  • In this video we listen to the Wisycom MCR54 expander in the Sennheiser commander compatibility code and compare the voice sound quality with the Sennheiser ew500 G4 transmitter. Best of all, we'll do this while unboxing Betso Bowtie antennas! Two videos in one. What will you do with all that extra time?

    Hey Norm. Hope you're doing great. Thank you so much for these videos. Pretty much had all my questions answered. As you rightly pointed out in our correspondence, the Sennheiser TX into the MCR54 does sound a bit more gritty (somewhere in the High Miss) as compared to a slightly rounded sound on the EK500 receiver. Still a very good investment when it comes to utilising the Sennheiser TXs.

      Thanks Mark. There is a second Sennheiser compander mode on the MCR54 I’m experimenting with and I think it sounds even better. Follow up video coming soon!

    @The UnMarketing Group You're partially wrong on the Sennheiser diversity. It does feature antenna diversity and in theory a second antenna, which is actually a combination of the audio output cable shield as well as some internal metal parts (like charging contacts which almost nobody uses). So, by default the 2nd antenna isn't really a proper antenna but doing a double SMA mod on the Sennies (only applies to 100 series, lack of space in the 500/2000) you can add another proper antenna for a real antenna diversity setup.
    P.S. You can see which antenna is currently used by looking at the display above the RF meter that shows "I" or "II". "II" being the 2nd antenna.

      Thank you for your comment. Yes, if I wasn't clear I was referring to true diversity vs. antenna diversity. As I become more familiar with the differences and capabilities between the G4 receivers, which are quite good and the Wisycom MCR54 I find myself appreciating these differences more and more.

    When you do the range test next, you can do with Sennheiser Tx too. Good job!

      Yes, absolutely! I’ll use a G4 body pack and the G4 and Wisycom receiver. Thanks!

    Hey ! Quick question : do you setup your Mixpre in LINE or MIC level ? And what is your output level on the MCR54 ? It goes to +18u max (top and base level). I think it's always better for distortion to output at max +18dBu to enter in LINE level with a gain of 0dB from MixPre that can goes to +28dBu input max (so we have headroom). But when I want to boost a bit on the MixPre I hear of course more hiss than in MIC level. In MIC level in the MixPre I'd have to set the MCR 54 in +14dBu max (+12 max level and 14 top level) for output as Mixpre input max for MIC level is +14dBu, but I'm affraid of hitting MicPre a bit hard at +14dBu hence adding a bit too much of distortion. What is your 'input' on that ? :)

    Hi! Is your mcr54 showing battery level at EVO mode?

    With Sennheiser Phantom Tx, It sounds a bit thin at mid-low frequency. How do you feel? Want to hear normal Pin mic Tx sound(Cos11 or other professional lavs) Thank you.

      Thanks for your comments. I might have not been using the optimal compander compatibility mode. I used SEN but based on comments posted have also been using the EVO mode. Will run this test again and this time will use a pin/lav mic for comparison. Stay tuned!

    Isn't Sen mode for 3000/5000 Sennheiser series? Thought there was another mode for the evolution series that might be better suited?
    In this setup, the native G4 receiver sounds better to my ears. Almost like it has better bass response, and wisy sounds a bit roomy for some reason. Thank you a lot for this test. Would be curious if you find the Evo mode

      SEN is the HiDyn Plus (3000/5000) compander and EVO is the HDX (Evolution/2000) compander. The MCR54 can support numerous companders including Q5X, Overline, Audio Ltd., 3 legacy Shure companders.

      Thank you very much for your comment and feedback. Based on your comment I did a quick comparison of both the SEN and EVO modes and while they both sound good, I believe that you are correct - the EVO mode sounds better. I’m going to conduct the a comparison between the EVO and SEN modes and will post that shortly. Stay tuned!

    is it possible to do an IR sync between the wisycom receiver to the sennheiser transmitters? or do you have to manually connect them?

    • @TheUnMarketingGroup
      @TheUnMarketingGroup  2 роки тому +1

      Great question. I was pretty sure that you could not but tested today to confirm. You cannot IR sync a Sennheiser TX from the MCR54. So you just need to manually enter the channel into the Sennheiser Transmitter.

    Sennheiser SK 5212-II has better sound quality than Wisycom MTP 41/40 transmitter... Yes the SK 5212 was released a long time ago in 2005, SK 5212-II is a bit newer it was released in 2011, but I think it is the best analog transmitter, and EM 3732-II the best analog receiver. There is also a handheld version SKM 5200-II. Have you ever tried using that equipment if so what do you think?

    • @TheUnMarketingGroup
      @TheUnMarketingGroup  Рік тому

      Unfortunately I have not had the opportunity to try these. Sennheiser professional makes some top quality stuff for sure.
