Thank you Dr. Sam. I would like to see something on Taurine and L-arginine. I would like to see if they help my A-fib but the Taurine especially seems to give me diarrhea.
From following Dr. Berg, I have been taking magnesium, potassium, k2, zinc, and vitamin D. I am interested in what we should be taking and the limits. Thank you so much for your work.
I was having toe & foot cramps that made me afraid to drive. My potassium Rx had been increased after lab testing showed it still low. My pharmacist said it could also be from low magnesium. 🙌 It WORKED! ALSO 🙌🙌🙌 I had to STOP my Rx BP med and I SLEEP SO DEEP it's AMAZING!!! No one else ever suggested that for sleep, BP or cramps. I say try it!!!!
My late husband used to suffer from restless leg syndrome. I started him on 375mg magnesium every night and that stopped it. I also have to take a lot if prescription pain killers for a spinal injury, which are constipation. Magnesium helps to keep me regular.
@@lizeggar2421 may I ask what kind of magnesium? I have magnesium Oxide. 250 morning and night. I tried magnesium malate but didn't work out so I just do what I did before.

Standard sick care instead of healthcare. 🙁 I will always wonder how things would be if.... if I had known about root causes, functional medicine and real healthy tools ~back in the days before my problems started. I have seen data showing Magnesium content of foods has nearly halved over the last 100 years. Along with with refining of foods we are struggling to get adequate amounts.
Yep. The soil is depleted from industrial farming. I don’t think this is one of her best videos, there’s a lot more nuance to this issue than “eat a healthy diet”.
Yes Joel. It's basic. Minerals can't get into plants (and onto animals) if they aren't in soil or water (unless food is brought in from elsewhere). Doctors should know this from the Iodine history. Can't fault Sam, she's globally doing a great job.
I've supplemented with the glycinate form for years now. Citrate induced a laxative result for me -- none at all from glycinate. Great information -- thank you.
Very informative video. Thank you! About 5 years ago I was dealing with muscle spasms mostly in my back. I started taking magnesium glycinate at night. The spasms went away. It also helped me to sleep better.I eat a very healthy diet, as you recommend. But I still supplement.
I read an article that indicated that magnesium could be beneficial in regards to heart rhythm. I started taking it months ago and my heart rhythm has improved greatly since then. I do take other supplements that support heart health; however, I thing magnesium’s effect on nerve function made the most significant impact for me.
Low potassium is the likely cause of exercised-induced muscle cramps. Potassium is necessary for the brain to send messages to the muscles, so low potassium can lead to muscle weakness. Muscle contraction and relaxation is about calcium. Calcium attaches to certain receptors on the muscle and makes it contract, and then the brain sends the signal to reuptake the calcium off of the receptor so that the muscle can relax. If that signal is unsuccessful because of low potassium, a muscle cramp occurs. Magnesium competes with calcium for attaching itself to the contraction-causing muscle receptors, so in the sleep state, sufficient magnesium will bind to those receptors before calcium can and prevent night cramps. Potassium and magnesium walk hand in hand in preventing cramps. Get both to optimal levels.
I associate calcium with contraction and magnesium with relaxation. I agree. K and Mg go hand in hand. If the body is severely deficient in magnesium, it won't be able to hold on to enough potassium.
As I understand it, keeping magnesium in balance with calcium is an important factor in how much magnesium a person needs. I consume a lot of dairy products, so I get lots of calcium. I find that magnesium supplements eliminate regular and painful cramps after vigorous and prolonged exertion. This all became an issue in my 50s.
I completely stopped my migranes by eliminating grilled/ fried (browned or burned) meat. It is something to do with what is made with high heat/cooking for a long time. I also eliminated anything with artificial additives
Pls make a video of Potassium supplement from tabs and from fresh food. I had heart failure twice and when I was hospitalized, I had 5 bags of magnesium infused and 3 bags of potassium. It would be interesting to see a video of this. Thanks.

The skin is unlikely to absorb more that tiny amounts of magnesium if any. Magnesium salt dissolved in water will stay in the water, and since water is not absorbed by the skin, neither is the magnesium.
There are ten or so different forms of magnesium supplements as well as magnesium oils. So it is a matter of horses for courses to select the one for a particular condition. calcium and magnesium as ions compete with each other chemically (2+) - muscle contraction/spasm must have a calcium component; giving magnesium replaces calcium, releasing muscle contraction.
One other thing to know about Magnesium, people who are regular smokers of Marijuana tend to be very low in Magnesium and should supplement daily. This lowering of Magnesium may be the cause of some of the side effects of Marijuana use such as irregular heartbeat and anxiety.
