Always be careful with "fan spin" as some turn on all the time and others dont and only sure way is hook up a monitor before you start and i always inspect and change the paste/pads on the CPU and GPU just as when i get a S/H engine, i swap the thermostat too and flush the block as both computers and engines, you dont know what the last owner did or didnt!!
Nah, you did a great job, very logical approach and for someone who doesant do this much, 10/10, no criticism from me and you got it working quickly!! I can add the monitor is very helpful too as if you get a picture then blank it tells you that board is likely ok and CPU too if power lights still on ect but GPU might be toast in its layers inside so sometime picture on and not when you turn board on. Might be a hot reflow might cure a couple bad solder balls and good for months or even years , but usually GPU problems are most time permanent as the balls or layers are worn or over heated as you dont know what last owner did. Not cost effective to replace GPU as S/H ones are dicey and cost and unless its high end, you move on and salvage parts for another one. Most boards now CPU and GPU BGA so upgrades ect not really and they want you buy new one and why Apple is so rich.. "genius Bar" yeah!!..sigh...
@@xx3868 Thanks so much! Funny this got recommended to me, I just found a Lenovo Legion 5 (Ryzen 5, RTX 3050 no screen, big dent but not nearly as bad as the one in this video) in a scrapyard, inside a little castle of rusted out PC towers, of course right next to 4 other perfectly working laptops (aside from extremely low health or dead/missing batteries) and a nearly perfect condition ipad (somehow!?), these had all been sitting out in the elements through two hurricanes and a LOT of rain, I've also gotten several perfectly good towers and miraculously a working windows 95 laptop out of there, now I'm just waiting on an AC adapter I ordered to test this lenovo off of an external display, it's unbelievable how much perfectly good stuff ends up going to waste

2 days ago i found a sony vaio fit 15e and it is stuck on black screen and shuts off 15 second after i press the power button. money not well spend on charger
Hey, man, Vaios are cool! It sucks when you get something broken, but try making a project with it - open it up and see wether there’s anything you could to to fix it! Try looking it up and investigating a little. It’s like a grown man’s Lego set lol 😂 good luck!

Very poor heatsink ventilation architecture.
@@SaiyedR I agree. It seems to be running fine for now, but I’m not impressed with the thermal solution on this thing.
@@schvabek I am in this laptop repair field of all kind of laptop, i saw many laptops with poor heatsink but some very low budget laptop don't even have a fan😒
Considering the airflow design, the procesor being U (ultra-low power) model, and the kind of heatsink metal it used. It seems to be a fine architecture, and also ggreat to avoid dust clogging. Sure it's bad when it:s no covered, but when you keep the laptop cover it gets the right space for the air to flow.
@@VolpeJosesk yeah u r right,
You actually did the voiceover while sleeping?
Hahaha, it’s just my lame ass voice 😂
Well, have had a very mixed bag experience with my 2019 Rog Strix Scar II. A lot of 'Other Devices' in Device Manager in WIndows 11 on it. I'm typing this on a 2014 Asus X550. Workhorse.
@@smallworx Hey, thanks for your input! Windows started giving me Windows 11 updates but I’d rather leave it on 10, I have no experience with Win11. Cheers! 🤟
You need to update the chipset drivers, happened to me too.
@@Justgreen89925 Good call! I’ve updated mine to the newest one from Asus’s website
@@Justgreen89925 Did that, visited Intel site and downloaded drivers. Still half dozen references in other devices. Tried a few times
Wtf is that heat sink
Yeah, it’s quite small (if that’s what you had in mind). But the computer never overheated, so I guess it works fine enough 🤷♂️
I think he meant that it looks quite odd, with those fins. I have taken apart my fair share of laptops and have never ran across one like that. Looks like the heatsink for the southbridge chip back in the old LGA775 socket days.
@@guaiqueritech huh, I guess 🤷♂️😅 To me it just looked kinda small (without any heat pipes), but I know modern notebooks have sweet f-all for cooling, so I wasn’t too surprised. Thanks for watching and commenting, appreciated! 🤟🤟
Cheap computer heatsink. This is usually how they look
Average Linux setup.
@@ayushkaushik8794 Yeah, that’s what I thought 😂 no Linux on it yet, but yeah, the setup itself is legit 🤟
@@schvabek If you do go with linux, go with the linux mint one, its the most windows like.
bruh the dell E6430 laptop I'm watching this video on I personally pulled out from a dumpster I am currently running Ubuntu Linux on it also not the first perfect working laptop or pc I've pulled from trash stores often throw away display items and often they will work if the cord is cut just solder on a new one its really not very hard.

@@schvabek its crazy what stores and people throw out sometimes
