It's a shame that Windows 7 isn't secure nowadays, has poor DPI scaling support, no dark mode, and no flip model composition for games (meaning you won't have FSE equivalent latency in borderless/windowed mode), and no support for modern controllers (it will just complain about drivers).
I miss Windows 7, but it seems like Linux is the only real alternative (that still gets updates) to using Windows 11. Genuinely the last great thing from Microsoft, but that's mainly because they at least had a QA testing team back then.
Radeon RX 6000 series cards are the last cards you can use with Windows 7.

On my 2nd gen ryzen system setup was pretty straightforward. Download iso, enable csm, extract the install wim to a disk, boot hirends boot cd and use the included winntsetup program to both install windows 7 and also include the usb 3 drivers I got from my motherboards site and it was running just fine.
The issue I would have was after a few reboots it would just say "setup is preparing your computer for first use" and reboot. And constantly repeat it. I ended up installing 8.1 instead and used windows 7 gpu drivers because amd dropped 8.1 gpu driver support all the way back in 2017 while they kept going until 2022 for 7. It was for just one program so it's fine, 8.1 is good too. Also no need to enable CSM.

I still have Windows 7 installed on my main desktop which I use for work, (due to program compatibility it ran better on that OS). But unfortunately for my backup laptop that has my personal details on it, I had to upgrade install Windows 10 on it (it originally has Windows 7 installed). The 1TB SSD I bought won't recognize any Windows 7 iso I try to install it it displays the same BSOD shown on 0:09 it only accepts Windows 10. I got two replacement of the same SSD brand and it still did the same, I therefore concluded it has something to do with the SSD hardware and just gave up trying to install Windows 7 all together. For me Windows 7 as well as XP will forever be the GOAT OS for me, sad that it's no longer supported. I tried Linux and I didn't like nor enjoy using it. Great content, thanks for sharing I'll try the methods you shown in this video on a new laptop I'm planning on buying soon.

On 4th generation Intel it works without any problems without having to do all this. And for today, I would say that an i5 4460 is excellent for Windows 7 in 2024. It gives a very smooth performance and is very easy to install there.
I think that using Windows 7 on newer computers, Intel 8th generation and above, is a waste of resources. These are processors and machines with features that Windows 7 is not prepared for make the most of it.

The problem is that despite enabling CSM, i still could not get any stock Windows 7 graphics. I could tell that by seeing how it freezes on “Starting Windows” and doesnt show any bsod. By adding acpi.sys and nvme drivers onto it, it does run, but still, no graphics whatsoever. My only way is to use flashboot’s windows 7 GOP boot efi file which i really dont want to do so since it messes up gpu driver initialization.

Windows 11 needs die. I really wish ms go back and support both window 7 and win10. Even if 7 just got basics newer hardware support/DX 12 and Basic security update. I’d be happy with that.
Everything in windows 10 can be done on win7. Cus windows 10 at is core is still window 7, just with updates core and more bloat. DX 12 can run on windows 7. We seen it happen. World of wars craft got DX 12 support. And yes Imo windows 7 was best os Cus had what 10+ yrs of bug fixed and updates in optimization. It’s far better os imo vs bloated win10 and bigger bloated windows 11.

@@eeaotly win9x operating system stability depended much on the drivers, since the hardware abstraction layer was not good as in win NT, if any. my preferred version of windows was win95 osr2 and i used it professionally at work until maybe 2003, thanks to the on board graphics chip which had drivers for win95. when they gave me a pentium4 i could not install win95 and i also had problems installing win95 on pentium2 computers with a dedicated AGP VGA card. on my configuration win95 was more stable than win98 and immediately responsive. but, be aware that win9x OS could freeze during demanding events so we have adopted a tactic of saving the document whenever you would pause to think. basically on every paragraph or 3-4 lines of code. to prove on court it would take me time, the planned obsolescence you were talking about, but it was there since mid 90s. for instance, i have a life long habit of installing multiple OSs. you could not install win95 on most of the machines, you could not even install win2000 on many machines past 2008, but you could install dos/win3.11 and have a dual boot system with windows xp. if you are interested in planned software obsolesce en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visual_Studio , this is how they do it. Visual Studio 6 is the last version to support the Windows 9x platform. Visual Studio 2005 is the last version able to target Win98/WinME. the end. i will be happy to answer more - according to my memory and time.

hey! great video. made my dinner a lot better
thought id give some tips if youre interested in improving future videos, or improving the feel of your videos nonetheless.
    - there's a subtle background noise that clips in that makes the video audio sound a bit gritty. you should try putting in a noise cancellation effect to all of your recorded voicelines, or better yet, you could try and use an application that cuts down on it (if you don't already).
    - you should put in an outro using the windows 7 startup sound effect remix song you used for the tutorial stage! it would make the end of the video feel a lot more satisfying, and less abrupt.
besides these two things, i think this is a wonderful video that deserves a lot of attention! i think you've got big things coming your way if you continue making as entertaining videos as this one! the quality was quite amazing for a channel of your size, and, i loved watching this and hope to see more wonderful & fun videos from you! subscribed. 🤍

i'm getting the 0x00000000000000000001a error whilst doing the setup_var step.
i searched it up, i'm using a laptop (specifically Excalibur G770 16gb version with rtx 3050)
however people are saying (and implying) that Casper has locked the UEFI settings so it's unable to change/read it.
summary: i'm having trouble trying to change my Legacy Boot (CSM doesn't exist) option from off and on
the specific command i ran was "setup_var Setup 0xCBA 0x1"
however it gave the massive error of 0x00000000000000001a (Unable to change variable)
if there's any fixes for this, let me know cause i've been trying to achieve windows 7 on this computer since day 1.
