I love your videos Tammy. Especially the fact that you’re showing off if you make mistakes or a recipe that is challenging. It’s human thing. It happens to all of us. We’re human. Thank you so much. You are awesome. ❤❤❤❤
aw, thank you so much for your sweet comment! I am so happy you are here joining me on this crazy journey! 💞
I am totally in agreement with you on sellers listing IFRA, plus all info pertaining to what this can do in different applications. I was told in the beginning of my soaping adventure years ago to check IFRA and usage rates WILL vary in different applications of any form. I am so glad! I think I read this in a soaping book I purchased! I am so glad you brought this up. I hadn't realized that there may be folks out there that haven't heard this important information. Maybe write to the manufacturer about the glitter. They could save money on not using the glitter. They might like to know it is not working.
HAPPY EASTER, TAMMY
Cheers 👍🤗🐰🐣
hey Cheryl! you know, I don't even remember the first time I heard about IFRA. It wasn't that many years ago (4 maybe??)😱 - I think I made soaps for several years before I did. No one really talked about it (youtubers or blogs) until relatively recently. I wonder how many soaps that I made that were way off. I remember Brambleberry not having the documents available (at least that I could find) - they only had their fo calculator. I think WSP was kind of the same.
I am so glad you did well. I told you they are good sellers. On the other hand mine are from WSS and you ate totally right on candle science cs, they are the best. I even reach out to them asking how to make some custom fragrance one of my customers want me to replicate from a Disney cruise she went and they told me exactly what to use. Great! Tip- use the empty glass bottles from used fragrances for your pre mix
You did tell me and I'm glad you did!! That is a great tip about the bottles! I will start doing that - what a waste that I throw them out! 😱
that is a great testament to cs customer service - they do go above and beyond for us. 💞
I got so much good info from this video. Never seen you before, but I am a follower now! Thank you so much!
Awesome! Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked the video and found it helpful. 💕
Thank you! Watched this video because I purchased the same bottles, hoping to make some car diffusers. WAS NOT AWARE of IFRA ratings! So glad I procrastinated! 😂
Thank you for the very helpful and informative video! Enjoyed watching it, you're a delight!
Glad I could help and thank you for your sweet comment! 🤗💕
You do a great job! My friend just showed me her car bottle defuser and asked if I made those. You are ahead of the curve! Congrats.
Thank you! 😊 I don't think I have ever been accused of being ahead of a curve before!! 😂
The extra label you put on your fragrance bottles is a wicked smart organization step. Thank you.
thanks! I have found it saves so much time in the long run!💕
Thank you SO much for this video!! I bought the same supplies as you and have made a few diffusers for a couple of my vendors to check out. I never stopped to think about the IFRA! Now I'm going thru my current stock of fragrances and I'm running into a limited variety that I can use!!
Thanks for sharing your experiences and knowledge!! 🥰
Hey Carrie!! It is so frustrating to try to find ones that will work. I keep meaning to make a comment here that my info on the flaming candle's mahogany teakwood is outdated and it is no longer one I can use. I'm so bummed!! I did just find that bescented has a mahogany teakwood that is over 25% but I'm struggling to trust it because every single other one I found is around 7
Thanks so much for watching!!! 🤗💗
Stay fresh with peanut is a good small business they sell car diffusers supply aroma beads frangrances you should look in to it if you havent already ❤
thanks! You know I went to look at this and realized I did find that website when I tried the freshies, but haven't been back to it since I have decided those were not for me. I will bookmark it for later 🤗
Thank you so much for making this video!!
You weren't kidding about our choices for 10A being limited!
I'm planning to add car diffusers to my shop & want to begin with fall scents.
Bulk Apothecary is the only site I can find a pumpkin scented oil over 25% so far...
However the price is much higher than the candle making supply sites you mentioned...
$1.87 per ounce at 16oz vs $1.20-$1.50 for many choices on The Flaming Candle at the same size.
I had no idea IFRA exists. (I probably dumped way too much fragrance in some DIY creations over the years...)
So, again, this info is greatly appreciated as I expand my business.
hello, I tried replying earlier but I don't think it went through - so here is try number 4 LOL
try Micas and More - Cranberry Pumpkin ($1.37 per oz) micasandmore.com/product/fo-crpk-h/
it is not in stock all year but it is currently there
it has an ifra of over 30% for 10 A - YAY!!!!
also as a side note - this sells VERY well for me in soap (who would have thought a pumpkin soap would sell) wax melts and candles. It is def one to give a go at!
I'm so glad you found my video helpful. IFRA is just one of those things we don't know until we know LOL - I was a maker for about 4 years before I ever heard of it. 💕
@@WalnutCreekBathBoutique Thank you! That sounds like a scent I'd personally enjoy. I'll give it a try.
In 2025 I'm hoping to finally learn the cold process soap making method - I've only tired melt & pour so far.
I often have to remind myself not to put too much on my plate at once. haha So, the diffusers will be a fun stepping stone in the meantime.
I'll for sure be referencing your channel as I expand my soap knowledge. 😊💗
I use flaming candle and I love them. They have everything I want and need
yes!! they are actually one of my go-to suppliers anymore. I have been very happy with everything I have gotten from them. 🤗💖
Hi Tammy!
why hello there! 😆💞
Those are sleek. I'm glad they're working well for you!! 💃
thanks Alex!! 💖
These are adorable, thank you so much for sharing all of this info! I have been on the fence about these, but people have been asking. Thank you again for another great video!
Hi Nora! I'm glad you liked it - thanks for watching and for your comment - I'm glad I finally got around to this - good luck with yours if you do them!💞
Thank you for sharing ❤ I have made some diffusers recently and it’s super fun, I was thinking about the heat index in cars, should this be a concern , if the diffuser would burst?
That’s a concern of mines as well😊
I haven't thought about or heard about anything along the lines of bursting. 🤔 I do know that the scents go away much quicker in the heat of the car that may make customers less pleased than in the winter months...
I love these. Irish Rain smells so good. I agree with the round bottle strings. When I got mine I was like hmm ok why. And the string is not quite long enough . I think I may just replace the strings on the ones that I have.
hey Lori! I thought about swapping the strings but I am not sure how easy it will be - if you do try it let me know how it works out for you.
maybe I can try it this week during recovery time...I can't decide if I will be bored out of my mind or completely in heaven having to be laid up for a few days LOL😍
Thank you for this video! I have been making these just for myself and a few friends. I keep going back and forth on whether or not to sell them at shows or on my etsy shop. I think I might just start doing that. Hi from New Albany IN 👋🏻 😊 ❤ i love watching your Chanel.
Hi Neighbor!! I really do like having these at my shows - I haven't sold many online yet but in person sales are really good. Good luck if you decide to move forward on them! 🤗💞 (and thank you for your kind words!)
I LOVE the citrus sunshine! ☀️ ❤
my new favorite!!! 💞
I just ordered the supplies to make these! I'm so excited ❤
oh good luck with them!!! 💗
I love that you posted this is something I been looking for. I do have a question. So if the IFRA shows over 25% it is safe for us to use as a car diffuser?
Also, If the IFRA is showing 70% are we using 70% fragrance oil and 30% base?
Hi! yes and no LOL
The IFRA tells us how much we are SAFE to use - not how much we should use. If it states on 10A that 18.52 is the max, we can use up to 18.52
If it states 70% is the max, we can use UP TO 70% - would we want to tho? I would not. I feel that is not at all cost effective. If it states anything over 25% I just stick to 25%. I have had success lower than 25% if I can't go to that amount.
Good luck!🤗
Hi Tammy. Im a soap of the month club member and you included a car diffuser in my box a couple of months ago. Thank you.
Hi Lynda! I hope you liked whatever scent you received! I appreciate your being a member of the Soap Club!!💗
You were talking about the difference between essential oils and fragrance oil. I use all fragrance oils with mine and polypropylene glyco 50/50 per Brambleberry.
Can you show me your labels? Are there any certain requirements for labels like there are on candles?
they need the same info as any other label, weight and address
obviously not gonna happen on these tiny bottles.
I have created a card that has instructions on one side and all the legal on the other. I print info on cardstock and then the legal on sticker paper and put it on the back.
I plan to have them professionally printed soon. Probably go down to the business card size.
I am new to candle, diffuser making. Could you clarify it pls? What does it mean? What fragrance oils can I use in car diffusers? Thanks, Mary
Hi Mary! Sure I will hope to help - when you purchase a FO look at the IFRA document that is available - look at line 10A, if it is over 20-25% you can use it UP TO what that max shows.
This does not mean you should use 80% if that is what it shows. - that is just throwing money away, I would still stick to 25% if it showed 80%. That is MY max that I will use. Kind of like wax melts, my wax holds up to 12% but I refuse to use more than 10% (I'm stubborn sometimes LOL) but financially I won't use a FO if I can't get a good scent throw at 10
I hope that helps!! Good Luck!🤗
You’re right about the square bottles.
I'm glad I'm not the only one to think so! I was so disappointed and was certainly ready to spend the extra $1.25 each on them. Just not worth it in the end though
I found the IFRA document on the fragrance oils that I use but I don’t know how to read it. Have you done a video on how to understand the document or has someone else done it?
I have not seen a video on that - and I have not made one . But it is a good idea so thank you so much for your comment. I will add it to my list of video ideas! 💕
Thanks for the info!
You are very welcom!
These look great. I'm glad you did them.
Do you have a recommendation on where to find a sample recipe? I've never seen these kinds of things and am curious about how they are made.
Thank you. ❤
It is a simple recipe actually - 75% reed diffuser base and 25% fragrance oil (as long as it is approved on the ifra form (10A). I linked some of the items I used in the description.
so for my 5 jars with a 25% fo load I used 42g diffuser base and 14g fragrance.💞
I Get Different Numbers For 75% 25%...What I'm I Doing Wrong
@@uniquetee3142 I think if you take 42 x 25% you get 10.5. But if you 56 x 25% you get 14. (56g is my total weight, x 25% = 14g fragrance) does that help??
@@WalnutCreekBathBoutique do you measure by weight just like soap?
Hi Tammy. I recently read and thought people should be aware.
One needs to be very careful if using a glass diffuser in a car in hot weather. The oil will expand in heat and risk is the glass will blow.
Good point! I had not thought of that! Thank you for that tip! Scary thought 😵
Are there any plastic substitute bottles out there?
I also put them in mylar bags.
Great video. I learned so much!
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching!! 🤗
I’m working on testing reed diffusers and car diffusers at the moment and I purchased the square bottles from Northwood Distributing as well. I’m noticing the same issues with them as you, which is a shame because I do like the look of them. Oh well, that’s what testing is for, right? Thanks for discussing the IFRA topic as well. I was starting to wonder if I was the only maker adhering to them - there’s quite a few FOs I love that just won’t work in diffusers per IFRA 😢
I know! I noticed that when looking at them on Etsy and seeing the name of fragrances I know are not supposed to be used (moonflower nectar)
I don't remember who mentioned it in a video a few months ago (was it you? LOL) but I am so glad she did. I felt so mad at myself for not considering it but thankful of the heads up. I also need to update my description as the FC Mahogany Teakwood is a mistake. I'm bummed about it - they either lowered it with the 50th edition of IFRA or I mistyped it in my SM3. either way it is only 7.49%! I'm bummed because that is one that sold well...
Ha, I cant take credit for mentioning it earlier - wasn’t me. But, I imagine a lot of makers are unaware of the differences in FOs for diffuser vs candles. Hopefully this vid will inform a lot of folks. Thanks again for sharing your experience and good luck with the testing.
Very good video thank you so much 💓 🙏 😊 😀
you are quite welcome! Thank you for watching 😀
That’s all VERY important information. ❤
Glad you think so! 😍
If you were making oils to use in clip on car air vent diffusers that have the cotton pads in them that you can put essential oils on them, would you still use a reed diffuser base or something else as the carrier? Thank you for this very informative video.
Hi Lisa! it depends - don't ya love it LOL - if there is NO skin contact (no refills or no stoppers that are then removed by the customer, basically 100% contained, then you don't have to follow IFRA - it can be 100%. If the customer is adding the cotton pads (I have not seen these so don't really understand how that works) they are having skin contact and then IFRA 10 A comes into play.
Thanks for watching!!! 🤗
I just mine in my car and the other one in my husbands!!! I sooo love mine!
oh I am so glad AnnMarie! That makes me feel so good that you are liking them! 💞
Have you found, or know of, a different Mahogany Teakwood FO that is safe to use for car diffusers? Thank you!
Hi Ashley - I am afraid not. I'm bummed because I really liked it in the diffuser...f you do please let me know LOL 🤗
Are these oils pre mixed or do you have to buy a diffuser
I buy diffuser base and then mix in my fragrance. I then pre mix them and hold them in amber bottles until I need to fill the car diffusers.
I’m curious as to why the 10a must be 25%. I was wanting to make tobacco vanilla and it is a little over 19%. Will the smell not be strong enough at the 19%?
Hi Jennifer, it is not that is must be 25%, it is just I won't go over 25% regardless of how high 10a shows.
I think 19% would work fine, unless it is a mild fo to begin with. I have one that I think was around 17 or 18% and it was just fine. As a rule though, if the 10a is anything over 25% (I've seen some crazy high - in the 70s and higher) I simply use 25%. 🤗
Do you mind sharing where you got your glitter? Thank u
I don't mind 🤗- Most of these were either from Nurture Soap, or Rustic Escentuals before they were bought out by Wholesale Supplies Plus.
Thought . . Does anyone know if we could change out the glitter rope?
You can but I have not tried it. (I hate the glitter rope actually). I tried to find a video of where I saw that being done and can't seem to. I think you just take your ribbon and a large eyed needle to thread it. If I ever try it I will see if I can post a video on it. I will share the channel where I found the idea - Nelson Interior - www.youtube.com/@NelsonInteriorSoapery
good luck if you try it! (and let me know how it goes!)🤗
If bottles are falling out of the screw-on cap, bad news. If all that oil ruins someone's car carpet that could be quite the law suite.
thank you - while that is a possibility I think mostly unlikely. At 5 to maybe 6 grams of fluid I don't believe it is enough to ruin carpet - we didn't even see wet spots when it happened to my husband, but I suppose it did get on his pants more, but even then it wasn't anything that stained them.
Can we add 75% fragrance and 25% iso p glysrl.??
hello! I am not familiar with iso p glysrl - either way I think you need to follow the IFRA guidelines on any fragrance you use. to be compliant you can't just do a blanket 75/25 % on all fragrances across the board. It really is dependent on what that document states you are allowed to use (10A) in a diffuser application
And what size bottles do you purchase
the round ones hold a little over 5 mL. I recently switched to a square version of the same bottle and it holds 8 mL 🤗
That lemongrass and lime is a strong FO… I’m sure it’ll be fine.
Hi Aubrey! yep it was pretty good - It smells a lot like Day at the Spa (CS) and I have a lot of that but of course that fo has a low usage rate - and I'm out of lemongrass and lime LOL oh well - I'm likely to place an order soon 😆
Woow, keep going, are you going in our Guild Conference, if so, see you there, cheers!
Yes I am going! Looking forward to seeing you!! 🤗
❌Those round bottles are on TEMU for half the price, if you don’t mind the shipping times.
Hello pretty lady, i wish this was smellotube 😂😂😂😂 have missed your sparkles.
haha - thank you! 💞
Ok, I’ve seen that these car diffusers are becoming quite popular, I understand the IFRA sheet, and how to read it, but my question is…can you use ANY FO/EO as long as you follow the IFRA? I heard you mention 25%, so can you only use FO/EOs that their IFRA is 25%. I am just experimenting right now, so I tried a FO that is 11% and made it, but it doesn’t seem to smell much.
You can use any FO/EO that you want that shows IFRA 10A - 20-25% is usually my limit, much lower than that I don't have a great smell.
I will say I used one at 15% I think and it was fine so it doesn't HAVE to have a 25% limit. I would not even try a FO with less than 15, and usually not even then. Good luck with your experimenting !! 🤗💕
@@WalnutCreekBathBoutique thanks! Do you measure in weight or volume for your car diffusers?
@@ddsisson I weigh everything - that way I can duplicate it exactly every time. Plus it takes it out of my raw material inventory more accurately. I use Soapmaker 3 to run my business.
Are there any plastic bottles that would be safe for the car?
So I have Monkey Farts fragrance that says 15% skin safe. If I put in a 8ml bottle does that mean I do only 15% monkey fart and then 85% the base?
If the IFRA states 15% on the 10A field then yes that is it exactly! 🤗
@@WalnutCreekBathBoutique thank you. Learning about the IFRA sheet confused me a bit.
I made these in December and in my area they are not hot cakes yet
Oh shoot! I hate to hear that. I def have to "talk them up" at shows, that helped a lot. Just a quick "have you used car diffusers before" started the conversation and usually ended in a sale. hopefully they will pick up for you soon! 🤗
@WalnutCreekBathBoutique I have talked them up some ppl do buy and some say cool and walk away. I just think my area is behind in times lol
@@WalnutCreekBathBoutiqueI’ve seen a lot of them seller well. Plus I have lots of people tell me they sometimes leave a bar of soap in their vehicle for the smell! So that’s why I have decided to work on incorporating them in my line of products.
You look bright and cute It's nice to implement projects yourself Can you tell me what materials you are mixing? I am from an Arab country and there is no one who gives useful information Stay well, cutie
Use polypropylene glyco and you don't have any worries.
so Diane - you had me on a google rabbit hole with this one 😂 I had never heard to use this in diffusers
I see that you can use this at 60-65% with perfumers alcohol at 5-10% and then the fo at the IFRA %
can you explain what you mean by I "don't have any worries" with using it?? I'm very intrigued LOL
I can't tell what brand base she's using
hello! it is in the description box. I use the Flaming Candle diffuser base, but have had luck with other suppliers as well
ive been making these and selling them at my flea booth along with candles and wax melts. my question.. i also use mostly candle science products.. does the frangrance mix well with the reed base? I cant tell so i have literally been making one diffuser at a time because when i tried to make 5 or 10 it appeared the two oils werent mixing well. ?? i felt each diffuser would have an uneven amount of scent by making a larger batch
. idk. im probably crazy.. 😂 it is messy and i spill alot. ive found a large syringe was easier to fill with than the mini funnels or beakers.. Ive never considered anything other than a 1/3 ratio on lighhter scents and 1/5 on strong scents such as Coffee and Nag Champa.. a 1/3 ratio cause my head to hurt in the car when testing the scents were soooo strong I had to roll all windows down.. I also got much smaller bottles that only hold 3ml fluid and that teeny bottle lasting over 6 months in the car..
hello! I have never had separation, I have started master batching them in 4 oz amber bottles and then mix well before I put in diffuser bottles.
I also stir the base as I fill to keep it all well combined.
I only ever go up to 25% on fo (if I can per IFRA) - some scents are lighter that others obviously but I need it standardized. It helps with costs and just mentally being able to compare one with another
I also spill a lot LOL - syringes are a great idea, but I think I would spill more with that than the pipettes I currently use 😂
It's really too bad the "nicer" bottles didn't work better. They're very pretty.
I know Andi - I was bummed. I was ready to spend the extra money on them too - they are about $1.25 more each, so I am trying to look at it like I am able to pass my savings on, but as it is I am stuck with that stupid glitter string...unless I can find a way to swap it 🤔💞
