  • 1985 Toyota pickup 4X4 diesel. Can you believe this?!!! What a RARE find! This factory original dually turbo charged diesel 4X4 is in showroom pristine condition. 5 speed standard transmission, standard locking hubs, opening rear window, sunroof. Not even a scratch in the box! It is a true survivor with original factory paint and options right from Toyota. Incredible fuel economy at 5 liters per 100/KM (56.5 MPG). What a fantastic little truck. I have no idea how many of these were made, but I'd bet IF there are any others in the world, there cannot be more than a few.
    When Ryan showed me this truck I immediately asked if I could make a video of it. I'm trying not to be filled with envy or jealousy, just glad that someone who recognized it's value bought it.

    That is an incredible find for someone. The box and fender sides being completley free of rust is a mind blower! I was not aware these trucks were available with duals. I bet it purrs like a kitten on the highway, the fule mileage is out of this world and no DEF!! That is definitely one rare and very special piece of gear!

      Yes they weren't very common that's for sure it is probably the only one in the world like it especially in that shape.
      And the fuel mileage is incredible as they all should be. if they could do that in 1985 why are we messing around with the computers and garbage now with not nearly as good of economy.

  • @enterBJ40
    @enterBJ40 Рік тому

    Not all twin batteries Toyota are 24 volts. Back then in 1980's Toyota offered the so called "COLD SPEC" version on those vehicles destined to countries with cold weather. Many Toyotas that went to Russia and China back then were COLD SPEC. I have one of those vehicles.

    • @lovesloudcars
      @lovesloudcars  Рік тому

      That makes perfect sense I have a few Nissan patrols or safaris from Japan they are 24 V but it's easy enough to be 12 with 2 batteries I just never looked close enough out how the cables were run to a determined.
      I am guessing your Toyota vehicle is probably not quite as new looking as this one is it's amazing hey?
      I hope you enjoyed the video stay tuned for further nonsense and entertainment my friend and thanks for leaving your comment.
      Do you have any videos posted of your old Toyota diesel vehicle?

    • @enterBJ40
      @enterBJ40 Рік тому +1

      I think the reason behind the 24 volts electric systems is Japanese cars is because tax. As far as I know ,Japan tax system establishes that you must pay car taxes based on many criteria at the same time. Vehicle purchase price , vehicle dimensions , engine displacement , engine cylinder number and some other aspects are considered in order so set your tax payment. I notice only "big" displacement engine installed in "big" cars like Nissan Maxima/bluebird ; Land Cruiser 60 and 70 series are 24 volts. I guess they do that in order to be classified in a better tax ranking.i know Industrial and agricultural vehicles in Japan are all 24 volts and pay a lot less tax than a regular passenger car like, let's say, a medium size sedan like U.S Camry.
      So far, the only difference between my 1984 Toyota Cressida"COLD SPEC" and the regular model is the starter which is a 2.5 kw capacity while regular starter is only 2.0 kw. I also noticed there's no insulation between muffler tubing and passenger cabin. I suppose is a way to make the heat that the muffler irradiated goes directly to inside passenger compartment in order to keep occupant warm. Rudimentary if you ask me .
      Contrary to what you would expect from a "COLD SPEC" toyota, this car have not heater! Yes, that right: your only heat source to the passenger cabin is the heat irradiated by the non insulated muffler.

    • @enterBJ40
      @enterBJ40 Рік тому

      Want to clarify that my "COLD SPEC" has 2 batteries but is 12 volts. The batteries are connected in parallel circuit, hence the big amperage that goes to the higher capacity 2.5 kw starter.

    • @lovesloudcars
      @lovesloudcars  Рік тому

      @@enterBJ40 very interesting. Absolutely crazy not having a heater though hey??
      Just goes to show that engineers can never be accused of thinking about it..
      After all the great ideas they decide a heater isn't necessary? It probably had something to do with ordering different specs for different applications. " oh-! You wanted a windshield too??" Type of thing.

    • @enterBJ40
      @enterBJ40 Рік тому +1

      "It probably had something to do with ordering different specs for different applications"...I truly believe you spot on this, Ryan. This car was purchased in the Caribbean, hence that could explain why it doesn't have heater. I used to heard from people, back then in the early 80's, that Diesel vehicles required tons of battery power to work, which doesn't make sense. I think is this misconception that lead to certaun clients to request for a twin batteries Toyota diesel ,assuming that a single battery would be enough to power up the vehicle. Perhaps one ot those clients was the original owner of my car. My hypothesis could explain why I have a twin batteries 12 volts "COLD SPEC" (with no heater) Toyota Diesel, originally marketed for China and Russia, in the Caribbean .
      No much different from those Toyota Land Cruiser series 100 with stock triple locker and 12,000 pounds winch that never see action by original owner.
