    It would be super cool if yall could sell a kit, like you do for candles, to make like 3-5 diffusers (or whatever would be a good deal). ❤ 🕯 Great video yall.

    I'm starting a flameless "candle" company so wax melts and now these so this is great info that people are preferring these now. Thank you!!

      These should be a perfect flameless option for your line! A lot of places like dorms and apartments have some restrictions on candle use so it's a nice option to offer for sure.

    The flowers and reeds can not be turned. Will the fragrance continue to diffuse through the spirals and flowers without turning? Or should straight reeds always be added.

    Can you blend different FOs like we do for candles? If so can would that help FOs with lower IFRA percentages for diffusers to be supported by another FO and achieve the 15% recommendation? Thanks!

      @candlescience  10 місяців тому +1

      So technically, yes, you could blend fragrances for reed diffusers but the percentages can get a little tricky. If the two fragrances you'll be blending have different usage recommendations, I'd suggest going with the lower amount. For example, if one scent can be used at 25% but the other should be used at 15%, stick with the 15% for the total amount to use in total.

    Can the jars be used again with different fragrances? I have a few empty jars from purchased diffusers that I would like to recycle.

      They can be, yes! You'll just want to clean them out and probably use a bit of rubbing alcohol to help remove any lingering scent.

    Can you cut the flower Reed down a little to make different levels?

    • @candlescience
      @candlescience  10 місяців тому

      Typically, I wouldn't recommend cutting the reeds as it could damage or compress the channels in the reeds that the diffuser base uses to pull the fragrance from the bottom to the top.
      While we have not tested this specifically with our diffuser reeds, if you would like to experiment with trimming the reeds, I would recommend using very sharp scissors to create a precise and straight cut. It would be ideal to keep the uncut side of the reed in the diffuser but with the flowers, this would not be possible.

    How to do the testing? Saw someone doing a chart. Like the weight per week is consistent of how it decreases by weight means its diffusing right is this correct?

    • @candlescience
      @candlescience  11 місяців тому +1

      That would give a good ball park estimate but it can be tricky to determine the full lifespan of a reed diffuser as so many factors come into play. The number of reeds, the type and amount of fragrance, air flow, and environmental temperature all affect the diffusion rate. It may be more accurate to chart weight loss for longevity while also running separate tests for strength.

    Hi! Have you ever run into the issue of the diffuser not evaporating at all over a long period ? Smells great but does not dry up. Used the ratio recommended by candlescience

    • @candlescience
      @candlescience  10 місяців тому +1

      Hi! Yes I've experienced this and the lifespan of a reed diffuser can vary for sure! If the diffuser is still throwing scent well, great! If not, you could try replacing the reeds and this should help a bit. If there are new reeds and there is no longer a fragrance though, it may be time to replace the base/fragrance mixture all together. Reed diffusers can last for weeks even months in some cases though so if it is still smelling good, no need to adjust just yet!

    You didn't mix the base and fragrances properly... you could've used one of the reeds

    • @candlescience
      @candlescience  11 місяців тому +1

      Absolutely! Ideally, a nonporous utensil like a metal spoon or silicone spatula can be used to fully mix the fragrance and base. The tutorial on the site will be more comprehensive but thank you for calling this out for the live, it's a great point!
