It's amazing how this movie can make a peacock of all animals so scary. I've always considered Lord Shen the closest thing DreamWorks has to Scar, Disney's best villain. He's cold, calculating, his past directly ties in with the protagonist's, and there's so much depth to his character, plus Gary Oldman's performance is impeccable. He had one very last chance to change right at the death, listen to Po and stop the prophecy but refused to do so, and as he's about to be crushed he just closes his eyes and kinda accepts it, the prophecy fulfilled by his own foolish obsession. He had his own moment of "inner peace", just for a second at least. Shoulda listened to the goat!
I always like his ending, since in the prophecy, it says he'll be "defeated by a warrior of black and white," which could apply not only to Po, but also to Shen himself (his colors are black, white, and red too I suppose). It's a nice way to show that Shen caused his own demise from the very start, of attacking the pandas, to even cutting the rope causing the cannon to fall on him. I like to think that in the final moment where he accpets his death, Shen realizes he did it to himself.
Leading up to the finale. Po freeing the Five. The other masters joining. I LOVE YOU GUYS in slow motion. Po pulling down TWO boats (he's very strong). Wolf Boss choosing his own pack over Shen. Po catching the red fire balls and turning them golden - his colour and his mother's. Defeating Shen but not killing him, even giving him the option to surrender. The last 20 minutes or so are a tour de force of emotions. The animation is stunning. And the movie is not afraid to go dark and tackle a very heavy subject. This is art.
I would say Abuela Alma recounting losing Abuelo Pedro at the river in Encanto is more emotional. I don't think Disney or anyone else has portrayed that much abject grief onscreen in an animated movie.
I love the touch that Shen is also "a warrior of black and white". Po is the obvious subject of the prophecy, but it could also be Shen himself, seeing as his own actions lead to his downfall.
Yeah the symbolism is all there. He bested two masters no none regular person can't do that. "Po find that the truth" is genuinely for me one of the best Ost in history, it starts so peaceful and then goes to terror, to calm and ends in the most epic and emotional way possible, it is a Masterpiece and the best of the entire saga
The music in these movies is on another level. That scene especially. It’s the Oogway Ascends of KFP2, where I think it’s some of the most beautiful music I’ve ever heard.
ikr!! Honestly, this sequel of a movie is one the few movies I can watch again and again and I don't watch a movie second or third time cuz I already know the plot but that scene was my most fave, HTTYD and Kung Fu Panda are one of my top fave animated movies
59:14 Y'know, they released a separate cartoon called The Secrets Of The Furious Five with all their back stories. It's only around 25 minutes long but it's actually really good and well worth watching. It gives a lot of context to the characters.
The 2D artstyle shifting into 3D animation when Po’s mother leaves him is Po accepting that it happened. Everything prior is 2D because he’s unconsciously trying to deny the truth.
I think the thing about Tigress is that she has never received physical affection or love or anything of the sorts ever since she was adopted by Shifu. He was already hardened by Tai Lung back then right? So when she receives that hug, she didn't know how to compose herself so she just stood there shocked.
I LOVE this movie! Not just because of the story. Not just because of the music. Not just because of the animation. I love how the directors and writers had references recalling the first movie. One example is in the beginning when the kids were playing with the Po action figure and they say “enough talk, let’s fight!” Also the fact that Mr. Ping now sells tofu when he told Po in the first movie that selling tofu was his dream, but dropped it. But after he saw Po fulfilling his dream of learning KUNG Fu and becoming the dragon warrior, it inspired Mr. Ping to fulfill his own dreams. Incredible writing with one line of dialogue.
This is like without a doubt my favorite animated sequel of ALL time, beautiful music, great characters, great comedy/action, and an AMAZING Villain. Shen has got to be one of the greatest animated villains of all time. I'll always have this memory that when I was like 10 or 11 when my uncle took me to watch this in theaters and was so engrossed and I heard people around me actually tear up at the inner peace scene. And I'm glad how much Eric hated Shen just means this movie did a good job making him a despicable and evil villain
100% agree re villain -- you can argue that it was fairly easy to make a snow leopard a compelling and threatening villain, but to do that for an albino peacock? You know come to think of it, I wish they chose another animal w white fur/plumage as the villain of the third movie just to keep the theme going, but I can see why they didn't.
Technically Shen might be considered a warrior of black and white since he's a white peacock, he trained in marital arts, dagger and weapon combat, he bested two masters. This could be further implied as the travel/get ready montage was playing, it went to black and grey, and showed po/shen on opposite sides, then reverse/swap places to the ying yang symbol. Shows they are similar but also different. And he led himself to his own demise bc he wouldn't stop, po just avoided/dodged. He himself was his own undoing, he could've stopped he chose to keep going
The moment everyone skips over is during the inner peace fight, po becomes a yin yang. It’s pointed out, but not expanded on. In that moment, he fulfilled the prophecy, and Shen’s eyes show his realization that it’s over. So cool
No one came into this movie expecting something so emotionally engaging, especially with the mom flashback scene. Best of the Kung Fu panda movies in my opinion, the score and emotional beats hit very hard, and with few words being expressed.
WHAT A WONDERFUL SURPRISE!!!! I was almost going to have a bad day but this has made things so much better. I havn't even started the video I'm excited and I look foward to seeing this reaction and watching along with you guys😁 THANK YOU
The dad is the best part about these movies, James knocks it out of the park. He's so lovable, everything about these movies is so good but Ping has a special place in my heart. Reminds me of my grandfather who wasn't related to us but he was my grandfather in every other way. I miss him dearly, lost him last year. He was excited about moving to a new place with grandma but couldn't handle all the stress and died before we could move them.
Mr. Ping is my fav character in the trilogy, just so wholesome and funny. And no one is immune to the Shifu hype when he showed up lol. Glad you guys finally saw this! Goated sequel.
I will always love the original, but Kung Fu Panda 2 is on another level, every fight rules, all the fun new characters, great villain, and the emotion is so well done. I love that a lot of it is Po working with the Furious 5. Their dynamic is the best in this movie.
Kung Fu Panda 1 and 2 are some of the best animated movies to date. Really memorable and watchable by all ages. When I first saw this, I was still very young. Now I'm a grown ass man and can still sit and enjoy it. Sigh... unfortunately they just dont make movies like they used to anymore. Rip Golden Era. Awesome reaction guys. Loved every second of it.
This movie has no right being this amazing. Like the moment at 50:40 is easily the coolest thing I've ever seen a protagonist do. Without a doubt the best of the 3, love the reaction guys.
3:44 The thing is shen was actually pretty nice to the wolfes when he was still in the city and they were Royal guards so they had a lot of respect for him because of the kindness he showed and decided follow him willingly to help him do the genocide. They still were loyal and followed him after his banishment.
KFP2 is definitely the best of the trilogy (quadrilogy?) And Gary Oldman had brought so much character to Shen, literally made him one of my favorite villains in animation.
Every time I rewatch this movie I'm consistently blown away by how *incredibly good* he is as a villain. Turns out you can have a villain with depth, emotional pain and a touch of sympathy and still make them irredeemably, scenery-chewingly, cackling evil.

One of the greatest animated movies ever made. From the cinematography, to the VA, to the colors, to the comedy, to the score, to the raw damn EMOTION! Now on to the third!
This one and HTTYD 2 are the best sequel animated movies!!! I truly love this movie, specially with some details... When he DREAMED his parents and the attack to the village for the first time, it was 2D; because it was something of his "imagination/a dream" (as his dream in the 1st movie)... But when he finds his inner peace and truly accept what HAPPENED to his family, it is shown in 3D, because it has come his reality, a part of his life...
And Shrek 2 and Madagascar 2, Puss in Boots 2. They can do 2 movies but third one is a turd one ALWAYS. Sad :( also sad that 4th Kung Fu panda looking VERY blant and cheap
This is honestly one of the best Sequels in the Dreamworks roster. It's not just a good movie but it does everything a sequel should do: Continue the story instead of repeating it, challenge the characters in new ways, expand on the world building and leave a lasting impact on the franchise. Plus, like any good sequel, it organically references the first movie in ways that tie well into this movie's story!
Not to long after seeing this in theatres I had a nightmare about my mom leaving me in a radish basket, that’s the power of great storytelling. God I love this movie so much even 13 years later! Also great reaction guys!
I think this movie has some of the most impactful shots in animation ever. Just the visual transitions between Po’s traumatic memories and him achieving inner-peace are beautiful enough to make this movie iconic. It is perfect cinematography that is especially noteworthy for an animated film. It can be hard to find and capture shots to their fullest within them and yet they went above and beyond. It is also magnificent storytelling that hits home the themes between Po’s past and his present. The flashbacks to scenes of the first movie, after Po was reminded of who he was, they are examples of how such scenes were made more powerful by realizing them at the perfect time and place; ultimately, it made the first movie even more compelling than it was before. My favorite one was bringing back the essential elements of the movie at the end where Po and the other masters had been blown away to the water. Everyone had lost the will to fight except for Po. Po stood on debris in front of Shen’s cannons and they shoot at him. In that moment we see a bird’s eye view of the color cannonball with fade in of the water droplet. The goosebumps you feel the first time watching this film is an unbelievably awesome experience. The visuals, the music, the story, everything.
Mr Ping, Po's dad, mentions in the first movie that he use to have dreams of making tofu but that he gave them up because that was ridiculous. In this movie he mentions that he sells both tofu and noodles, meaning that Po taught him he could follow his dreams!
I love Fairy Godmother, I'm fascinated by Tai Lung and I really like Death, but Shen is still the best Dreamworks villain for me, he has it all, design, fights, voice actor, music, motivation, you can take him seriously , etc. It is so elegant but at the same time intense
I'm surprised no one pointed out that in the first movie, everyone struggled to find Po's nerve points, but here the Soothsayer does it without any problem.
Still kills me that the silly panda movie has one of the most genuine, heart-wrenching, inspiring examples of a single dad raising a kid and being the Actual Best Parent Ever.
The visual style of the flashbacks are so insanely pleasing to look at I was in awe when I saw it for the first time. Probably my favourite part of the movie
One thing I realized is that Lord Shen’s color scheme, while it has some red, is also black and white. The prophecy was that he would be defeated by a warrior of black and white, and he ended up dying to his own hand.
18:39 "They need to learn about Lonely Island" True I'm pretty sure Lonely Island was more popular in middle/ high schools than the adults it was made for.
20:44 if you want to learn about tigeress's backstory for your next reaction, its in a kung fu panda special collection. The first is called 'secrets of the furious five' which covers tigress's early life as well as the rest of the team, and 'secrets of the scroll' covers how the furious five were formed.
This one really gets me every time. Between all of the stuff with Po's dad to Tigress... but especially whenever Po is experiencing inner peace. I'm not even _remotely_ embarrassed to admit that I tear up every time, even during reactions. As much as Jack Black is a generally comedic actor, he really can pull off some amazing intensity. Even when he's longing for peaches, or asking to be hit one more time. As for Lord Shen, Gary Oldman did a truly phenomenal job with the character. You see the ruthlessness... but you also feel like he feels that he doesn't have a choice but to seize everything that he was raised to feel is not only his right... but his obligation. He was made to believe early in his life that he not only should rule, but had to rule, and all of the terrible decisions he makes are because of that immovable belief. When Po confronts him at the end and makes him realize that it is possible to make his own choice, the choice that he makes isn't to fight... it is to die... because that is the only way that he can escape from the desperate need to control and direct everything in his world. I believe that is why, as the cannon is falling on him, he doesn't try to escape (which, given his speed and agility, I believe he would have well been capable of) but rather closes his eyes and calmly accepts death. Either way, that's my take on all of this.
I was smiling and tearing up throughout this reaction. It never occured to me how good this movie was until I watched this video. I must have been blinded by my nostalgia for the first movie when I watched this one back in 2011. This was much better than I remembered. Thanks for the reaction guys!
Yes i am so happy! I love this movie (and whole trylogie) so much Also 59:55 Eric went Renegade 😂it shows how good the story is when you get so invested in it.
I think the fireworks factory part is my favorite because once Tigress finds out Po is in danger, she is BOOKING IT to save him. You can really tell how close they've gotten in 2 and 3.
We saw some of Tigress' backstory in regard to Master Shifu and Tai Lung, how she trained constantly in an attempt to be as strong as Tai Lung because she felt constantly compared to his memory by Master Shifu.
I swear I have been waiting for this to come out and it is so beautiful how you guys describe this movie. I still go to this movie when I need a good cry
Love your in depth analysis afterwards, haha. The director for this movie was the head of story for the first movie and this was her first director debut ! Also first female director, first Asian American director, she did AMAZING capturing the heart of the story to create this masterpiece.
59:09 Tigress was most likely going to allude to her feature story in Secrets of the Furious Five. She alludes to it further after fighting Po in Gongmen jail, it's the reason she really did understand why Po would want to chase Shen.
This is such a good movie. Perfect from end to end. Every rewatch makes me appreciate the level of care and detail alone. The choreography of the action scenes is so creative.
My favorite movie of all time, no joke. Just the flashback scene from the first movie says it all. This film is such an epic, emotional, and amazing masterpiece on every level.
In Kung Fu Panda, Master Oogway said, "A person often meets his destiny on the road he took to avoid it.” 1st movie: Master Shifu sent a message to the prison to increase security and actually released Tai Lung. 2nd movie: Lord Shen decided to try and kill off all the pandas and technically created Po / The Dragon Warrior which led to his downfall.

Never fails to make me cry 🥺
Zen ball master is also a stellar final figjt track. One of thr best soundtracks for an animated movie imo😊
@@payt00n I'm very glad someone says this, I always love the ost
I always thought the secret of scroll is how furious five unite
I was gonna comment this too
MMMM... MONKEY
Secrets of the furious 5 tells their backstories and the secrets of the scroll tells how they became the furious 5
MMM monkey
The 2D artstyle shifting into 3D animation when Po’s mother leaves him is Po accepting that it happened.
Everything prior is 2D because he’s unconsciously trying to deny the truth.
That's so cool
So cool
The soundtrack hits so much at 34:48, the brass is just epic, the Zimmer-Powell combo never disappoints.
14:23
56:22 just immediately put tears in my eyes. Why is it such a simple line but with such a profound impact on the heart strings. Damn good movie
No one came into this movie expecting something so emotionally engaging, especially with the mom flashback scene. Best of the Kung Fu panda movies in my opinion, the score and emotional beats hit very hard, and with few words being expressed.
Zorg:"15:40"
Po and the Five being friends, Shen's... everything really, Mr. Ping being such a good dad.
I love this movie.
15:02;Answer=Gary Oldman, Zorg from "The Fifth Element."
15:16 Sirius Black aka Gary Oldman voices Lord Shen and Martin Stein aka Victor Garber voices Master Thundering Rhino
And Jean-Claude Van Damme is máster croc
The music in these movies is SO GODDAMN GOOD, like animation and VA and everything, but the music is *chef's kiss*
12:56
Calvin making the noise of Po’s belly at 55:40 is why I watch Blindwave reactions. 😂❤
57:50;But there's gonna be someone would take the Chi from *EVERY* Panda when he arrives there.

The flashback scene in the village will forever be one of my top scenes in cinema. The music, the art, the emotion in it all. It's so perfect
WHAT A WONDERFUL SURPRISE!!!! I was almost going to have a bad day but this has made things so much better. I havn't even started the video I'm excited and I look foward to seeing this reaction and watching along with you guys😁 THANK YOU
Hey hope u have a good day keep your head up ☺️
@@joenava5757Hope you too have a great day! 😊
Genocidal Peacock who would have thought a peacock of all animals could be so genuinely evil
Have you ever met a peacock? They are vindictive little assholes :p I would absolutely believe one would try and take over the world.
I like that Master Shifu was throwing shade at Po's Dragon Warrior inauguration whilst also explaining "Inner piece".
49:41;If you want something done right, do it yourself.
I've been waiting for this ever since you guys reacted to the first one!
Espio:"40:16"Knuckles:"40:18"
Kung Fu Panda 1 and 2 are some of the best animated movies to date. Really memorable and watchable by all ages. When I first saw this, I was still very young. Now I'm a grown ass man and can still sit and enjoy it. Sigh... unfortunately they just dont make movies like they used to anymore. Rip Golden Era.
Awesome reaction guys. Loved every second of it.
This movie has no right being this amazing. Like the moment at 50:40 is easily the coolest thing I've ever seen a protagonist do. Without a doubt the best of the 3, love the reaction guys.

The thing is shen was actually pretty nice to the wolfes when he was still in the city and they were Royal guards so they had a lot of respect for him because of the kindness he showed and decided follow him willingly to help him do the genocide.
14:25;2024;Zhen:"After you get your Pants back."(Zhen grins as Po looks down, and realizes his Pants have been stolen. “Viper, monkey, mantis, crane and tiger.”😂 all hail the warrior five 😂
One of the greatest animated movies ever made. From the cinematography, to the VA, to the colors, to the comedy, to the score, to the raw damn EMOTION! Now on to the third!
42:23;Any last words, Dragon Warrior?
This one and HTTYD 2 are the best sequel animated movies!!!
I truly love this movie, specially with some details... When he DREAMED his parents and the attack to the village for the first time, it was 2D; because it was something of his "imagination/a dream" (as his dream in the 1st movie)... But when he finds his inner peace and truly accept what HAPPENED to his family, it is shown in 3D, because it has come his reality, a part of his life...
What about shrek bro
I have been waiting for this so long please don’t take forever to drop the 3rd
The 3rd one is already on Patreon, 4 weeks until it comes out on UA-cam.
I love Fairy Godmother, I'm fascinated by Tai Lung and I really like Death, but Shen is still the best Dreamworks villain for me, he has it all, design, fights, voice actor, music, motivation, you can take him seriously , etc. It is so elegant but at the same time intense
16:06 I love how Master Rhino uses Anakin Skywalker's signature move with his hammer
Kung Fu Panda one of the few trilogies where the 2nd movie generally is either equal to or greather than the first movie.
31:24
I'm surprised no one pointed out that in the first movie, everyone struggled to find Po's nerve points, but here the Soothsayer does it without any problem.
45:32 dont worry brothers
We all cried at that scene too
Still kills me that the silly panda movie has one of the most genuine, heart-wrenching, inspiring examples of a single dad raising a kid and being the Actual Best Parent Ever.
31:03;You were saying, Dragon Warrior?
The visual style of the flashbacks are so insanely pleasing to look at I was in awe when I saw it for the first time. Probably my favourite part of the movie
Lenny:"52:27"
Such a wonderful trilogy and a great sequel. Honestly can't wait for the 4th one, usually animated sequels are hard but this series earned it.
32:45;Tigress, Viper,&Monkey(Thinking):"You've gotta be kidding me."Crane(Thinking):"Well, now you've done it."
Kung Fu Panda and How to Train Your Dragon are absolutely perfect trilogies
Not anymore. Uh oh
56:57 Aww, he even brought home his Panda Doll.
The ending with Po and his dad is so good, it threatens to make me tear up even after all these years
20:44 if you want to learn about tigeress's backstory for your next reaction, its in a kung fu panda special collection. The first is called 'secrets of the furious five' which covers tigress's early life as well as the rest of the team, and 'secrets of the scroll' covers how the furious five were formed.
You have no idea how happy I was to see this video pop up!
I had a bad day and was crying jn but this genuinely made me so happy. Thank you guys so much
I like how the head mook is clearly outclassed by Po but still manages to trade blows with him consistently
I get in tears everytime his backstory and tiger's friendship and attaining inner peace comes up
I was just watching their first reaction to the first movie and a literal hour after finishing it this is uploaded. Thank the lord
I love this movie (and whole trylogie) so much
Also 59:55 Eric went Renegade 😂it shows how good the story is when you get so invested in it.
You know Eric is heated when he whips out a biblical reference lmao
I think the fireworks factory part is my favorite because once Tigress finds out Po is in danger, she is BOOKING IT to save him. You can really tell how close they've gotten in 2 and 3.
We saw some of Tigress' backstory in regard to Master Shifu and Tai Lung, how she trained constantly in an attempt to be as strong as Tai Lung because she felt constantly compared to his memory by Master Shifu.
Omg I've been waiting for your reaction to this for soo long!! What a nice surprise!

I genuinely don’t think the other films aren’t even close to how great this one is.
They’re all great but the second film is just a masterpiece.
so crazy that youtube recommended me yesterday them watching Kung Fu Panda 1, and today they released this video... perfect timing wow haha
Tigress’s backstory along with all of the five are explored in Secrets of the Furious Five, highly recommend!
This is the best surprise after a long day of work, I’m so excited! Love this movie and watching you guys experience it!!
Eric’s face of pure excitement at 51:08 is so great
This is such a good movie. Perfect from end to end. Every rewatch makes me appreciate the level of care and detail alone. The choreography of the action scenes is so creative.
Yay! My fave Kung Fu Panda villain Lord Shen!
My favorite movie of all time, no joke. Just the flashback scene from the first movie says it all. This film is such an epic, emotional, and amazing masterpiece on every level.
In Kung Fu Panda, Master Oogway said, "A person often meets his destiny on the road he took to avoid it.”
1st movie: Master Shifu sent a message to the prison to increase security and actually released Tai Lung.
2nd movie: Lord Shen decided to try and kill off all the pandas and technically created Po / The Dragon Warrior which led to his downfall.
37:32 Tigress is mindful, she’s a feline so it’s easier for her to land compared to Po, that’s why she lands first and cushions his landing
11:02 I love how Tigress immediately noticed something was wrong here, aside from the fact that Po wasn't moving... blocking or anything.
