One of the sweetest lines I’ve ever heard.
Then it’s followed by a bittersweet look at his 100 day photo, finally seeing Po’s mother and realizing without a word what happened. And then one more gem: “Look at him, he’s hurt and confused. And he *still* has to save the world.”
Ping is legit up there in contention for my favourite Kung Fu Panda character, he's got so much depth and dimension to him but ultimately it just comes down to being a good dad with honest intentions
So glad the crew got to witness the single greatest training montage in the history of animation.

Also perfectly reflected in the respective villains:
1) The most skilled Kung Fu warrior
2) The mastermind/schemer with reliance on technology
3) The Master of Chi from the Spirit Realm
the way i see it,
1) becoming what u want to be
2) becoming what u were meant to be
3) becoming the best version of yourself
There's also the theme of Past, Present and Future. The first movie was about resolving Shifu's past mistakes with Tai Lung, both literally defeating Tai Lung and giving Shifu a second chance by teaching Po. The second movie is about letting go of the past and focussing on who you are now in the present. The third movie is about the passing of the torch from Shifu to Po and Po learning how to teach kung fu to the next generation
In addition, people have pointed out the different conflicts Po has dealt with in each film 🤔:
1. Physical
2. Mental
3. Spiritual

For those familiar with kung fu / traditional chinese medicine, these three things also represent the three pillars:
1) Jing (physical essence)
2) Chi
3) Shen (spirit)
Each in turn can nourish the other, and the term "chi kung", which literally means "energy work" is a powerful training method to nourish all of them, expand your consciousness, be free of illness, give longevity and full of energy and vitality. But it must be high-level chi kung (also spelt qi gong in chinese). Tai chi is similar, it means 'supreme ultimate", which is essentially a series of movements to not just attain a powerful chi flow but also build internal force, and become proficient in combat if needed. Tai chi is much more than just flowery movements by old people in a park, which many would think nowadays.
If you decide to take up on of these powerful healing arts, make sure the teacher looks healthy and energised and has a sparkle in his eye him/herself. Otherwise, they are not practicing it at a high-level, and the kung fu is not authentic.
A fun theory people have is that as Kai said, Oogway betraying him wasn’t a over-exaggeration and that oogway himself used to be a war lord, as it’s stated he had his own armies. Oogway changed after he was wounded and the pandas saved him, and Kai likely felt genuinely betrayed by his brother in arms for just turning on him seemingly out of nowhere.

Oogway is probably inspired by the story of Ashoka the Great. He's not a king, but he at the very least was spiritually converted away from the ways of war in a similar manner to what the stories portray of Ashoka. Substitute "Chi" for "Buddhism"
The theory is less of a theory and more of an implication.
Kai was always a warlord- Oogway and him being brothers in arms more or less confirm Oogway himself led conquests across China along with Kai.
Fun Fact: Kai's theme is both based on, and tributed to "I'm So Sorry" by Imagine Dragons.
When i first saw it in the theatre, i was like "hold on... i know this!" And it bugged me until the third or forth time it came on, and i finally got it.

3 already?!! When Eric was like “I wanted to see more of Oogway” in the 1st movie, and was a little salty seeing Oogway pull the Dreamworks moon in the 2nd, I was like “just you wait Ericcc” lmao. Once again, Mr Ping is best character in the entire trilogy, he’d better have a decent screentime in the 4th movie.😤

Well spoiler alert he kinda does in the 4th movie,but most people are saying that even the third one was better than the 4th one.

@@aaditkhan728the 4th one must be pretty bad then because the 3rd one is my least favorite. way too goofy, weird pacing, rushed plot, villain has no character development and personality, furious five act like they're not kung fu masters, action in general is just plain basic, basically no kung fu or display of martial arts at all (even lord shen who was dependent on his weapons had better kung fu than kai)

Mr. Ping is the best character in the entire series.
I know a lot of people consider this movie the weakest of the trilogy, but I say it's still amazing. J.K. Simmons is incredible as General Kai and his villain theme goes so hard. I love Po's struggle to become a teacher and master chi, and the climax is truly epic.

The little panda baby's all over Tigress were actually Angelina Jolie's kids
The panda village is what was left of the escapees after the massacre with few descendants since the years have passed. The mother is definitely dead, but it's implied since it's still a kids movie, so they still refrain from saying death. The spirit realm is basically the afterlife, so Po killed Tai Long, and everyone that resides there died.
I don't think Tai Long "died" since his body was sent to the spirit realm too but he doesn't have a way to get back, so yes and no. I think of it like Enoch from the Book of Enoch, went to heaven but never died. But yes kids movie so hard to say.
With the context this film gives, we know that the Wushi Finger Hold sends people directly to the spirit realm, but it is unclear whether or not it is considered death.
Considering the Wuxi Finger Hold didn’t kill Po or Kai, I’d say it’s up for debate whether or not Po “killed” Tai Lung.
Oogway died (decided to leave the mortal world), after he sees that a Panda is here (which he probably thought were extinct) and he trusts Shifu to train him to make him the true Dragon Warrior with Chi powers.
I always thought that Oogway's decision to leave the world was oddly timed, and now it all makes sense.
also it wouldn’t have made sense for Oogway to be around when Tai Lung showed up to the Jade Palace, and Oogway just watch him get his revenge. Basically Oogway already defeated Tai Lung, it wouldn’t have made sense for Oogway to defeat him again
Oogway definitely would’ve beat him but he already had his time

Oogway defeating Tai Lung again wont give conclusion and peace to Shifu
I adore that when Kai and Oogway first fight at the start of the movie, it’s clear that not only do they know each other, they genuinely like one another. They get along, they smile when they see each other, at one time these two genuinely deeply cared for each other and even though they are opposing now, that care is still there. It’s such a nice touch.
I think you missed the part when Oogway said he was the one who sent the "message from the universe" telling Li Shan about Po being alive. It's the paper he's reading at the end of the second movie.

fun fact if you look closely in at least one scene you can see that Tai Lung from the first movie is one of the Jade amulets Kai has on his person. He just never uses him as a Jombie for some reason.
I believe it's due to Tai Lung being so powerful, Kai can only make Jombies out of those with weaker Chi without risk of losing control over them. (Which is why he never dared to use Oogway as one)

Shifu was the only one who was fighting toe to toe with Kai. It took seeing Oogway to finally give Kai a legit opening against him.

I can't believe Aaron didn't say what the scene he already saw from this movie was, unless I missed it. He said last video and the first KFP that he saw a scene from a kung fu panda movie and was waiting for it but it wasn't in the second or first one. This great mystery will keep me up at night.

This movie really did feel like the culmination of Po's journey over these movies so far. I'm very happy with how it all turned out, and while Kai might not have been on the same level as Lord Shen, he still did a perfectly fine job. I'm very pleased with it.
And now, having just finished watching the fourth movie, I'm excited to see your reaction to that one, too.
Kai is definitely a step down from Shen and Tai Lung but he’s still a villain I really love. His amazing theme sampled from Imagine Dragons, his cool design, his power level and his very unique fighting style (it’s dope that Shifu, Oogway’s only direct student, is the only one who was able to fight Kai on equal terms). J.K. Simmons I think does better as villains like Omni-Man who are more serious, but he still does great as Kai.
I feel like this movie was the one executives threw notes at the production crew saying 2 was too mature so make it lighter. Much more jokes and cute happy pandas. Not as bad as Alien Force, but not quite as graceful as when Return of the Jedi got lighter than Empire but still had a more balanced tone.
Nonetheless, I really enjoyed the full circle of Oogway’s Legacy. And Po looking and seeing he finally is the warrior of legend he always dreamed of being, and has the love and friendship of so many good people. Great way to have ended if they wanted to.
Po's vision from fhe beginning of the 1st film is fulfilled, in the 2nd film he does the ascending bicycle kick and now he actually gets the exact outfit.
I don’t think I’ve seen anybody talk about it but when Po tells Li he’s gonna go defend the valley near the start, the lighting around Li turns red. Shen’s color was red to represent the blood on his hands, so Li was immediately getting PTSD from learning his son was going into danger again.
The fact that Kai is probably the weakest villain of the original trilogy is a good indication of just how high the other films have set the bar on that front, all three films have fantastic antagonists and the fourth one is going to have quite a tough job following up on these films
It is implied that Oogway and Tai Lung's Chi were what was keeping him in the mortal realm and that either could have broken out if they were used as Jombies. I'm sure we'll get that covered more in the 4th movie since Tai Lung is back but we'll see

Kung Fu Panda is great. HTTYD is good for the first 2 but they dropped the ball with the 3rd one. It's rushed, they dropped the stuff set up in the second movie and the ending comes out of nowhere. They really should've added a 4th movie because they had too much stuff to include
When I first heard "Kung Fu Panda starring Jack Black" I didn't have high expectations for it, but this trilogy is so good the whole way through.

Kung Fu Panda 3 is another great movie!
Po has two really great dads. I loved seeing the Panda Village, Li Shan and Mr. Ping slowly getting along, the emotional scenes, and Po's epic fight against Kai in the real world and the Spirit Realm (shoutout to J.K. Simmons for his great performance)! Also I love listening to the music in this movie, especially the tracks that play during the battle in the Panda Village and the final battle against Kai! I can't wait to see Kung Fu Panda 4!!

While the second movie is undeniably better, this movie makes such a great conclusion to the trilogy, especially with Poe surpassing Master Shifu in the end. It's a beautiful final film.

Watching this reaction I had came to the stark realisation that I haven't watched Kung Fu Panda 3! I kept watching thinking that I'd remember this soon but it never happened.
This is the movie is confirmed not only because he is a true dragon warrior but also the technique, the Guchi Finger Key is a technique that kills the opponent and takes him directly to the world of the dead in Kai. It doesn't work because it was a spirit.

This movie is very underrated, I didn’t love it when it first came out but it’s grown on me a lot
The only miss of this movie was that the antagonist of the first movie didn't show up in the last fight (since he would have been skadooshed into that dimension).

My big issue with the KFP trilogy is the OG's from movie 1 get smaller roles as the series goes on. Jackie Chan and Lucy Lui are lucky to get 3-4 lines. 4 not even having them cast in it and replacing them with Awkwafina worries me.
