One thing to remember Fritz! The 340i does not need any of the extra duct components that the 328i needs. We used a 340i chassis for this design and it already came with all the downstream ducting, for that model it is a drop in mod! Thank you for figuring out the 328i, we hadn't known about that until you pointed it out, much appreciated. :) Keep up the awesome work.
0:57 one cannot wish for more air and not expect dirt to come along with it. Stick with ur paper filter as their sufficient enough and the money u save from the filter u can splurge on the Ram air scoops
There are some mechanics claiming that you should only use high flow air filters if you rebuild your engine (like a track car) every year due to the excessive particles that pass through the larger holes. Higher flow = less filtration. Some claim that those dust particles will scratch up the internals of the engine permanently, commonly seen on the cylinder heads. Fritz, what is your take on how damaging these filters are to an engines health based on your research? There are studies (oil analysis tests) supporting both sides, and I found it difficult to come to a conclusion. I would be really hesitant to run a high flow filter on a daily for years on end, until I come across more convincing evidence that it's safe to do so. Thanks for the video, I will definitely be getting an air scoop.
I would think that most of the particles get trapped in the intercooler. It would be challenging for those particles to make it across then back up the charge pipe. Hope that helps
I did a little experimenting with my M240i, and came to a few conclusions. Firstly, you're completely right about a sealed system. The filter must be sealed off from the engine bay to prevent hot air from entering, meaning those "hot air shields" that come with many intakes are almost useless. However, the induction/turbo noise a non-enclosed system offers is to die for. Since fun trumps drag times in my book, I chose to get rid of the airbox after a few months and reinstall my cone filter. I tried the drop-in filter with an aftermarket turbo inlet as a compromise, but I still found myself missing the outrageous turbo noise too much to settle for the subtle improvement offered by the aftermarket inlet. I also had a silicon silencer delete attached to the airbox to improve things as much as possible, but the airbox alone is a more effective muffler than the rest of the intake plumbing.
THIS. I know open air intakes aren't the most efficient from a heat perspective, but I've done it for the sound alone and have zero regrets. Worth considering changing the stock turbo inlet as well, since it has more resonators that muffle the intake turbo noises. Went with the BMS elite intake since it came with the upgraded turbo inlet as well, makes tons of whooshing noises and I love it
These things are mostly worthless unless you're doing huge upgrades. I put a BMS intake on my F30 N55 and all it did was piss me off with a lot of extra turbo whining and no perceptible improvement in power. Sold it after a few months. The intake box with the BMW N55 MPPK upgrade (which I have) is about as good as it gets for that engine.
Hey, love the videos man! Just wanted to ask, when you turn it off and then back on, can you set a default colour ie.purple. Or do you have to use the Bluetooth app and set the colour each time you use the switch? Thanks
Hey Fritz, love your videos. Excellent presentation! Could you do a series on the N55 (maybe include the N54 as well) engine? I have two X5’s and also looking to get a 3 series manual with a N55 engine. Thanks for the consideration!
will it still fit if you have a clip on cover on the v braces in the brill. i have a red cover on mine to make them look red but would that interfear with mounting the big mouth?
@ I’m speaking hypothetically. It would be a good way to iterate different geometries and test for optimal intake flow rate/temp. Surely I’m not the only person who has thought of this. I’ll bet F1 teams test ideas this way.
@cynic-kun I ordered this exact one to include the passenger and driver side. I also emailed Velossa Tech about my make and model which is the 2014 BMW 428i (F32/N26) and they cancelled my ordered without consulting me.. so I called their company this morning and talked to a different representative. The person who emailed me said it would not fit my “2014” model and didn’t specify anything else.. this doesn’t make sense bc the 328i’s also share a similar chassis and this dynamic air scoop is only mounted on the V-Brace.. I don’t think or know if the brace is larger on the 4 series.. and it doesn’t exactly mount directly into the air vent but is only pointed and directed at the air vent to the intake.. Can anyone else verify this? I honestly got mad at Velossa tech for just cancelling my order without my confirmation and ordered one from eBay which is similar to the FTP dynamic air scoops. I’ll lyk how those fit.
@@FritzRamos I like them both, I was replying to a previous comment. The black ones are really nice and look much better compared to the Afe ones. I have the Afe one on my bmw right now but I will evaluate to change it with this one's.
Nice video. Those LED scoops are hideous if im being honest.

WHAT?! Now I'm jealous. Thanks for sharing that
This guys videos are professional quality
Fritz, thank you so much for this! Always love your content, we’re honored!
Thanks for making an awesome product!
What’s the dimensions of the side that attaches to the duct openings? Trying to see if I can make this fit my X3 35i.
Best??? Injen Tuned Cold Air Intake! Just simply Amazing coming from my previous AFE
Very nice Fritz! Love the fresh content ❤ these intakes are on my list.
Thank you! Glad you like them!
100% right! I love my velossa tech ram airs!
Awesome! What color did you get?

Those VelossaTech intakes are really sharp! 😮
Thank you! 😁
Thank you. The performance is nice too!
How did I not know about these intake scoops!?? Just ordered a pair for my M235i with red flares 👍🏼

Great job Fritz

Nice video bro!
do they fit bmw f31 320d touring, diesel model ?
@9:05 omg a fully metal rachet on the positive 😅 that could be dangerous
I didn't explain well: does it also work well on diesel engines? Thank you
Wouldn't this be a problem if its raining? Forcing water down your airbox? What do you think any thoughts. Thanks.
ggood info. LEDs are hideous tho lol. I never liked those janky wiring installations
could i combine those ducts with a high flow filter? js curious
is this possible/usefull for diesels too or only petrol?
Works with any engine configuration as these intakes are chassis specific, they are offered for F22/30/31/34 (235/m240/328/340).
@@velossatech113 sadly i think these does not fit the f22 n20 motors?
According to their website, this works on f30s 2016 and above. Do you know if that is true? I have a 2014.
It should work on a 2014 because this car is a 2012
@@FritzRamos thanks
Are these intake air scoops suitable for BMW 1 series Facelift?
Would i run into any issues with snow getting in the scoops? And how bad do the bugs and rocks get if they go into the scoops?

Will those big mouth intake fit on f36 440i as well?
As long as you don't have the automatic transmission cooler and aftermarket heat exchanger it should. But Double check with Velossa Tech 5:20

Hello Fritz, eed your help ! What's the best intake you can recommend for a 2024 530i ?
I have the cts turbo intake. Is this good?
Why can’t you 3D print a cold air intake?
I don't have a 3D printer 😅

would this fit an f32?
I’m planning on getting one for my F32. This F30 chassis is identical for placement of air intake as he mentioned in the video.

Would be better for n55
they might be ugly but at least they are functional
So you approve of the black one? I didn't think many people would like that it's concealed

It’s a turbo car 🤦♂️ it goes through the intercooler it really doesn’t matter that much
