FTP Motorsport Intake Pipe install on my F30 BMW 320i LCI (B48 Engine)

- While installing the #FTPMotorsport charge pipe on my car, I had notices minor leaks on the intake pipe as well. So I went ahead and got myself the upgraded metal Intake Pipe from FTP.
Removing the OE Pipe is pretty simple, on C Clamps, three connectors and the OEM pipe is off, although I did struggle a bit with mine as it was dry, old and deformed.
Install is reverse of that, only challenge is to find a proper angle to get the C clamp onto the turbo. From there it was a breeze, the PCV outlet did need a bit of lubrication to go into the metal pipe though.
Feedback is definite increase in throttle response, not as much as the charge pipe though, but its there and you do notice it. Remember, an engine is an air pump, and the more freely air is able to get inside, the more efficiently the engine is able to make power. - Авто та транспорт
This is a true install with real struggles. Not the cuts most top UA-camrs are doing making it look so simple.

Aside from this video, it was pretty surprising to see that there are basically no good LCI B48 intake pipe install videos. Thank you very much for this video, I followed it exactly and was able to upgrade my intake pipe in an hour. I would've done it quicker if that stupid C clamp didn't fly off in the engine bay (I had to take my wheel off just to be able to pick it up from the splash shield). Much appreciated, thanks again!

I just installed the ftp inlet and evolution racewerks charge pipe on 2018 430i b46. Car seems slower now. I assumed opening up the breathing passages would help not hurt.
I would double check the clamps, it should not be slower at all.. check for leaks
How can you tell if it has leak? Right now I have MST intake on my B48 engine but not that 'small' intake pipe. It is still plastic, not alu like yours. Did you check for the leak or did it affect the airflow?
I saw leaks at the joints and where the pipe met the turbo.. since PCV outlet is on this pipe it’s easy to spot leaks, just look for oil stains
Hey prithwi would you suggest a conical air intake for Delhi summers or an stock replacement?
Stick to stock filters. You loose a bit of airflow but it keeps all the dust and crud out of ur engine

What symptoms did you have with the cracked pipes? my car sometimes stall during cold start and I wonder if there is a leak in my intake pipe. Did you have any issues when starting with the leaks?
Started with bad gas mileage and the graduated to hissing sounds
I am going to tune my 2010 Skoda Laura tdi.
While the OE pipe is flexible, the tuning pipe seems like solid. Will it not cause any problem? What is your opinion? Thanks

Yes noticeable increase in spool and turbo noises
If not for the compression this 2.0 would've been a tuners favourite
Totally agree. Also the damn engine falls flat beyond 5500
What do u mean by the compression?
That breather hose that's leaking - do you have a part number for it? Mine cracked because it was so brittle while moving it out of the way.

What lubricant did you use for that connection? I want to change my intake pipe on my b48 soon
Also does it sound any different in your opinion with the new intake pipe
I used some fresh engine oil. And the engine does sound different

@@ayyyman_ I originally did but I notice it bogged it down when it got warm. I found the best results was an intake pipe with a k&n air filter it’s a true cold air with the stock air box. I noticed a pretty good difference. That intake pipe works very well and easy to install.
Oh okay now I understand so that pipe you just put in that's only for to be used with the stock air box.. because if you put in a let's say MST cold air intake that pipe won't work.. there is one that's shorter that doesn't bend up towards the airbox.
