Easy Peasy T mike !! Important to get chips out like the grease in the flutes of the tap👍

Used this last weekend 4weeks after saying I hope I’ll never have to use (ha) after a huge mistake with compression tester! Nerve racking I’ll tell you what!
One thing I noticed on my head when tapping that the aluminum it’s thinner than outside which caused piston side of hole to crack.. had to finesse pieces out with a pick/tweasers..(last 2 threads of 6)..
    Will note it’s a ‘56, 30hp.. M14 x 1.25, same kit..
did cover save a thread with high heat red loctite, threaded in and used set tool with 2 light taps.. let sit for 24hrs.. threaded new plug in with a small dab of never seize and was off to the races.
Thx T-Mike this video helped me not sweat it to much. Appreciated!

I was thinking one could lightly stuff a small bit of rag in and pull it out afterwards that would lessen even more the chance of shavings messing the cylinder up. I do like that on other places to keep gasket pieces from dropping in the holes.

New to the team mike. like your videos. I recently acquired an evenrude 33 ski-twin. OB engines aren't my specialty but it sure would be nice if I could throw a few future questions your way.
    Thanks T-MIKE

I've been wondering if you answer questions from your subscribers ? I've left a couple few here & there but have seen no reply ?? Would you rather them posted on a different platform like e-mail or text or something else ?? Or , do you really not have the time these days for this service ??
Thank you for your generous consideration,
    Sincerely ................
    Steph Leesville, LA.

Hey T Mike, from everything I’ve seen, aren’t you supposed to put high heat red thread lockers when screwing the plugs back on, and then tap it with the setting tool? What am I missing here? Thanks

      Several ways to do this.

No thread locker there is a tool to secure the helicoil

That’s great T-Mike I’ve seen/heard of helicoil but never used and kind of hope I’ll never have too.
Scary having metal filings inside , magnet works good what does a guy use if it’s aluminum shavings? Also curious when you take plug out does helicoil stay inside threads or does it come back out with plug? And if you change plug do you have to buy new helicoil?
    Thx for video!!

You have secure helicoil so it doesn’t come out when you remove spark plug
