1. Thank you for this tutorial! Especially because the 2023 rollout is so new. You saved me on a project. 2. It's so refreshing to hear another female's voice in the industry putting out tutorials. It may seem like an arbitrary thing, but being female and in the industry, I didn't realize how much I appreciate it until actually watching your video. 🙏👏
Thank you - this is a lovely effect and had so much fun following along. Unfortunately, I couldn't get my colours as bright as yours. I also noticed that I didn't really have a need for the colour correction node to add contrast to the surface - the contrast was already there, but lost quite a bit of saturation. Love your videos and learning so much. Thank you!
That's gorgeous. I didn't know particles could be treated as fields. There seems to perpetually be just one more thing to know in C4D. Supergroovy. Your voice is quite pleasant to listen to as well. Sub'd and awaiting more from you.
@@TheFriendsOfMotion Hi Elisabeth, nice to know. Keep it up, your tutorials are really good, and not just rehashing what everyone else is doing. I have been watching C4D tutorials for about a decade now, and yours is right up there with GSG, Rocket Lasso etc.
Thanks a lot for the tutorial, this is so useful and the way you explain is fantastic. Could you share sometime how to set up the lightning of the "light coloured" glass?
@@TheFriendsOfMotion you can cut it into several videos, which will make a tutorial with follow-up a bit like a netflix series: p ... in any case this Microsoft project is really very nice and I don't think I've come across tutorials with this level of skills on youtube :)
Hi, Elizabeth, it's a great tutorial. I was working on R25, after added the spherical field, nothing happened, can you advise how to solve it? I've had the text editable and select regular grid.
Mmm not sure, since I’ve only tested this out on 2023, my best tip would be to start in a clean fresh new project and just bring the editable text in and add the color vertex and test by adding a sphere in the field. If it still doesn’t work perhaps you need too upgrade?
@@TheFriendsOfMotion Thanks for your kind reply and I've solved it and add more subdivision, that's done. However, I meet some problem when creating the material, I don't have redshift, can PBR material be made like your redshift material?
I've solved the issue, if you use lower version, first, you need to make extruded text editable, and also add more subdivision surface to the text object
Mmm sounds like a redshift setting that is missing, did you watch the video all the way? I’m going through some ‘gotchas’ that might help , also this tutorial was done with an older version of c4d, what version are u using?
hi Yash, yes I believe you can use it in the color map (since that is usually how a gaming assets are created)- but to be honest, not sure how you would get that nice glass transparent texture blend
Hi Andrew, thanks for the response. Yes, I'll have a new setup with my next tutorial, feel free to let me know how it sounds once it is dropped. It took me forever to figure out, I can now almost do a tutorial on sound too!l😂 Thanks for watching ☺
Hi Elizabeth! This tutorial is great!! However I'm having some problems getting the vertex color tag to apply to my text. Any idea why it wouldn't show up after adding the tag?
Thanks. A few things could be the issue 1. Are you in c4d 2023? 2. Make sure your type have enough geometry, use a regular grid in the caps instead of ngons 3. If it still doesn’t work , try a simple scene in a new project (just text) or even just a cube 4. Try to make text editable (right click connect objects and delete)5. I found 2023 have bugs, it might not be you 🙃 6. Try doing it in R26 but make the text editable or first try on an easier shape like a cube that’s editable . Let us know your solution in case someone has the same problem
@@TheFriendsOfMotion Thanks for the quick reply! I was accidentally using an old version of C4d and went ahead and reinstalled 2023. My mistake! Can’t wait to finish out this tutorial :)
Your lesson is like dynamite-small time frame - HUGE impact - danke, tak and domo. Keep up the great work. I do have a basic Q though: the emitted particles render as expected in the RS Render view, but I can't figure out why they won't render properly when I try to render a frame from the project. I tried putting a RS tag and twiddling w/ various Particle tab settings, to no effect. Any ideas? Thx.
Mmm, so many things I can think of but since you say it’s working in your RS view it’s a tough one. I would 1. Start with a new clean scene 2.reset all your RS render settings to default 3. Make sure to clear baked cache 4.use just one emitter with half the particles 5. Skip the material blender and first just get a simple material without the glass Let see if that works - then you can slowly start layer more complexity - let me know
@@TheFriendsOfMotion Well, you have good instincts as well as mad design skillz ;) - I did as you suggested, bare-bones rig, and it worked. I'll go back and try re-building the whole project to see if I can get the effect on the glass. Again thanks for jumping in to troubleshoot and please-keep doing what you do!
@@bhavana01123 Awesome, great news! I do think that 2023 still have loads of bugs, I keep getting strange things happen o me. It might not be you and just the new software - good luck!
@@TheFriendsOfMotion Hiya, just to close the loop on this one - whew:) YES, it was due to a bug. I got Maxon TechSupport involved and it was simply, an un-ironed out 'edge-case' bug. Again, such a creative idea to share, you've branch'ed my creative path - forward and upward. Toda.
Elizabeth and guys, could you kindly advice how to get rid of this pixel effect of the particles? (which you can see on the second frame of Elizabeth's video as well)
Hi there, I think the pixel effect is due to the lack of subdivisions. You need quite a dense mesh. Try to decrease the size of the regular grid in the extrusion. If it’s 1cm for example , make it 0.4cm, let me know if works? 🙂
@@TheFriendsOfMotion Elizabeth thank you so much for such a quick answer and great tutorial 🙂 I tried your tutorial not on a text but on a model of a parfum. And your advice helped😄 No pixels anymore, but right after I'm rising subdi the freeze effect works strange...
@@milatsumay4853 can you try to reapply the vertex map, I think it might need to recalculate with the new mesh. I had some bugs too when I played with it , so it might not be you but the software. I find it easy to troubleshoot by first creating a simple scene in fresh project (if it’s a bug). A perfume bottle with vertex maps sounds very cool, hope it works!❤️

Is this effect possible in R18? There is the Vertex Color tag, but no fields. So is it possible to use an Emitter to change object colour without a field?

Great tutorial! But I don't understand why your Vertex Color map is smooth. I tried to follow step by step, but my Vertex Color map depend by polygon count
Yes you are right, unfortunately your geometry needs quite a lot of subdivisions to make it smooth. Did you change your n-gons to regular grid? You will see some of my renders are also a little jagged like the one at 0:09, with my final renders I added some more geometry to get it smoother
