Super videos! My friend and I watched your “get out of the trench” video just after Christmas and decided to try and improve at dota rather than just playing. We’ve climbed ~1250 mmr since then with a 65-70% win rate. We’ve both learned a lot from your videos and our success comes is down to your content for sure! Thanks very much!!
You made an analysis on a replay of mine (Ancient 5 CM) sometime ago. I have being following your videos and just want to say thank you! Applying your concepts made my winrate go up to 59%. I am at Divine 3 now, aiming to become Immortal in the next few months!
I'm super new and have only played about 15 games (unranked). I enjoy warding/de-warding and understand the concepts but it's been a real challenge in-game. Either my poor map awareness makes me an easy gank, my teammates hog the wards early on and then flame me for not warding, or there's so much going on I don't know when to go ward (and when to support my team). So much to learn 🙃
when to ward = when your cores spells are cd / either when you think you shouldnt even if team goes in. At your level of games there are no exception to time in game its afk farming or afk fighting for respect. Do your own thing dont play your team and you will learn dota.
It helps to know where on the map you and your teammates should want to play at various stages of the game. That will help you determine where and when go ward, because it's always safer to play when you can see the enemy coming and avoid them rotating towards you (or your carry). You'll also get in the habit of thinking about warding while you're already doing other stuff.
Amazing video! Really like the idea non patch specific concepts of warding. Especially liked your thoughts on the rhythm of wards and thinking about how dewards impact what you want to do. Will definitely try use this!
Yo i have been with u when you first reached your 5k subs and now its almost 25k! I do appreciate you going in depth about supporting and has made me a better support player. Hope your channel grows to 100k and hopefully 1 mil. Cheers ZQuixotix!
Great video, but I wish you covered one more topic: gem of truesight. When do you get it, but also how to play around when the opponents get it, and your expected ward lifetime goes waaay down. I guess you hold the wards for placing the do-or-die fight wards only?
Hey dude, just wanted to let you know I really enjoy your videos. They are clear and well-explained, and you seem to have a knack for teaching. Keep it up :) I thought I'd throw in a suggestion for your videos: increase the Dota graphics when you're filming (assuming your PC can handle it). It's really a deep thing, but I think it might increase the quality of your videos without you having to do much.
Oh god, I am remembering the old times when sentry and observers didn't stack together, their lifes weren't set to 10 (so they took damage like normal units and some heroes had a VERY hard time safely dewarding because of it). I think the only thing I truly miss was being able to break wards with the small axe that breaks trees, when melees supports didn't have extra attack range against wards, so they had to either eat with tangos or ask for another ranged hero to deward, which gave them the money. Supporting nowadays is way less stressful and I'm glad newer players don't have to deal with all the inconveniences older players had to deal with.
I had a game where enemy had Mirana, safelane Riki, and a mid SF who went silver edge. Our team had no stealth. So I would say anytime that active gems in the game hurt the enemy team more than your own
"CHECK CHECK CHECK!! the enemy support inventory" is what I find telling to myself whenever I'm watching my own replays, we need to be constantly checking the enemy support to have some idea where is he warding. Dewarding is as strong as warding, everybody knows how difficult is to play when the map is dark.
19:15 in situations like this, if I'm level 12 or 17 (fast respawn timer compared to other higher level players) I might put the ward on those northeast stairs that lead to dire bot tier 3 and stand where yellow is to be a "living ward". Is that wrong? Probably, because most things I do are wrong. But it's what my instinct sometimes tells me to do.
Can you do a video on how to use the courier? I don't mean like, the functionality of how to make it work, but more like, sneaky things supports can use the courier for, how to "outplay" your opponents with the courier, etc.
Might be a silly thing to ask of a support main. But could you make a video about when you should NOT buy bkb? I feel like it's a high MMR skill to recognize when bkb should or shouldn't be bought.
Great video. Most times when i do this, my other support goes and wards next to my ward on a hill xD. or carry goes and flames wards when he dies eventho you could see the enemy coming his way. 🤣😂
One thing you didn't cover is when to use sentry wards as a defensive tool in a fight to counter invisible heroes, vs using dust. When is each appropriate?
One more suggestion: don’t place wards in a place where enemy won’t be. Or where you don’t need to see them. Sometimes we’re with team at bot and it’s black there, but top is fully warded
I play a lot of heroes that don't get high-ground vision spells (shaman, enigma). I usually just put sentries on cliffs (or ground sentry+blink). I guess I should be using courier huh? Any tips for courier management?
i feel like courier is good for dewarding your own ~safe side of the map and when you have time to spare, because it takes a while for it to get to you
You definitely should be placing wards as pos 1. They're free, you're usually more capable of putting deep wards down and you know what vision you need to be safe when farming. This whole only supports ward thing is pretty dated imo
Pretty situational, but if you've mastered this concept enough you can pretty much sense the wards As an example as a pos4 sky main, i generally place a sentry ward on enemy safelane cliff at 10 mins or so because I'm always sure there's an obs there at any given moment There's also pre-warding which in 90% of cases is better to block the enemy small camp

Your a great teacher and very generous with the information you provide. Just wanna say ty.
Yeah, awesome video! I've def. been placing too many "superior" wards! :)

great stuff, these are essentially the basic rules i use for my own warding and i have pretty good success with it.

Best support content on the interwebs.
Just subbed to your channel brother. I'm new to dota 2 and Ive been watching your videos none stop. Great job my guy.
Would love to hear more about the double moonshard CM build!
Can't trust them carry players
You should have seen the Herald bracket when CM first got that 250 AS talent.
You're a very good teacher. I hope I can apply these learnings when I play ^^
So glad yt recomended me this channel. S-tier content.
Truly quality, relaxed, adult dota content. I respect
This is by far the best explanation of the general concepts of warding. Just what I needed, many thanks!
It's helpful to have team mates who actually look at the minimap! Lol. I think the large minimap should be the default setting! Great video sir.
guys. this is proper content. let's all like and subscribe!!!
Another great video! As a Herald support this gives such an advantage over the non informed.

Yes! Please! Inject supporting contents straight to my veins! Inject the whole lot of it!
Learning a lot from your videos, ill watch every vid on this series to improve :3
Thanks for all this info
Sentries can also be used to show enemies in trees like Radiant Bot Tier 2 Tower
Awesome informative video!!!

Yo that OGRE MAGI trick video made wonders... We easily destroyed opponent laning with ignite lv 1.
im just a herald, but I try to tell people that fact about leaving sentries. Hard to get people on the same page in pubs
do sentrys still grant flying vision?
PART 1!!! That means PART 2 IS COMING UP!!! So ncie content
