I need to send that opening to my friends lol. He gives me grief for not getting bounties, and I'm like, I have a carry to protect. That bounty is useless.
The bounty is not "useless" its simply not a priority. Each bounty gives 200g+ and it increases each time. It's best collected during a rotation or when any hero can swiftly farm the jungle.
Bounties are great. I find only poor performing teams consider them useless. I usually end up plucking 1000g worth from their jungle bc they ignore them. Doesn't mean you have to die for every bounty but that's the other extreme.
Bounty is important but less priority than risking yor life. Just imagine giving the first blood to enemy just because you want to contest the bounty rune so badly. Its a +400 gold already to the opposing team
A tip for lower ranks... Deward the common spots and if you're never finding wards start dewarding atypically. Only ward typically if you're going to have control of an area with your team, otherwise just out of typical sentry range is a better choice most times. Don't forget to flame your carries for removing latent enemy sentries and getting you dewarded 😂
You were the channel I was looking for! I’m a support main mid crusader looking to break into archon. These tips are handy and I think the biggest think for me is just consistency
I would love tips for mid and late game. My legend games often go 50+ minutes even when we’re up 10k+ net worth. Sometimes a cm gets hooked by pudge, sometimes we got caught by bbs. It works vice versa as well, but I just wish for a clean game 80% of the time.
13:00 sentry first advice is debateable and situational. Yesterday i had a classic situation of putting a sentry first, started dewarding and got killed by 3 heroes who were camping in fog of war nearby. If i had put observer first, i'd detect them and retreat immediately.
Question on dewarding. Sometime when i deward, i die, in the time i hit the ward. Is it better sometimes to just put a sentry, see there's a ward, and just run away, warning your team, there is vision in this place ? Or is it ever worth it to potentially sacrifice your life, dewarding it ? It happens very often when you're under siege and try go give some vision to your team.
When de-warding, assume the enemy has vision. This means they see you coming up to de-ward + the time it takes to actually de-ward. Many support players choose dangerous times to ward/de-ward which is why they end up dying, so good map awareness will help you choose the right time to check dangerous areas (because you know the enemy is somewhere else or you have teammates protecting you). When it comes to major teamfights, it can be worth it to take time to de-ward, but it's probably not worth dying for if you can help it. Especially the wards that often get placed for high ground sieges. It may be your base but it is NOT safe to go for those. You should assume they are willing to jump whoever goes for the ward and you have to be willing to take that fight. Otherwise just approach the fight KNOWING they have vision of you and act accordingly

What is your advice for a game where my team wants to immediately group around (for example) top lane, while I'm supporting bottom? How do I balance my early warding with being present for my team?
good sir, perhaps you have another "how to climb out of" video for climbing out of archon.. you video climbing out of guardian was very helpful, but now im again hardstuck :))
I usually walk to lane after early action if I know my carry will be fine for the first wave. It allows them to get the solo XP and hit 2 faster even if they only get 1 or 2 last hits instead of 2-3.
I definitely agree that solo XP can be good for some carries in certain match ups, Morphling comes to mind. However, my counterpoint would be in a pub game, it's safer to hit the lv 2 timing together rather than trust the carry to know how to handle that advantage unless you are fairly high rank
Yup. You always have to consider the following: - will my core be able to secure all lasthits alone. - how many ressources will it cost my core to do so without me there. - will I be able to offer denies by staying in lane or harras enough, that it is higher value? - what are both sides lvl spikes that can defend me being behind in lvl while my core "maybe" lvl before enemy by soloing. The overall answer is: the is never sufficient value in leaving your core alone in the laning phase. Maybe if its huskar.
@@ZQuixotix I agree totally! Depends on the lanes for me usually. The sad part is even if I TP right away and we are 2v1 my carry will just hit creeps instead of harassing and going for a kill 😭
Love your content Zaq but you were MADE to play Viscous in DEADLOCK. Give it a SHOT and who knows, maybe even make a little DEADLOCK SUPPORT CONTENT! It would CERTAINLY go a long way I'm sure. All the best.
Thanks x. For the last point, late to lane, if the team goes for the 1-2 bounty runes, would you recommend supports to be more willing to commit that first tp (if they happen to be far from their home lane) to ensure a strong start? $100 feels like a lot for a support in the early game so I usually walk, but your point makes sense. Thanks!
Yeah, I would say being late by more than 3-5 seconds would make TPing worth it. 100 is a lot of gold, but you also get a new one when you die, which in a lot of pubs will happen at least once before you need to rotate. However at a higher level of planning, I would consider if you think you'll need to rotate mid early and whether you're willing to buy a new TP for that to have it available. At that point, you might want to avoid TPing (and maybe start walking to your lane a little earlier if possible)
Is the guardian ward still acceptable if you're laning against a pudge and need to know where abouts they are hiding? Or should I use some other way to counter that?
true as a support or a core, I really hate especially first bounty rune war, because it's too risky and just for fricking 40-80 gold wtf??????? I don't fricking care my teammates blame me for afking in my tower lane rather than taking first bounty rune I don't want to trade my 10-50% HP / 1-2 Tango / 1 Faerie Fire / 1 Bloodstone just for FRICKING 40 gold!
Im guilty of the bounty rune but I'm curious if the other thing I do is also a sin or if its fine. I usually like to place early obs wards like at 9:50 to get some courier snipes(theres usually a guild challenge for these). Is sniping couriers also not worth like bounties? Or is going for such plays worth it?
Courier sniping is usually worth it as long as your carry can’t get punished/ pushed out of lane in your absence. especially if you can catch the first round of couriers since they usually have regen/first items
rush b tip is kinda bad, because if u are smart enough on lane u can block camp and mind play enemy without loseing sentry or bait out bad sentry placement so he gonna lose 1-2m on geting new courier and if u place it right away most people will know it right away, so on lanes u know u gonna benefit from that u should keep ward
I recently had a pos4 sky start lane with brown boots and then not even right click. I was playing Visage so the entire point of my most important laning spell was tendered useless.
@@imfinishedgrinding638 No idea. The issue was that skywrath is a great early level right clicker and he probably was doing one right click per minute - basically, irrelevant. The difference between his Q and W at level one just isn't that big and I could even see a lane against a ranged support where W is theoretically marginally better than Q. It's not like a Jakiro showing up to lane with his first point in icepath. Showing up to lane with brown boots and not even trying to right click at level 1 with skywrath is just not even trying to lane. As bad as it sounds, if the skywrath isnt even trying to harass taking his E early might even make sense in some lanes just for the silence - I could actually see it making an impact against a hero like Visage with a heavy nuke, as the silence would allow your core to get out of range of soul assumption. The issue really is lots of people in 1k think laning is boring and just want it over so they can teamfight. Those players aren't even interested in winning, since that just means they'll rank up and have to face better players. That sort of approach is super common in lower MMR and I've had many people admit they aren't even playing to win.
@@imfinishedgrinding638 I've literally had teammates tell me that since the 1k game is so different from the immortal game that pros wouldn't be able to win in 1k games because what works in immortal games doesn't work in 1k games.
I've had a thought in my games for a while. I have wards up, we see the enemy team put a ward in the area that we have warded. I want our team to smoke through their warded area and then fight. My team is so keen to kill the ward and they'll deward and then leave. Is the idea of smoking through a clearly warded area dumb? Or am i playing checkers while yall play chess? Anc1 btw
Be in the lane as much as possible meanwhile my pos 5 gank min 3/4 and never come back to the lane and then when he goes back to the lane lanining stage is already done with the enemy lvl 6 hes lvl 4 and dies. after that, that same support ask why I keep farming and cant carry while hes farming the safe camps that I should take.
I disagree a bit with the "get to lane fast" part of the video. Sure, it's always good to be there from the start. But you are also missing your TP, which is worth 100 gold early. That makes it so you can't tp to other lanes, should a fight break out. Gold is valuable early.
That's fair and it will happen every now and then that you get punished for it. But I would argue that for most pub games, how often do you need to teleport before 2 minutes (which is when a new TP could arrive). If you don't want to buy one, what are the odds you die to get one for free before 4 minutes (which is when you might start seeing more rotations happen). Another line of action could be that because you don't teleport but should in theory be winning your lane off of committing it earlier (and can perhaps afford a new TP thanks to that), when fights happen else where, you punish your own lane harder. Or perhaps you are the one rotating first so you don't have to TP. Ultimately, I personally think it's worth TPing for in more games than not if you wanted to make a general rule for what to do, but there will be times it is better to save the TP for sure
With some exceptions, at best you are griefing your core out of way more than 100G by leaving him 1v2, at worst you are throwing the lane and thus the game. The first wave is the most important wave in the entire game, and supports, who are highest impact heros at this point, cannot afford to be AFK.
@@AkovBrick Cores losing out on 100 gold early, means very little. They are taking all the last hits anyway, no? Second, early game is so easy to recover from, it can hardly be called the most important aspect of the game :P. You see it happen from time to time, where you fight the first rune spawn, and one team gets 4 kills. By your logic, the game should be over now. Yet even pros come back from a very rough laning stage. A support showing up 15 seconds late to the first wave is in my opinion not that detrimental to the games outcome overall. You still hit level timings more or less at the same pace, which is more important depending on setup. But I don't fully disagree with his statement though, just that I feel both have merit in its own way.
Can you make a video about how to raise the behaviour score from 6k to 12k? I have 11k communication score, but still behaviour score around 6k because low behaviour score people report everything and consider everything to be grief, even doing everything you say in your videos.

it literallly doesn’t matter, the difference between herald and guardian is luck/games played. Enjoy playing with your friends and don’t get caught up in about rank/elo.
I didn't experience it when I started from Herald late last year, playing with some friends (we were all returning players who didn't play for some time). Sometimes matchmaking will just end you up on the receiving end of a stomp, but it will also sometimes land you on the stomping team.
you can hear the frustration in his voice man xD some players really be doing all of these nono things all the time. ZQ watched way too many low-rank replays lol
90% of my losses come from grieving core players.. Like wtf why are core players acting like a child all the time. Supports rarely tilted even if the cores sucks hard. But core players if they get ganked once and you don't respond to help them well they blame you.
I've only been playing for 3 months sitting at Archon 5 as a Support and I'm going to be honest I really feel like the Healing Lotus is overrated. In all my matches I've yet to see it determine the outcome of a lane. Its treated as more of a safety cushion rather than an advantage. It only stops your lane from dying in 1 trade rather used as a way to generate an advantage. Often times if the lane is already and advantage lane then they don't need the extra healing and if you're in a disadvantage lane and can steal it then it just saves you 1 Salve so it's only worth 100g. I don't feel like it's strong enough to turn a disadvantaged lane into an advantage and every guide says it is the most important part of lanning phase
Trust me, it's very important. More effective players in lane will dish out effective and timely harass and trades. They're safety nets that insures you don't die in case you're locked in a fight/skirmish where any burst heal especially from stick charges and lotuses count. It's not something worth throwing away your life for if you can't contest it but it's still ideal that you get it especially the first 3 min spawn via shoving the wave around the 2 min 25 sec mark so the wave pushes near enemy tower and you and your lane partner can safely secure the lotus. Burst heals aren't easy to come by since stick/wand charges take time to accumulate and you don't often get heals on demand in lane from Omniknight, Dazzle,Treant, etc. Also even if you never have the opportunity to use it, later when you've stocked up 3(Great healing lotus)usually in under 9 minutes, they will make a huge difference in a fight. 125hp and mp for regular lotus and 425hp and mp for a great lotus which is 50hp and mp more and instantaneous. If you are losing in lane, buy extra regen and don't rely on what Lotus provides. It is best used for the burst heal to kill unsuspecting enemies overextending trying to outrade and kill you.

Taking furious notes to aid my climb out of guardian.
I am now a 3 times Ti champion after watching this, and will also be starring in the new Tom cruise movie.
Thank you so much for this!
that pudge/marci exchange was the most stressful thing to watch as a support with 11k hours x_x
First one hits so hard literally my pos 5 left lane and go for the min 3 bounty rune is a instant report and avoid list for me😂
8:12 this one helped me. Now i know. Thanks bro!
Finally, thank you Zach!
Is the guardian ward still acceptable if you're laning against a pudge and need to know where abouts they are hiding? Or should I use some other way to counter that?
17:56 jumpscare warning for my fellow supports
Thanks Z
true
as a support or a core, I really hate especially first bounty rune war, because it's too risky and just for fricking 40-80 gold wtf???????
I don't fricking care my teammates blame me for afking in my tower lane rather than taking first bounty rune
I don't want to trade my 10-50% HP / 1-2 Tango / 1 Faerie Fire / 1 Bloodstone just for FRICKING 40 gold!
In sea region, I just said to my support put sentry first before observer and they get annoyed already,
Nice video my bro
Is it still bad if you stack both jungle camps in 3min rune?
Huh, so your team should help defend wards and not the spam "We need wards"? Who knew.
rush b tip is kinda bad, because if u are smart enough on lane u can block camp and mind play enemy without loseing sentry or bait out bad sentry placement so he gonna lose 1-2m on geting new courier and if u place it right away most people will know it right away, so on lanes u know u gonna benefit from that u should keep ward
yup going for the bounty as you rotate to the mid for a gank is bad................................................
I recently had a pos4 sky start lane with brown boots and then not even right click. I was playing Visage so the entire point of my most important laning spell was tendered useless.
"rendered"
Lemme guess, he didn't take concussive shot lvl.1 and maxed Arcane Bolt(1st skill)first rather than concussive shot didn't he?
Anc1 btw
Quite useful. Im guilty of several of these.
i always put one sentry to ancient dire triangle after rune pick off is that worth it?
I play in a 2-3 stack, lazy warding and ganking the deward is a good source of gold.
What if I'm crystal maiden using the mana amp facet, is it still bad to buy 1 clarity for your starting gold?
Be in the lane as much as possible meanwhile my pos 5 gank min 3/4 and never come back to the lane and then when he goes back to the lane lanining stage is already done with the enemy lvl 6 hes lvl 4 and dies. after that, that same support ask why I keep farming and cant carry while hes farming the safe camps that I should take.
16:30 God, it irritates me when countdown has finished and the creeps have spawned, and someone is STILL in the fountain with no items
11:01 how you active that stack time feature?
Then you better pray your core is not toxic and will not be tilted when he dies because his support is not in lane.
@@night8285 I mean, I pray for that every game I get into :P. You win some you lose some!
Hi...I'm new to dota 2....can I know how to mark danger in the map?
I heckin love pos 3 ench
Can you make a video about how to raise the behaviour score from 6k to 12k?
I have 11k communication score, but still behaviour score around 6k because low behaviour score people report everything and consider everything to be grief, even doing everything you say in your videos.
Where do I find Nether Observers in the shop?
i like how he calls it a guardian ward because heralds don't ward
Body block the spawn vs Dazzle lmao
No 1 should be Chen or Prophet jungling from the start 😭
I got a bit tilted as a carry with my last match with a Prophet like that, although he at least outfarmed all 9 of us (since he got a Midas, Aghanim's, Octarine, and Refresher) and pushing with three frickin Ironwood Treants (cancer).
that dude is no support, he is the mc, so he should be reported for griefing/abuse of role
@@stfu-pi-ddk1ddo891 Yeah I did report him, and we still somehow won thanks to the mid and offlaners, which made a ton of space for my Bloodseeker.
It's only unranked though, but still annoying if it happens.
@@lazylonewolfwhy do you play unranked? (serious question I just play ranked and let my mmr naturally move up and down)
@@kylemesser I don't care too much about ranked or try-harding (too much) in any game.
And unranked is closer to the original Dota 1 experience since I was an OG Dota Allstars player.
@@lazylonewolf Bro enjoying and improvement is much better rather you stack to nostalgia
I generally rush out to block camps and place wards like you are saying before the game begins and fight for the bounty runes -ZQuixotix
If i'm bad then i don't want to be good. Picks the bounty rune *
Question: Is dota hell real? My friends are stuck at Herald 1-3 and they always want to play ranked, I don't want to end up down below and lose my guardian 2 rank to never regain it. And yeah started playing this year.
it literallly doesn’t matter, the difference between herald and guardian is luck/games played.
Had to like and subscribe (:
I have a great idea for a video: What works in immortal doesn't work at 1k

you can hear the frustration in his voice man xD some players really be doing all of these nono things all the time. ZQ watched way too many low-rank replays lol

90% of my losses come from grieving core players.. Like wtf why are core players acting like a child all the time. Supports rarely tilted even if the cores sucks hard. But core players if they get ganked once and you don't respond to help them well they blame you.
Losing mmr, when is the next vid? I’m dying here
i have more winning games with social all chat Off you can focused to the game better
