This, tbh. The fact that they're charging 8000 crowns for it and luring you into their scam crates is especially worse when you consider that all the assets and animations of the polymorph have existed in game since 2020
I 100% agree,it would have meant so much more to show it off being earned, thats why i didnt buy it. People walking around with that polymorgh don't understand the struggle of vatershrans.
That polymorph is probably exempt from that one rule due to it technically not being a part of the crates itself, and is considered a separate item. I think that endeavours should be balanced in such a way that its possible to get 16,000 at most every 90 days to ensure that a player can get one radiant mount or several other smaller things. They endeavoured, they earned it. As for crates I think my biggest issue with them is duplicates, which are extremely obnoxious especially as they don't even give half of the gem value back. It should be half as bare minimum or equal, maybe raising a little with rarity. Better yet, no dupes at all, this way there is still a gamble to be able to get what you want with the crates purchased, but if you do choose to keep buying them you will eventually get nothing but consumables. This would be great for collectors and if anything would probably cause more purchases to be made in the long run, because the crates would be less predatory and intimidating.
Great video, I learned a few things. I love Benevolent's site (TY for shoutout!). Here are a few comments I have to add. Daily endeavors have been consistently 10 or15 seals since Feb 2022. ZOS has done a pretty good job limiting endeavours that would be behind paywalls (eg. DLC specific content) but overall the endeavor tasks are skewed in favor of the PvE playstyle. One aspect of the endeavors not mentioned in the video that affects obtaining seals is an examination of the tasks themselves. There have been some subtle tweaking of tasks to increase quantities required. For example, "place 7 furnishings" slowly becomes with 'place 10 furnishings' or "use ultimates 3 times' to 'use ultimates 5 times'. I don't have the detailed data since the end of year one to easily analyze trend to determine how significant the changes are.

I know at the beginning a lot (?) seemed to be more PVP focused and people complained about that. All my current mounts were bought with endeavours. People have an obsession with radiant Apex, but the ones I like cost 3600 seals, some of the fancy ones 8k, so I enjoy what they have done. But I also agree that would be wonderful if we could buy any mount we wanted with crowns.
Crownstore is predatory monetization, promoting gambling and crown crates should be banned worldwide. The problem is that when some people want to pay hundreds and thousands of USD for virtual items, ZOS will not stop (miss)using it. As for as endeavours, I just recently spend 3600 for motif book, which I later found can be bought as separate pages for around 200k golds because it was NOT crownstore exclusive. In other words. 200k golds equals couple of hours of farming. 3600 seals represents 2 months effort and dozen of in game hours. SO it is not only predatory and problematic from ethic point of view, but they even SCAMMED me and givemy for my hard earned endeavours a crappy motif book that was absolutely not worth it's price in endeavours "currency". Do you know what I think about ZOS studio ? THEY ARE CRIMINALS and should be all jailed !!!!!!!
I love that the official statements by all these companies are that players like them, and that it’s not gambling, it’s a random or “surprise” mechanic. Imaging going to a grocery or clothing store and having to pay for a chance to get the item you want. “I just want some apples… *rolls wheel* dang it, bananas again. Well, I guess my next roll is more likely to get me some apples, I’ll go again.”
I remember a good while back they had that flashy meridian warhorse on endeavor store for.. 12k endeavs? something like that. I ended doing the math and came to the same conclusion; it would take a WHOLE FUCKING YEAR to get it, so I just gave up. If "not enough days to reallistically farm it" doesn't scream of "we want you to spend all your cash on lootboxes because the alternative literally isn't possible" I don't know what is.
Too bad they don't treat the Crown store like Guild Wars 2 treats the Gem store, which is IMO the most fair in game store I've come across. There, you can convert Gold to Gems to buy store items, and the conversion rate is low enough the average player can buy stuff. We should be able to convert Gold to Crowns in ESO too, and it shouldn't cost some shit like 800mil for an Apex either. I hope I don't need to say this, but no I don't think everything that works in one game will work in another. In the case of the Crown store and especially crates however, I think GW2's method would help a lot.
Love the video. Initially I was supportive of the endeavours as a way to just earn what I want to buy. That changed when I saw what WoW introduced as their version last patch with the trading market. That provides mounts, cosmetics, transmog and pets each month. You get 500 coins once a month for just logging in and looting a chest and then you can earn enough additional coins to then basically purchase everything available or that month if you want . The fact you can purchase one or many things every month is way better. Also there is no punishment for this not logging on each day. I generally farm mines in a week and if I don’t play the rest I don’t lose out. ESO version is way worse and adds to the complete lack of rewarding feeling already existing in the game.
I missed a few along the way, but I bought 2 mounts so far. Close to getting the third. It's weird but I'm always glad when the next set of crates don't have anything I want, so I can save up. But I agree with all points. The endeavor system needs a boost. Perhaps alternative ways to get seals, via achievements would be nice too. The same goes with housing. Alternative options to buy houses would be nice.
All games are predatory, they're in it to make money, their mini games, or systems are part of that. It's up to each person to decide if a game is worth their time and effort. If people are spending their money on items from a cash shop, they should know exactly what to expect or have a rough idea. During my tenure playing SWTOR over the years, I spent well over a thousand in their Cartel Market, in addition to the sub I was paying for the game. I knew exactly what I was getting myself into and don't regret it. I played the game so I didn't hesitate to support it. Most people have addictions to something, whether it's something as simple as food, caffeine, alcohol, drugs, and of course gambling. These gaming companies know most have addictions and certainly gambling addictions, so naturally they're going to dangle something in front of them to make money. Each individual needs to use discretion and exercise some common sense. As for the legalities of this practice, each person needs to look up the laws in their respective regions and make an astute analysis. Good video
What's even more funny is the Endevor system is part of the free to play game. Costs nothing but your time and willingness to play to get free stuff over time...that didn't exist back in beta or when a sub was required to just play. It's so simple.
They should somehow make it where you get endeavors from vet content/cyrodil/BG/imperial city end game. And increase amount to 25 per clear for pve and have a limit gained per day. This is my opinion.
I've turned a blind eye on ESO's predatory monetization for a long time due to fandom. But despite my deep love for the lore and the TES universe in general, I've finally come to a burnout point. I now only login sometimes for daily writs and stable upgrade (which by the way is also a very stupid system that forces you to slowly upgrade your mount). I have been playing FFXIV for a few weeks now and I'm still taking my time on the free trial. My 1st character is at level 30 and I already got 4 free pets for doing side quests. Yeah, those "go there, fetch this" side quests. You could never in ESO.
You're not prey, you're a grown ass human and it tells you what you are buying. Make a decision for yourself, it's not predatory at all, more stupid buzzwords from fake victims.
The amount of work for Endeavors has slowly gone up over time as well. It used to be place 5 Furnishings, then it was 7, now it's 10. And it was do kill x monsters with y skills. That went up, too.
The shade polymorph is actually illegal in my country according to legislation xdd in brazil, you can’t ever have an item that is *only* sold in a bundle, we call it a “compra casada” (married sale). If all the items in a bundle are acquirable individually it’s fine, so bundles themselves aren’t the issue - but having a unique extra on an already overpriced bundle that can only be gotten by bending over and getting the whole thing is a big no here. (Still happens but the legislation is there lol)
@@TracinyaLachance yea it would be nice, but even here that is not reinforced in many cases cause A) the consumer knows very little of their rights and B) games like ESO usually fly under the radar with these practices, with the few cases that conformed to that part of our legislation having either removed the content from the game entirely (if it had BR servers that is), or made it otherwise purchaseable separately on a certain timeframe, usually the former.
As I'm one a seriously tight budget, Endeavors are a good way for me to get items without having to gamble money I can't afford. My Sub crowns go toward houses, i couldn't otherwise get, along with costumes and occasionally furnishing or a cosmetic item. I've bought 3 mounts with Endeavors, The Wasseek horse-lizard, The Azure Blight Wild Hunt Steed and the Bloodroot Wild Hunt Senche. I have 1 Apex mount and Ember rides it atm with her Spring costume, that was gotten with crates I won in a housing contest. Now I'm just collecting Endeavors again, what do I want? A pure black wolf mount, no colorful tack or weird markings. Although i might still pick up furnishings. What I'm saying is that, Endeavors may not be worth the grind if you want multiple apex mounts. I would love to see it be less grindy.. but I'm happy the system is in place.
yeah you have a really good point. I have never been saving endeavors for a Radiant myself, and have spent a few of mine on smaller items, but from what I have seen from the majority of the community people want to use them on the mounts.

One of the things that irks me to no end, is going to the different stable masters seeing what's IN the stable and they aren't for sale. Make one of the 'not horse mounts' a you buy it reward on finishing the zone. Like a plain base model Guar for finishing Murkmire. It would be nice if players could buy with crowns at a reasonable price, the Apex mounts and perhaps a slightly different version for Endeavors.. with a more readonablle cost.
Not a fan of gambling crates. But i don't get the complaints about endeavors. I can't speak for anyone else but i personally played this game for years and didn't get anything, now i get endeavors that eventually let me get something for free that i otherwise would have never gotten. Maybe i'm just old and grew up in a time where you had to grind at life and save up for what you wanted instead of the instant gratification of putting whatever you want on a credit card and complain about payments later.
Bro it's not even just gambling. You know how annoying it is to do a piece of content in a game 50+ times waiting for a fucking algorithim to decide to drop the thing you need and stop wasting your time? RNG is to increase playtime, never for enjoyment.
After 2 years, I finally got my 16000 endeavors, I never outright tried to get the endeavors. I decided to get the Voidmother's Welwa mount. I saw other players with the mount and thought it looked good. When I first mounted, OMG the visual pollution. After 30 min of using the mount, I switched back to a mount I use all the time. I'm not going to waist my time or energy on the Apex mounts unless I happend to get them from crown crates from my free crown currency for being an ESO+ member. I got two soulburst mounts that way, which are my favorite.
I spend my endeavors on furniture, crowns too... I don't care what mount I use usually the ebony dwarven mount, I have my own addictions it's called furniture it's really bad 😅
I personally like the gameplay aspect of endeavours because it encourages me to rivist content/activities that I wouldn't normally revisit, BUT the rewards are kind of scuffed for sure. Fortunately I rarely like the apex mounts so I tend to be able to get more rewards.
I have no problem with RNG in a RPG. ESO is no longer a RPG. However to inject gambling into a video game is wholly wrong. Endeavors are just a legal butt blanket that ZOS is using to keep milking their customers. Crown Crates are clearly gambling ZOS knows it and has no problem with kids being exposed to it. This doesn't even account for the amount of rewards that were removed from the game and put in crown crates/store. I'm not a fan of government laying a heavy hand how a business operates, but this would be a clear and rightful exception.
How about be an adult and make decisions fort yourself? I"ve never felt forced or had any need to spend money on RNG boxes, and even if I did it tells you exactly what you are getting into. Victim complex seeping into gaming now, how about make an adult decision or just use common sense.

Paid-for loot crates suck, totally agree that they should just make the items available in a store and let you buy what you want… the endeavours system is ok, I guess… but you’re spot on with your points about questioning it’s viability when it takes so long to build up any kind of fund.
Or just put the items in game as rewards. The game is already unplayable without ESO+ and now the best rewards come from $$$crates. Love the game but it is expensive to enjoy.
I think this video brings up a interesting side topic while discussing endeavors: At what exact point could you consider pay to skip = pay to win? For instance, lets say for example psijic order takes 10 hours to max or you can buy it on the crown store maximized. At what exact point you could consider that pay to win instead of pay to skip? What if took 20 hours? 50? 500? 100000? It sounds silly but its a subject and thin line beetween convinience and basically impossibility and you can always add a variable to this small "moral dillema". What if it took 10 hours + a achievement that takes another 30? What about 40, 50, 200, etc. What is the exact crown value that would be fair? 1k? 3k? 10k? 300k? At what exact point can we consider that a "fair" monetization aspect or a pay to win type monetization.
I guess that would all be subjective and hard to quantify, as is the case with endeavors as well. Personally, I think it's slow af but someone else might think it's fine. Bringing up the skill line purchases is a great topic though. I guess they can get around calling it straight up "pay to win" because you need to have at least maxed it out on one character to unlock the purchases. On the other hand, I have never bought one of those skill upgrades because I see it as a waste of money. The amount of times I have considered buying that Psijic or Alliance War upgrade is more often than I would like to admit..... but I haven't fallen into temptation lol. Crown Crates come out every quarter or every three months on average. With that in mind it should take about 2 months at most to get 16,000 endeavor. They should keep the Endeavor system as it is but also give Seals of Endeavors for doing dailies and for doing the in-game achievements. Basically what they are worth is what you get. The came will calculate it and give you the Endeavor. Additionally they should add a new vendor that sales items from previous crates for endeavor. Though I should add that this should really be crates from 2017-2019, and they should be discounted compared to the new stuff. When they add the endless dungeon they could make it where it you get certain amount of endeavors depending on how many bosses you defeated during the run (like 1 endeavor = 1 boss). Perhaps a good way to make it where it has to be 8 weeks or whatever it is to make it where you can only get X amount of Endeavors per week so 2k endeavors per week is the cap, and you stop getting them after that until the next week. Then during week 8 you can get that juicy apex mount if you really want. Or they can forgo all of that and just make it where you get crown gems and endeavor for duplicates but not for selling the item through the crate system for that you only get gems. They could cut down the time to get it pretty good, while still forcing people to pay money to do so... since that's what they really care about.
those are some really awesome ideas! ZOS definitely has a lot of options if they want to go about changing it... but they would need to be wanting to change it in the first place!
The only real BS thing about endeavors is the pricing of the rewards. It’s 16k endeavors for all radiant apex mounts even if some are cheaper in the store. Example both 1200 and 2500 crate crown mounts are both 16k endeavors
The endeavor are so slow on getting 15 to 20 endeavors it should be like 100 to 200 endeavor points, it's so hard to earn them 100,000 endeavor points takes 2-3 years I could earn 100k AP in an hour.

Is dumb they limit to 3/5 endanvours per day and 1/3 per week. Why not let players play the way they wanted and do all 5 per day and 3 big ones per week? The game is suppose to reward you for playing correct? The more you play the more reward?

Endeavours are good, but they take far too long to get enough for anything worth it. Slow grinds are fine, but locking a grind behind time gates is the real issue. You should also take a look at the crown only houses that cost hundreds. The house prices on limited houses are ridiculous. One of the other issues in game is the kick feature in dungeons. I've entered several vet dungeons and while doing 40% of the overall dps, still been kicked.
i find that ppl who kick r often egotistical elitists who like to play blame game on u n kick u, rather than admit responsibility for their own mistakes n improve. U must have encountered that in ur vet dungeon. They sometimes form their little circle jerk cliques too.
I finally got my Vet Vateshran skin in the week the crown crate version dropped, and I have to say the one I earned ingame I am way more proud of than I ever could be if I were to just buy the damn thing. That being said I like doing endavours. I have been saving points for over a year and I have around 16k right now all saved up for when the Baandaari Pedlar crates one day return. What helped for me to not be lured to spend too much on this game is just make unattractive possible characters that I still like but would silly in most crown crate items. Also just try to avoid looking at the store most days. with all that being said I feel they should introduce the oldest crates slowly as ingame earnable rewards. The oldest rewards are usually not even HD quality and their age really started to show. Since they're still making new crates every year I don't think this would be too unreasonable.
that's a really good point! a lot of the old crate items look crusty as hell. they hardly are ever available anymore so it could be an idea to introduce them back into the game by other means

Personally I think the Endeavor system is garbage. the fact you can only get about 10 a day on average and 250 on a week is terrible. They really need to tone down the price of the the crown crates and they need to increase the percentage or they just need to get rid of them and add the items to the store I've been playing ESO on Playstation since 2017 and I only got 1,970 endeavors
11:03 the term "RNG" is very vague. Technically it is RNG for what loot drops from bosses, that is a random chance... Also with crits on spells/heals. That is also a "random chance" that is modified by stats like critical strike chance. Not to defend Microsoft, the way they put it was that players like the highs of getting items they want, well the chance to get the items they want through RNG. I am the first one to say I am 100% against paid loot boxes (if they are ONLY in-game currency or are given randomly for tasks INSIDE the game, they are fine). I am not defending loot boxes at all. Agree with pretty much all points. I've not missed a lot of endeavors since they were introduced. Since the beginning I always intended to just buy a cool-looking radiant apex mount with them because there's no way I am going to spend hundreds of euros or all of my in-game gold on a non-guaranteed drop. Since then I've bought 2 radiant apex mounts with my Endeavors, and I just now earned enough to buy a third one. So yeah, it's extremely slow. A friend of mine also pointed out something else that was interesting about the endeavor system, which is that it fits a larger pattern of Zenimax trying really hard to get people to log in every day. There's of course the daily login rewards that were introduced in late 2018, and a year later they added cooldown timers to daily reward boxes, to limit the amount of motifs you could drop. Event tickets were also added in 2018 iirc. Add to that older systems like daily writs, daily mount training and Cyrodiil conquest missions, and you have a game that is basically designed around FOMO. Is it any wonder ESO players react much more strongly than other MMO communities when the server is down for a few hours? Oh btw, I live in the Netherlands and you can still buy crown crates and other loot crates here. They've been talking about legislation for ages but so far I think it's only Belgium that has outright banned them.
That's such a great point about all the daily stuff! I never thought about that honestly, they really do be creating a cycle. It's like a drip feed to players almost, and when the servers go down people go rabid lol. Tbf, from what I had also heard, ESO has way more server issues than a lot of other MMOs though so that could also be a contributor to why people get so annoyed. Also damn.... a couple comments have said that the Netherlands have not banned crates so I wonder why places saying they have. Don't trust anything you read on the internet kids 🤓

Lots of different cultures and stuff, which is why I love going there. On topic, I grinded hard on gold so I could buy crates. Never liked spending cash in games and I feel bad when one of my friends drops $200NZD on the 20k crown pack.

To me it's just free stuff for playing the game. We used to play the game without endeavors before and got nothing, so we were forced into the crown store for fancy mounts etc..
The game feels like a job when you take into account daily writs, popping random normals bonus on all your characters, daily and even weekly endeavors. The grind alone to get the transmutes to get all the sets needed for optimized trial runs is absolutely mental, if anything it's the bulk of the game for me to grind out transmutes in any way I can and it's starting to wear down on me considerably. I'm toning it down and since this is all in my control, I'll be doing only weekly endeavors and working on at least 3 random normals a day, but still.... the overall feeling of a job in an MMO shouldn't exist. It should be fun. Perhaps it's within our control to know what we constitute as fun and that is where the solution lies. I feel on the endeavor front and lootboxes, that element of chance/RNG can kiss my entire *** lol. I scan through whats in the crates through the endeavor/crown gems section and figure I want maybe 1 or 2 things. Rarely want anything legendary/apex quality nowadays, would love to reduce the random drops I get from crates in place of selecting what I'd like to get from them. I see it like people paying for cable TV. We all as a society concluded streaming is what we like to do over blindly watching TV channels that 'might' be entertaining over something we manually selected that 'is' entertaining to us. I don't think anyone wants those crown pots, food, etc.. do we really need that trash? lol.
I got a Legion Zero Charger mount for about 12K seals of endeavor then immediately decided that I hated it 😂 Not sure how long it took to save up but I do every endevour and it didn't seem that long. The problem that annoys me is when you preview the mount you only see it being spawned and your character sitting on it. You still have no idea what it looks like when you're riding around on it (seeing it from behind) or what the movement is like - will it be super jerky like the quasigriff mount? Not long after I got the Auroran penumbra mount which I think was about 10K seals and I'm very happy with that and it didn't seem to take too long to save up for it. Plus I have a couple of other nice mounts bought with 3.6K seals (camel & nix-ox). So I like the seals and with the mounts from events (2 quasigriffs and 3 indriiks) I have loads of awesome mounts, none of which cost any real money or came from crown crates.
I actuallz like the idea of the Endeavour system, but I agree that the rewards are way too low. They should give 50 points for each daily quest and 500 for the weekly. That way you have an actual alternative. Right now I am doing the endeavours as often as I can and turn them in for rewards of 1000 - 2000 points each month.
I know it takes research to help communities, try researching the business aspect of ZOS. You'll figure out a lot more on why they do what they do. But not in a good way... that's if you have the time and are bored. Great informative upload 👍
ESO getting players to actively farm the slow grind of collecting seals of endeavours for temporarily available crown store items…goes to show they do not respect the player’s time at all. Seals of Endeavours r an insult to players’ time.
I agree, 10 endeavours is just not enough of a reward. If they made each daily one 25 each, I would pay more attention but that's as low as I'll go. It would be nice if we got them more as monthly login rewards
Let me lay it out this way for you, I'm a newer player, there's something I want that's 2k seals. I've been grinding them consistently since I started as a new player and haven't spent them at all. If tomorrow they don't do 15 or more seals per reward, for example if they only give 10, I will be 5 seals short for the item i want. I already did my weekly so I can't use that to earn more, and the item has until the end of the cycle tomorrow to buy. Then it will be gone until I have no idea when. Obviously pushing FOMO. Seals rewards should be a bit higher or costs should be a bit lower.
As no one needs radiant apex mounts, the whole point is moot. You can play events for tickets, if you don't like horses for the Indik and Gryphon mounts, or ride the horses, or if you are subscribed you get some boxes now and then in the login rewards. The Endeavour system is fun, and I usually use it for stuff like riding lessons and other nonsense, because nothing beats my midnight steed at the end of the day. There is NOTHING in the boxes that gives you an advantage, and hence I don't mind Zenimax stuffing them full of nonsense for the vanity people.
I gave up on the endeavor grind. It got to be to much for so little. Let's not even talk about the special crowns that can only be gotten from turning trash into them. Being a crafter, there are only some motifs that can be bought through the crown store. 5000 crowns is a bit much for these in my opinion. I spend my gold on those when I can find them. As far as the endeavor system goes, I think they should increase how much we earn per daily and weekly ones.
I loved the ideas of endeavors but they only frustrate me now. They only way you can get a mount you want is by dropping mad cash on loot crates, not by playing the game.
most endeavors are easy to do but it's a long game not something you can grind for during a crate cycle so it's about saving for the future....do endeavors and forget about it then 1 day you'll have enough to buy anything you want from crates for free
crown cate rewards are beter looking than endgame rewards. i can get a lightning flame mount with special effects or a morph that makes me look like an all powerful god from crown crates but doing vet hm trials gets you a goat and some tribal tatoos. fucking insanity
The things that ESO does to monetize their MMO are about as harmless as you are going to find in any FTP game. Try comparing it to something like Lost Ark.
I mean ya it takes like a year or two of grinding seals of endeavors to amass enough seals to afford a radiant apex mount but ya totally viable in game reward to buy crown items 😂
Wasn’t Fortnite sued for the loot crate system? In their SaveTheWorld mode, it now shows what’s in the reward before buying them. It was considered gambling, which is illegal for kids..What makes this any different?
@@Azuraaaaaaaaa Everything that was offered in the Loot Crate system (Llamas in Fortnite STW) was earnable through the gameplay, it was more of a pay to win boost, maybe that was the difference. I have 4 radiant apex mounts - 3 earned with Seals of Endeavours and one which dropped from a crate. It is actually my favourite mount. I hung on to my last lot of seals for ages because I knew the minute I spent them, a mount I preferred would be released the next round. I was right. I bought my last mount and then they released one I would have liked better. SO annoying that it takes SO long to earn seals. I’m pretty good at saving them, but the grind still annoys me.
the undaunted chests are already hateful enough with their randomly generated reward... I would rather have to spend more keys to get the ecact shoulder piece I want than randomly getting one of 6

My only experience with crates is after the first 5 or 6 i will only ever get cosmetics that are a duplicate untill i get enough gems for what im after which is insane with most of the items being blue. My only gold drops ever are exp scrolls. Hate rng stuff bc im generally very unlucky with these systems

I've honestly stopped caring about the endeavors so much because of all the things you talk about here. It's such a slow grind it just makes you not care. If you're a person with limited time to play, trying to get them all done ends up with you spending much of your time just doing that monotonous crap.
I don’t hate the seals system, it’s a slow but pretty passive way to earn paid content. I compare it to heirlooms (highest rarity item in game) from apex legends, if you reach max level, you’re guaranteed an heirloom. By playing the game you receive a reward but it is a grind and a half. At the end of the day radiant apex rewards are a cosmetic item and you can still do everything in the game without it. I’d hate for them to remove crates and increase the price of other things to compensate the revenue loss

I’ve been collecting endeavours since they began, have used them to get two radiant apex mounts and a harrowstorm bear, and am well on my way to a third radiant apex mount. Whilst it is a slow process, it allows players to earn radiant mounts over a period of time by just playing the game. I can’t say there is much wrong with that honestly.
I'm against lootboxes. I don't participate in crown crates. I only purchase what's purchasable without gambling. I don't like that radiant apex mounts cost thousands of dollars even though the most expensive non crown gem mounts are merely 50 dollars
I actually like the endevours....Buuuuut... why limit it to 3 a day? Great ingame incentive to log on and play. Maybe even sub once again?? But this bullshit is a tease and a legal loophole when it could be something to pull people in! Instead of: "wow i can work on playing the game and earn crown items". That polymorph is probably exempt from that one rule due to it technically not being a part of the crates itself, and is considered a separate item. I think that endeavours should be balanced in such a way that its possible to get 16,000 at most every 90 days to ensure that a player can get one radiant mount or several other smaller things. They endeavoured, they earned it.
As for crates I think my biggest issue with them is duplicates, which are extremely obnoxious especially as they don't even give half of the gem value back. It should be half as bare minimum or equal, maybe raising a little with rarity. Better yet, no dupes at all, this way there is still a gamble to be able to get what you want with the crates purchased, but if you do choose to keep buying them you will eventually get nothing but consumables. This would be great for collectors and if anything would probably cause more purchases to be made in the long run, because the crates would be less predatory and intimidating.
Literally this would fix most of the issues. No Duplicates.

Here are a few comments I have to add. Daily endeavors have been consistently 10 or15 seals since Feb 2022. ZOS has done a pretty good job limiting endeavours that would be behind paywalls (eg. DLC specific content) but overall the endeavor tasks are skewed in favor of the PvE playstyle.
One aspect of the endeavors not mentioned in the video that affects obtaining seals is an examination of the tasks themselves. There have been some subtle tweaking of tasks to increase quantities required. For example, "place 7 furnishings" slowly becomes with 'place 10 furnishings' or "use ultimates 3 times' to 'use ultimates 5 times'. I don't have the detailed data since the end of year one to easily analyze trend to determine how significant the changes are.

All my current mounts were bought with endeavours. People have an obsession with radiant Apex, but the ones I like cost 3600 seals, some of the fancy ones 8k, so I enjoy what they have done. But I also agree that would be wonderful if we could buy any mount we wanted with crowns.

Crownstore is predatory monetization, promoting gambling and crown crates should be banned worldwide. The problem is that when some people want to pay hundreds and thousands of USD for virtual items, ZOS will not stop (miss)using it. As for as endeavours, I just recently spend 3600 for motif book, which I later found can be bought as separate pages for around 200k golds because it was NOT crownstore exclusive.
In other words. 200k golds equals couple of hours of farming. 3600 seals represents 2 months effort and dozen of in game hours. SO it is not only predatory and problematic from ethic point of view, but they even SCAMMED me and givemy for my hard earned endeavours a crappy motif book that was absolutely not worth it's price in endeavours "currency". Do you know what I think about ZOS studio ? THEY ARE CRIMINALS and should be all jailed !!!!!!!
I love that the official statements by all these companies are that players like them, and that it’s not gambling, it’s a random or “surprise” mechanic.

I remember a good while back they had that flashy meridian warhorse on endeavor store for.. 12k endeavs? something like that. I ended doing the math and came to the same conclusion; it would take a WHOLE FUCKING YEAR to get it, so I just gave up.
If "not enough days to reallistically farm it" doesn't scream of "we want you to spend all your cash on lootboxes because the alternative literally isn't possible" I don't know what is.
Too bad they don't treat the Crown store like Guild Wars 2 treats the Gem store, which is IMO the most fair in game store I've come across. There, you can convert Gold to Gems to buy store items, and the conversion rate is low enough the average player can buy stuff.
We should be able to convert Gold to Crowns in ESO too, and it shouldn't cost some shit like 800mil for an Apex either.
I hope I don't need to say this, but no I don't think everything that works in one game will work in another. In the case of the Crown store and especially crates however, I think GW2's method would help a lot.
Love the video. Initially I was supportive of the endeavours as a way to just earn what I want to buy.
That changed when I saw what WoW introduced as their version last patch with the trading market. That provides mounts, cosmetics, transmog and pets each month. You get 500 coins once a month for just logging in and looting a chest and then you can earn enough additional coins to then basically purchase everything available or that month if you want .
The fact you can purchase one or many things every month is way better. Also there is no punishment for this not logging on each day. I generally farm mines in a week and if I don’t play the rest I don’t lose out.
ESO version is way worse and adds to the complete lack of rewarding feeling already existing in the game.
I missed a few along the way, but I bought 2 mounts so far. Close to getting the third.
It's weird but I'm always glad when the next set of crates don't have anything I want, so I can save up. But I agree with all points. The endeavor system needs a boost. Perhaps alternative ways to get seals, via achievements would be nice too.
The same goes with housing. Alternative options to buy houses would be nice.
All games are predatory, they're in it to make money, their mini games, or systems are part of that. It's up to each person to decide if a game is worth their time and effort. If people are spending their money on items from a cash shop, they should know exactly what to expect or have a rough idea. During my tenure playing SWTOR over the years, I spent well over a thousand in their Cartel Market, in addition to the sub I was paying for the game. I knew exactly what I was getting myself into and don't regret it. I played the game so I didn't hesitate to support it.
Most people have addictions to something, whether it's something as simple as food, caffeine, alcohol, drugs, and of course gambling. These gaming companies know most have addictions and certainly gambling addictions, so naturally they're going to dangle something in front of them to make money. Each individual needs to use discretion and exercise some common sense.
As for the legalities of this practice, each person needs to look up the laws in their respective regions and make an astute analysis.

What's even more funny is the Endevor system is part of the free to play game. Costs nothing but your time and willingness to play to get free stuff over time...that didn't exist back in beta or when a sub was required to just play. It's so simple.
They should somehow make it where you get endeavors from vet content/cyrodil/BG/imperial city end game. And increase amount to 25 per clear for pve and have a limit gained per day. This is my opinion.

I've turned a blind eye on ESO's predatory monetization for a long time due to fandom. But despite my deep love for the lore and the TES universe in general, I've finally come to a burnout point. I now only login sometimes for daily writs and stable upgrade (which by the way is also a very stupid system that forces you to slowly upgrade your mount).
I have been playing FFXIV for a few weeks now and I'm still taking my time on the free trial. My 1st character is at level 30 and I already got 4 free pets for doing side quests. Yeah, those "go there, fetch this" side quests. You could never in ESO.
You're not prey, you're a grown ass human and it tells you what you are buying. Make a decision for yourself, it's not predatory at all, more stupid buzzwords from fake victims.
The amount of work for Endeavors has slowly gone up over time as well. It used to be place 5 Furnishings, then it was 7, now it's 10.
And it was do kill x monsters with y skills. That went up, too.
Current ones to finish arenas or battlegrounds are quite off putting as well.
When endover first came out the daily rewards was 250 each over the years they nerfed then to nothing
The shade polymorph is actually illegal in my country according to legislation xdd in brazil, you can’t ever have an item that is *only* sold in a bundle, we call it a “compra casada” (married sale). If all the items in a bundle are acquirable individually it’s fine, so bundles themselves aren’t the issue - but having a unique extra on an already overpriced bundle that can only be gotten by bending over and getting the whole thing is a big no here. (Still happens but the legislation is there lol)

@@TracinyaLachance yea it would be nice, but even here that is not reinforced in many cases cause A) the consumer knows very little of their rights and B) games like ESO usually fly under the radar with these practices, with the few cases that conformed to that part of our legislation having either removed the content from the game entirely (if it had BR servers that is), or made it otherwise purchaseable separately on a certain timeframe, usually the former.
As I'm one a seriously tight budget, Endeavors are a good way for me to get items without having to gamble money I can't afford. My Sub crowns go toward houses, i couldn't otherwise get, along with costumes and occasionally furnishing or a cosmetic item.
I've bought 3 mounts with Endeavors, The Wasseek horse-lizard, The Azure Blight Wild Hunt Steed and the Bloodroot Wild Hunt Senche. I have 1 Apex mount and Ember rides it atm with her Spring costume, that was gotten with crates I won in a housing contest.
Now I'm just collecting Endeavors again, what do I want? A pure black wolf mount, no colorful tack or weird markings. Although i might still pick up furnishings.
What I'm saying is that, Endeavors may not be worth the grind if you want multiple apex mounts. I would love to see it be less grindy.. but I'm happy the system is in place.
yeah you have a really good point. I have never been saving endeavors for a Radiant myself, and have spent a few of mine on smaller items, but from what I have seen from the majority of the community people want to use them on the mounts.

I'd love to see better ingame rewards. One of the things that irks me to no end, is going to the different stable masters seeing what's IN the stable and they aren't for sale. Make one of the 'not horse mounts' a you buy it reward on finishing the zone. Like a plain base model Guar for finishing Murkmire.
It would be nice if players could buy with crowns at a reasonable price, the Apex mounts and perhaps a slightly different version for Endeavors.. with a more readonablle cost.

Not a fan of gambling crates. But i don't get the complaints about endeavors. I can't speak for anyone else but i personally played this game for years and didn't get anything, now i get endeavors that eventually let me get something for free that i otherwise would have never gotten.
Maybe i'm just old and grew up in a time where you had to grind at life and save up for what you wanted instead of the instant gratification of putting whatever you want on a credit card and complain about payments later.

Bro it's not even just gambling. You know how annoying it is to do a piece of content in a game 50+ times waiting for a fucking algorithim to decide to drop the thing you need and stop wasting your time? RNG is to increase playtime, never for enjoyment.
After 2 years, I finally got my 16000 endeavors, I never outright tried to get the endeavors. I decided to get the Voidmother's Welwa mount. I saw other players with the mount and thought it looked good. When I first mounted, OMG the visual pollution. After 30 min of using the mount, I switched back to a mount I use all the time. I'm not going to waist my time or energy on the Apex mounts unless I happend to get them from crown crates from my free crown currency for being an ESO+ member. I got two soulburst mounts that way, which are my favorite.
I spend my endeavors on furniture, crowns too... I don't care what mount I use usually the ebony dwarven mount, I have my own addictions it's called furniture it's really bad 😅
Housing is the true endgame
I personally like the gameplay aspect of endeavours because it encourages me to rivist content/activities that I wouldn't normally revisit, BUT the rewards are kind of scuffed for sure. Fortunately I rarely like the apex mounts so I tend to be able to get more rewards.
I have no problem with RNG in a RPG. ESO is no longer a RPG. However to inject gambling into a video game is wholly wrong. Endeavors are just a legal butt blanket that ZOS is using to keep milking their customers. Crown Crates are clearly gambling ZOS knows it and has no problem with kids being exposed to it. This doesn't even account for the amount of rewards that were removed from the game and put in crown crates/store. I'm not a fan of government laying a heavy hand how a business operates, but this would be a clear and rightful exception.
How about be an adult and make decisions fort yourself? I"ve never felt forced or had any need to spend money on RNG boxes, and even if I did it tells you exactly what you are getting into. Victim complex seeping into gaming now, how about make an adult decision or just use common sense.

Paid-for loot crates suck, totally agree that they should just make the items available in a store and let you buy what you want… the endeavours system is ok, I guess… but you’re spot on with your points about questioning it’s viability when it takes so long to build up any kind of fund.
Or just put the items in game as rewards. The game is already unplayable without ESO+ and now the best rewards come from $$$crates. Love the game but it is expensive to enjoy.

For instance, lets say for example psijic order takes 10 hours to max or you can buy it on the crown store maximized.
At what exact point you could consider that pay to win instead of pay to skip? What if took 20 hours? 50? 500? 100000? It sounds silly but its a subject and thin line beetween convinience and basically impossibility and you can always add a variable to this small "moral dillema".
What if it took 10 hours + a achievement that takes another 30? What about 40, 50, 200, etc.
What is the exact crown value that would be fair? 1k? 3k? 10k? 300k?
At what exact point can we consider that a "fair" monetization aspect or a pay to win type monetization.
I guess that would all be subjective and hard to quantify, as is the case with endeavors as well. Personally, I think it's slow af but someone else might think it's fine. Bringing up the skill line purchases is a great topic though. I guess they can get around calling it straight up "pay to win" because you need to have at least maxed it out on one character to unlock the purchases. On the other hand, I have never bought one of those skill upgrades because I see it as a waste of money. The amount of times I have considered buying that Psijic or Alliance War upgrade is more often than I would like to admit..... but I haven't fallen into temptation lol. Crown Crates come out every quarter or every three months on average.
With that in mind it should take about 2 months at most to get 16,000 endeavor.
They should keep the Endeavor system as it is but also give Seals of Endeavors for doing dailies and for doing the in-game achievements. Basically what they are worth is what you get. The came will calculate it and give you the Endeavor.
Additionally they should add a new vendor that sales items from previous crates for endeavor. Though I should add that this should really be crates from 2017-2019, and they should be discounted compared to the new stuff.
When they add the endless dungeon they could make it where it you get certain amount of endeavors depending on how many bosses you defeated during the run (like 1 endeavor = 1 boss).
Perhaps a good way to make it where it has to be 8 weeks or whatever it is to make it where you can only get X amount of Endeavors per week so 2k endeavors per week is the cap, and you stop getting them after that until the next week.
Then during week 8 you can get that juicy apex mount if you really want.
Or they can forgo all of that and just make it where you get crown gems and endeavor for duplicates but not for selling the item through the crate system for that you only get gems. They could cut down the time to get it pretty good, while still forcing people to pay money to do so... since that's what they really care about.
those are some really awesome ideas! ZOS definitely has a lot of options if they want to go about changing it... but they would need to be wanting to change it in the first place!
The only real BS thing about endeavors is the pricing of the rewards. It’s 16k endeavors for all radiant apex mounts even if some are cheaper in the store. Example both 1200 and 2500 crate crown mounts are both 16k endeavors
The endeavor are so slow on getting 15 to 20 endeavors it should be like 100 to 200 endeavor points, it's so hard to earn them 100,000 endeavor points takes 2-3 years I could earn 100k AP in an hour.

Endeavours are good, but they take far too long to get enough for anything worth it. Slow grinds are fine, but locking a grind behind time gates is the real issue. You should also take a look at the crown only houses that cost hundreds. The house prices on limited houses are ridiculous. One of the other issues in game is the kick feature in dungeons. I've entered several vet dungeons and while doing 40% of the overall dps, still been kicked.
i find that ppl who kick r often egotistical elitists who like to play blame game on u n kick u, rather than admit responsibility for their own mistakes n improve. U must have encountered that in ur vet dungeon. They sometimes form their little circle jerk cliques too.
I finally got my Vet Vateshran skin in the week the crown crate version dropped, and I have to say the one I earned ingame I am way more proud of than I ever could be if I were to just buy the damn thing. That being said I like doing endavours. I have been saving points for over a year and I have around 16k right now all saved up for when the Baandaari Pedlar crates one day return. What helped for me to not be lured to spend too much on this game is just make unattractive possible characters that I still like but would silly in most crown crate items. Also just try to avoid looking at the store most days.
with all that being said I feel they should introduce the oldest crates slowly as ingame earnable rewards. The oldest rewards are usually not even HD quality and their age really started to show. Since they're still making new crates every year I don't think this would be too unreasonable.
that's a really good point! a lot of the old crate items look crusty as hell. they hardly are ever available anymore so it could be an idea to introduce them back into the game by other means

Personally I think the Endeavor system is garbage. the fact you can only get about 10 a day on average and 250 on a week is terrible. They really need to tone down the price of the the crown crates and they need to increase the percentage or they just need to get rid of them and add the items to the store I've been playing ESO on Playstation since 2017 and I only got 1,970 endeavors

11:03 the term "RNG" is very vague. Technically it is RNG for what loot drops from bosses, that is a random chance... Also with crits on spells/heals. That is also a "random chance" that is modified by stats like critical strike chance.
Not to defend Microsoft, the way they put it was that players like the highs of getting items they want, well the chance to get the items they want through RNG.
I am the first one to say I am 100% against paid loot boxes (if they are ONLY in-game currency or are given randomly for tasks INSIDE the game, they are fine). I am not defending loot boxes at all.

Agree with pretty much all points. I've not missed a lot of endeavors since they were introduced. Since the beginning I always intended to just buy a cool-looking radiant apex mount with them because there's no way I am going to spend hundreds of euros or all of my in-game gold on a non-guaranteed drop. Since then I've bought 2 radiant apex mounts with my Endeavors, and I just now earned enough to buy a third one. So yeah, it's extremely slow.
A friend of mine also pointed out something else that was interesting about the endeavor system, which is that it fits a larger pattern of Zenimax trying really hard to get people to log in every day. There's of course the daily login rewards that were introduced in late 2018, and a year later they added cooldown timers to daily reward boxes, to limit the amount of motifs you could drop. Event tickets were also added in 2018 iirc. Add to that older systems like daily writs, daily mount training and Cyrodiil conquest missions, and you have a game that is basically designed around FOMO. Is it any wonder ESO players react much more strongly than other MMO communities when the server is down for a few hours?
Oh btw, I live in the Netherlands and you can still buy crown crates and other loot crates here. They've been talking about legislation for ages but so far I think it's only Belgium that has outright banned them.
That's such a great point about all the daily stuff! I never thought about that honestly, they really do be creating a cycle. It's like a drip feed to players almost, and when the servers go down people go rabid lol. Tbf, from what I had also heard, ESO has way more server issues than a lot of other MMOs though so that could also be a contributor to why people get so annoyed.

On topic, I grinded hard on gold so I could buy crates. Never liked spending cash in games and I feel bad when one of my friends drops $200NZD on the 20k crown pack.

To me it's just free stuff for playing the game. We used to play the game without endeavors before and got nothing, so we were forced into the crown store for fancy mounts etc..

The game feels like a job when you take into account daily writs, popping random normals bonus on all your characters, daily and even weekly endeavors. The grind alone to get the transmutes to get all the sets needed for optimized trial runs is absolutely mental, if anything it's the bulk of the game for me to grind out transmutes in any way I can and it's starting to wear down on me considerably. I'm toning it down and since this is all in my control, I'll be doing only weekly endeavors and working on at least 3 random normals a day, but still.... the overall feeling of a job in an MMO shouldn't exist. It should be fun. Perhaps it's within our control to know what we constitute as fun and that is where the solution lies. I feel on the endeavor front and lootboxes, that element of chance/RNG can kiss my entire *** lol. I scan through whats in the crates through the endeavor/crown gems section and figure I want maybe 1 or 2 things. Rarely want anything legendary/apex quality nowadays, would love to reduce the random drops I get from crates in place of selecting what I'd like to get from them. I see it like people paying for cable TV. We all as a society concluded streaming is what we like to do over blindly watching TV channels that 'might' be entertaining over something we manually selected that 'is' entertaining to us. I don't think anyone wants those crown pots, food, etc.. do we really need that trash? lol.

I got a Legion Zero Charger mount for about 12K seals of endeavor then immediately decided that I hated it 😂 Not sure how long it took to save up but I do every endevour and it didn't seem that long. The problem that annoys me is when you preview the mount you only see it being spawned and your character sitting on it. You still have no idea what it looks like when you're riding around on it (seeing it from behind) or what the movement is like - will it be super jerky like the quasigriff mount? Not long after I got the Auroran penumbra mount which I think was about 10K seals and I'm very happy with that and it didn't seem to take too long to save up for it. Plus I have a couple of other nice mounts bought with 3.6K seals (camel & nix-ox). So I like the seals and with the mounts from events (2 quasigriffs and 3 indriiks) I have loads of awesome mounts, none of which cost any real money or came from crown crates.
I actuallz like the idea of the Endeavour system, but I agree that the rewards are way too low. They should give 50 points for each daily quest and 500 for the weekly. That way you have an actual alternative. Right now I am doing the endeavours as often as I can and turn them in for rewards of 1000 - 2000 points each month.
I know it takes research to help communities, try researching the business aspect of ZOS. You'll figure out a lot more on why they do what they do.
But not in a good way... that's if you have the time and are bored. Great informative upload 👍

ESO getting players to actively farm the slow grind of collecting seals of endeavours for temporarily available crown store items…goes to show they do not respect the player’s time at all. Seals of Endeavours r an insult to players’ time.

I agree, 10 endeavours is just not enough of a reward. If they made each daily one 25 each, I would pay more attention but that's as low as I'll go. It would be nice if we got them more as monthly login rewards

Let me lay it out this way for you, I'm a newer player, there's something I want that's 2k seals. I've been grinding them consistently since I started as a new player and haven't spent them at all.
If tomorrow they don't do 15 or more seals per reward, for example if they only give 10, I will be 5 seals short for the item i want. I already did my weekly so I can't use that to earn more, and the item has until the end of the cycle tomorrow to buy. Then it will be gone until I have no idea when.
Obviously pushing FOMO. Seals rewards should be a bit higher or costs should be a bit lower.
As no one needs radiant apex mounts, the whole point is moot. You can play events for tickets, if you don't like horses for the Indik and Gryphon mounts, or ride the horses, or if you are subscribed you get some boxes now and then in the login rewards. The Endeavour system is fun, and I usually use it for stuff like riding lessons and other nonsense, because nothing beats my midnight steed at the end of the day. There is NOTHING in the boxes that gives you an advantage, and hence I don't mind Zenimax stuffing them full of nonsense for the vanity people.
I gave up on the endeavor grind. It got to be to much for so little. Let's not even talk about the special crowns that can only be gotten from turning trash into them. Being a crafter, there are only some motifs that can be bought through the crown store. 5000 crowns is a bit much for these in my opinion. I spend my gold on those when I can find them. As far as the endeavor system goes, I think they should increase how much we earn per daily and weekly ones.

I loved the ideas of endeavors but they only frustrate me now. They only way you can get a mount you want is by dropping mad cash on loot crates, not by playing the game.
most endeavors are easy to do but it's a long game not something you can grind for during a crate cycle so it's about saving for the future....do endeavors and forget about it then 1 day you'll have enough to buy anything you want from crates for free
crown cate rewards are beter looking than endgame rewards. i can get a lightning flame mount with special effects or a morph that makes me look like an all powerful god from crown crates but doing vet hm trials gets you a goat and some tribal tatoos. fucking insanity
instead of just awarding us with the 3 dailies let us earn all of the dailies listed on that day it should speed it up a little
The things that ESO does to monetize their MMO are about as harmless as you are going to find in any FTP game. Try comparing it to something like Lost Ark.

Wasn’t Fortnite sued for the loot crate system? In their SaveTheWorld mode, it now shows what’s in the reward before buying them. It was considered gambling, which is illegal for kids..What makes this any different?
I think fortnite was sued because you couldn't earn the stuff in game (?) and they were shilling gambling to a mostly child audience
@@Azuraaaaaaaaa Everything that was offered in the Loot Crate system (Llamas in Fortnite STW) was earnable through the gameplay, it was more of a pay to win boost, maybe that was the difference. You weren’t guaranteed anything specific, but you could get the chance at paying to get stuff vs. spending hours upon hours grinding it. I’m sure there are differences between the games on the matter, I’m just curious to know the difference:)

I have 4 radiant apex mounts - 3 earned with Seals of Endeavours and one which dropped from a crate. It is actually my favourite mount. I hung on to my last lot of seals for ages because I knew the minute I spent them, a mount I preferred would be released the next round. I was right. I bought my last mount and then they released one I would have liked better. SO annoying that it takes SO long to earn seals. I’m pretty good at saving them, but the grind still annoys me.
Lootboxes are not exactly banned in the Netherlands tho. I can buy crown crates in the Netherlands.

Increased probability of new items ? That's bs. My only experience with crates is after the first 5 or 6 i will only ever get cosmetics that are a duplicate untill i get enough gems for what im after which is insane with most of the items being blue. My only gold drops ever are exp scrolls. Hate rng stuff bc im generally very unlucky with these systems

I've honestly stopped caring about the endeavors so much because of all the things you talk about here. It's such a slow grind it just makes you not care. If you're a person with limited time to play, trying to get them all done ends up with you spending much of your time just doing that monotonous crap.
Usually takes just a few minutes a day. I do them daily and am typically done each day in 5 mins
I don’t hate the seals system, it’s a slow but pretty passive way to earn paid content. I compare it to heirlooms (highest rarity item in game) from apex legends, if you reach max level, you’re guaranteed an heirloom. By playing the game you receive a reward but it is a grind and a half. At the end of the day radiant apex rewards are a cosmetic item and you can still do everything in the game without it. I’d hate for them to remove crates and increase the price of other things to compensate the revenue loss

I’ve been collecting endeavours since they began, have used them to get two radiant apex mounts and a harrowstorm bear, and am well on my way to a third radiant apex mount. Whilst it is a slow process, it allows players to earn radiant mounts over a period of time by just playing the game. I can’t say there is much wrong with that honestly.
True it's slow much with patience I realised the endeavours system was pretty 👍 good system. Could be a bit more generous though.
