for: 1. Mixing music. 2. Gaming (r6s, footsteps) 3. Listening music. I chose a lot of models for myself, but I don't know which one is louder. My preferences in sound are versatility, so that it is suitable for everything, and I also like a medium and large stage (in 600/650/6xx, for example, a small stage). Headphones for choice: 1. DT1990 2. Sundara 3. HD560s 4. HD660s 5. SendyAudio Aiva 6. Sivga Phoenix 7. LCD 1 8. AD1000x 9. K712/702 10. R70X
QUESTION: Are replacement pads and cables for the 560s the same as the rest of the 500 series? I own these headphones and think the cable is just ridiculous.
Hey man I think they all utilize the 2.5mm click/lock so yeah I want to say yes. Pads I'm not entirely sure about but my guess is also yes as they look and feel like the exact same pads from older models I've owned or demoed.
@@HomeStudioBasics well, I can say the cable is definitely the same because I order one, it came yesterday and it fits. I’m gonna order the pads now too. The stock ones are a little thin and I’m not a fan of the foam inside. They definitely sound great!
K702 or Hifiman HE4XX? Or does anyone have suggestions for a better set of planars in a comparable price range that might beat out K702. Don't think I'm ready to drop $300+ on sundaras
Hey man I wouldn't get a 4XX due to QC and Sundara you're also rolling the dice but I think they've rectified most issues in the actual lineup (not the drop lineup). The design of the Drop 4XX is kind of terrible to be honest. I would never buy that headphone ever. I would go for a 2020 revision 400i, 400se, or DEVA as the build is fixed and comfort is incredible. Then upgrade to Sundara later. homestudiobasics.com/hifiman-he4xx-vs-400i-vs-400s-vs-sundara/ This article houses all of my 400 line impressions basically, so def check it out and bookmark it for later impressions/updates. :)
This review is spot on man, just sold my 560s after a month, I was planning to use it only for gaming but not impressed, and music sounded dull on them. Don’t know why this headphone got this much hype lol, K702 blew it out of the water.
Yeah man when it first came out and everyone was slobbering all over it I thought "Yeah, the shills are out in full force already" xD Def excellent tuning but a boring sound. It's basically the same as the rest of the 500 series albeit a little bit more refined, yes. And as you said, 702 is a better headphone and I still use it every day.
looks like this is kind of the grand-grand son of my 15 years daily driver HD 590. :D btw, don't you get annoyed by the bump the new 5ers have inside the earcup? i heard some people hate it.
hey i have 700 bucks to blow, looking for a good headphone setup. i mainly listen to rap, nas, kanye, wayne, uzi. Any ideas to get the best bang for my buck? im new in this realm lol
Oh you're new here? Well let me introduce you to my friend Headphone Kermit. Also have you heard the new nas album? Also best bang for buck: HD6XX + Zen/K5 Pro or ATOM stack. go here: homestudiobasics.com/the-5-best-audiophile-headphones-for-under-500/ and comment with questions :)
@@HomeStudioBasics the ol Dac said retired so I’m gonna get the atom dac+ instead, you think that’s fine? Also are the hd6xx good for rap or is there a better option, I was reading about the rate of diminishing returns and all that. Either way I’m excited to dive into the rabbit hole
@@HomeStudioBasics hey so I bought the 6xx and the atom stack, do I need any cables with in or everything should be good to go? Also what’s the difference between tube amps and solid state?
Honestly it's not headphones that worry much as much as it is my "chain" when it comes to sound. There's so much conflicting information out there about amps, dacs, and headphones that I never truly know if what I'm getting is "neutral"
Hey man most companies are honest about their specs so super low output impedance on paper will almost always translate to the same experience listening - i.e. neutral, clean, sterile, etc.
Help!!! Senheiser HD560S or Philips SHP9600? I think open back headphones are overrated in some ways Cuz most of them lack Bass. In my Personal preference I preffer headphones with at least positive Bass frequency, like the Sony XM3 sound superp in my opinion, I loved them and I don't mind if the sound feels inside your head rather than from the sides I can enjoy both ways. However I was planning to get a pair of open back headphones to have the duo. Using my Sony Xperia 1 iii so I don't think I need a DAC.
Man looks like this video was made just for me , I was pondering to buy a month old hd560s for 150 dollars when I already have hd660s and k712 pro as my dynamic driver duo , looks like your answer is "no" and I agree now , people say this hobby sucks up money and reviewers are one of the factors , well Stu you have saved me money be it in this case or when I skipped schiit stack to buy fiio k5 pro .
Allow me to introduce myself first. I have been hired by am independent firm to find the right candidate to save this country from corporate take over and as I clocked out earlier today thinking, now it's time to check out what some guys and girls think about headphones, I have accidentally found our next United States presidential nomination. You have been chosen. by me. I still have to run this by my superiors but I'm more than confident that they will agree. The only question here is, will you accept this offer to save the free world?
I’m starting to think the 560’s are the perfect headphones for its price and actually just reveal how crappy everyone’s music is and that’s why people don’t like it because other headphones cover it up with it’s “sparkly treble”.
Hey you're not wrong as it it is a perfectly tuned headphone. :)

Between the 560S and the 58X, which one has better value?
@@dm5177 Thanks, man! I'd go 560S on value for sure. Think of the 58X like an image in photoshop that was a bit too overly saturated. Def check the review out as well if you haven't already. It's 5,000+ words and will clarify everything as well as go over a bunch of headphone comparisons.
Not sure how you don’t have more subscribers brother. Great content.
Hey man thank you!
Great review Thanks! I just bought these amazon has them for $140 great deal, the review was very fun with great jokes and info.
Hey, I was thinking about getting these through Amazon. Did you end up liking them?
Great video, curious if you were using the ifi zen dac v1 or the v2 when testing this headphone.
HD490 Pro might get you off. Entertaining review with good info man.
Cheers brother. Just got a pair of these in 2024 currently using with the AQ Red, sounds very acceptable indeed. Will be running with a Topping E50 and L50 at later date. Peace.
Nice! Let me know if you get sick of them like most people (including myself)
Austrian hi x65
Have a pair of hd555. Are leaning towards buying the hd650. Is that a good switch up?
Hey man yeah but you'll sacrifice some Soundstage width.
Great review! Just wondering if any illegal drugs might have been consumed prior to or during the making of this video. Cracked my ass up! Thanks!

@@Kiwi_2k24 if I ever have a legitimate answer for why I’d need three pairs I’ll get back to you, I just like collecting stuff
@@Kiwi_2k24 life with less than 3 pairs of headphones is a dull affair
Hey Stu, does HD560s have noticeable amount more bass than K702? And which one is brighter?
Thanks.
How did you manage this issue?
common sense if u make music dont make it on headphones 1 and 2nd use closed backs
They are almost immaculately tuned, yes. You may find them dull after a while though.

The 560s is a wonderful headphone but for me the R70X kicks it butt in every way ! its a must listen to headphone. both sound awesome on a tube amp !

Hey man thank you! I have the 58X on my head now! There's something I really love about it even though in comparison to 560S it kind of has that overly holographic quality. In all honesty, I think it provides some extra liveliness that the 560S lacks even though the 560S is better tuned. Headphones are so weird.

Hey man!! how are you doing?

I’m looking at them for mixing. would you recommend them for that use case?
Yeah they'd do well! Here's what I generally recommend for mixing: homestudiobasics.com/the-best-studio-headphones-for-mixing/
I guess you should try 660s next
@@HomeStudioBasics well I have a 660s but due to covid regulations shipping it to you from India is kinda impossible at this point. About 58X, yeah I had that one for a few months as well. For the price, it's pretty damn good. Love to know what you feel about it.

I hope you can get a 660S in the future so we can hear your opinions about it.
I really want to so I can add it to my final 58x/6xx/600/650 shootout!!
I run my PS4 through my Sanskrit 2, Asgard 3 to Monolith M570s. And as a note, Mr. Macho was an all star wrestler.
@@HomeStudioBasics lol
What would be a better upgrade coming from a foam modded HD 558? HD 560s or HD 600/6XX? Great review btw.
Hey man thank you! Tough question. I'd probably just go straight for 6XX at the price. Soundstage won't be as good but it's still just a better buy imo. I'm a little biased against 500 series headphones to be honest, but to me it's just a better investment to get a 600 line headphone as I just have no use for a 560S or really any of them. homestudiobasics.com/the-5-best-audiophile-headphones-for-under-500/
As mentioned in the review, even though I have a 600 I also have a 702 for gaming so I guess it would also depend on if you do a lot of gaming/film.
Try stretching them out, i use my computer case as a frame to do it, over time it will loosen up and run it on a tube amp sounds much better imop.
@@chefsteve8381 Thx I will try stretching them a bit but I don't have a tube amp ,which tube amp do you use ?
@@Spyrozzz little dot mk2 and xduoo mt 602 are a good start
@@HomeStudioBasics Yes the bass is very good and fast and goes very deep .Now that Sennheiser has found a way to have good bass extension and good stage , I hope we will see an 6 or 7 or maybe 8 hundred dollar headphone that can do what the 6xx line and the 560s do but better
Do you prefer hd560s or K702?
I am looking for a budget headphones with similar soundstage as K701 but with 4.4mm balance option so as to be able to drive through a dongle dac/amp.
An easy to drive headphone but with the character of K701/702
Thanks
Tough-ish call but K702. If I owned the 560S I would just end up selling it probably. Good headphone but I've always had issues with 500 series headphones: homestudiobasics.com/the-sennheiser-hd500-series/
Did you buy anything yet?
Sorry to hear that! Keep me posted.
In my country, the AKG K702 is available for $125 while the Sennheiser HD 560S is for $191. Is the HD 560S worth paying $66 more?
yes
i have a hd599 is it worth to buy the 560s?
It should also be noted that Sennheisers do not EQ that well, but if you can't hear the difference, then i guess it doesn't matter to you, lol. xD
@@MyouKyuubi I wish I bought 560s instead of DT990 Pro but that was 2 year ago
Well they do have new 42mm transducers. Instead of the constantly same 40mm they always used and tuned. It's the same ones as the 660S.
I would figure that you could use any 5 series pads right? Maybe I'm wrong but I swap out the pads between my pc38x and my old hd 518s
Hifiman he400se vs hd560s?
Hd560s vs hd650?
Does the hd560s need an amp
You'll need a DAC first and foremost sometimes AMP is needed to connect it all together.
Are you going to get your hands on the Sivga sv021 ??? 🍻 great looking set of cans 🎧
Hey man maybe!
I have a x570 aorus pro wifi mobo, is that enough to power 560s? If not, what amp/dac combo do you recommend under 100% thank you 🙏
Hey man I wouldn't get something under 100. My recommendations in entry level are Zen, K5 Pro, or ATOM. homestudiobasics.com/ifi-zen-vs-fiio-k5-pro-vs-jds-atom-vs-bravo-ocean/
do you think you need that ifi zen dac V2 to power the 560s correctly ?? or is an audio from a modern-day motherboard enough?
Hey man it would depend on the motherboard. My old T510 is a hell no, but most modern laptops' soundcards are really good. My newer Lenovo X1 Extreme actually sounds pretty good.
I have the rog strix b-550-A on my pc seems like a solid one I guess
Try it and see if you like it. Sound but also volume is important. You do want some headroom.
Comparing the 560s to the 600 series reminds me of the JBL 306mk2 to the Mackie MR624 studio monitors. Both great, both subjectively preferential.
Yeah they are a bit different.
6XX is probably the best value.
which is brighter , 599 or 560s
Probably 560S.
to me the sound separation and imaging is good but struggle in games for sound queue depth. Especially in Rainbow Six siege and Battlefield 2042. Just music wise sounds good but most good headphones do.
? For music which is easier to drive. 560s vs 6xx. I don't want to use an amp all the time.
Have you decided on something? Let me know.
Would the sound blaster g6 dac be able to drive these to it's full potential?
The senny 560s are a bit dull. Kind of worrying. Could I EQ them so they sound a bit more “fun”?
Hi. I want to buy my first pro headphones, what do you mean dull or fun? I'm listening to music with very cheap headphones and everything is ok but I thought to buy something more expensive .
Bro?
I'm having trouble picking the 6xx or 560s to upgrade my 599. I game, listen to music but i also want to use it for my guitar processor (line 6 helix). What should i get between the two? I have the fiio k5 pro.
Hey man yeah that's tough because the 560S is a bit better for gaming than the 6XX but I don't like it much for general music listening as it becomes kind of dull after awhile. If you're mostly just tracking and gaming I'd probably get the 560S tbh. 6XX is more for just music listening imo.
@@HomeStudioBasics Music listening is important to me. I might get the 6xx and use my 599 for gaming.
Good combo! I have k702 for gaming and hd600 for music but am demoing other stuff atm.
Hi! Which one should pickup from those hd560, hd58x jubile, philips x2, akg k72 for music. Thanks.
It's just that I personally prefer a K702 by a slight margin.
i had 2 akg k702, sound is amazing I love it. Solder came off both units. Id take the HD560s at this price point.
🙂
Hello what’s the best low mid budget dac amp for the HD 560s?
K5 Pro or ATOM are my top choices now. Zen is overpriced at $190 imo.
Grab a 2nd hand zen stack. can pick up quite cheaply. Run iFi stack and very happy. Even just running the iFi DAC alone huge improvement.
missed out on these headphones for black friday. 450 and 560 were same price, bought 450 se and realized 560 has 1/3 more vocal range on both high and low frequency than the 450. oof!
HD560S vs K702 vs DT990 600ohm?
Hello everybody! PLEASE HELP ME!!!
I have been choosing headphones for about 3 months and I can't decide and listen to them.
Headphones are needed for:
1. Mixing music.
2. Gaming (r6s, footsteps)
3. Listening music.
I chose a lot of models for myself, but I don't know which one is louder. My preferences in sound are versatility, so that it is suitable for everything, and I also like a medium and large stage (in 600/650/6xx, for example, a small stage).
Headphones for choice:
1. DT1990 2. Sundara 3. HD560s 4. HD660s 5. SendyAudio Aiva 6. Sivga Phoenix 7. LCD 1 8. AD1000x 9. K712/702 10. R70X
So glad you reviewed these.
Yeah man! Been meaning to get to them for awhile. I don't know if I already responded to this but some of my responses have been disappearing lol.
they really come into their own when hooked up to a tube amp like the schitt vali 3 .
nice
Can i use them with fiio e10k? I need them for music only. Thanks 😁
Yeah that will work!
Outside of the HD 800, which Sennheiser model has less "veil" and offers better clarity in the sound? 6xx? 600? 560s? 599?58x?
I'm leaning 6XX with honorable mention to 58X. The problem with the 58x though is that it's a bit grainy and a tad more unrefined.
QUESTION: Are replacement pads and cables for the 560s the same as the rest of the 500 series? I own these headphones and think the cable is just ridiculous.
Check out NewFantasia cables on Amazon. I have the replacement and it's much nicer than stock cable.
@@tcash23 so any HD500 will fit the 560s, correct?
Hey man I think they all utilize the 2.5mm click/lock so yeah I want to say yes. Pads I'm not entirely sure about but my guess is also yes as they look and feel like the exact same pads from older models I've owned or demoed.
@@HomeStudioBasics well, I can say the cable is definitely the same because I order one, it came yesterday and it fits. I’m gonna order the pads now too. The stock ones are a little thin and I’m not a fan of the foam inside. They definitely sound great!
Can the ps4 pro decently run the 560s if plugged directly to the console without an amp? What about when plugged into the controller?
btw, don't you get annoyed by the bump the new 5ers have inside the earcup? i heard some people hate it.
Didn't even notice that bump to be honest lol. xD
I came back to this review for...the meat loaf. 8:40

Did you use zen bass boost?
A little. It's good with some tracks meh with others.

I have both. 560s > 9600

The only question here is, will you accept this offer to save the free world?
Would you recommend these for mixing rap vocals at home? to get a neutral mix across all platforms?
