    Really nice small “no bag” build! I think this would be great for walk and talks, especially now that we have the MixPre’s. Being someone who wants to primarily do bag work, I definitely want to try designing something like this for smaller shoots where I don’t need a bigger bag!

    Thanks for this I enjoy helping out and doing sound as a hobby on no budget indy films, I am getting on retired now and the people really appreciate the help with a bit better quality sound, when I can get away with it using a Zoom F6 and stingray bag around the waste with Sennheiser G4's and MKE2 mics and tentacle sync's getting away form bigger orca bag and harness

    Great low profile rig! i always try to optimise my rig to get it even lighter. love the size of the mix pre 3 but the lack of XLR/AES is a dealbreaker for most of my work

      Thabks Mx May. Yeah, AES would be killer. Maybe V3 down the road.

    I have been going in similar direction. Been using Feather Rig for my Nova for a few months now. It is so light and with it having the receivers and ifb transmitter built in to the nova, and, the feather rig having the battery cup, Most gigs are covered. I also use Ktek pouch for my wireless keyboard for on the go meta data.

      Sounds awesome Adam, I really like what the Nova offers size and feature wise! Not familiar with feather rig?

    Perhaps it can evolve with the MixPre6 and the WisyCom MCR54 towards a Rig for 4 lavs and a wireless boompole.

    Hey Michael, great set up. I went to the mix pre 10t after using 552 and 633 for that same weight reason. My rig is still probably heavier than this streamlined rig. It really distributes the weight around your body as opposed to all the weight being totally out front. I also encourage everyone to get your harnass custom fit, no matter how long it takes. I was working for months with the harnass not set up right and my back was awful, kinda still hurts from that, but is slowly getting better. All the best.

    • @jasonnakai4700
      @jasonnakai4700 3 роки тому

      For clarity: Your set up distributes the weight around your body and looks more comfortable compared to standard bag mixing.

      Great idea about custom fitting harnesses, I’m curious who you had do that or did you modify an existing one?

    • @jasonnakai4700
      @jasonnakai4700 3 роки тому

      @@MichaelWynneCAS Re: Customer fit. I had to spend many hours moving/ adjusting my harnass until it fit me like a glove, especially in the back area. Initially, when I got my bag, I didn't consider my bag weight when attached to the harnass, so it rode way too low, and putting excess weight on my lower back, instead of redistributing the weight to the shoulders, and waist. It's not particularly fun to do this but since I got it fitted correctly, I am not having any more back issues!

    I have been looking at getting a MixPre for a light rig. The only thing missing is dual record. I have had too many SD card failures in the past to rely just on one.

    • @MichaelWynneCAS
      @MichaelWynneCAS  3 роки тому +3

      I believe the V2 has dual record with a USB drive if I’m not mistaken, but the DCR822 can act as a dual system of sorts as well.

    For the body straps, do those typically work with any sound bag, or do you usually need to get one specifically made for your bag? And is this the best body strap you've used? In the market for a body strap and waist/belt strap

    • @MichaelWynneCAS
      @MichaelWynneCAS  2 роки тому

      Hi Ryan, I’m sure there are some specific options out there, but with my rig I typically use different size carabiners, etc and just tweak according to the set up.
