I still think the black macbook was the nicest looking carbonate based notebooks ever made. It took years before the industry, namely Dell with their latitude series came close.
It's quite impressive to see the Mac run a WinXP VM (x86) reasonably well on a PowerPC processor. I wonder what emulation optimisations were used to pull that off.
Back in that days i used virtual PC to emulate Windows on my ibook G4. XP was a pain, win2000 ran better. Last week i found my win 2000 virtual hard Disk file on an old backup HDD. So it was time to revive the only PowerMac i own today, an iMac G5 someone donated me for free about six years ago. I erased Lubuntu 16 and created a Dualboot system macos10.4/Debian ppc 12.0. It took me hours and the only thing i had to find by now is my original package of virtual pc.
@@KernelGhost heh, it never worked as well as parallels, which makes total sense, given the architecture. And it ate up a LOT of system resources. But it did work, and for certain people it was a dealbreaker
Great. Thanks. We had one and when Katherine died i played a beautiful slide show, with suitable music (e.g. where is the love), of all the photos from birth to 17! 😢
The macbook air you have is the 2010 redesign or was it late 2009, but the original one had a different design, the 2008 and early 2009 was different, more curved, it had a open close lid for the USB, headphone jack, and video, it was still different enough but point taken.
The iMac G4 might have been a unique design. The eMac was much faster and cheaper of course. In 2002 the design was epic but that flat screen really made the product rather expensive, and the round base made upgrade options rather limited. It's true cost wasn't felt until the customer needed more from that machine. The eMac was easily a better, more capable value over all.

I know that Apple have switched to aluminum and glass materials, but don’t forget even though some of those products might have the aluminum as very thick outer case and the other one’s very thin outer case but it’s the same thing because the screen is glass the same thing it will eventually if example you felt it on the floor it would still be quite easily to break and bend and crack as examples the previous materials like if the screen was still using plastic, it would be Much more durable and even dropped on the floor. The screen would not break that easily as for glass it would crack very easily if you did not have applied a proper screen protector and so I was thinking that maybe Apple changed to use this design it is not so good design for a better durable product.
@@wantikjasonchiu4711 Hey, thanks so much for commenting! I don’t think durability is why they switched to using aluminium and glass. It’s just a more premium feeling material.
Great video, yeah I really like these old mac computers back then I could never afford them, I just always done hackintosh and man did I ever done hackintosh and I know it was on some intel or amd computer box that wasn't fancy or anything, but I always love macOS and still till this day I love macOS, it's BSD Unix call Darwin, it's a solid system works well, it's stable I never had any issues with macOS. Today mac honestly I really don't like them, I hate the fact they are really killing homebrew and hackintosh and also the all in one chip I feel like apple is just wasting computers cause their macOS just gets unsupported when my 2011 iMac with hacks can run macOS 10.15 on it with not really much issues really. I wish apple would open source OSX 10.8x and 10.9x cause man with FreeBSD ports or macports we can use it like a FreeBSD system with a great desktop, imagine having the older OSX desktop on linux that would be cool, but yeah a great OS again gone in the trash as well.
@@CRYPTiCEXiLE Hey, man, thanks for commenting! Glad you liked the video. Yeah, they have definitely gotten less serviceable and exploitable. We’re getting to the point where if you’d like to do what you want with your computer, you’ll have to “jailbreak” it or something. Cheers!
The trashcan Mac was ahead of its time, but as with any product marketing, it happened to be at the wrong time. The components used were somewhat inappropriate, even for Intel, which I never fully expected to deliver efficient or leap-forward engineering. The dual graphics integration is/was a great idea but tech corporations are greedy and want to fool consumers into spending more on their products. Hence, not supporting the idea even for the Windows-Gaming sector. My only gripe is how ridiculous the assembly is. They could have used a slide in method with a foam on each corner and one bracket for example to support the components. The number of screws to remember just to clean the fan and replace the thermal requires like a degree in surgery 😅
@@bryan_ferrer I mean, I’m all for it, but not for a high end professional customer, who wants to be able to access, upgrade and clean the machine. They went from that enormous aluminium case to a trash can. It was also a flop in regards to sold numbers. I’d still like to play with one, though! 😂
With the trashcan they failed the principle Steve Jobs mentioned before. "If something wants to be flat, let it be flat, if it's squared, let it be squared" They failed to recognize that the mac pro wants to be squared in order to be modular and upgradeable and they tried to force it into a cylinder.
